Is Taylor Swift performing at Super Bowl LX Halftime?

Here’s Brody Brazil. Quick plug for the voicemail hotline. If you’ve got something to say, phone it in right now at 8334 Brody. I listen to all of the calls. I get to play back and respond to the very best ones here on future videos. Hey Brody, this is John David from Houston, Texas, and there’s something that I would like for you to touch on if possible. All right. Okay. So, the NFL season is about to begin and usually they announce who will do the se uh Super Bowl halftime show, right? And basically, in my opinion, though, you know, popular consensus wants the newly engaged Taylor Swift to do it, I believe that, you know, the halftime show needs to have either Lincoln Park, Metallica, or Green Day. Well, um I’m basically a rock dude, so yeah, I think any rock band would do just fine. But what I want to know is who do you think should do it this year? And if you had the time, what do you think was the best ones ever? Or which ones were the best ones ever? All right, I’ll talk to you soon. I love your program. Bye. Thank you. Hey, John. I appreciate the call and this is a great topic of conversation. By the way, Super Bowl 60 here in Northern California, the San Francisco Bay area. I’m not sure if you even knew when you referenced Green Day, they’re from around here. And Metallica also has Bay Area and NorCal roots. So, in a lot of ways, it would make sense if they were the headlining act of the Super Bowl 60 halftime show. But to your point, the person everybody’s been talking about, and rightfully so, is Taylor Swift. Now, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, he was on the Today Show. By the way, the Super Bowl will be on NBC this upcoming February of 2026. And so, they had to ask him, “What’s the latest on a performer? Could Taylor Swift be the one?” He actually was pretty wide open in saying, “She’s very talented. We’d love to have her. She’s welcome at any time. In fact, she would be welcome at any time,” was the exact quote. Then they pushed him on it and they said, “Well, is it like a maybe?” He said, “It is a maybe.” So again, you can take that for what it’s worth. I think if there was no chance, he would not lead anybody down that direction. It seems to me like it’s not confirmed, but at least that’s a conversation. That’s something that’s out there that’s being discussed. It’s wide open. And at this point, I mean, think about the music industry. Think about anybody bigger than Taylor Swift right now. And whether you’re a fan or not, I know there’s a lot of people who clicked on this video because they saw the thumbnail and they don’t want Taylor Swift there for some reason, one reason or another. I’m talking about in the sphere of performers and musicians and somebody with a catalog of music. I mean, she could fill a three and a half hour concert, no problem. She can fill 13 minutes back to back to back with hit after hit after hit. somebody of the popularity she’s got right now, somebody of the momentum she’s got right now. Certainly, it’s not going to change from here in late 25 to early 26. If there’s anybody else named to the halftime show besides Taylor Swift at this point, isn’t it kind of going to be a letown for the NFL? Like, the expectation has been built. And yes, her engagement to Travis Kelce is like part of the thing that really makes this feel like it’s it’s just going to happen. And it’s going down that road, right? The the connections, the timing, the sequence of this, it all makes obvious sense. If anybody else is announced though, isn’t it kind of a let down? And again, whether you love her, whether you don’t care, whether you dislike her, name somebody bigger in music. Like right now, not all time, right now, name somebody bigger than her. You can’t. And if this is the Super Bowl and if you’re really going after the biggest thing, she hasn’t done this this yet. This is kind of like the time. Also, speaking of time, the timing for her like couldn’t be better. Last year couldn’t do this. She was actually, no, I take it back. She had just finished being on tour. I think that wrapped up in December, but it obviously didn’t make sense for the last several years. She’s been out on that tour for like seven and a half years, the ERS tour, right? So, it’s over. It’s done. She’s gonna have basically a year to wind down. And the new album is coming out. By the way, that’s another thing. Her new album is dropping, I want to say, in October. So, it’s going to be four months removed from a a most recent album. So, new music, she’s not on tour anymore. All of this makes a lot of sense. Now, the one thing I want to point out from a sporting aspect and to kind of get ahead of this before fans start mentioning it, if you think there’s a whole the refs love Patrick Mahomes controversy out there, right, and the refs will give him the benefit of the doubt every single time, what do you think’s going to happen when the Chiefs win a couple close games here and there? And if Taylor Swift is named as the Super Bowl halftime performer, like doesn’t the NFL want the Chiefs to be playing in that that game with Taylor Swift performing at halftime? That’s going to be the likely assumption of fans. Look, I don’t think that’s a realistic thing to even put out there in the world, but it’s something people will be thinking about. Wait, are they is is the league trying to get the Chiefs to the Super Bowl so that they can have this this storyline? they can have this, hey, Travis in the game, Taylor performing at halftime. There’s going to be that narrative out there that the NFL is pushing Kansas City to try and get into the Super Bowl. So, a distraction factor, I would have to imagine. So, and I’m not promoting that distraction factor. I’m not I’m not saying that they’re both not professionals and it doesn’t even matter for them individually. I’m just saying the conversation and the speculation surrounding all of that, it is going to exist and there is going to be some potential for distraction, but I don’t think either of them will let that happen. The other point that I wanted to get to in answering the question from the call, the biggest halftime show ever. I mean, so many to name, so many great ones, so many mediocre ones that you thought should be better, so many ones that you had lower expectations for and they turned out great. The one I want to mention though was Michael Jackson in Pasadena in 1993. Is that Super Bowl 27 if I can get my Roman numerals correct? 1993. Michael Jackson came out there on stage and he like propelled you. You got to go watch the replay of this on YouTube. I imagine most of the demographics here on the channel are too young to remember this or to maybe have ever seen this. So, it’s a huge stage. The crowd is already going nuts. I think they knew who was coming out, who was going to pop out of the stage. Michael Jackson gets like like cannon balled out of the stage. He lands and then he stands there for like 45 seconds, hands on his hips just and all the camera shots are people are going even more crazy as as the moment goes on. He’s not doing anything yet. It’s silent from him. And then he starts to get into I don’t know, bad and black or white. He goes into all all his hits. And this was the first time though like the Super Bowl usually featured a performer but also with a marching band at halftime of the Super Bowl. I know. So it’s crazy, right? A marching band at halftime of the Super Bowl. That was a thing until Michael Jackson came out all on his own and was the spectacle. And look, he was like peing in the late 80s, early 90s. And so it was like, wow, Michael Jackson at the Super Bowl, that’s the entire act. There’s no more There’s no more marching band. It It revolutionized the halftime show. So, to the point, I don’t know that I could name one one genre, one performer, one act, one year. There’s been a lot of them that have been great. There have been some, like I said, that just kind of were okay, back to the game. But I do think that the Michael Jackson in 1993 performance, it changed it, right? It it made the halftime show a real thing like we know it today. uh what basically 30 plus years later. So that’s what I want to mention. Do I want to see Taylor Swift at the halftime show in Santa Clara for Super Bowl 60? Yes, I do. Like I said, let’s put the biggest performer on the biggest stage in the biggest moment. And if you don’t enjoy it, look, there will be another Super Bowl next year and maybe somebody else will emerge for the next time around. It just seems like all the things are lining up and this is Taylor’s turn right here in Northern California. Let me know what you have to say in the comments section below. Please keep it civil. I don’t know why this is going to be such a controversial topic, but I want to hear what people have to say. Hopefully more insightful than not. Also, thumbs up while you’re down there. 1. If Chiefs (and Travis) are not in, I don't see that happening. Plus I too have not watched the halftime show. I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings are lower during this part of it. Of course the main concern for the NFL is $$$$$. Having her
    would do that.

