Royals vs. Phillies Game Highlights (9/12/25) | MLB Highlights

Sold out crowd tonight. We’ll see Walker Buer take the mound in his first start in a Philly’s uniform. He played most of this year with the Boston Red Sox. Did have a little cup of coffee with Lehigh Valley. Little bit of a breeze blowing out towards left. The pitch swung on, hit in the air, right center field. Long run Kepler into the gap. He’s going to get there and he will make the catch. Very casually a basket really grabbed by Kepler in the alley in right center. One away. Stressky retired. That’ll bring up Bobby Wit Jr. Here’s the pitch. Bast slice back up the middle. A base in into center field. The Royals have their first base runner thanks to a one out single from Bobby Wit Jr. Double play depth up the middle. Here’s the pitch and a swing and a miss. Struck him out. And there is the first strike out for Walker Beller as a member of the Phillies. It’s out number two. Going to bring up Mike Garcia. Buer delivers. Whit takes off for second. Fast ball down and in. Throw down is second. Shortstop side of the bag and Sto couldn’t put the tag on Whit in time. So Bobby Whit Jr. has a stolen base. His 36th of the season. Buer delivers. Garcia pokes it towards shortstop. Pass Sosa into left center. A base hit. Whit rounds third. He’s in to score standing. Mike El Garcia comes through with a two out RBI single. And the Royals take a one- nothing lead in the top of the first inning. So Mike El Garcia leads off second base. 3-2 and it’s a jam shot. Pop up first base side. Harper chasing. He will get there. He makes the catch in front of the camera. Well, and there’s out number three. And Michael Lorenzan, who made 11 appearances for the Phillies two years ago after a trade with Detroit and also appeared in the postseason that year, returns to the mound where he threw a no hitter. Bader was 10 out of 19 in the Mets series. Off the hands out toward left. It’s going to drop for a hit. Unbelievable this guy. He’s hit in five straight games. He has 11 hits during these last five games. In fact, multiple hits in four straight coming in. Here’s the pitch. Swung on and miss. Strike three. Lorenzan gets Schwarber with his slider. And Lorenzan strikes him out. That four seamer works and we’re seeing that work a lot. That brings up Brandon Marsh. Another left-handed hitter. Runner on first with two outs. The pitch. Marsh chops it to the right side. Michael Massie scoops it up from the outfield grass. He tosses to first in time for the out. And the inning is over and Frasier’s out one away. That brings up Michael Massie who’s playing for the first time since Monday. Here’s the 01. Massie punches it towards shallow left field. It’s over Sosa and down onto the grass of Basid. Michael Massie now has a four-ame hitting streak. Swing and a miss. Got him with a change up. Walker Beer just throws that change up. Perfect spot. Isbell left-hand batter. He swings at the first pitch. Hits it high in the air. Center field. Bader backing up. He’s under it. He makes the catch shy of the track. Bottom of the second inning and Otto Kemp will start it off for the Phillies who trail one- nothing out toward left center field. That’s hit pretty well. Back toward the Giants side and it’s off the base of the wall and Otto Kemp just keeps on hitting. A leadoff double his ninth of the year. He’s hit four straight games. A stretch in the three-0 pitch and that’s way outside ball four. First pitch to Sosa and he bunts. He pops it up behind home plate. Salvi raises after and makes a basket grab on the warning track. Dirt right in front of the back stop netting. That is a huge first out for Michael Lorenzan in the bottom of the second inning. Bryson Sto a left-handed hitter. Two balls, two strikes, the pitch. Swung on. Little floater into right. That’ll be a base hit. Kemp got a little bit of a late start. He’s not going to make it home as he’ll be held at third base. A single by to load the bases and that will bring Raphael Marshon to the plate. And the pitch swung on, lifted in the air, right field should be deep enough. Yremsky is back. He’s under it. He’ll make the catch. Kemp tagging. He’s coming home. The throw’s going to second and the game’s tied on a sacrifice fly for Raphael Maron. It’s 1-1. The one-two pitch swung on and miss. Strike three. Lorenzan got him with a right on right change up. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the 100th walk of the season for Kyle Schwarber. That’ll bring up Bryce Harper. Out to left center field. That’s hit pretty well. Going back on it is Isbell. It is gone. Two run opposite field home run for Harper and the Phillies have taken the lead here in the third. It’s a 3-1 game. That ball was smoked. Yes, it was. 361 home runs for Harper. Might be calling his 400th next year. Here’s Brandon Marsh. Swung on. Well hit left center field up the alley. Isbel long run and he will not get it. It bounces on the track up against the wall. Marsh around second. He’s trying for third. in the relay by Whit is late. It’s a triple for Brandon Marsh. Boy, Kyle Isel, who is as good as it gets in center field defensively, looked like he might have a play on that. It was tough for us to see. I guess it was just out of his reach, I guess. So, second triple for Marsh Kemp getting a start in the number five spot. Lorenzan ready. He kicks the pitch. Swing and a ground ball left side. It’s through. A base hit for Kemp. In to score is Brandon Marsh and Otto Kemp with his second hit of the game and he’s made it four to one