NBA LIVE! Los Angeles Lakers vs Portland Trail Blazers September 14, 2025 | 2025 NBA Season Live 2K
Heat. Heat. N. to win this one. They’re clear favorites. Yeah, that’s exactly right. I mean, and they should be, but you can’t take anybody lightly in the NBA. As the underdog, you have no expectations, and sometimes that can free you up to play your best basketball. which gives you a chance to maybe catch that opponent who’s the favorite off guard. Let’s take a look at our starters from Portland. They’ve got Denny Abdia Holiday out there with Damen Lillard. Then there’s Tammani Camaro and it’s clinging in at the five down low outside. Holiday kicks it out to Lillard. Misses the three. And they had some botched coverage that turned into no coverage. Pass to Donic and oh boy, a lot of contact there, but he gets the call and will shoot two. Denny Havia picks one up. Luca Donic is a superstar in this league and he continues to build on what is going to be some kind of resume when it’s all said and done. Has every tool that you need to have to be an MVP one day. [Applause] The first one falls. Many players Clark can drive in and step back, but few do both as well as Luca Donic. Yeah, I agree with you there, man. He’s special in that regard. And sometimes he can do both of those things in the same play, even multiple times. I mean, he’s a ball dominant guy, but he’s got special scoring ability. His footwork is a big part of it. His ball handling and his size. I mean, his size is deceptive and I think underlooked sometimes in how he’s able to do what he does with the basketball. And joining us now by phone is insider Shams Cherania with some news. Shams, give it to us. Well, plenty of anticipation in Portland for this summer when the WNBA will return to the Rose City. The fire will reclaim the name from Portland’s initial 2-year WNBA run from 2000 to02. And this summer with the momentum around the league, the hope is that flame will endure. A new beginning. Okay, Shams, thank you for the report. Portland shooting their first free throws of the game. [Applause] [Applause] No good on that one. And really the only question going forward for Klingan, can he keep up with the foot speed in the NBA? [Applause] [Applause] So neither attempt will fall that time for Clark. For a while, people kept asking how long will LeBron play. It’s almost like they’ve given up on that question now. He’s played for so long and so well. Yeah, he’s been unbelievable in his longevity and excellence, but eventually Father Time wins out. He’s a superhero right now and I think always will be. I can’t imagine that he’ll overstate his ability to play at a high level. So, we’ll see what that brings. And now, Ali Lefor has something for us from the sideline. Well, earlier I spoke with JJ Reddit. He told me that they’ve got one of the league’s best lockown defenders in Drew Holiday. So, it won’t be easy for us tonight. Coach went on to say that against top tier individual defender like Holiday, the most important thing is spreading the points around and having a diverse attack. Kevin, back to you. All right, Ally, we thank you for that. Holiday looking for an opening. [Applause] Launches a three. The rebound by James. for Los Angeles. They’ve gone two or three here to start off the game. [Applause] Re the pass to Eightton on outside. Pocket six [Applause] and the shot goes in. And you know, you look at Don forward. This guy handles the ball extremely well. He’s terrific at creating for himself off the dribble. Holiday against Reeves. Count it good. That’s a gimme right there. That’s exactly what you want. Lakers leading by five to the middle. Here’s Aton. And Aton throws it down. And it’s the way Aton uses his body inside. It’s what allows him to get so close to the basket. Outside Holiday Flinging the screen for Holiday to the inside. Kicks it out to Lillard. Abby on the wing. Off target from outside for Los Angeles. They’ve gone four of five from the field so far. Cllingon with the steel and stolen by Eaton. Clinging with the block. Intimidation at the defensive end. That’s something Klingan can provide right away while the rest of his game is a bit of a work in progress. Outside Holidayard against Donic pass to Cllingan. The rebound by the Lakers. Give the defense credit there. Normally that’s two points. LeBron outside. [Music] shoot over Kamar. Here’s Hatton and they call the foul. So, he’s got the and one chance here to make it a three-point play. I I just admire the instinct that has seems to know exactly where to be when the shot goes