Reds vs. A’s Game Highlights (9/12/25) | MLB Highlights
Young right-hander on the mound, JT Gin for the Athletics tonight, making his 14th start of the season. JT coming off an outing against the Halos. Got himself through five innings. So, two are on for Ellie Dea Cruz, who Jim Day caught your eye in BP today. Boy, does the ball ever fly here. And he was hitting home runs at a rapid rate at 1.5 or six in a row. And he strikes out Da Cruz. Got him chasing on the change up. That’s out number one with two out. Here’s a 3-2 and that’s swung on auto miss. Down he goes on a sinker. Gen works out of it and works around the backto back walks. Brady Singer has minimized bombs while dominating of late. Lawrence 23619 homers, 57 RBI. He’s on a three-game hitting streak. Two and0 pitch is a highf fly ball deep left center. Fredo back. He’s at the track right to the wall. Leaping at the wall and it’s gone. Lawrence Butler leads off the bottom of the first with his 20th home run and it’s one- nothing Athletics. Left center field shot 400 ft. 103.5 off the bat. You and I were wondering what that base hit off Chapman could do for the confidence of one Lawrence Butler. Well, saw right there. Right-handers first pitch on the way to Will Benson is cranked high in the air. Right field. It is deep. It is back. Bed on the track. can’t find it and it drops on the wall or on the warning track just in front of the wall. Benson around to third. He hit it so high he hit it above the lights and they’re not big league lights. They’re good. The field is very well lit and they’ve got a lot of them, but they don’t go as high as big league lights. Well, you got to credit Will Benson for never stopping at all. I mean, he was running that out like it was going to be a ground ball. So JT Gin will have to deal with a runner at third, but it is not yet a scoring run for Cincinnati. One, two. And Gin strikes out Steer on a sinker. Three and two and he got him. A sinker at the top of the zone. Strikes out. Krian Hayes looking from the stretch. Two two pitch popped up a mile high in foul ground. Daryl survey and he dropped it. No doubt one that Daryl will tell you that he should have had. He does a nice job of getting over to the rail. Bit of a roller coaster of emotion there for JT Gin, but you get right back on the slab here and it’s taken on the inside corner. Ring him up. What a job by Gin. Leadoff triple and he strikes out the next three and the Reds have him on the corners. Another opportunity here for the Red Legs and Austin Hayes at the plate. Da Cruz goes pitch misses away. Throw down and a bounce is late. Steal a second by Da Cruz. And Ginger struck out Hayes. He has been gutsy tonight. That’s already six strikeouts. A little chopper up along third charging. Hern gloves it on the run. Throws first in times. Nice play by Hern and the inning is over. So once again able to wiggle out of a jam. No runs in. Hit bouncement. Two left with two and a half. Got to hang out with that fell right there. Get me, say hi, baby. Carlos Cortez has been hot. 400 in his last 14 games. Cortez connects to deep right center field. This ball’s got a chance and it’s gone. Can’t be pointed to the sky. And Cortez sent the ball into orbit. His second career home run and the A’s have doubled their total. They lead two to nothing. Goes without saying what kind of luck can’t be brings with him to the ballpark. I love it. Cortez, you show up to the ballpark, you know your role. You You know where you fit in. Maybe a late scratch, a little lineup change. Cortez, you’re in the ball game. No problem. Skip trying to chase him out further. And Shay calling for someone in the dugout. I mean, what we’ll see is JT G at some point in time lose his footing. And I’m wondering if it’s on the rubber there, that back foot or looks like discomfort. Well, it’s whatever it was, it was something that he felt kind of grabbing. He won’t be able to continue. Nope. And so Tyler Ferguson will be summoned from the bullpen again is going to limp off the mound. Tyler Ferguson in his 50th appearance this year with the A’s. One-two pitch lifted in the air to left. Cortez breaking over. He’ll make the catch on the run by the line and two are away. Two two pitch by Ferguson. Swung on a miss. gets him on a breaking ball. Great job by Ferguson and the Reds