Phillies with the infield in that gets through with him back. They probably stop it. Salvi popped out foul to the first baseman Harper his first time. Swing and a miss. Loaded up even more. Three strikeouts. That’s a really good breaking ball by Walker Beller and there’s two aboard and Kagleó coming to the plate. Pitch breaking ball hit in the air right field but it’s playable. Kepler is waiting on it shy of the warning track. He’ll make the catch. Phillies with a four to one lead. Raphael Marshon with an RBI. His first time up. Here’s the 1-1 and a swing and a line drive. Well hit right center field up the alley and that’s going to be in for a base hit. It’s going to one hop on the track up against the fence and it’s a double for Raphael Maran. All right. And another leadoff base runner aboard. Gator who singled in the first and the pitch swung on. Hit well right field going back. looking up and that ball is off the base of the wall. Marshawn had to wait. He’ll be held at third. Now he’s being waved home. Whit with a relay home and he is safe at the plate. RBI double for Bader. Five consecutive multi-hit games and the Phillies lead it 5 to one. Salvi Perez looks back at his dugout says check and make sure that Marawn hit the plate going by. And he did. Here’s Schwarber. 3-2 again. Swung on. Rip right field. Strepzky on the run won’t get it. He’ll get by him and it’ll go to the wall. Schwarz around first, headed for second. In to score easily is Bader. It’s another double. The third straight for the Phillies off Lorenzan here in the fourth inning and it’s now six to one Phillies. Backto backto back double. Six to one Phils in front. Top of the fifth inning. Number nine hitter Kyle Isbel leads off. 1-1 on the way and a swing and a roller out to second. Charging in Scott. He’ll throw out his old college teammate. 43 the put out the 1-1 curve ball and it’s popped up back of third backing out Kemp and he’s under it. He’ll make the catch. So a two out hit batter and a two out infield single. It went off the very edge of Vinnie Pasquantino’s bat. So first and second with two outs for Mikel Garcia. Two pitch swinging a bouncing ball towards the middle. Sosa to his left. He’s got it. Flips it to Scott and they’ll force out Pascino for the final out. Well, five innings for Walker Buer tonight in his debut. All in all, not bad for the right-hander. And now a left-handed hitter in Frasier who has popped out fouled to third and singled. One, two, swinging a miss. Michael Massie been aboard twice tonight. One-1 pitch is lifted left center field. Marsh ranging over calling for it in the gap. One, two, three inning for Tanner Banks. Well, now Bryce Harper with two outs and a man at first base. Phillies up six to one. swung on. Little looper into center. That’ll be a base hit. Bader is going to stop at second base as Yremsky comes to get it in shallow right center field. Certainly not hit as well as his home run to left center. One and two and the pitch and a swing and a miss. And a breaking ball way outside and long strikes out Marsh. Tyler Tolbert now will bat. Tolley was a big part of that win on Wednesday night in Cleveland. Lined up the middle and into center field. Tyler Tolbert has a pinch hit single. So first and third one down. Top of the seventh for Bobby Wit Jr. Over to the right side and flagged down by Harper to Mesa just in time. Royals get a run. Bryce Harper used all that long first baseman’s mid and his length and reach. Nice play Mr. Harper. Mesa again delivers in the pitch. Grounded right side charging. He gloves it underhand flipped to first in time and the side is retired. Now it is right-hander Taylor Clark having a very good season facing Otto Kemp and the O2 pitch and a fast ball is called strike three. So Weston Wilson gets the steal. A chance to add a run here with the two out hit from Stock and the right-handers 2-1. Swung on hit deep right field and that is going to go into the lower seats and right and Bryson Scott with his 11th home run of the season. Yeah, that bell’s been ringing a lot lately, hasn’t it? No doubt about it. Two more on the board for the Phillies who now lead it 8-2 here in the bottom of the seventh. Two away and the Royals are down in their final out. Snap off a breaking ball. Let’s finish this baby. Swing and a miss. He got him. The magic number to clinch to the division is down to four. The Phillies win it tonight by a final score of 8-2. What a resounding night for the offense.

  1. Bryce and Bryson hitting bombs! Welcome to Philly Walker Buehler. Sucks to see Sosa might be injured. Otto, Kepler, Marsh, Bader, and Marchan all did good work.

  2. I love how every one is contributing on offense, especially the bottom of the order. If they can keep this up for a month and get Schwarber back to his booming self, it will be lights out!

  3. Phillies are playing well right until the divisional playoffs when they blow it as they usually do.

I don't expect them to get past the divisional playoff round.

  4. Who are these Phillies? What great additions to this lineup. Seeing Marsh hit 4th is amazing since he’s been relegated to the bottom of the order for most of his time in Philly. Sometimes it just takes one guy to bring a spark and I think that guy was Bader. It’s a fun watch right now.

  5. Phils win, Mets lose, magic number at 3. Let's catch the Brewers, and then rest up, get the pitching in order for the playoffs. It takes a team effort to win a championship, with everyone involved. That's what the Phillies are doing. Keep it going!
