🔴LIVE 🔴Detroit Tigers VS Miami Marlins /September 12/Mlb Envivo /MLB THE SHOW 25
League baseball on MLB The Show. It’s the Detroit Tigers taking on the Miami Marlins. And now, please welcome. First pitch coming your way next. Miami Marlin. Just about ready to go. And on the mound today, Tyler Phillips. What’s the word on him? Well, coming into this game, hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher. So, it just shows you how effective he’s been. He’s been able to move his pitches around, add and subtract, change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable, and start squaring up the baseball. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. Okay, all set to go now. It’s the second baseman, Glabber Torres. And there’s the strike of the outside corner. And this one is off and running. Next offering in there for a strike and it’s 0 and two. Fights it off. He’ll see another. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Way outside. Going to count one and two. See if he can go upstairs a little bit. Make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading the count one two. Don’t miss in the zone because that’s where you get hurt. Rightander kicks steals out to short. A Costa, zips it across. One up, one down. Let’s take a check of the Tigers lineup. And a key factor for this club in that leadoff spot, Glbert Torres. And Boo, he’s a fun at bat to watch. I mean, definitely a threat whenever he’s got that bat in his hands. But for me, it’s it’s all about the mechanics. They’re so sound and when he gets his foot down on time and starts his swing, so much consistency. That bat stays in the zone for a long time and he squares up the baseball a lot. Carrie Carpenter in the box now. No balls in a strike. Looks like he’s sacrificed to pitch right down the middle for tracking and timing. Some good hitters will do that. and misses inside. [Music] Swing and a miss. Chased it out of the zone. One out. Base is empty. A short stop. Takes a ball. It’s in and out of his glove and they get him. The misplay made it a bit messy, but they clean things up for the out. Batting third leftielder Riley Green. Here’s Riley Green and Singy. We already know he’s going to finish the season with a new careerhigh in home runs. That one ripped right center field back there and it’s gone. A solo shot. It’s one- nothing. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. A good hitter gets pitch recognition early. He saw exactly where that was going to be. The challenge, not get over anxious and come out of your swing. He stayed on it and got all of it. Spencer Torqulson in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. Tap foul at the plate. [Music] Waves at the bender for the strike out. Solo shot for Detroit this inning. It’s now a one- nothing ball game. Back here with my pal Singy and today’s starting pitcher, Sawyer Gibson Long. And Chris, pitching on the road has not been particularly kind to him. Yeah. And you don’t want to be too quick to say that he can’t pitch on the road. Sometimes, you know, it’s just a matter of luck. It’s not having a feel difference between the bullpin mound to the mound out there on the playing field. Don’t know what it is, but I know this. He’s got good enough stuff to overcome and get it done on the road as well as at home. So, we’ll see what he’s able to do in this one. And time now for the Marlins lineup. Getting guys across the plate not exactly a forte for them this year as their offense is in the bottom third of the league in runs scored. Boo. It becomes extremely frustrating. And then what happens is guys press, especially in run scoring opportunities and situations. On top of that, I mean, you really make it harder on your pitcher. He feels like he’s got to be perfect to go out there and win a ball game or at least to put the team in a position to win a ball game. So, they’ve got to figure out a way to relax, get those runners across when they have them on and especially when they’re in scoring position. And here’s the rookie center fielder, Jacob Marcy. Seems like he’s making contact with everything lately. Hits in each of the last six games. Oh, now this one’s high and deep. Way back there on its way gone. He’ll take a jog around the bases. His second home run of the series. And they add a pair. It’s 21. He only needed one swing to square it up. Not wasting any time in that at bat. Boo. Aggressive and it paid off. [Applause] Well, Boo, clearly some frustration out there on the mound right now. I mean, that ball was so close to going foul. Would have been a long strike, but instead batter gets rewarded. Did a nice job of getting to the pitch and hitting it hard enough to get over the fence. Ariberto Hernandez now in the box. Comes up empty with a swing there. Well struck right field. That’s back. Makes the catch up against the wall. batting fifth first base number 33. That’s a really nice job right there. Great awareness making the catch up against the wall. You see the perfect technique, feeling for the wall with the bare hand while keeping his eyes on the baseball as it’s coming down his glove in a good position to make the catch. That’s exactly how you do it. Eric Wagaman stands in now and watches strike one. Just missed. Two outs. Base is empty. So a foul ball makes it one and two. Good job to fight that one off the other way and that’s a base hit. Joey gets on base and keeps it going. [Music] Joey Wemer the next up for the Marlins. We in there for a strike at the bottom of the zone. Wagaman off of first with two away. Let’s go. Next pitch way upstairs. Swung on. Belted and a foul ball and a one-two. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Hit in the air right field. Perez under this one. He’s there. He’s got it. And that’s the inning. But two come across to score in the inning courtesy of this two-run homer. And this is now a 2-1 ball game. Back here in Miami and here is Wel Perez. Perez. Well, after putting up a nice inning on offense, got some runs across. This is where you look for the starter to go out there, have a shutdown inning. Don’t give that other team any. That one is absolutely belted and it’s a one hopper off the wall. Should be extra bases and that’s a leadoff double. Well, clearly he was ready to hit right there. Just a cookie down the middle. I mean, those are the ones you dream about. The ones in the cage you’re just hoping you get in the ball game. Right down the middle. Not a whole lot of velocity. Right on top of it. Now, a pretty big at bat coming up with a chance to even this ball game up. Runner in scoring position. No outs. And now Colt Keith that misses the zone. And that’s ball one. [Music] man at second. Check swing and he went and it’s one and one. [Music] That one the other way down the line and it’s fouled. Hit in the air left field. Hernandez sizes this one up and there’s one down. Batting seven catcher Dylan Dingler. Now the catcher up to hit. Dylan Dingler. Listen, there’s absolutely no reason to pitch to this guy right here. You nibble, you see if he’ll expand his zone, but don’t give him anything to hit. If you walk them, not a big deal. You have a double play opportunity set up. Tying run and scoring position here in the top of the second. And that one fouled off. [Music] swings through it and that’s a strike down. He’s really good hitting the baseball the other way. So, credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch. Clearly, he had him fooled. Next is the Tigers DH Parker Meadows. [Applause] Pitch misses. One and0. Two outs and one in scoring position. Fast ball for a strike. Definitely not a pitch location you’re expecting up there as a hitter when you know the guy’s got a good sinker ball. If he can get in that location, boy, you’ve got to look top to bottom and that’s going to make it very difficult to hit. Man on second, two down. And downstairs, Javier Bayz in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. the 3-1. So now two on and two outs. First and second, two outs. And now it’s Bayz. I’m curious how he decides to attack on the mound. This guy at the plate has been great hitting under pressure this year. Base hit. That was smoked through the infield. The run comes in to score from second. It’s an RBI single. We are tied at two. Well, there you go. The RBI machine. Another clutch runscoring at bat. Yeah, he’s been so good in these situations. Call it clutch if you want, but his resume speaks for itself. Glabber Torres up to hit. He’s been really clutch with runners in scoring position this season, so they’ll have to be extra careful in this matchup. Here’s a rocket out to left. That’s down. One hops off the wall. One runs in. Here comes Bayz around third. Head first slide and he’s safe. 42 now. Everything came together for him. Solid swing from start to end. On time with everything. Really good balance. Nice extension and he met it out front for the line drive knock. So runner at second, two down. Carrie Carpenter digs in now. 0 for one. He grounded out to first his last time. The shorts stop takes a ball. Torres at second with two down. [Music] And a swing and a miss there. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Kane Gibson preparing to come on if needed. Junk getting loose as well. And that’s downstairs and outside. Ruer at second. Two down in the dirt. Finish him. Two outs. Got him looking. Inning ends and that stops the bleeding. But three score in the inning. Two of them on this two-run double. It’s now 42. Back here at Lone Depot Park, we head to the bottom of the second. And now it’s going to be Moximo A. Costa. Ah, Gibson Long back to work. Fought off foul saying he wasn’t very sharp in the first. Got hit around a little bit. Just wasn’t able to locate particularly well. A lot of stuff at the fat part of the plate. Yeah, Boo. He wasn’t fooling anyone. It’s a tough place to be cuz it’s not always obvious what adjustments need to be made. Sometimes it’s location. Sometimes it’s being too predictable. Sometimes you’re tipping your pitches. He’s going to need to figure it out quickly though. Torres hauls it in and there’s one away. Batting eight catcher numbered now at the plate. Good power. Not great in the OBP department. And the first pitch misses for ball one. That one missed. Ricky Holiday, our umpire behind the dish, known as pretty fair umpire for both hitters and pitchers. Yeah, I think that’s right, Boo. There is a little inconsistency on the corners of the plate. You can’t always be sure how it’s going to go with those borderline pitches as the game progresses. Next offering in there for a strike. That’s strike one. Man, this guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today. And that’s him for a strike. And now two and two and a swing and a miss. Beat him with a fast ball. Thought it was a pretty good pitch. Top of the strike zone. We’re seeing more fast balls in that location. Hitters, especially with two strikes, have to be ready to pull the trigger. And now here is Javier Senoha. And that’s through there for a strike. 