What is going on guys? Brad here from pits.com and I got a pick in this Pirates versus Nationals game going down on Friday, September 12th, 2025. You will find all my plays there. But let’s get right into this one, guys. We got the Pirates heading into Washington to play the Nationals. Uh, this will be game one of the series. We did see these teams play a series this season in Pittsburgh. And in that series, the Pirates won four games to one. Um, so we will see if the Nationals could get the revenge in this game. While I’m recording this, the Pirates are actually playing a game against the Orioles. Um, it’s in the bottom of the first and the Pirates are actually up one zero. It’s been a tough series for the Pirates. you know, we saw them lose game one um what was it? They lost game one three-2. They lost game two two to one. They had Paul SK on the mount in that one, too. So, lost some very, very close games against this Orioles team. We’ll see if they’re able to um actually be able to pull out a win on Thursday, whereas the Nationals are finishing up their series against the Marlins on Thursday. And this this Nationals team continues to play some good baseball. I mean, this is a national team that’s seven and three straight up in their last 10. Um, they’re kind of getting hot at the wrong time because let’s be real, guys. This this game and this series is absolutely pointless. I mean, the Pirates and the Nationals have zero shot to make any postseason run or I shouldn’t say postseason run. They have zero chance to even make it to the postseason. So, it’s kind of one of these series like I said that really doesn’t mean anything. But look, man, I mean, when you look at the Pirates and you look at their numbers on the road, they are not pretty. Um their batting average on the road this season’s a 213. Really, really bad. And they will be going against a lefty in this one. Um Andrew Alvarez. And Andrew Alvarez, like I said, he is a lefty. He’s only made two starts this season. Gave up zero earned runs in his first start against the the Marlins. He only pitched through five innings in that one. And then in his last start, he gave up, let’s see, two earned runs against the Cubs. And he only pitched four and two/3. So, kind of seems like they have a bit of a shorter leash on Alvarez. He’s only made two starts this season before those two starts. The last time he pitched in the majors was back in 2017, so it kind of makes sense. But back to what I was saying, Alvarez, lefty. What do the Pirates struggle with? Lefties. Um, they’re batting a 276 batting average against lefties this season. So batting a 213 batting average on the road, batting a 217 batting average against lefties is probably isn’t going to be a great matchup when it comes to a hitting perspective for the Pirates. On the other hand, the Pirates are rolling with Mitch Keller 1 and4 in his last five, 54 erra in his last five. It really hasn’t been pretty. So I mean just looking at the raw numbers this season, guys, I think I’m gonna roll with the Nationals in this one. Um, I trust the Nationals bats to get after Mitch Keller way more than I trust the Pirates bats to get after a lefty on the road. Um, also the Nationals, I mean, like I said, they’re playing good ball right now. Seven and three showed up in in their last 10. It kind of seems like these young guys want to finish their season off strong, want to gain some momentum before next season. Abrams has been playing well. We’ve seen flashes of James Wood kind of return back to the James Wood we saw earlier in the season. I’m going to be on the Nationals. I I wouldn’t be mad at a Nationals first five in this one, actually, because we all know how bad that Nationals bullpen is. Um, so either way you want to play it.
