Matt Chapman’s one-game suspension for shoving Colorado’s Kyle Freeland is no more.

The Chronicle has learned the San Francisco Giants third baseman’s appeal was successful and only the original fine for his actions Sept. 2 at Coors Field will stand.

  1. I’m surprised, mainly because when was the last time you’ve seen a successful appeal, especially one completely avoiding a suspension? I’ll take it though.

  2. In theory, he served his suspension when he was ejected. He didn’t take the field when a pitch was thrown, nor did he take an AB.

  3. Kind of called it a week ago, glad it was logical (or crazy) enough for the commissioner’s office.
