‘SIGN OF DISASTER!’ 😳 – Cam Newton’s PLAYER PERSPECTIVE on Miami’s players-only meeting | First Take

head to Miami as the Dolphins had a players only meeting after their 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in week one. Daniel Jones. The meeting was to address the team’s performance, ensure everyone was on the same page, reaffirm goals, and a belief after starting a discouraging way to the season. RC, please take me through this through a players perspective. Is a playersonly meeting after week one a bad sign? Absolutely, it’s a bad sign. You don’t have playersonly meetings because you don’t believe in a player’s physical ability to play the game. You have a playersonly meeting because you don’t believe in the players in the locker room’s football character. You don’t believe in the relationships that you’ve built. You don’t believe in the fact that everybody is on one accord. Everybody is working in the same manner to reach the same goal. And so now when you start to have those conversations, I’ve never had a players only meeting where we talked about scheme. I’ve never had a players only meeting where we talked about X’s X’s and O’s. I never had a players only meeting where we talked about weekly structure of how we went about our business. We had players only meeting because this guy had a problem with that guy. We had a players only meeting because this dude didn’t feel like that dude was doing what he needed to do to carry the team. And if you look at the off seasons of the Miami Dolphins, it seems like they’ve been having these playersonly meetings publicly through the media. And so now finally they figured out the fact that now that we ain’t getting along, now that we not vibing, now that we not working together, it also shows up on the scoreboard when we get our doors blown off in week one by Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts. You have a players only meeting because the sky is falling, not because the sun is shining. Cam, uh, I mean, I’m with RC 110%. I’ve never had a players only meeting when everything was going good. Why is because when everything is going good, players are vibing in the cafeteria. Players are vibing in the in in in the workout facilities, in the training rooms, and things like that. Player only meeting is a sign of disaster. The sky is falling, and I’m touching it for all the wrong reasons. And this is the thing, too, that I’m that I’m peeping up in uh in in in Miami. I don’t really like talkative Tua. Over the last month or so of this whole off seasonason, we’ve heard more from Tua Tonka Valoa than we have ever have. I’m saying to myself, bro, I like quiet Tua. I like Alabama Tua when all he did was just work. Maybe it was the the the the blonde tips or certain things like that. But it’s like, when we’re getting to a point where our quarterback is talking about, you know, I want to see if somebody’s gonna watch film. Hey, I’m gonna see this or yes, he has to apologize for or insinuating certain things. It’s It’s getting real messy. And also, not to just, you know, rag on Tua, well, Tyreek Hill. Like, and we’re hearing more about Tyreek Hill off the field than actually on the field for obvious reasons. And I’m not going to touch that point. But for this whole situation in in in Miami, it’s a recipe for destruction. And if they do not fix that, it’s not going to farewell. SA, that’s the player’s perspective. Let me give you the media’s perspective. It’s heaven for the reporters down there cuz there’s no shortage of stuff to write about or talk about. Nothing at all. You ain’t even got to work. They had they handing it to you. You know the team. You got football players that are not me, not pundits, not commentators. You have football players calling the Miami Dolphins soft. You have the statistics that show in 40 degree weather or less, they might as well not even show up. They don’t they don’t want to play. We all know the distractions. Take it from me. We know the distractions in South Beach. There’s a lot there’s a lot. You understand what I’m saying? There’s a lot of stuff to do. Okay? So, you you could get yourself in trouble in that way. The sun is going to shine tomorrow. They act like it, they talk like it, they play like it. That’s why they suck. They’re they’re they’re pathetic. And when you look at Mike McDaniels, his tricks, his gimmickry, his gadget type of coaching that is no longer working. Ain’t been in the playoffs the last two years. You Tyreek Hill ain’t nobody tell you to leave Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. You did that. You went there and you could have left for the money and that would have been cool cuz everybody understand that. But what did you do? You talked about Tonga like he was comparable to Patrick Mahomes. That was a mistake. Okay. Now you’ve got a situation where Tyreek Hill is on the sidelines engaging in all kind of histrionics drawing the camera to here for the wrong reasons on the sideline after doing it last year driving to the damn game. They’ve made more news off the field than they have on the field because of the nonsense that is going on there. Change is coming to Miami and it needs to. No question about it because they’re not a team. They’re just a team. They’re just guys with talent. It seems like there’s a lot of question marks with the culture for sure. See RC, this white sport coat, this printed shirt, the Vegas strip, the breeze, the sunshine. This doesn’t happen by accident. Welcome back. We have an AFC North rivalry this week. Both teams will be looking for their first win of the season when Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens host Joe Flacco and the Cleveland Browns who are coming up close losses to the Bills and Bengals, respectively. As far as Cleveland, they aren’t buying Baltimore’s hype. hearing um Baltimore secondary a lot. I know one name back there. Just what is what are the challenges that that presents to you guys as you receive? Um no challenges. How hard is he to bring down? Not hard. Derek, did you get a chance to see Grant Delit? Uh he said that you’re not hard to tackle. Do you have a reaction? I mean I see I saw that I saw his his coach had a tweet. He mean a quote and you know he had a quote. We’ll see you on Sunday. Okay, Cam. Is the Browns trash talk smart or dumb? Um, I don’t know. We going to see. I think uh there’s a saying, old saying that says don’t let your mouth write a check that your behind can’t cash. Uh Dale Pit, respectfully, brother, Chase Brown is not King Henry. And last, you know, coming off last week’s performance, what is it? 41 in total offense, 95 yards of pass and offense versus a very