  2. 1992 "In Living Color" was the greatest halftime show of all time. It changed the way the NFL did their halftime show. As for what I would like to see as a halftime show, hire Gabriel Iglesias "Fluffy" to do a 15 minute set.

  3. I'd love to see Taylor do the halftime show, but I think there is sort of a conflict of interest so long as Travis is still playing and contending to be in the Super Bowl (although I think the Bills and Ravens are more likely to be there) – if the NFL is up for that controversy, then go for it… but I'd prefer to see Metallica this year, playing "at home" basically and in the shadow of Ozzy Osbourne's passing a nice touch towards heavy metal. Dua Lipa would be my next choice. Also, my vote for best halftime show would be U2 back in 2002.

  4. WHO WOULD BE A MORE LIKELY CANDIDATE THAN TAYLOR SWIFT RIGHT NOW?

  5. Someone else said Jelly Roll. I'd go with a collab of Jelly Roll, HARDY, and Brantley Gilbert. Make it a redneck Super Bowl party. The problem with Taylor Swift is that she'll only draw eyeballs for that 30 minutes that she's on, and those eyeballs won't stay before or after to watch the rest of the game unless the Chiefs are playing and fans are waiting to see the 5-6 glimpses of her in the press box cheering a Patrick Mahomes 15-yard run for a first down or something. So I'm not sure she works for the NFL for that reason; she'll draw peak attention, but it's not going to be sustained.

Best halftime show was the Aerosmith/Justin Timberlake/Britney Spears show back in the day, followed by the Snoop/Eminem/Dre show in LA.

  6. Recent Super Bowl Performers
2024: Usher, with guests Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon, and Ludacris.
    2023: Rihanna.
2022: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.
    2021: The Weeknd.
2020: Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, featuring Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Emme Muniz.
    Notable Performers from Previous Years
2019: Maroon 5, with guests Travis Scott and Big Boi.
    2018: Justin Timberlake.
    2017: Lady Gaga.
2016: Coldplay, with guests Beyoncé and Bruno Mars.
2015: Katy Perry, with guests Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott.
    2013: Beyoncé, featuring Destiny's Child.
PS — it’s not as if NFL has a shortage of entertainers that would be excellent for the audience

  7. Would love Taylor at Halftime. First choice would Green Day joined by the remaining members of the Grateful Dead. Taylor would be awesome but she needs to be at the first Nashville Super Bowel.

  8. I've heard Mylie Cyrus's name getting tossed around which would be good. Enough mass appeal, guest star appearances and cover possibilities with her to make it a lit show. Taylor would do it later after Travis has long retired.

  9. UGH just UGH, is all I have to say. Chiefs get all the breaks because the NFL thinks they can get higher ratings and that is what it is about. The half time shows have been demonic just like the Olympics. Last really good one was MJ.