leave two more runners on base. Brady Singer faces 89 and one. Struck him out. Third strike out for Singer. Nice read there by Singer. You can see Gellof freeze on that breaking ball that was just inches off the outside corner [Music] and he takes it right down Broadway for strike three. Fast ball on the little zip on it with there at 94 miles an hour and Brady Singer takes care of the A’s in the fifth. This is what we’re talking about right here. Get you one of these big three. Hudson, Moulder, Zto. It’ll be really cool to see them honored as a trio. Tyler Ferguson who got the last two outs of the fifth inning out there on the hill for the A’s. Three hits for the Athletics and two for the Reds. Two balls, two strikes. the outfield toward left. The pitch is waved at and that’s at number one. Strike out again for Ferguson. Backto back Ks. Well, this is a role in a situation that Tyler Ferguson has excelled in. And I’m talking about outings of four or more outs for the right-hander. Had 12 outings of four outs or more. So, Fredel aboard four times himself personally. It’s the ninth time he’s done that on the year. Miguel Anduhar dealt by the A’s to the Reds at the deadline. Bouncing ball to second. Quick flip to Wilson. Double clutch throw to first and the exact result the A’s wanted happens against their former club member Miguel Andar. And Hogan Harris able to do so against former teammate. First time pitching in over a month. Welcome back the rookie Chase Burns. works in relief for the first time as a pro. Struck him out. Welcome back, Chase Burns. Hernitch to Hern. Bouncing ball cut off at third. Sliding stop by Key Brian Hayes. Pops to his feet and throws him out. How about Key Brian Hayes over there at 30. Does it again. Hayes takes third. Steer claims second. Tying runs in scoring position. Balls one strike and it’s swung on bounds off a Soer kick save. Recovers back to the mound. goes to first for the out. That would have tied the game. If if that ball doesn’t hit Sterner on the leg or the foot, it’s going to wind up in center field and score two runs. Carlos Cortez hit his second homer of the season. He’s up to lead off the eighth where the A’s are hoping to add a few more runs of insurance. One-two pitch gets in the air to left center field. Fredel on the run as far as he can go. And Carlos Cortez is not done. second homer of the game, the third of his big league career, and he is having a monstrous night for the green and gold. It’s Shawn Nukem in a safe situation in a spot like this. Only one other time this year with the Green and Gold 22 called strike three. That’s how the A’s top of the ninth will start. And a swing to miss. Back-to-back strikeouts for Nukem. Nukem deliver on Duhar swung on to him miss this game is over and it’s fitting that the A’s pitchers who struck out 14 tonight and they would see Nukem strike out the side in the ninth inning. So, the A’s take the first game of the series 3 nothing and they notch their 68th win of the

Good job by the pitching staff to shut out the reds. Ginn's whip is still too high, but he looks good. 2 more wins, and we surpass last season. 14 left to play. Cortes is a monster. Bert "Campy" Campaneris looks like he could still play!
How many fkn runners do you want to leave on base? For fks sake
As a Giants fan, so glad the A’s won because Giants are only now 0.5 games behind the Wild Card spot now!
The Athletics are 68-80🟢🟡⚪️
Thank you Lord for giving us ALL the talents and abilities to perform for your Glory. 😂 Amen.
green gold
Absolutely embarrassing how many runners did we leave on scoring position at least 13
Seems like every time Butler leads of the game with a home run, Patrick Bailey ends up with a walk off home run…same kind too, inside the park, or conventional.
Reds came to play wiffle ball .
❤🎉😊 It's really cool that Lawrence Butler hit a home run and it led to the A's getting the win ❤🎉😊
The Reds are a freakin joke. Fighting for a playoff spot and get shutout. lol

Love my as ❤
Elly is beyond overrated. I wish he would sit the rest of the year. He brings nothing to the table. I don't even think he will hit another home run the rest of the year. Sad
Let’s go Athletics 68-80
The way the Reds and Mets play, this is not a playoff race. It's a miss the playoffs race. They are both trying to not get in.