explosive uh uh offense, might I add. And 46 yards rushing versus the Cincinnati Bengals. It is going to be night and day. Uh do I like it? Uh it’s not my cup of tea, but at the end of the day, from a fans perspective, I love this type of energy. And all I say is just back it up, bro. Because everybody is going to be paying attention to what the Cleveland Browns have to say. Did they play a a good enough game to win? Yes. But a coach always said when you play just a good enough to win, you also play just good enough to lose. And they lost last week. Obviously, legendary uh basketball trainer and Stephen A knows this man. Tim Grover, he wrote a book called Relentless. And in that book, he said, “The price of talk never goes up. It’s always free and you get what you pay for.” They just talking. And not only are they just talking, they are full of crap. I don’t care how well you think you played against the Cincinnati Bengals. You know who Derek Henry is. You know the man that has 108 touchdowns. You know the man that has 11,600 yards. And see what people do, right? Whose play has earned them the right to respect. Whose play has earned them the right to feel like a league success. You ain’t got to tell nobody. When Dererick Henry was asked, “Yes, this man that’s going to be a future Hall of Famer about what the coach said, about what Grant Delpit said, what did Dererick Henry say?” He said, “We’ll see you on Sunday.” Why? Because that’s when the game is played. And throughout Derk Henry’s career, when the game has been played, Dererick Henry has not only shown up, but he’s shown out. And so, when you think about the secondary and uh Jerry Judy, right? Ah, they don’t pose a threat or they don’t have anything back there. Jerry Judy made his first Pro Bowl last year. Jerry Judy’s a first round pick who is incredibly talent. On the other side, they got Kyle Hamilton who’s the highest paid safety in the league. They got Marlon Humphrey who is an allp pro and a pro bowler. They got Nate Wiggins who’s a firstround draft pick. You have Malachi Starks who’s a first round draft pick. Sometimes this game is about respect and it’s about being able to say that based on my play, I don’t need to talk because when you cut the film on, you know who I’m going to beat. The Baltimore Ravens don’t have to whistle by the graveyard because they are the Reapers and Cleveland Browns may have talked themselves into finding out this week. I appreciate that the eloquence of that argument, RC, but uh before I before I get into this, can I ask you and Cam to remind me of something? Isn’t there random drug testing in the in the National Police League? I mean, they can just show up and just decide to test you. Is that true? I mean, isn’t that true? Like they they it’s random. They It’s not It’s not scheduled. They can roll up on you and just say, “You know what? We need you, you know, I mean, we need you to urinate in this cup. You know, we got the test right now, right? We can they can do that, right? They Hey, listen. It is clear. It it it is clear they on something. It is clear that the NFL league office should ro if I’m Roger Goodell in the league office. I’m just picking up the phone to my detail and I’m like, “Yo, head down to Cleveland right now and test a few of those players cuz something wrong with them.” This is Derek Henry we talking about. This is a future Hall of Famer. Oh, by the way, in the two games he played against him last year, I remember correctly, was it 31 carries for like 231 yards, averaging about 6.8 yards a carry, three touchdowns, and by the way, a manchild that just swatched grown ass men aside, okay, like paper. That’s who they decide they want to talk stuff to. Clearly, they are on something. I I’m not gonna accuse it of being a water in Lake Erie because most people in Cleveland are absolutely safe. They just ain’t on a damn defensive unit for the Cleveland Browns right now. That’s the damn problem. And the other problem is attention seeking. They know with Flaco and Judy and the cats that they got, even though they’re good, they’re not what they hope to be. So they want to bring attention to themselves. They want to make sure everybody knows who they are. You understand? because you don’t have an office that’s going to do it for you collectively and make the Browns successful. They know this that and a few of them being sprinkled with some kind of sauce that we don’t know much about. We’ve seen it before though, something wrong. They need to get tested immediately. And I wouldn’t be surprised if at some time within the next few days, we hear about the NFL literally conducting random drug tests for the Cleveland Browns. Mark my words, we read about it in the news cuz something wrong with her. I know you like to say stay off the weed, but here’s what I’m going to tell you. That ain’t weed. That’s a designer drug. That ain’t weed. That’s what I’m saying. That ain’t weed. You didn’t hear me say weed. I would have said stay off the weed. But that ain’t weed. That’s something else. That’s something else. Derek Henry, of all the people, of all the people to talk about, that’s who y’all want to talk about. They on something. They on something. It’s bold. Let’s keep it pushing, guys, and head to the NFC now where the Eagles head to Arrowhead. They’re taking on Patrick Mahomes in the Chiefs. Now, the last time these two teams saw each other, Eagles dominated Kansas City 40-22 in the Super Bowl. [Music]

  1. Where is the coverage, from the last 3 days of The Charlie Kirk Assasination?? To the people who question, well, this isn't a sports take. Well, what sports did george floyd play??

  2. Steven A and Ryan need to be drug tested for what they was wearing. Ryan looking like a black Joker with that purple suit and Steve A looking like a broke down Tubbs from Miami Vice. Let them guys talk trash if they want to. It's not the first time somebody ever talked trash to a good player. So, if they actually limit Henry to a subpar day all 3 of them are gonna have to eat their words. Last time I checked Myles Garret was still on the team. Their defensive line is different from last year, but I will wait for the highlights and box score stats.

  3. Chris Grier is the common denominator for failure. He's the issue. You also need a boss with a firm grip. Kid Coach can't handle it. Spoiled players, too much money, too much fun in South Beach.

  4. Well its not just Browns players who have opened their big mouths this week, its also the Cleveland media for believing the idea of the Ravens intentionally planning to celebrate their 30th Season as a franchise against the Browns as a way to rub it in their faces.
