How Brian Callahan Cost the Titans a Win

Tighten up. Get ready for it. Cam to Calvin. Tighten up, man. Tighten up, Chad. Tighten it up. Tighten up, Chad. Tighten it up. Let’s get it, Chad. Everybody, Justin Graver and Justin Melo here for the Music City Audible podcast presented by Sinkers Beverages, the premier wine, spirits, and beer store in East Nashville in partnership with 440 Sports. Titans fall 20-2 to the Denver Broncos. This is Music City Audible live with the recap. Justin, tough loss. How’s it going? Doing well. Doing well. Uh, yeah, definitely a weird one, right? like uh I mean I think all of us expected the Titans to lose right around the spread, right? They were like eight or nine point dogs the entire week and they lose by eight, 20 to 12 in what was a really you know a sloppy performance for both teams but uh you know Buck Rising just had a tweet that I thought was was really good in all honesty. He said something along the lines of Titans lose which was expected but in a way that is grounds for fresh concern. And that sort of summarizes, I would say, my thoughts on how this went. Yeah, I I fully agree. We’re gonna recap this game. This show is our instant reaction. Literally, the game just finished. We are live. Thank you all for joining us. We appreciate you all for being here. I’m assuming everyone who’s tuned into this right now is subscribed to the channel. But if you’re not, help us out. We’re trying to reach our goal of 4,750 subscribers by the end of week 1. And we are 18 subscribers away. So, if you’re not subscribed already, hit that button. Hit it, hit it, hit it. Push us over the goal. We appreciate all of you guys. Yeah, like I said, we’re going to recap this game, but again, I I guess what I’m trying to say is I want to try something, Justin. This season on our Sunday show, this is going to be a safe space. Okay, we haven’t reviewed the film. We literally just finished watching the game. We haven’t listened to any postgame press conferences. We are reacting right now. Tomorrow, we’re going to do another show, Monday’s show. On that one, we’ll dissect this game with some analysis. We’ll have absorbed information. will have listened to the press conferences, but right now we are serving up fresh hot reactions. All right, that doesn’t mean they’re going to be outlandish hot takes. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t hold us accountable for anything that is said on this Sunday show because we haven’t like we haven’t had a chance to really even process what we just saw. Melo, are you good with that? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think I don’t know how much my thoughts will change in the coming days, but I guess we’ll see. That’s that’s the fun part of it is we get to do this live reaction and and then you know Monday Tuesday we’ll dissect some of the tape, sit on some things and see if anything about how we’re feeling right now has changed. But uh you know I’ve got some concerns that I don’t think are going to be going away in a day or two. No, I agree with that. But uh just want to make sure everyone is good with how this show is going to go. So chat, let us know if you’re good. Just give me a yes. Let’s get the hot takes out. And then again, we’ll take some time to really just decompress and come up with some more thoughtful analysis. But let’s start with where I where we’re going to start, where we need to start. I mean, let’s talk about Cam Ward. I guess Cam Ward was better than the stat line would show. He finished this game with a pretty low number of passing yards, 12 of 28, under 50% well under 50% completion, 112 yards, averaged just four yards per attempt, took six sacks. The Titans as a team finished with 133 total yards. Cam Ward had 112 passing yards. Okay. And the Broncos outgainain the Titans 317 to 133. So, as much as I want to talk about how mad I am at Brian Callahan right now, I do think we should start with Cam Ward. Justin, what did you think of the rookie debut NFL performance? Thought he looked way better than the stat line indicates, right? Like he was accurate. He was poised. I I I can’t think of a whole lot of throws to be honest with you that I said. What was he doing there? I mean, I don’t think I said that about any throw. I think that last one to Chig um on the third and 10, I believe it was, I thought was a little too far out ahead. I I thought he probably would like to have that one back and maybe get a doover. He felt a little sped up right there. And I think the like the pressure of that moment maybe sped him up a little bit with, you know, again, he had taken six sacks. pressure was there all day, but the the overwhelming pressure of the clock ticking down, it’s third down, it’s one of your last chances. Um, but yeah, I agree. I thought like overall he was impressive to me against a really good defense. Yeah, I thought so, too. And you know, I don’t want to summarize the entire 2025 Titans season after the first week, but um the way it felt like to me for that entire afternoon