Yankees vs. Red Sox Game Highlights (9/12/25) | MLB Highlights

Now, the Yankees have a half game lead over the Red Sox in the standings, but it’s the Sox that have the advantage in the head to head matchups this season. New York has won just two of 10 games between these two teams including getting swept here at Fenway Park back in June, Pedro Martinez, getting ready to throw out the first pitch here at Fenway, probably strike a few guys out still too well. He is a showman at Hart right there, Jason Varitek on the other end, a Red Sox legend in his own right. And that connection for the Boston Red Sox, certainly a big part of what went down here in 2004 as the Red Sox led it all in the past and moved on to win that first championship in so long. Lucas Giolito has turned his career around. He gave up 41 home runs in 2023 had an elbow procedure last year and this year after a slow start , he has been excellent, especially here at Fenway lately , strike three to Grisham and as Gino paints the outside corner for the first half here at Fenway, he’s only a 203 in his career. That’s his worst at any major league Vue with a 322 average leads all of baseball this season and rips one out to left center field this one head on the monster. You can see Stanton, you know, the ball had already been kind of caught by the time Stanton made a little bit of contact with the myth there. I’m not sure if that would have been a true interference on the Red Sox catcher, but certainly the Yankees wanted to take a look and they were not given any chance to review. You see aaron Boone trying to get the umpire’s attention. He never got it. He missed most of the season with a lad injury. This is his eighth start. He had a pretty good one, his last time out against Toronto. He’s been somewhat uneven though and he drives this one out toward the gap in right center Bellinger with a long run over and he gets there to win the 123 in the first for Louis. He has the leadoff here in the top. The second Jazz Austin Wells Jose Cavallero against Lucas. Tit gave up a home run. Aaron Judge 11 pitch. So I got a little looper in the left field that’s going to drop down for a base hit, little lap shot there by Mr Chisholm. Good start to the Yankees second inning. And let’s see what he does with , with running. He’s got 18 stolen bases is the end of July. There he goes, got a good break. Here’s the throw down the second safe at first dive, left hand on the bag by Jazz Chisholm. He’s got another bag that’s his 29th Chisholm runs again, throw to third in time. They got him. Hello JZ he giveth and he taketh away another brutal base running play by Chisholm and the Yankees with a left handed hitter, a clean lane for NBA two and two. The sox will certainly take the pitch swing and a miss, he got him with a slider. Thank you very much and they two away in a play like that just changes the whole and a ground ball up the middle. The second baseman Hamilton to his wright gloves and throws the first in time. Thank you very much Jazz Chisholm. So smooth at third base to end the innings. He who has yet to give up a hit. Walks have been an issue for him but not so in this one, just the one walk to rafael that’s on the outside corner for strike three Lowe goes down looking he has his second strikeouts and there’s a good defensive play by the Yankees told you to left time that perfectly. So Narvaez draws the leadoff one Red Sox don’t have a hit, but it’s only a two run game. Here comes David Hamilton, a lot of options here for the Red Sox. There’s another one of the back couple of pitches tonight from this one puts laid off. It’s ball four. Austin Wells is not happy there with the call. It sounded like a foul tip into the glove and that’s why I think that Wells is getting so emotional. Hamilton works the walk. Nobody out the pitch, ground ball bounce to short, get out to first. Why he throws it into the stands. Another Yankee error. Wow. I wouldn’t have had a double play there because story was busting down the line. I would have beaten it but that was an awful throw. One out runner. Second pitch, fastball went right after him. Nicely done. Swing and a miss boy jump on this, I’m not that fastball at 97 and a ground ball to second base has this and a strong in the inning for luis. He six, no hit innings at Fenway tonight. Cavaliero is grounded out 43 and 53. The speedster leading the major leagues and steals with 45 but has not been on base tonight. Fly ball deep to the right field corner by Cavallero as that ball , one hop off the wall and over the fence. It’s an automatic double for Cavallero as he punched that one a long way. Well Mcmahon good spot for him at the very least move the runner over if not get him in, he’s taking off for third. It’s a pitching