THE RETURN! π Jacob deGrom will pitch at Citi Field for the first time since leaving the Mets!
Well, the Gro’s pushing the season. Probably has a couple of more starts trying to get to that kind of magical double figures mark as you see his Caesars’s numbers from this year. I think he’s the front runner personally for the rookie of the year. His stats have just been through the roof, but still got to finish strong. Two to Yelich and he struck him out and that’s how the game begins. Deg Grom with the strike out. Well, there’s no fear in this kid. He gets behind you and he he turns it up a notch. Set balls right down the middle but by yell 2-2 swung on and missed. Strike three. Another strike out for Deg Grom. 3-2 coming and McGee takes strike three call. Deg Grom strikes out the side of the opening inning and he starts the second the same way. Ozuna caught looking. That’s four in a row to start the night. One two to Justin Boore. He struck him out. That is five in a row to start the night for Jacob Deg Grom. Struck him out. Jacob Deg Grom ties a Mets club record by striking out the first six batters of the game. Edavor Maria down swinging two. Strike three call. Jacob Deg Grom the first man ever to strike out seven in a row to start a game. Two two to Matis. Strike three call. Jacob Deg Grom ties the major league record. Eight consecutive strikeouts to begin the night. It’s Jacob Deg Grom in the right-hander on a staff loaded with young talent. There you go. The reason why he has such a forward release. Watch the late life on this fast ball. It’s almost Pedro Martinez like the way he has extension on the fast ball. Here comes a one-two from Deg Grom. How about back-to-back strikeouts? The best stuff we’ve seen all night in my opinion belongs to this guy, Jacob Deg Grom. Wow. Hi, I’m Jacob Deg Grom. And I have the chance with my stuff to just dominate baseball for years to come. This young man has a flare for the dramatic rookie of the year last year and the All-Star game this year. And Grondal strikes out for route number two. So Deg Grom wins that battle at 98 mph at 97. Strike three to Hernandez. He strikes out Seager for out number two. What a change up. What a pitch right there. See the release coming out of his fingers. pulled the string on Aegon and back-to- back strikeouts to end the second. Still a 2-1 game as we head to the third. Right back to Deg Grom. He’s going to go to second for one to first. Double play. Deg Grom gets out of a first and third situation. Throws a strike to second, starts the double play, and it’s still a two-1 game. And Seager fooled for strike three. There it is. He blows away Gonzalez to start the fifth. Steer right three called and Gro again. Pitches out of trouble. Five innings in the books in game five all tied to the gap in right center field. Randerson with a long run, but he makes the play and that is the first one, two, three inning for Jacob Deg Grom to the plate and he struck him out and the New York Mets have won the series and they will meet the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series. The Mets come to LA and beat the Dodgers to win the series. Trying to lock down a Sai Young award. Trying to become only the fourth Met pitcher to win one. 259 Ks in those 209 innings. One two to Flowers. Struck him out. First strike out of the night for Deg Grom. Leaves him now just nine shy of a thousand for his career. Double play ball if they hurry. McNeel to Rosario and a double play ends the inning. 463. They double up Albz. No score going to the bottom of the second. Struck him out. Slider gets Coerson. Second strike out for Deg Grom. One down in the third. Seems like Jacob is kind of settling in. And he strikes out Nukem with a slider. Back-to-back strikeouts for Jake against the eight and nine hitters. That’s his third of the night. Margo takes strike three called and that’s the first out. Wow. 3-2 coming to Flowers and he struck him out with a slider. Backto back strikeouts for Deg Grom to start the fifth. That was a smart pitch. Why? Keith was talking about how he was beating him upstairs. This is only his second three ball count. And he strikes out Ruiz with a fast ball. Number six for Deg Grom. He’s now retired 13 in a row. Seventh pitch of the at bat to Akuna and he just got a piece of that. Or did he? He missed it for strike three. Meocco chases it down and the throw gets away and Akuna is safe at first. They throw in behind him for the tag and he’s out. He took the turn. Smart play by McNeel to throw it back to first and Akun is out. Line toward the middle. Caught by McNeel. Oh wow. Flying through the air with the greatest of ease. Jeff McNeel. What a play. Well, he went and took a look up there in the big screen. This is a heck of a play. I thought this ball had base hit written all over it. Got him looking side retired. Strike out number eight for Jacob Deg Gro. One, two coming. Got him looking. Number nine for Deg Grom. Two down in the eighth. He struck him out. A thousand strikeouts for the masterful Jacob Deg Grom. 31 starts. Fine. ERA. How about the strikeouts to walk ratio? That’s on the outside corner. Got him looking at a slider. Strike out number 249 for Deg Grom. Two out of the first. And he strikes out Alaro with the slider. That’s his second strike out. Number 250 on the season for Deg Grom. So back-to- back seasons of 250 plus strikeouts and he pulls the bat back and wraps it up the middle from base hit. Frasier was in motion. He’ll go first to third. Beautifully done by Deg Grom. His 13th of the year as he pulled the bat back for the hit run and the Mets are runners at the corner. And Brinson tried to hold but he went around for strike three. Third strike out of the night for Deg Grom. One out of the third on the inside corner. Diaz caught up looking at the change up and goes away an unhappy customer. The fourth strike out for Degron. And now five as he gets Brinen for the second time. Five scoreless for Deg Gro. That’s 21 scoreless innings