was that Cam Ward was was pretty good and got almost zero help from his surrounding cast. Like the offensive line, I mean, sacked six times and it’s not like he was holding on the ball for too long, right? Like it felt like they were giving up a lot of pressure, a lot of quick pressure. Some of the sacks were, you know, no one’s coverage sacks, uh, you know, bad route combos. I’m sure we’ll get into that in a second. But, um, not a whole lot of this game, I think, honestly, if any, um, to put on on on Cam Ward. I I thought again, accurate. I mean, I counted three drops for Calvin Ridley. I don’t know if we’ll talk about that separately, but at like three bang-on drops in my opinion for Calvin Ridley. Alec Manor had a drop, non-debatable, that was a bit of a drive killer. And then how many other times did, you know, not other guys made mistakes that were drive killers, like you know, Jason, well, how many how many plays were there where Cam Ward takes the snap and looks for a quick screen or a handoff or a play fake and like nobody on the offense knows what’s going on except for Cam Ward? I mean, [ __ ] it, Justin. We can talk about Cam Ward. He’s going to come up throughout this whole podcast. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Brian Callahan was horrible today. He was horrific. And you and I have defended him a bit. We haven’t defended him fully as a head coach. We’ve said multiple times that he’s got to prove it and this is the year to prove it. And you know, you win the turnover battle four to two at the end there because Cam Ward gets hit on that last play. Um really it was four to one most of the game plus you have a turnover on downs. Actually, you have two turnovers on downs. It’s like you get free possession six times in this game. And to only generate 12 points of offense, all field goals is inexcusable. And the one area that we have said Brian Callahan is pretty good at this. He just needs to get a handle on being a head coach and controlling the team and getting them ready to play and the discipline and all that was play calling. The play calling today. Now look, I’m not like there were individual moments where it was a good play call or somebody got open or he designed a play well. Like he’s a good play designer, but the timing of the play calls in this game and we have to start with the end of the first half sequence. Actually, we can go back. Let’s start with the red zone sequence. the goal line sequence where they hand it off to Pard. He doesn’t get very He gets halfway to the goal line. Not very far. They give it to Chestnut. He gets one yard maybe and then it’s third and goal from like the three or four yardd line. Cam W They call They finally call a pass play for Cam Ward and it’s a sprint out to the left to what I believe was the short side of the field. So, he is forced to roll left. His They’re asking Van Jefferson to go create quick separation in a one-on-one. That was Van Jefferson running that route. The other receiver in on the play was Shimray DK. You You wanna put Calvin Ridley on the field if you’re going to throw the ball on third and goal. Um and let Cam Ward roll to his right. If you’re going to force him, if you’re going to cut the field in half and force him to roll out on that play, let him roll to his right. Whatever. That that sequence was not as bad as a lot of people made it seem. Um I didn’t even mention the third and 10 surrender run that led to a field goal where they were like, we’re just going to it’s the opening drive of the game. We’re just going to take the points. Like that’s not my favorite call, but it’s okay. What gets truly inexcusable was the end of the first half where now you want to be aggressive. Now you want to pass the ball. You’re backed up at your own goal line. The first play is meant to be a screen. Nobody knows where the ball nobody knows what role. Nobody runs a screen. There’s three receivers running block from the same side of the formation. And Cam Ward’s looking to dump it off to somebody quickly. And then Cam Ward is sacked on the third down play. Almost taken into the end zone. Luckily, he somehow manages to avoid the safety and you punt the ball back to Denver from literally like the 1 in line, which means your punter has no space to get a clean, good punt off. That sequence leads directly to Courtland Sutton’s touchdown catch. Whereas, as the announcers pointed off pointed out multiple times during that sequence, if you run the ball three times in a row, you end the half with a 6-3 lead. Absolutely inexcusable, botched moment of this game by Brian Callahan. Yeah. What I don’t understand is like I you want to see some sort of consistency, right? Like on that first drive, the third and 10, what you call the surrender run, right? Like I agree with that term. Like you you said you didn’t have huge issue with it. Hear me out. Like I get it. You’re on the road in a what you think is going to hostile environment. Everything we said throughout the week, number one defense, uh you know, the altitude, all