I definitely agree, but LeBron sometimes will his stamina more on his offense/creation than his defense during the season and it creates that narrative that “Old Bron is a bad defender”
LeBron was quite literally anchoring our defense in the playoffs, he was great defensively in those games
you’re right its effort
How many isos tho did he defend? He takes a lot of defensive possesions of regularly a game to conserve energy.
Man let the old man be old… Rudy looked like prime Shaq against a man touted to be able to guard 1-5 effectively. And in his later years it should be easier to guard a 5 than a 1
Lol these are just skewed statistics. He is not a consistently good defender and hasn’t been for years. Leave it be.
Bron was always a physical freak of nature but now he got that old man dad strength too
Was he ever an elite 1 on 1 defender? Lol
“Before someone posts a video from last year showing LeBron sleeping on defence”
Wow I didn’t know Paolo was like that on defense.
I get the criticism of Lebron off the ball (specifically the regular season) and can acknowledge hes not 27 anymore, but those who think he can’t defend one on one are just wrong…He was the best/most versatile defender in offs last year on this team (argue with a wall) and was playing 40+ mpg. When the lakers needed him to turn it on in the regular season with no AD he did and yall had no problem when he was getting 1st All NBA hype for it. He definitely has lapses but in the playoffs (the ONLY time of the year this franchise notoriously cares about) he is solid and at times better.
He can do it in spurts but he ain’t sustaining that shit. Good thing is he doesn’t need to worry about the offensive load as much this year so he can step up even more
the stats favour him well as an iso defender. but just from watching games i much prefer him as help defender. better for his energy
as well.
His sheer size+IQ/feel will make him a plus defensively when he locks in until he retires.
Sometimes he is committed, but we are still 2-12 in our last 14 playoff games. We are not getting the stops we need when we need and we are not scoring enough when we need. One similar thing is that mos of those 14 games were close and the opposite team pulled the game away in the 4th quarter, there is a clear stamina issue here and I’m not telling it is LeBron’s fault, in great part we lack the depth to give the necessary rest for a 40 years old dude that has to do too much on both sides of the floor.
I hope Pelinka still has one or two moves to make before the start of the season, the team is better, but still has at least a couple of glaring holes.
This means nothing to me and you shouldn’t put to much stock in it. Yes LeBron can still be a great defender when he tries. The thing is that at his age, he saves his energy and paces himself throughout the game. He definitely turns it on more and more in the playoffs.