not in time, a base, a major league leading 46 steal for jose Cleo this year. So now drawing an infield fly ball base hit gets a run. It’s home, the ball kicks away from NBA trying for second base and safe there is Mcmahon, it’s three to New York hard hit ball to the second baseman. He throws home in and out of the glove. I tell you what if Narvaez holds on, he might have had him Mcmahon kept his head up and he lines up at second, hold up to four fingers. You know, they’ve attacked him more than a lot of teams they really have, but not in this kind of a situation. This just screams, well, you got to keep this at three. So Ben race, 10 hitters, a couple of middle board here going on line drive up the middle base hit, here comes Mcmahon rounding third. Here’s the throw by Rafael. It’s way offline throw to third head. First time judge is safe and Ben Rice delivers again. It’s four nothing New York or the Yankees making noise here tonight. Excellent job by Rice. Staying in the center of the field hits the baseball right back up the base. The Yankees have been able to extend their lead, extend it further with Bellinger. Here he swings and misses here. Wilson gets the strikeout to end the inning. A couple of big insurance runs for the Yankees. He works six innings without giving up a hit. So here’s Fernando Cruz who had his worst outing as a Yankee in his last appearance just a couple of months with an oblique injury that’s in there for strike three over the inside corner to Narva Cruz gets the strikeout one away record at first. Cruz has back to back strikeouts in the seventh. Here’s Nate Eaton who struck out and Then came up with 2nd and 3rd after the block with nobody out to left field high and back by the wall and gone hit Miel Tian Banner and his homer was first as a member of the Red Sox and it is 4 to 1 Yankees a line drive in the hitter. The shutout, it’s 4 to 1 Yankees here in the seventh swings and misses for strike three ball in the dirt and gets the out at first to end the inning. Zack Kelly is the new pitcher for Boston all four and Stanton draws a leadoff walk here in the eighth inning. Dominguez runs for Stanton here in the eighth inning after leadoff walk in, the batter will be Chisholm who had a base hit in the second inning, hit sharply and hit the baserunner. Dominguez will be called out for interference and Chisholm will be awarded with a base hit and place to first. Now he’s taking off for second looking for base number 30 he gets it. Chisholm revs the engine again and has his second steal tonight. Pitt bounced up and Jazz is on his way to third. He’s in with a pop up slide. He’s in really good scoring position now at 3rd, 32 to Wells draw infield. Here’s the pitch up and in ball four, a nice job by Wells to work a walk runners at the corners with one out fly ball to right. See if they test the arm of Eaton here. Chisholm’s coming home, eaten, fires it to the plate. Good pro the Yankees might challenge this. I don’t know that Novaya tagged them. Chisholm is begging for a review and the Yankees will oblige. I think Narva missed the tag. Oh, did he get Chisholm on the top of the forearm in the field stands? They couldn’t tell and you revert to the call of the field. So Chisholm is called out and the Yankees end up not scoring in the top of the eighth. And the new pitcher here in the top of the ninth is Chris Murphy. They just brought him up. He’s a lefty and there was nobody there to cover first for whatever reason. Nathaniel Lowe went toward the ball instead of back and that allowed the bunt base hit and see if Gris can get going. He’s won for his last 18, 0 for four tonight. It’s a bouncing ball. It’s Hamilton battling it and Then it again, it will be the third air tonight on the Red Sox and the second by Hamilton. Now they have to pitch to aaron Judge runners on 1st and 2nd. Nobody out this ball on a hop to third gets to 2nd 1st. It’s a double play. Nice job by Murphy. Adam ball hit hard but as joe says right to big time two way, you’ll absolutely take it right. A bouncer over the mound. Second base Hamilton plays this to first and the Red Sox end up getting out of the inning. David Bednar on for lock down duties. Three and oh, with the Yankees in 14 games, 16 and two thirds innings recorded five saves and he’s going to face 67 swing and a miss strike. Three bear puts away. Narvaez for the first out. He’s really won this closer job. Two outs here, bottom 941. Yankees Yankees trying to get some separation from these Red Sox and out away from getting it done here swing and a Miss strike. Three of the New York Yankees take care of business against their arch rival in Boston Aaron Judge homered in the first. The Yankee pitching was great and they beat the Red Sox tonight 4 to 1.