the challenges that came with this week one game. I understand that third and 10 surrender run on that first drive, get some points on the board early, you feel good about it, right? So, where is that same line of thinking? Where is the consistency to say, well, we could get into halftime with a 6-3 lead, right? Like, let’s just get out of this half. We’ve got a lead. We feel great about this situation. We’re on the road again. Number one defense in the NFL playoff team. H how do you not think the same way that you thought on that first drive? Right? You get what I’m saying? like either put you put points on the board in the first half. The same line of thinking, the same thought process is let’s run this out and take a 6-3 lead into the half. We feel good about where we are as a football team. That was inexcusable to me. I mean, you and I I think you and I, we’ve done a really good job last year um deciphering the difference between bad play calling and bad execution, right? all the time. We thought Brian Callahan was a pretty good play caller last year and they were three and 14. That’s you and I kind of being able to see beyond the just the result. Like the process a lot of time felt pretty good and it was often killed by a horrendous offensive line or a horrendous quarterback obviously, right? But today I I honestly think this might have been the worst game Brian Callahan has called head coach as a play caller. I mean, just so many inexcusable weird decisions. I I mean, yeah. And then we got to we like, as much as we had to talk about the end of the first half, I also want to quickly touch on what I thought was probably his other horrendous mistake. Um, which was the third and 22 in Denver territory, right? Like you had just recovered uh I believe that was right after you recovered the punt. Wait, wait, wait. Before you get to third and 22, let let me talk about the whole sequence and then I’ll throw it back to you for third down. Yeah. So, the Titans, the uh Marvin Mims muffs a punt. The Titans get the ball, I believe, at like the 23 yardd line. They are, all they have to do is kick a field goal and they take a two-point lead. They have the ball at the 23. Is that right? Can I double check? We’re live. I think it was It was in Denver territory. I thought it was closer to the 30, but was within a 10 yard range of what you’re saying. Here it is. First and first and 10 at the Denver 24. 24 yardd line. You are in easy gimme field goal territory. even for Joey Sly. Give me field goal territory. And now you want to again be aggressive and call a drop back passing game against Denver’s ferocious defense. If you’re going to ever run the ball three times in a row, which he did earlier in the game and then didn’t go for it. If you’re ever going to run the ball three times in a row and just take the points, this is the time to do it. Okay? Your pass protection has not been great all game. Your receivers don’t know where they’re supposed to be. Nobody can catch the ball. Cam Ward played fine. He played good even, but nobody’s helping him out. Just hand it off. Plus, the run game was working. Just hand it off three times in a row. If you don’t get the first down, take the points. You go up by two points. Instead, you call multiple drop backs. You end up taking a massive two massive sacks from Cam Ward, which puts you in third and 22. And then on third and 22, you don’t even help him because Justin, I told you I’d throw it back to you. Just gross usage of uh play calling on third and 22. They run, I believe it was three, three receivers to one side of the field, right? like it was a three-level route combo. No crosser, no outlet. Like to me going into that third and 22, this is elementary stuff. We know the defense is going to play off. They’re going to concede a five, six yard gain. You’ve got a weapon at kicker in Joey Sly. I’m thinking quick slant, quick out. A screen might get you just a couple like you are in Joey Sly range in that situation. And you you call that everything was pretty much deep developing on that play. Again, it’s three receivers to one three rece one was a tight end, but three receivers to one level of the field and everything like how is there no outlet? Denver is literally I watch you watch red zone at the 100 pm window. Every team in that situation picks up like five, six yards and kicks a field goal. Like that is just such basic stuff. The play call was so horrendous. It It leads to Cam Ward taking a sack. He’s got nothing open. Everything is like pretty much everything’s 15 20 yards down the field. Uh that was for me maybe his worst play call of the day because it was the easiest play call to make. You just got to get like like even I don’t know that you run it three times, kick the field goal, but you know what? Meet me in the middle. If you run it two times from the 24 yardd line, you’re somewhere What are you in? Third and eight. third and nine. Like worst case scenario, right? You can throw a pass play then. And guess what, Braver? If you take one