in a row. 10 in a row. had six strikeouts now for Jake and he’s making it look easy and he strikes out Walker for his seventh of the night. It was just a a walk in the park for him right there that change up. Well, the Toyota numbers for Jacob Deg Grom are always great but even in Colorado he’s had two starts RA just two and a half and Story goes down swinging and Deg Grom’s got his first strike out of the day. One, two, three for Jake. So, two- two coming. Fast ball strike three call. That’s the best fast ball he’s thrown yet. And he comes inside again and strikes him out on three pitches here in New York at this point. And Nunes goes down on the slider and Deg Grom strikes out three in a row to strand a pair. Topia on deck. And then Ryan McMahon for the Rockies in the third. And Gonzalez goes down swinging on the high fast ball to figure out how they’re off. This guy takes two or three pitches and he blows away top. He at 101 miles an hour. Different road today. And he blows him away upstairs. Deg Grom strikes out the side. He’s fanned the last six hitters. Deg Grom on a roll. And Stories foul tips one for strike three. And that’s seven in a row for Deg Grom. Again, the two- two to Blackman and he struck him out. Eight in a row for Jacob Deg Grom. That ties his career best this quick. One, two coming. He struck him out. Nine in a row for Jacob Deg Grom. 10 strikeouts for the day. One strikeout shy of history. And Hillyard strikes out on the slider. That’s 11 now for Deg Grom. It’s continuing in this at bat against McMahon, but he comes back to strike him out with a change up. Shouldn’t have given up a run. Yep. And Blackman, did he go around? He did. Strike three. Number 13 for Deg Grom. Rally and somebody else finished the bottom of the seventh. Swing and a miss. Cone is down on strikes. Second consecutive start for Jacob Deg Grom. Number 42 as are all the Mets and Nats. Mets were rained out of Jackie Robinson Day on their last home stand. Oh boy, three fast balls in a row and Stevenson is caught looking at 101. And that’s how Deg Grom’s night begins. And he strikes out Harrison. And Deg Grom’s got backto back strikeouts to start the night. And he blows away Bell with 100 mph fast ball. That’s his third strike out. Two. And he struck him out. Four strikeouts in the first two innings for Deg Grom. And Robos goes around and he’s a quick strikeout victor for Deg Grom who now has five for the night and 40 for the year. A new Mets club record for strikeouts in the first four starts of a year. And was an ugly half. Oh boy. And the slider strikes him out. Masterfully done by Deg Grom for his seventh strikeout over the first three and a third. And he goes down on the change up. And that’s how Deg Grom gets his eighth strike out. Eight Ks in four innings for the Degraminator. And he strikes out Castro on three breaking balls. Nine strikeouts for Deg Grom. And he just keeps on rolling. And Jake slashes one to left field for a base hit. And that’ll bring in the game’s first run. Davis scores. Mcneel to third. He’ll be held up there. Opposite field double for Jacob Deg Grom and the Mets have a one- nothing lead. We put him in the eight hole like a hitter. He delivers like a hitter and gets himself a run. His fifth hit in nine at bats. He now has a fivegame hitting streak going back to 2019. And Mercer goes down on strikes. Another double-digit strikeout performance for Deg Grom. The 49th of his major league career. And Stevenson down swinging. at 100 mph gas. 11 strikeouts for Jacob Deg Grom. Struck him out. The masterful Jacob Deg Grom strikes out the side in the six. That’s an even dozen. And Jake gets him for the second time. That’s 13 for Deg Grom. 48 in his first four start, tying a major league record. The one two. He struck him out. 14 for a third straight start. One, two, in there for a call. Strike three. A careerhigh 15 strikeouts for Jacob Deg Grom. Ground ball charge by Lindor. Side retired. Jake goes without a strike out in the eighth, but he’s retired 16s in a row. Take an RBI double in the fifth inning to drive in the game’s first run. and he lines this one into right field and he’s got his second hit of the night. He is just a phenomenon. You can have your Otani. Nets have their own two-way star. Jacob Deg Grom has three complete games, including one shutout in his major league career. He’ll be bidding for both tonight. He now has the best erra for a career in Mets history. He passed Tom Siver. The Mets may be in enemy territory, but plenty of Met fans have made the trip to Pittsburgh and as Jacob Deg Grom took them out for the bottom of the first inning. And Hayes flails at one after taking two sliders out of the strike zone. Swung at one that was just as firmly out of the strike zone and three straight fast balls and he gets Newman looking and that’s his second strike out. Pirates he ended up in 1944. Delay went around strike three and that’s the second out. 3-2 coming and he struck him out. Tyler Nuin who has run with it the last couple of days as Castro goes down swinging and the fast ball gets Hayes looking play and he got him 100 mph fast ball and the back foot slider swung in foul tipped or did he miss? He missed it for strike three. Seven scoreless innings lowers Deg Gro to 1.66. That’s good, right? Oh, if I’ll take it. Big ovation from the Mets crowd here in Pittsburgh. through that 2015 postseason. He never never pitched at home. So this is Jacob Deg Grom’s maiden voyage in the playoffs in front of his home crowd in what interestingly could be if it doesn’t go well his last game pitching in front of this group as the home crowd leader 22 to Juan Sodto late on it 102 he’s gone Jacob Deg Grom lived at 100 miles an hour and above two from the righty see you later Jacob Deg Grom what a start for the Mets and their fans fan base. Fourth strikeout for Deg Grom. Here comes the 2-2. He struck Machado out in the first inning. Got him again. Big strikeout for Deg Grom. Machado unable to deliver Proar or Sodto.