0 and one. And one Two down, nobody on and that just misses. One ball, two strikes. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. One and two now. That’s [Applause] and that one a little bit high. Really good take especially with two strikes. [Music] Cut on and miss. Struck him out. And it’s a one, two, three inning and the Marlins down quietly. They trail it here four-2. We’re back to start the third and there’s a new arm on the mound, Kade Gibson. And as relievers go, he’s not a big strikeout guy. He tries to force weak contact, so command and execution are huge for him. Now the left fielder, Riley Green. He’s already homered here in this one. Taken high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect label over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level. And a first pitch fastball is in for a strike. Green 24 years old, a former first round pick back in 2019. And it’s fouled away. This one in the air. Senoha makes the grab. One down. Now batting first base. Spencer Torqulson up now for the Tigers. He struck out swinging at his first at bat. Miami. That clips a corner right through there for a strike. Two really good backto-back sliders now in an 02 count. He’s feeling real confident about finishing this hitter off. He can go anywhere he wants inside. Almost got him. And it’s even up. And that’s outside. on the ground to third sends it across to first and they get Torqulson for the out. Up next for the Tigers, right fielder Wel Perez. Yeah, the batter now, Wel Perez doubled his first time. [Music] That one’s in there. And that’s strike one. Slice to right and it stays fair. Now he’ll turn for second and he’s got his second double of the game. Couple of hits in a row for him here. Nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line. You know hitters they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field and it doesn’t always translate into the game, but right there it did and he did it perfectly. So digging in Colt Keith, he’s 0 for one and that’s in there at the knees. Paris at second with two down. That’s in there. And that’s strike two. Perhaps not quite ready to hit. First two pitches by him for a couple of strikes. Now back is against the walls. Going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly. stays alive. [Music] One ball, two strikes. Strike him out on the ground right side. Edwards tosses to first and that is the inning. Tigers leave one as they can’t add to their 4-2 lead. And we’re back ready to go for the last half of the inning. Here’s the second base, Xavier Edwards. Edwards. And ball one. That’s ripped to right down the line and foul ball. Ball and a strike. Drops one down in front of the plate. Not in time. He bunks his way aboard to lead off the frame. He was racing down the line and probably didn’t assume he was going to be safe until his foot hit the bag and looked up for the umpire. Nice bunt and great hustle to get himself a knock. Augustine Ramirez the next up for the Marlins. One for one with a single so far. throw to first and he’s back in there. Now, this team is definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here. Try to close that gap. But, you know, at the very least, if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first, it feels like it’s really important to getting back into this ball game. Nobody out. Runner at first. Ruer takes off. Pitch outside. throw save. That’s a stolen base. Well, with that kind of elite arm he has behind the plate, man, it’s a pretty big deal when you can swipe a bag against this dude. Maybe more than anything, it prevents teams from just testing him thinking that they can even steal a base. But right here, they successfully move that runner up to scoring position. Good job. And they’re swinging a miss. Got him. And he’s registered three Ks in this one. Just a great slider right there. And I think the key for pitchers and what hitters don’t want to see is if a pitcher misses with that pitch that he misses off the edge of the strike zone rather than in the middle of the strike zone. And right there, excellent execution and it finished up in a perfect spot. Now the batter now, Jacob Marcy, first pitch doesn’t find the zone and fouled off. [Music] That clips the zone. It’s a ball in two strikes. Good slider down and in can be so hard to get on plane with. You’re better off taking that pitch. Rips that one to right. drops in for a hit. Couldn’t run it down around third. The relay throw. He’ll score. It’s 43. Well, that may end up being an at bat we go back to later on when this game is over. Nice line drive to the pull side. Met it out front, but just stayed through it nice enough and ripped it into the outfield. One out, runner at second. Here’s the left