sack on that drive, if you take a sack on third and nine, you’re still within Joey Sly range most likely, right? Because if you’re third and nine from the 22 and you take a 10 yard sack, it’s like a 4950 yard field goal, which he made earlier with like 14 yards to spare. It looks like to me like if you take you run the ball twice and then you take a sack on third down, you’re still taking the lead like just really really horrendous play calling and and just all day in-game management from Brian Callahan. It was it was really really terrible. Let’s talk about the other thing that is um not always a direct reflection of coaching because we’ve talked about this on our show a few times that like sometimes the Chiefs and the Ravens have led the league in penalty yards and obviously we know that John Harbaugh and Andy Reid are great head coaches, but the Titans in this game, this is a this this is mind-blowing level stuff here. The Titans in this game had seven first downs. Okay, they gave up six sacks, which is almost as many first downs as they had. They committed 13 penalties for 131 yards. They had 133 total yards. They committed 13 penalties and they only converted seven first downs. This is the There’s undisiplined, there’s bad calls, and some of the calls in this game were a little ticky tack questionable. and they missed some pass interferences that the Broncos clearly committed against the Titans. And yeah, there’s some things you can complain about with the refs. I don’t know how Shawn Peyton won his second challenge. I don’t know how there was evidence to overturn that. I don’t know how Gunner Helm’s first catch wasn’t ruled a catch. But at the end of the day, you want to talk about we’ve eliminated beating ourselves. There was a great uh comment in here. It was like 10 minutes ago now, so I don’t know if I’m going to find it about how Brian Callahan was so proud of the team for leading the preseason in fewest penalty yards. 13 penalties and the worst one was committed by their best player. I mean, absolute Yes. Who, by the way, I’m sorry, who Paul Koharsski, I think, has alluded to in the past that he feels they don’t hold him accountable enough and that he’s got way too much leeway. I mean, that was dumb. Like, I saw people arguing the call. I I didn’t argue the call at all. As soon as I saw it, before the ref reached for the flag, I said, “That’s dumb. That’s going to get flagged.” Like forward progress was clearly stopped. They’re about to That guy’s got nowhere to go. Cody Barnes got him wrapped up. I have no idea why Jeffrey Simmons decides to shove him late that way. That was incredibly stupid. Incredibly stupid. So dumb. It was like and honestly like I I didn’t argue a whole lot of calls like Ammani Hooker had a face mask. Jarvis Brownley had a face mask. You want to talk about undisiplined? How about the James Williams ruffling like unnecessary roughness penalty on a kickoff return where they had made a good stop and he had to add 15 yards to. You want to talk about sloppy? Now this one might not be on Callahan. They got an illegal formation penalty on a kickoff. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen that before. They added five yards at the end of a kickoff. I’m like a legal formation on a kickoff. I mean, they talk like they spent so much time in the offseason playing tag and all this [ __ ] to bond and become disciplined. Third, what do they call them? Sins, self-inflicted negatives. They committed 13 of them for 131 yards. Sloppy, undisiplined, poorly coached, bad iname management, terrible play calling. There was a lot to hate about this coaching performance. Yeah. And I think, you know, this whole podcast is coming from a place of frustration. Again, if you’re just tuning in, we are live. Thank you for joining us. Be sure to hit that subscribe button, like the video, drop a comment below. Shout out to Sinkers Beverages, the premier wine, spirits, and beer store in East Nashville. Thanks everyone for joining us here. We’re going to close this out by taking some comments. So, send some questions in if you have any. We’ll we’ll fly some up and answer some uh for a couple of minutes, but real quick, Justin, let’s shout out some good performances cuz it wasn’t all bad. And some of the rookies looked looked pretty good. I thought on the first and second drive, Gunner Helm after the second Gunner Helm catch, the one that actually did count, I was like, “Holy crap, Gunner Helm is out here getting multiple targets in the first quarter. This guy’s going to be a major part of the offense, disappeared for the rest of the game. I’ll have to re-watch the tape. He might have been called in for pass protection or they might have not run as many plays with him or maybe he was only part of the scripted portion of the game plan. I’m not sure. But Gunner Helm looked good on the opportunities he had early on and there were a few other rookies that looked good as well.” Yeah, I mean Shimmer DK with the kickoff return at the end of the half to I don’t want to say