up. And what do you guys think so far about the offensive approach for the Lakers? To me, it’s been the ball movement. That’s been the key. I mean, going from good to great, not settling for a good shot, making that extra pass, keeping the defense off balance, and taking great shots. And the other thing I’ve been impressed with, guys, is their assertiveness at attacking the paint, trying to hunt for those high percentage looks. Bounce pass. Holiday. Lillard way outside. And again, it’s the Trailblazers missing inside. Here’s Reeds. Lays it up off the glass. And they have owned the paint so far and the score reflects it. And you know establishing that physical dominance early gives you a big mental edge too. [Applause] Trailblazers trail by 13. Outside Holiday. Here’s Lillard. And no good. The dry spell continuing for him. Hatchima finds James clinging with the steel. [Applause] Pass to Kamar [Applause] outside. Abdah fires the three. Rebounded by the Lakers. Payton’s got five rebounds tonight. reads right side. Now Hatcheburg [Music] and here is Donic shoots the three and Klingan pulls it down. Trailblazers trail by 13 guys. They’re looking for a way to score here. Yeah, they’ve had a tough time taking the lid off. Lillard against Donic. [Applause] Lillard right side and it’s good with time running down on the shot clock. Got to like that attacking mindset of Lillard. I mean very confident in his ability to score and finish inside. Eighton kicks to Hatchima. Los Angeles with another miss. And you could tell he thought that triple was going to fall. Holiday. The pass delivered. LeBron with the block. What timing by James on the denial. His hand is right there at the exact moment it needs to be. Displaying intensity right off the opening tip, especially on the offensive end. Tell you what, forget about easing into the game. They came out with punts. Blazing. Lillard from outside trains it from beyond the arc. Lillard’s got five. Tell you what, doesn’t matter whether he’s on the move or standing still. Leonard is a flatout laser shooter. The Lakers moving the ball around. No good. Tough to hit that shot when the D is all over you like that. Pass to Holiday now clinging. [Applause] Here’s Kamar and the Trailblazers. Another three. And how about the awareness by Cllingan, a big man who can sense when one of his teammates is open. Deflects the pass and now Portland on the break on the wing. Holiday Lillard outside. Abdia shoots over Hatimura. AI can’t hit. Very dangerous to leave a guy like that open. Lucky break there for the deep putting pressure on the defense. That’s exactly what they want to get out of elbow two. The Lakers have gone two for three at the foul line in this one. Yeah. And 79% from the line as a team a season ago. Pretty reliable in that regard. shooting two. First one falls for and the Lakers with some changes. Vanderbilt’s checked in for Aton. Jake Laavia comes in for James and Smart subbed in for Austin Reeds. And then for the Trailblazers, Williams, he’s checked in for Abdia. Jeremy Grant comes in for Tammani Kamar and it’s sharp in for Drew Holiday and he makes both free throws. Portland with the ball. They trail by nine points. Pass to Klingan. Williams. A screen on Het Murray. Now here’s Lillard and there’s Klingan. That’s good on the assist by Lillard. Klingan knows how to use that size both as a screener and a finisher. To the paint. Here’s Hatchima. Hits the layup after the sweep pump fake to freeze the D. Hatchima’s got nine. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. And so Chanty Bilips decides to call timeout. He’s ready to talk things through with [Applause] And it’s Lillard with the ball. He brings it up for Portland. Nine-point game. Let’s check in now with our Ally Lefors who’s got a story for us. Ally, thank you. Jeremy Grant began his career as an activity role player, but he’s been adding layers. He said at the start, whatever I needed to do to get on the court, whether it was defense, rebounding, blocking shots, I was going to do it. I wanted to see what I was capable of. So, I put a lot of work in expanding my role. Back to you. Thank you, Ally. Pass to Donic from outside the arc. Tracks in the train. Donic has got nine. Their play on both ends has been superb. We we’ll see if they can maintain the momentum. And you know, nothing like getting an opponent on the ropes early. You love that if you’re on that side of the scoreboard. And they are landing some haymakers now. You know, Greg, being a two-way player got Jeremy Grant into the NBA. But now he’s