fielder, Ariberto Hernandez. First pitch and he just misses. As a pitcher, you know the runner on second is ready to push things with his speed. A base hit is probably going to be a big run. So, you really have to execute on the mound. The one-1 out of bounds right side. Torres throws to first in time. Two away. Now batting number 33. And at the plate for Miami, Eric Wagaman, a single his first time. This is what stat nerds like myself might call a high leverage situation. Yeah, Boo. Not sure what the numbers say, but clearly an at bat that could change the course of this game dramatically. First pitch misses. Marcy on third with two out. This one in the air center field and that will end the inning. Marlins get a run on the RBI double. It’s now a 43 ball game. Welcome back. And now on the mound to start the fourth, Jansen Junk just trying to keep this one close here. And this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game. Here’s the catcher, Dylan Dingler. Struck out on just three pitches last time. And that one lifted in the air center field. Marcy settles underneath it and out number one on the grab. Almost a loud start to the inning on that first pitch. Man, he’s going to want that one back. No doubt. And next up for the Tigers, Parker Meadows. He walked and came around to score his first time up. He was late there. Strike one. Threw that fast ball right by him. Slightly elevated. And that’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound. See if he continues to climb the ladder. [Music] One down, base is empty. That misses the zone and it’s one and two. I don’t think he was trying to miss by that much in an 02 count. Just tried to overthrow that pitch. Swinging a foul straight back. this to third. Slinging it to first in time. Now batting center Javier Bayz. Jav Bayz digs in right side. RBI single his last time up. There’s a swing and a drive. That’s back. And that one is out of here. And Elago blasts it out. It’s 53. First pitch hacking. And it paid off for him in a big way. A breaking ball on the inside part of the plate requires a hitter to stay really square with his mechanics. If you fly open with the front shoulder, there’s no way you keep that ball fair. An outstanding job mechanically. He deserves that home run. Here is Glabber Torres. just missed. Two outs and another ball junk. Maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run, Chris. Yeah, it seems that way. You know, guys, they can come out, feel good, but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit, and they start trying to throw instead of pitched. They’re not trusting their stuff. No question about this one. It’s out of here. They do it again. Backto back homers. It’s 6-3. That’s their third home run of the game. They’re having a lot of fun at the plate in this one. And they’ve got the long ball working for them on autopilot. [Applause] Backto back jacks and this club is fired up right now. Boog. I mean, this is the kind of thing where you really start to notice hitters in a lineup feeding off each other and the collective confidence just continues to grow. Now, the Marlins manager out of the dugout, and he’ll make a move to the pen. Jansen Junk will depart. It’s a three-run game, and we’ll be back to tell you about the new arm in a minute. Pitching change here, George Soraniano. Well, he’s been a bit of a wild card out there in terms of throwing strikes. He’s definitely struggled with free passes this year. So, two down and now the shorts stop Carrie Carpenter and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Hey. [Music] And that one upstairs falling behind. Two and one. [Music] That’s a bullet, but it goes foul. Two down, nobody on. Top half of inning number four. Spoils that one and it remains two and two. [Music] And they’ll do it again. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and the inning is over. But two round tripers in this inning. The long ball was working. It’s now 63. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom four and now for the Marlins. Joey Weame. The Marlins in striking distance but have some work to do. Boo. It starts with the laidoff man. I need a good at bat out of him right here. Fast ball for a strike. Well, the offense has gotten going and a pitcher wants to go out there, have a real quick inning, get those guys back into the dugout so those bats can stay hot. And a breaking ball drops in for a strike. That front door slider, such a devastating pitch. You don’t want to get beat by the inside fast ball, so you cheat a little bit and then by the time it gets there, it’s out of the swing plane. Next offering upstairs. This hitter’s been seeing good velocity in the at bat. He’s kind of set up for that change up. He hasn’t seen it yet. Looks just like a fast ball out of the hand. outside now. Two and two and it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Hit on the ground to short. Whips it to first and one gone in the fourth as they get the leadoff man. The short stop, Moximo. Here’s the shortstop at the play. Moximo A. Costa. And that’s off the inside edge. Ball one. The fish trailing by three. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. Swinging a foul out of play. [Music] The 1-1 is fouled off. Miami. That one outside. And that’s ball two. The guy at the plate could recognize Slider out of the hand. Didn’t stay in the tunnel very long in terms of depth and perception. and he knew right away it was an off speed pitch on the ground out to short. Tosses to first and that quickly two away. Good late bite on that slider. Got the hitter out in front. Rolled over on it. Exactly what he was supposed to do. Brian Navaredto the next up for the Marlins. swing and a ground ball base hit right field and that keeps the inning going. Now batting third base Javier and here is Javier Senoha struck out swinging his first time. Slider for a strike. Navaredto off of first with two away. Tigers bullpen with some action. Will Vest getting loose for AJ Hinch. Holton getting cranked up as well. Outside with a breaking ball. knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Headed towards the corner. Paris on the run towards the line into the dive and he got it. Great diving catch to end the inning. That’ll fire up the dugout for sure. Time to go swing it. Back here in Miami now, the left fielder, Riley Green. Riley Green. Out to center. Marcy should have this one. Hauls it in for the out. Up next for the Tigers, first Spencer. And now the first baseman, Spencer Torqulson. Bowl for two in this one. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. [Music] And that drops in for a strike. And there’s a ball. One ball, two strikes. Fouls it off. Still one and two. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Still two and two after the foul ball. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. Now a high-f fly ball out to left center. Hernandez sizing this one up. He makes the grab and there are two outs. Now batting rightielder Perez. Wel Perez up now for the Tigers. Fast ball on the inside corner for a strike. Next offering is fouled back. Throwing the ball well and they need this scoreless inning and relief right here. Been doing a good job keeping them in striking distance. This one in the air. Senoha. [Applause] drops into the glove and that is that. So no runs, no hits, no errors and no one left. Home half of the fifth coming up, Tiger six and the Marlins three back now to start the bottom of the fifth and taking over on the mound, Bailey Horn. This southpaw has been really good against left-handed hitters. Now it’s the Marlins leadoff hitter, Xavier Edwards. One for two. Xavier Edwards. Breaking ball inside. And that is ball one. And that’s a little high right now. Behind in the count, two balls and no strikes. No free passes. You can’t allow that. Next offering upstairs. So definitely a little wild right out of the gate. Well, it could be a little tough coming from the bullpin mound to this mound, but you’ve got to find a way to get ahead in the count quickly. He hasn’t. We’ll see how this at bat turns out. Miami and a foul ball. [Music] 3-2 on the way. This to center field. Bayz on his way over. He’s got it. One up, one down. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He saved extra bases for sure. If the pitcher’s his friend, he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Paris sizes this one up. Puts it away for the out and there’s two away. Now batting number 87. So up next, Jacob Marcy. He’s already homerred in this game on the ground right side. Torres over to first. That’s the third out. And one, two, three go the Marlins. And they’re still doubled up. It’s six to three. We’re back and they make a change to start the sixth. The new pitcher, Adam Maer. And compared to a lot of other relievers, strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year. So, the defense should be active. So, digging in, Colt Keith. Leading off for Detroit. Third base, Colt Keith. cut on and miss. Good change up right there. It’s 0 and one. Signs of activity in the pen for the Marlins. Ryan Weathers, the left-hander, up and throwing. Bezo also getting ready. Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field. Makes the grab on the run and there’s one away. Oh, those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. Got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. Dingler in the box with one away as he takes ball one. Maser 23 years old and he was a second round pick in 2022. One down, base is empty. Swing and a ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. Up next for the Tigers, the designated hitter. Next is the designated hitter, Parker Meadows. That catches the outside corner. Strike one. Dingler leads off first with one away. He swings and fouls one off. And now one and two. missed inside with the curve way inside. Gets away and now a man into scoring position. You know, sometimes it takes a reliever a little time to get comfortable with the mound out there, especially when they come in trying to be nasty with every pitch they throw. Not exactly what they were looking for when they called him in, though. We’ll see if he can settle down. And a foul ball. He stays alive. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another eighth pitch of the at coming up. Got him. He battled for a long time, but it finishes with a strikeout. You can’t be mad at yourself after an at bat like that one. frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter. And I’m sure that’s going to sit on him for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. Here’s a swing and a drive left field and he knew it. Another homer, his second home run of the game and they add to the lead. It’s 83. That one just sounded different. And it might have been the loudest moment yet. Man, my ears are ringing. I could feel that swing from the booth. [Applause] With a low 90s fast ball, you have to live on the edges and hit your spots. If you don’t, you’ll get hit hard. Really good swing there. Patient, waited for it. It was like BP all over again. Glabber Torres up to the plate and that’s a little bit high. Ball one. Two down. Nobody on out towards right center field. We on the move and makes the play and that’s out number three. Jav Bayz with a big fly in the inning. It’s now 83. Back after this on the show. Back now for the bottom of the sixth. And there’s a new pitcher on the mound, Tommy Canley. And he’s got a nice lead to work with so he should come in throwing strikes, attacking these hitters. Here’s the cleanup hitter for Miami, Ariberto Hernandez. Hernandez. Fouled off left side. [Music] Next offering is in for a strike. Activity in the bullpen for Detroit. Trick Scooble getting loose for AJ Hinch. That one missed. 02 pitch that far out of the zone gives the hitter a little confidence that maybe he can climb back into this at bat. Fights that one away. Still one and two. [Music] And that’s a fair ball. Man, he just absolutely turned on that one. Ripped it down the line. Nice job of staying in his mechanics. Next to hit, Eric Wagaban. And first offering is fouled off. Well, the laid-off man gets on. You want to minimize the threat by playing sound defense. Hopefully the pitcher can get a ball on the ground and they can roll him up for two. And that’s in the dirt. And it’s a ball and a strike. Rudder at first with no outs here. And that one is inside. Oh, that [Music] one fouled off and ball four, two aboard. Not the start to this inning he was hoping for on the mound. So now he’s going to have to really dial it up against the bottom part of this lineup to get out of this jam. First and second, no outs. Joey Wemer the next up for the Marlins. That one finds the zone and that is strike one. Well, in this situation with runners on, you got to get ahead in the count so that you can dictate the rest of the at bat. Nice job right there. That’s off the inside corner and the count is one and one outside with a breaking ball. Tough spot right here. A couple runners on two ball count. You can’t nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch. If you leave something out over the plate, it’s going to bring in some runs. Next offering is downstairs. First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. Very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count. And they’re all loaded up. Well, interesting. He went with the off speed and walked the hitter. Man, you got to challenge the guy with the fast ball. There comes a skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Tommy Canley won’t go any further tonight. And the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this. Will vest on to try and close it out. Coming on to face a righty here and he’s been fantastic against him this year. His numbers in those matchups are very good. Base is loaded. Nobody out. And up next for Miami, Moximo A Costa been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position. Some guys just take it to another level for him right now at the plate. It’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed. Well, this is a tough situation with the bases loaded, but the healthiest mindset is just try to get outs one hitter at a time. right through there for a strike. The shorts stop takes a ball. In this situation, he’s trying to get you to pop something up or jam you. That’s a really good take knowing you got an opportunity to drive in a run here. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. [Applause] Slider misses outside. Base is juiced. No outs. [Applause] Out towards left center. Green settles under it. Brings it in. Runner tagging from third. The throws offline. He’s safe. And it’s 84. Oh, that’s a quality at bat right there. You know the situation. You need something in the air and deep enough. And that’s exactly what he did. Good pass to the baseball. Now it’s the Marlins catcher, Ryan Navaredto. At 96, that pitch is in for a strike. Well, we call that keyholeing. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. swing and a ball lined out towards center. Bayz makes the grab and there’s two away. So, it’s their last chance in this one. Here’s the third baseman, Javier Senoha. And remember, he was absolutely robbed of a base hit last time up. And that one fouled off. They’re down to their final strike. Just not able to catch up to that velocity. The Marlins down to their final strike. That misses the zone and the count one and two. Two aboard, two outs. Next pitch, a slider that misses outside. Got him. And that’s the ball game. These hitters had the long ball working for him today. Four home runs had a lot to do with them coming out on top. And our final here today, 84 for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show. I’m John Shami. Thanks for joining us.