almost save Brian Callahan at the end there, but it limited that mistake to a fourpoint mistake as opposed to a seven point mistake. Uh yeah, great question by Connor because Graver, you and I kind of disagreed on this one. I got to see it again. Um I I did not quite think that Alec I matter had that elbow down. Now I’m not going to sit here and say that I’m 100% certain because I’m not. But when I saw the sec they showed the replay twice. When I saw the second angle, I I thought it wasn’t down and and you seem to think it was uh would have been worth it. I mean, I hope I imagine Brad Callahan was asked about that in the postgame. We’ll address it uh maybe on I mean, Andrew is pretty sure that it was down. I I didn’t think it was down. Um I thought again, I’m sure Callahan’s going to get asked about it in the postgame and we’ll have an answer to talk about on tomorrow’s show, but I thought it probably wasn’t down. Yeah, I I thought it was down inbounds. I thought his elbow was down inbounds, but it was also, you know, it wasn’t easy to tell. And I’m also not going to sit here and say I know 100% it was down inbounds. But you have to throw the challenge flag. It’s third and 20. If you don’t, if that pass is incomplete, you haven’t converted anything all game. You’ve been struggling to move the ball on offense all game, which we expected to happen against the Denver defense, you you should throw the challenge flag. And I don’t know if that’s on Callahan necessarily. It might be on whoever’s supposed to spot those things and whistle down to him like, “Hey, this one’s worth the challenge flag.” Or maybe they saw something and said, “He is out of bounds. It’s not worth the challenge.” Maybe, maybe. Um, but from what I saw on the replay, the broadcast replay, I thought Ayam Maner’s elbow was down in bounds. I thought physically from where he caught the ball and how he landed, it had to be inbounds. Like I didn’t I don’t know how he would get all the way out of bounds from that angle that he was coming down on. But again, it might have been touching the sideline or something. Um, I want to answer this question here from Wrestling in a Nutshell. Did y’all see Nick Wright tweeted during the game that what Brian Callahan did on the drive before halftime was worse than anything Will Levis did last year? Yes, I retweeted that Nick Wright tweet actually. I agree with it. And uh, if you tuned in late, you missed my entire rant about it. I don’t know that it was worse, but it was really close to like the Bears interception, right? Like the Bears, let’s not, you know, be a prisoner of the moment. The Bears interception by Will Levis was as bad as it gets. And if I recall correctly, that Will Levis interception, that pick six, that was like on third down. Like you’re punting either way if you don’t make that stupid pick six that gave up the game. So, but it was up there. It It was really stupid and it was right sort of next. Uh, no, Denver did not impress me. I see that comment. I mean, they turned it over four times, by the way. Tit we didn’t mention Titans generated six points off those four turnovers and a lot like one of them they got possession on the Denver 23 yard line. Like that is just inexcusable to come away with no points. Yes, Big Jeff makes me want to stick my head in an oven. Yeah, that was just really dumb. This is a good question from Jacob that this is how we’ll close the show. So, thanks everyone again for tuning in. Um, it’s the last question we’ll answer. We will be back tomorrow with a fresh podcast. But first, do you think coaching consistency for Cam is worth the immense amount of development Callahan needs as a coach from Jacob Neil? This is a great question because this is going to be the dilemma the Titans are facing all season if things don’t turn around in a hurry. And now look, it’s week one. Week one is a liar. I think Mark Sanchez said on the broadcast, “Week one is a liar like your ex-wife.” And Adam Amin was like, “How much do you know about my personal life?” Um, stupid. But um, I think that there’s no amount of consistency that’s worth having what you know is a bad coach. And what we saw on the field today and all of last season tells us that Brian Callahan is just not a good head football coach in the NFL. He’s like a child who doesn’t not a child in the sense that he’s immature, but he’s like he’s just like it’s an un it’s like an amateur hour. It’s not professional, you know? Like Shawn Payeyton is a professional [ __ ] head coach who knows what he’s doing, who knows when to challenge and he used all of his challenges today and it was [ __ ] annoying to be on the other side because almost every time he challenged it was like he’s probably going to win that and we get annoyed that he’s going to change the outcome of the play we just saw except for the last one that we were like okay he’s definitely not winning that one. Chick definitely got the first down on that one. But um I don’t think there’s any amount of consistency that’s worth keeping someone you know