grown even more. Yeah. Early on in his career, he was often the primary defender on the lease scores. Then he added scoring to his game in Detroit, becoming an effective two-way player. Trailblazers trail by eight. There’s the three and it’s Luca with the rebound. Donic has got his fourth rebound in this one. Up and in on the lane. He’s got 11. You know, as I watch Donic, I think it’s feudal to try to distract this guy. His focus and concentration and control of himself is excellent. Grant the pass to Sharp. Clinging the screen for Sharp. Just three to shoot. [Applause] Here’s Lorabia. Defended by Sharp outside for Smart. Good. And the assist goes to Donic and the Lakers lead by 13. Donic so multiaceted. A stat sheet stuffer supreme. He does everything including dropping down. Williams finds Grant. Smart against Lillard. [Applause] Smart against Lillard. [Applause] Smart passes to Donic. Gets in and he’s a very efficient five for six on the game. I know Donic takes pride in being able to produce for his team and he’s doing it at a high level here. And there’s the call. It’s going to be an illegal screen and not the most common call you’ll see in the NBA, but hard to argue that pick wasn’t illegal. Yeah, you know, the officials aren’t nearly as lenient as they used to be on that call. As a matter of fact, I know I got away with a lot of those in my playing days, but that was 40 years ago. Here’s what Portland’s going with right now. Maurice checked in for Donovan Klingan and Scoot Henderson subbed in for Lillard. Here’s Larabia and no good on the last second attempt this time. So, as we end the first quarter, already a double- digit ball game. Los Angeles on top, ending the first quarter on a 14-6 run. Let’s take a quick break now and then it’s on to the second quarter after this. [Applause] [Applause] And if you’re just tuning in, we’ve got a wide margin on the scoreboard, but uh plenty of time left for a comeback. And for the Lakers, this has been the game they wanted to have. Well, in that first quarter, they were intent on just pounding the ball down low. Yeah, and it’s worked. They’ve got a clear edge and points in the paint. Now we’ll see if they go with a more balanced attack or just keep on pounding it inside. Here are the five Portland has to start the second quarter. Sharp is on the wing and he’ll be paired with Grant. Williams is out there with Murray and it’s Henderson in at the one spot. Henderson with the screen for Grant. [Music] [Applause] And it’s Labradia with the rebound. A good score around the rim. He is met there by an irresistible force. Kick it out. Here’s Sharp. That’s in there. Murray with the assist. Sharp’s got his second aster. Oh, nice job executing inside. Sharp’s confidence is what makes him such a dangerous player. Reeves into the lane. Can’t cash in on the 10-ft jumper. Trailblazers trail by 13. Here’s Henderson. Grant gets a wide open look, drills the three-pointer. Grant’s got five points so far. Got to know where Grant is at all times. He loves wickling free from that corner. Reeves against Sharp. Reeves left side pass to Labraia. Vanderbilt kicks to Smart. Here’s Clebon. Portland grabs the miss and here in the second. Two minutes gone by. Sharp again. Threes. Henderson passes to Murray. Grant on the wing. [Applause] Shoots over Lorabia. No good from Grant. The shot’s there for him and he’s got to take it. I don’t care if he doesn’t convert. That’s a shot he has to continue to take. Pass to Vanderbilt. [Applause] Here’s Smart. Henderson defending. Pulls it from the elbow. The rebound by Grant. And so Grant will bring it up for the Portland Trailblazers. They haven’t allowed any points in the second quarter. Henderson pass it to Williams. [Applause] And here’s Sharp. Pass to Grant. The Trailblazers need to get off a shot. His three-pointer is off the mark. Lakers leading by 10. Trying to end the drought. Murray with the defensive effort. And in the second quarter, a little under three and a half minutes played already. They grabbed their own miss. Henderson outside. Murray a screen on Cleveland and the call is going to be Yes. Yes, it is an illegal screen. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. Yeah, I agree. You know, sometimes that can be a tough call for the refs to make, but not that time. It was easy there. Here’s what the Lakers are going with right now. Kette comes in for Jake Larabio, and it’s Gabe Vincent in for Smart. The Trailblazers also changing it up. Tammani Kamar. He’s checked in for Murray. Holiday comes in for Grant and Lillard subbed in for Henderson. The Lakers need to get a shot off here. Three-pointer and it’s Portland with the rebound. Williams has got his fourth rebound in this one. They could use a big shot here to get this offense going. Too many empty possessions right now. They need the basket. Fast break. The Lakers and the dunk by Vanderbilt. an agile play to get his hand in there and get the steel. Intelligent play to immediately start the break. Lillard the fast to sharp back to Lillard in the corner. Camaro with it. He gets it to fall. That makes it just a single digit lead. Camar’s got six points. And Clark, I’ve got to say, you might have been one of the first true combo forwards. And that’s not a rarity anymore. No, it’s common. It’s actually 13 to a dozen. Now, when you talk about the versatility of forwards in this league at sizes going north of 68, ability to make threes and go rack to rack. You’re not boxing into any one position nowadays. It’s all about being a skilled, versatile basketball player regardless of your size. I love it for the game and for the spectator. And that’s the kind of lead pass we’ve come to expect from him. Three-pointer Lillard. Vandal with the rebound. Lakers lead by 13. Reeves the pass to Vincent. Clea with a screen on Lillard and Cleba slams it in. Really crisp, intelligent passing to make that basket possible. Lillard outside. makes it off the glass. He’s got seven. Dame with a strong finish at the rim. Boy, can he pack a punch. Lakers have gone Forbes in the second quarter from the field. And so JJ Portland also making some changes. Bottom clinging. He’s checked in for Robert Williams and Abdia subbed in for Charlotte. [Applause] [Music] Now Hatchimal. Nine points in the game so far. Connects a screen for Donic. It’s good. Donic has got 15. Unwilling to let up even for a moment. That’s his killer instinct. Just fanning the flames. Yeah, I love the fact he doesn’t play the score. He just keeps coming attack mode. He doesn’t know how to step off the gas pedal. There’s a screen by Kamar. Holiday gets the bucket. With deep range and a wide arsenal of moves, Holiday keeps defenders off balance. Donic bounce pass. [Music] Here’s Kains. Rebounded by Kamar. You can’t look at the result of that shot. They’ll take that whenever they get it. Well, you know, I hear you. That’s a good look, but when you’re that wide open, I think you got to knock it down. Holiday finds Kamar. Had a chance there to cut it to single digits, but it’s off target down low. Smooth finish inside by LeBron. You can tell LeBron values getting quality shots because he knows how much they’re worth and he’s willing to fight for them. Pass to clinging. Lillard with no one around. Good on the triple. 10 points for him. Really well done there. Just confident and composed. Never in a hurry. Greg, when you talk about the all-time great three-point shooters, Damen Lillard is right up there without a doubt. Steph is the clear number one, but that second spot is up for debate. And it’s between guys like Mark Ray Allen and Dave who rising and punching it on the young fella. You know he loves having that much of a height at bed. It’s best chance to get yourself on the highlight. Back to Lillard. Down to five on the shot clock. Nice D from Donic. Los Angeles leading by 13. Back to connect. Lakers passing it around. Lets it go with a three and it’s Donic missing for Portland. They’ve gone six of 13 so far from the field here in the second quarter. Good. Boy, the ability to knife inside and convert. Lillard is fearless when it comes to attacking the basket. Donic looking it over. Off the mark there with the three-point shot. Trailblazers trail by 11 and stolen by Eaton. And now the fast break. Hatchimal with the ball and the call on the shot that sends him to the line. A young man who knows how to use his strength. Connect doesn’t let the foul stop it. The Lakers have shot 80% from the line tonight going four of five so far. Got it. You got this. You got this. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] That free throw no good. Entering the league as an older prospect at 23. Dolph Connect is a very skilled offensive player. The question with him, can he add strength to his frame? Time will tell. Austin Reeves has checked in for Los Angeles. Good on the second free throw. Here’s Holiday. He’s got five. And so Chanty Phillips decides to call timeout. Looking for a breather and maybe adjusting a thing or two. On defense, the Lakers pass to Lillard for three. The shot no good. Not quite enough defense that time around. Just lucky he was off. And here they come. Now clinging. He’s covered by Eightton. And so it’s Dunic with it. He brings it up for Los Angeles leading by 12. Not sure why he keeps trying his love from deep here. It’s just not his night. Pass to Abia. Here’s Kamar. Offensive rebound. Lillard from outside. Sinks the triple. Lillard’s got it back down to within single digits for Portland. So effective in the catch and shoot as Lillard. You give him an inch and he’s taken much more than that. LeBron outside to the middle. Stolen by Holiday. Pass to Kamar. [Applause] Lillard up top. Guarded by Donic. And Lillard gets it to go. I like when Lillard gets a little tricky with it. Outstanding at measuring the floater and dropping it in. [Applause] Alert against Donic. 50 seconds left in the first half. Six on the shot clock. Hatimura the bash to Aton. The three for Dungeon and Klingan pulls it down. Cllingan’s got rebound number five here tonight. Here’s Holiday. Five points in the game. [Applause] To Kamar. Good. Great play by Lillard to set it up. Lillard’s got three assists in the game. [Applause] [Music] Reeves against Holiday. Here’s Donic. And here’s Reeds outside. That shot no good and some good action through the first two quarters as we reach halftime. Acres on top. They’re up by four. We’ll take a quick break that gets you free. And it’s eighton in it center. That’s JJ Reic five as we get into the second half. The three for Dunic. It’s hauled in by the Trailblazers [Applause] on the wing. Holiday. He’s defended by Reeds. Here’s Klingan and he gets the whistle for the 3second call. [Applause] Lakers shooting 49% on the game. They’ll take that. LeBron passes to Donic. Pass to Hatchima. Five on the clock. Eightton the pass to Reeves and the three ball is good. Re has got it going here in the start of the second half. The first points in the third quarter for the Lakers. Lillard against Donic. Lillard left side now. Camaro. Here’s a tried to answer back, but that three is off the mark [Music] to the paint. Hedge passes to Aton and no good. Trailblazers trail by seven to the inside. Stolen by Reeves. Pass to Hatchima. clinging covering. And here is Eightton. He’s got eight. And the dump by Ch. Never gets old seeing LeBron explode off the floor like that. The Trailblazers shooting from the field. 44%. Not bad. Now, let’s take a minute to talk to Ally Lefor side. Ally, thanks a lot, Kevin. Every team in the league is looking for a long athletic wing defender, and the Portland Trailblazers have been especially keen on stockpiling them as they look to acquire their future franchise players. They want a ready-made roster full of versatile Brandy roll players just around them. Kevin, back to you. A good strategy. All right, Ally, as always, we thank you. No one near Donic as he lets it fly, connects from three-point range, and it’s a 12-point Los Angeles lead. Aia a screen on Donic outside Holiday and he can’t stop the run as he misses. He was wide open that missed clearly on him. [Applause] Donic. Abdia with the rebound. Abd got six rebounds now in the game. And Lillard kicks to Holiday. Abdia with a screen for Holiday. Another miss by Holiday. And so it’s Himura who brings up the ball for Los Angeles. We haven’t given up any points here in the second half. That pass into the paint. That is a work of art there. Dead on target. Wow. Clark has Austin Reeves been good, especially after signing that 4-year, $54 million deal back in 2023. Yeah, I tell you what, it might [Applause] Second half here. We’re just over 3 and 1/2 minutes into it. Pass to Kamare. [Applause] Here’s Lil. Will it go? Portland no good that time either. No matter what looks they get, they just can’t convert to stop this run. And you know, they’ve got to be careful that this is when the team concept breaks down and guys start playing hero ball. Burries the long range jumper. All systems are on go when LeBron has the ball behind the arc. Trailblazers trail by 17. Mr. Kamar outside. Holiday. Plenty of space. Connects. The jumper drops. Holiday’s got seven points. And with that basket, he puts a stop to a 13 nothing run there by Los Angeles. Back to Donic. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Shot clock at five. Pass to Hatchima. Good. And the assist goes to Dun. He’s got 12. Hachimura was hoping the ball would come his way and he was ready. They’ve been looking out of sync offensively. Yeah, that their offense has ground to a standstill. Lillard attacking Mr. Kamar outside. Holiday bangs home the trifecta. Holiday’s got five points now this quarter. One of the more complete players in the league. Holiday with a nice jumper. Reeves outside. Now here’s Aiden and here is Donic. The three-pointer off the mark and close to making the defense pay for the lack coverage that time. Abia kicks to Lily. Back to Abdia to Kamare. Offensive rebound. Second chance shot and no problem from AIA as he finishes at the rim. Yeah, coach’s pet peeve there. No box out. Those are free points you’re giving away. You got to work harder on the glass. LeBron sets the screen for Donic. Off target with his three. Nothing’s going his way since the horn. I mean, looks like he used up all his makes in the last quarter. Lillard against Donic. Lillard left side over Donic. Rebounded by the Lakers. Donic has got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. Here’s Hackima. Los Angeles with another miss. Trailblazers trail by 13. Holiday. The pass to Lillard [Music] and it’s Aton with the rebound. Payton’s got 10 rebounds here tonight. So active. LeBron passes to Reeves over in the corner. Donic. Can they get it? Portland grabs the miss. Klingan’s got rebound number seven for him tonight. Lillard finds Klingan. Javia from the arc. It’s hauled in by LeBron. James has got six rebounds here tonight. Now here’s Donic covered by Kamar. And it’s Donic missing. And and he has definitely been struggling in this quarter. You know, guys, it seems to me as though he’s over anxious. He seems to be pressing, trying too hard, moving too fast. Just needs to calm himself down and wait for good shots. Holiday gets the bucket. So many different ways that Holiday can beat you because he’s got great length and size for a guard and that allows him not to be afraid to mix it up inside. Aton kicks to LeBronache [Music] [Applause] Murray in the corner. Yes, it’s James picking up the assist got six here in this quarter. Boy, you got to love that assist by LeBron. Trailblazers trail by 14 outside. Holiday three-pointer. Lillard good on the three-point shot. Lillard’s got 20 points. The moment they hit that last shot, Lillard wanted one of his own. He was determined and undeterred to strike right back. outside. Here’s Hatton. Abdia with the rebound. And so it’s Abdia with it. He brings it up for the Portland Trailblazers outside. Holiday inside and stolen by Eaton. And here’s the fast break. moving it up. Pass to Holiday. Shoots over Donic. The shot by Holiday. No good. On the wing. James covered by Kamar. Fires it up. James with the buckets. And LeBron’s got nine points. Trailblazers trail by 13. Pass to Cllingon. Two minutes remaining in the third. Three-pointer Millard rebound the Lakers. We’ve got 155 left to play in the third. Huh? The pass to LeBron. Breeze with the screen for LeBron. Outside and a miss there on the triple. Well, it’s been a turbulent quarter. Really rough for him. nothing going his way, but he seemed determined to shoot his way out of it. And the dunk was nice, Kevin, but the move he made to free himself up was a thing of beauty. It sure was, Drake. What a savvy play to get into position for that jam. Heads up basketball, plain and simple, guys. A Jeremy Grant. He’s checked in for Tammani Kamar and it’s sharp in for Drew Holiday. Lakers passing it around. [Applause] outside. Smart. Loravia finds Vanderbilt. Six to shoot. On deep. Reeves trains the three-pointer. Reeves has got a pair of threes now here in the third for the Lakers. Lillard against Smart. That one’s in there. The Lakers lead is cut down to just 12 points on the bucket from Lillard. Some nights Lillard can just keep going and going outside. Smart. [Music] Pass to Labraia. Bomb breeds. The rebound by Grant. Trailblazers trail by 12. Now here’s Lillard guarded by Smart. Lillard surveying the D. Williams has a screen for Lillard and a miss there with a chance to cut the lead to single digits. And here at the end of the third quarter, it’s a double digit ball game. Lakers lead by 12. And we’ll have the start of a fourth quarter for you as soon as we get back from this short break. [Applause] It’s time and we reach the fourth quarter in a game that may be already out of hand right now. And here are the Trailblazers now down by 12. And on the four for Portland here in the fourth, Sharp is on the wing and he’ll be paired with Grant. Murray out there with Rob Williams and it’s Lillard in at the point guard down low. Williams and foul on the shot. So he’ll get a chance at the line. Just such a physical player. Williams has no off switch. He which is how he gets these calls. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. Two shots. The first free throw is good. And the energy of Williams, it’s infectious. Amazing at using it to block shots, rebound, score, whatever they ask of him. And Williams drops them both. Los Angeles leading by 10. Reeves with it. [Applause] Pass to Cleba. Smart against Willard from about 16. Nice shot by Smart and the Lakers lead by 12. And nice job taking what the defenders gave him, but these guys need a gut check right now. Well, that’s exactly the kind of defense that’s gotten him into the hole. Smart against Lillard. [Applause] Rebound the Lakers. They led by as many as 18 points. Smart against Willard. Six feet out and Damen Lillard pulls it down. And here’s Lillard. He brings it up for the Trailblazers. A 12-point game. And the dunk by Grant. You know what? When you allow Grant to get close to the rim, you risk seeing him give you a facial right in your grill. [Applause] Reeves again. Sharp. Reeves. the pass to Smart and here is Vanderbilt. Reeves outside offline with his three. And the great shooters know when they’ve got enough opening to go for the three. I didn’t think it was a bad choice on that possession. That one’s good. The Laker lead is cut down now to just seven on the basket from Sharp. We’re in the fourth quarter here. Just under 2 and 1/2 minutes gone. Here is Vanderbilt and the dunk by Vanderbilt. And that’s just really good situational awareness from Smart Realizing something is open on that possession. Sharp the pass. Lillard outside and it’s off from three-point range. Lakers leading by nine right side. Smart and he uses the glass on the lay. Smart’s got four points now in the quarter. When you allow good scorers to get uncontested shots at the rim. No wonder you’re losing. You know, he should be getting extra attention from the defense, not less. Here’s Williams. And Williams slams it in. An unreal athlete. Williams gets off the floor with such ease to power it down. Well, if you’re just tuning in, welcome. We’ve got about three and a half minutes. Well, Klingan, he’s checked in for Murray. Right now, let’s take a moment here to catch up with Ally Leforce on the sidelines. I was able to listen in on what JJ Reic was going over with his team. He loves what the D has been able to accomplish, saying to his team, “Every turnover is a big success for us. Keep forcing those errors. Don’t let them feel comfortable out there. So, expect them to keep trying to be disruptive. We appreciate it, Ally. Thank you. Smart wide open. He fires. Nails the wide open jump shot. Smart’s got six points in the quarter. And the lack of effort to fight over the screen there makes that an easy shot. Well, I’m going to credit the screen. I mean, that’s a good strong pick he lays there. I’m shocked that it didn’t turn into three points. I mean, he makes you pay on those nearly every time. [Music] [Applause] Grant outside. Pass to Sharp. [Music] Good ball movement here by the Trailblazers. Here’s Lillard now. Clinging. Count it. Unselfishness from Lillard. Has no problem giving the ball up, especially when he’s got a guy wide open. on Jet passes to Smart. Clea with a screen on Lillard. [Music] The 11footer. Smart misses. Trailblazers trail by nine. Here’s Sharp. It’s rebounded by Donic. Donic has got rebound number eight here tonight in the game. Outside Smart Hon with a screen on Lillard. Smart with the ball now defended by Grant. Smart misses and it’s Willard with the ball. He brings it up for Portland. They’ve given up just eight points in the fourth quarter. Grant outside. Lillard with a screen for Williams. Pass to Grant. Shoots over Lorabia. No good from Grant. You could tell he assumed he’d be able to beat the defensive coverage even though it was all over. Here’s Donic. Defended by Sharp. Now Larabia. Los Angeles with another miss. And I thought that was going to drop. It looked good from here. Shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. And no one questions Sharp’s ability to put the defender in some impossible positions. All right, we’ll take a look now at how the points have been generated so far. A scoring breakdown for the Lakers. Well, I’ve been impressed with the ball movement all game long. They’re really looking to just make that extra pass. They’ve also found a lot of shots at the arc in this one and allowing their good shooters to tee it up. Big group substitution here for the Lakers. Aton, he’s checked in for Maxi Cleba. Hatchima comes in for Vanderbilt. James checked in for Jake Larabio. And it’s Austin Reeds in for Smart. Javz checked in for