Not bad at all. Was hoping for a more long term deal but it’s safer for both sides I suppose
Seems like a very fair deal for both sides. Well below what Wolf got the other day and Knight is still young enough to cash in again for the big 7-yr deal if he develops and outperforms this one.
Reasonable deal for both parties
Love it! Great news before some CFB today
Another Kyle from Chicago Contract win!
Really like the deal. Would’ve preferred a bit more term but goalies are very volatile with their play so not surprised they’d want shorter term.
Also, this opens them up if Commesso develops very well that they could do a 1A/1B situation for a few years but if they end up wanting to go with Commesso long term they can easily trade Knight because the contract isn’t restrictive. Now Knight of course has much more of a resume to justify being the guy but I’m sure they’re still high on Commesso.
I like it. We don’t have that much of a sample size yet, but if Knight can play consistently then it’s a killer deal on a #1 goalie.
(Also if bad stuff happens then retaining 50% on a bridge deal with that AAV makes him easy to move)
Also includes a 15 team no trade list starting in year 3
Yay!
I like this deal a lot. Goalies can be inconsistent in their development. He’s yet to have a starter’s workload at the NHL level, and I was hesitant to signing him to a long term deal based off of one year of starting. Now, he gets a little bit of a raise and we get 3 years to see who he really is rather than locking him long term and for big money prematurely.
Let’s go
Signing this extension early is a masterclass move. We now have our top goalie locked in for five seasons.
MY KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR
Wyatt Kaiser, you are the next man up.
Great deal. Does this take him to his RFA year?
Solid! That makes sure our goalie situation is secure for at least 3 seasons—who’s his backup??