is a bad head coach. I do think the timeline of like how long do does Cali last this season? Well, it depends. Like if we see multiple performances that looked like today where you have more you have almost twice as many penalties as first downs and you have inexcusable sequences of play calling that directly lead to the other team scoring touchdowns when they by the way were set to receive the ball after halftime already. um you don’t last very long. I mean 5 weeks, 6 weeks, if it looks like that now, I don’t expect it to look that bad again. If it does, Callahan should be fired immediately, but I don’t know that he will be. But in my opinion, there again, there’s no amount of consistency that’s worth keeping a bad head coach. And Cam Ward has already learned how many offenses. I mean, incarnate were Washington State, new offensive coordinator at Washington State, Miami, Tennessee. Like, he’s already learned five offenses at the college or professional level. I I hate to quote unquote stunt his development with something like that, but I’d rather develop him under somebody who knows what they’re doing and have to start fresh than continue with someone that, you know, isn’t doing it right. Yeah. I’m going to end this episode by addressing that question. And then, sorry, quickly, Jacob, if you missed our Jeffrey Simmons, I mean, we tore him apart for that penalty. We thought it was terribly stupid. They’re very lucky they were able to get the ball back at all. And and by the way, the Denver going forward on fourth down I thought was so stupid. Like they should have never they should have just I agree. That was that was a a gift. I agree with you. I I’ll end with this. Um the Titans have talked a lot about continuity. Like they want to have continuity. We know they have, you know, fired John Robinson, fired Mike Vrabel, fired Ran Carthon in really quick succession. They badly don’t want to do that again. Don’t worry, Jacob. Don’t apologize. they badly don’t want to do that again. Um, but there’s no level of coaching incompetence that you know there’s no level of continuity that makes coaching incompetence worth dealing with. I don’t know if I said that correctly, but you like as bad as you want continuity, you can’t force it, right? Like he’s got to be essentially what you said, right? Like he’s got to be worth keeping. And I agree. I think someone I’ll end with this. Someone left a comment in here, just a couple comments up. can’t see it right now without scrolling, but I I think that was probably Brian Callahan’s worst coach, worst coach game for the Tennessee Titans. I I thought they went three and 14 last year. They looked terrible. They looked unprepared in many games. But in terms of in-game coaching, ma management, and play calling, that was the worst game uh he’s ever had in my opinion. It really I don’t and I don’t think we’ll feel differently about that on Monday or Tuesday when we plan to deliver a bit of a more level-headed pod. Um I I think it was really bad. Uh Kevin, the you know the defense was really good. We’re going to talk about that a lot tomorrow I think because uh it was a lot better than I think anyone anticipated and we will get into that this week. Again remember this is a live recap. Monday and Tuesday we’re still talking about this game for the most part before we move on uh to Wednesday and Wednesday and Thursday we’ll move on to week two with the Rams. But uh Monday, Tuesday will still be about this game. So, we’ll be able to review the tape, see if our feelings have changed, expand on some of this a bit more, talk a lot more about the defense because we didn’t really talk about it today. Talk about legious need, you know, Famiola Deja, I thought, you know, had a couple of those schemed up pressures. So, we’ll get a lot when my book comes in. I’m staying in the glory day chapters. Read 99 and 2000 over and over again, my friend. That’s probably the best thing you can do. But I think that does it for this live edition of the Music City Audible. Titans lose. It was expected, but again, in the way uh that they lost was absolutely awful and uh and not okay. And again, cause for new concern. Brian Callahan’s worst game in my opinion as a Tennessee Titans head coach. And there there should be a lot of pressure on him uh in the press conference. I know they’re doing it right now. They’ve got through a lot of questions already. Excited to dissect that tomorrow. Yeah, me too. And uh like you said, shout out to the defense. We’ll break that down tomorrow. This is our instant reaction podcast. We are literally coming straight out of the game and sharing how we feel in this moment. And tomorrow, as I said at the top, will be more level-headed analysis. But we appreciate you all for tuning in. Thanks to everyone for watching. Make sure you hit that subscribe button again. Push us towards our goal. We’re trying to get to 4750. D was playing solid even with the penalties, forget the jugs machine for the butter fingers in the team and just sling more balls at them