the Trailblazers. Jamani Kamar comes in for Grant. He doesn’t get the second one. James in the post covered by Kamar. That one goes in. LeBron’s got nine points now in just the second half. And when the score is as lopsided as it is and you can see they smell blood in the water, how man is going for the juggler. Well, he only plays one way and that’s um full throttle all day, all the time. Cold bloodooded and lethal. James looking it over to the paint and there’s a good on the assist by LeBron. LeBron’s got three assists now in this one. Now here’s Sharp and there’s the drive. Lays it up and in on the nice reverse. Sharp’s got six points in the quarter. And good quickness there. Sharp exciting to watch when he’s in attack mode. Here’s Donic. Donic gets it to go inside. gets it where he wants it and takes it up strong. Trailblazers trail by nine. Lillard outside. Flinging the screen for Lillard [Applause] and the rejection by Eaton and using that wide reach to reject shots. Can’t afford to throw up weak stuff around the big fell. Oh, the officials are all over that one. Clearly a foul. I mean, didn’t give him any choice but to blow the whistle. I mean, you got to play without fouling. Ruy Morov taking two shots. [Applause] Two shots. [Applause] [Applause] And that one falls for Hachimura. Drew Holidays checked in first. Shaden Sharp [Applause] that misses. So he splits the free throws. Trailblazers trail by 10. Pass to Abia. Three-pointer Lillard. Rebounded by DeAndre’s got 14 rebounds tonight. Going after and the dunk by Hatim Murray. Oh, that is big time by Hatimura. No mercy at all. Now Lillard over Donic. And that one’s good. Lillard. Lillard’s got 10 points in just the second half. Reeves outside. Back to Donic launches it and it’s Portland with the rebound. Kamar’s got six rebounds in the game. Pass to Klingan and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. Rui Himura picks one up. Teams will foul clinging. free throw shooting right now. Something he’s got to work at. Two shots. Shooting two. He throw good. Clinging. [Applause] [Applause] No good on the second free throw. Los Angeles lead by nine. Bomb deep breeds and it’s Portland with the rebound. Abdiaz got rebound number 10 tonight with that last one. Played in with a nice touch off the glass. Took that orange right to the rack and they just let it go by. Reeves outside. James outside and LeBron nails the three. I guess the defense was not expecting a quick release. LeBron can get it up and down in a hurry though. And that one is good. Nice setup. Excellent team basketball. [Music] And so Donic will bring it up for the Lakers. They led by as many as 18 points. [Applause] James outside. Got it to go. Yet another stellar night for LeBron offensively so far. In some ways, he’s just unstoppable. I see him. I see him. LeBron against Lillard. Donic for the rebound. Lakers lead by 10. Luka on the move and the shot will go down. Tell you what, guys, that’s not an easy finish, but somehow Donic makes it look rather effortless. First personal foul, second team. at the line for the Lakers. Luca Dant one shot. [Applause] Trailblazers trail by 13. 149 left in the fourth quarter. [Applause] Donic against Lillard. Releases from 15. No good. Los Angeles has gone into a fun from downtown in the fourth. Only one of their five three-pointers has found the bottom of the bucket. Dicage outside. Three. Cook. And this is going to end in a lopsided victory. I love the tenacity and aggressiveness as well as the ability to close. You really got to give it up here for Los Angeles. What an effort in the transition game we’ve seen tonight from these guys. Really pushing the ball and I think in in doing so created a lot of pressure on the defense. Definitely had a huge edge and this is their DNA when they run the ball and dictate the flow of the offense like we’ve seen here. These are the kinds of games they can have. And while there was some nice performances tonight, it definitely ended up being a solid outing for Luca Donic. Every inch of the floor was his tonight as he came out and injected an energy into every play. And it’s a completely new group for Los Angeles. James outside. Here’s Vincent Henderson defending. James up top. [Applause] from deep. Murray rips down the board. Sharp against James. Williams no good again that time. This could get even more out of him if they continue to put up points. Wow, Kevin, what a performance we are seeing. The shot and game clock separated by four. Here’s Koko. He’s covered by Murray. And good that time. [Applause]