    We again Sunday

  2. Just wait until after you see the press conference and Callahan exposes he doesn’t know simple rules like an elbow counts as two feet for a catch. He literally exposed he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

  3. The halftime debacle should put someone in the hot seat. I can't express how bad that was. Between that and the nonsensical play calling. I'm a Raiders fan, and i think I was as frustrated, if not more than Titans fans!!!

  4. Callahan didnt challenge the Ayo catch because he thought you needed a foot down too instead of just the elbow.

The guy holding the challenge flag doesn’t know the rules.

It’s gonna be a long year.

  5. It was so infuriating watching the running play formation calls in the 3rd and 4th quarter. It made NO sense! They should have at least spread them out to keep the defense guessing between a run or pass play option. But no! We line them up to where Ray Charles would know they were gonna run it down the pipe, thus allowing the defense to double down and allow us no yards….time after time again. That was pure stupidity and just burning up downs! Also, Cam needs more options to be able to dump the ball off fast, due to a TERRIBLE offensive line! Poor Cam had no chance! We need a new OC hands down….or should I say, keep Brain out of the calling. Just TERRIBLE!

  6. I'm looking forward to see the breakdown on the OL and how each individual player looked and how the defense performed. Hopefully in the building today is a "come to Jesus" moment for this team. So many self inflicted mistakes that it's tough right now to take solace in any of the positives.

And Callahan had better come to the presser today and own up to his own mistakes including not knowing the catch rule. Ughh….

  7. I guess it’s fashionable the pile on the HC rather than the players, but the coaches did not commit 131 yards in penalties and drop all those passes. Calvin Ridley cost the team this win. Jarvis Brownlee cost the team. the win . Dan Moore cost the team the win. And now you can add in about 10 other players who played really crappy football pretty much for 4 quarters.

I’m not a Callahan fan. I don’t think he’ll be a successful head coach, but I’ll give him credit. He had that team prepared to play their best. They were less talented and they played harder than the Broncos.

  8. Only problem I had with Ward was running backwards and making a bad play worse. He was pressured on 50% of his drop backs and had a bunch of drops. Plus the scheme looked like a 3rd grader put it together.

  9. I have always been suspect of Callahan's playcalling. I think last year was worse than most people realized, they just leaned toward Levis' inadequacies as the issue. Callahan was why the Titans lost this game. The first trip to the redzone was two horrible calls. The beyond awful end of half sequence. Not scoring points after the muffed point to take the lead. It's week 1, but I am already extremely concerned about his ability to be a head coach in this league, and even being a playcaller. His seat is already hot.

  10. Enjoyed the show although more enjoyable after a win. I think it is interesting that the defense, minus the penalties was really good and shows promise for a good solid unit. And the special teams was really good. What was bad? The offense, the line, the play calling and the decisions which all fall on what Callahan was hired for, the offense side of the ball.

  11. Love the raw reactions, it's definitely appropriate. We deserve better, as a fan my expectations aren't crazy. I just want a football team that looks like they know what they are doing. Waiting on today's episode. Titan Up.
