Astros VS Rangers Condensed Game 9/6/25
for the Texas Rangers. We are underway in Arlington with a swing and a miss. Degro pulled a slider offensively, especially in terms of his batting average, but he strikes out here to start the game against the Deg Grom slider. Well, Deg Grom has such great command away that the hitter and the right hand, they still have enough pieces of playoff pedigree, as I call it. Swing and a miss on the change up. Deg Grom with backto- back strikeouts and he’s had all three of his best pitches working here in the first. The arm side of the mound virtually unhitable. It’s 0 and two and a swing and a miss. Strike three. Jacob Deg Grom strikes out the side in the top of the first. man’s getting better. Swing and miss stuff. Paul and a legitimate Sai Young case for Hunter Brown this year. He’ll certainly finish. [Applause] There it was. Strike three on the outside part of the plate to Smith. 97 had him taking a look and it’s been all strikeouts so far in this game. just missed for ball four. So Brown walks Langford this year. Little chopper to first. Christian Walker, multiple time Gold Glove winner. An easy play for him there to take it to the bag. Langford advances to second base. Two down. That’s in there for strike three. So Brown clips the inside corner to strike out Burger. He fans two in the first and serves it out to right. Hit pretty well, but Harris has some room now in a few steps to make the catch. One out here in the second. Jake, turns on this one, grounds it to first. Burger has that. Degra covers for out number two. 19 when Keratini was a cub. Degra was still in New York. swing and a miss. The Gro’s been nasty early today. Couple of perfect innings and four strikeouts. Fortunately, we didn’t we didn’t get the run to win the game. There’s strike three on the outside corner to Harris and Brown nipping a corners here in the first couple of innings. All three of his strikeouts have been looking. There’s a ball rip through the middle. A base hit for Young. And the Rangers have the game’s first hit. Well, Young likes fast balls over the hitter. That’s a liner through a base hit for Asuna. So, backto back singles here in the second. And the Rangers trying to get something going here in the bottom of the second. Brown has three strikeouts so far in this one. All four. And he’s also issued a couple of walks in this one to Jonah Hine. Loads the bases with one out. It’s going and two on Durant and strike three at the top of the zone. A head start here with the bases loaded and two outs and Smith with a fly ball to left. Easy for Yordon Alvarez toward the line. Hunter Brown escapes treble in the second. Joe, thanks a lot. Wayne, back to you. Ken, thank you. Yeah, the answer basically good luck, but it’s Christian Walker driving one to center. It’s Langford back at the wall and it’s gone. Christian Walker 0 for13 lifetime against Deg Grom solves the riddle and it’s one- nothing Houston. Jacob Deg knows he left one out over the middle of the plate. 0 for 13. No more. Walker went up there with basically no confidence against a guy that owned him. And well, this one just spins right there. That’s a recipe for success for a hitter. When he sees that ball spinning, the seams get bigger and the ball goes far. Yer Diaz with a fly ball to center. Langford comes in. That’s the first down of the inning. I’ll take you over Statcast then. Swing and a miss. Undoubtedly the slider there and it’s strikeout number five for Deg Gro. One run and Walker ambushed that fast ball. Here’s Pñena. He gets a line drive base hit. Two out single for Pñena. Starting the second time through the order against you would have been a good idea. Alvarez lines it. It’s over the head of Young in the left field a base hit. Pñena is on his way to third base. He’ll make it. Alvarez strikes one the other way. It’s backto back two out singles. Why is this one to right center? It’s Lenford scooting over and Del minimizes the trouble. One run and a swing from even less than that now. Strike three call to Lenford. And all five strikeouts for Hunter Brown have come looking so far in this game. Peterson just wanted that ball to get off him. And it turns out to be an infield hit. A get off me ball swing and a base hit for Jock Peterson. Third hit for the Rangers. Couple of two strike hits in there. Now a soft bouncer from Burger. Kareah will play this to first. Close play. Burger is retired. The Royals have the lead tonight and so do the Mariners for that matter. Here’s a bouncer from Harris hustling down the line, but he’s thrown out by two. Still one- nothing Astros after three. The silver boot. The Astros have kept it in Houston for a while. A slicing liner to right. Moving over it is Harris. So he dropped the ball. Will get to first base. Harris had that one right in his glove. And oh, and he misses wide with that pitch. And he did again on that fast ball. It’s ball four to Sanchez. After the error, a walk and now the Astros. This one popped up in foul ground. Playable for Young and he makes the catch. Brown gets a big first down. He’d be on that list. Probably at the top of it. Bouncing ball. It’s Smith. He’ll go to third base and they get the lead runner there. Two outs with Kareah retired on the force. Defensive catcher. Slaps one to right. Coming in Harris and he makes the catch. A little bit of redemption. A running catch for Dustin Harris in their normal years. But you still want him in the lineup. Fly ball left center. Hit pretty well by Young. Alvarez chasing and he drops one. Young will get to second base as Yordon Alvarez got there but he couldn’t squeeze that one off the bat of Young. Swing and a foul tip strike three. So Brown gets another strike out. His sixth [Applause] in the air left field. Another chance for Alvarez. He grabs this one. Two outs. if they can do it without some of those guys for a while. There’s a popup on the infield as Altbe makes the play and Hunter Brown shakes off the error to start the inning. One hopper to third. Josh Young has that. He’s got a pretty good arm in his own right as he throws on Meyers. Pena goes down on strikes. That’s the sixth strike out for Deg Grom tonight. Two up, two down here in the fifth. Postseason innings. Guys are having their time on before they’re drafted. A lot of them are. Alvarez with a long fly to the right field corner. It is a fair ball and a home run as Alvarez socks one to give the Astros a two nothing lead. Well, it’s September and it’s out for us. 10 for 18 coming into this. Two more hits and a homer. The slugging is off the charts. There’s a change up that cuts. When a change up cuts, it’s like a dead fish fast ball. And the only thing that Alvarez was no was waiting to see is if that ball stays fair for Brown to give him an extra point on the board. Now Tuve goes down on strikes, but the Astros add a run on another long home run. Josh Smith yanks one into right field and the Rangers have their leadoff man on. The problem hasn’t been getting men on base. It’s been getting them home for Texas. They are 0 for seven first inning. Smith running and it’s ball four. So Smith gets to second base on the walk to Lenford. That’s a called third strike over the inside corner at the top of the zone. It is the sixth backward K for Hunter Brown tonight. Berner hits it right up the middle at Altbe. Flipped to Pena for one over to first for two. A double play as far as their starters go. There’s a looping liner that gets through a base hit for Korea. But it’s on one side of the plate. Swing and a miss by Sanchez. Another strike out for Deg Grom. He’s racked up eight here tonight. him earlier being a shortstop, not pitching much in college as he throws one to the back stop here and puts Kareah at second base with all the injuries too. He doesn’t have a lot of mileage on an arm that’s 37 years old. 3 and 0 on Victor Keratini. There’s ball four. It’s a walk. We see if Bruce Bochi wants to go to the bullpen now. He will. Walker hits a fly toward center field. It’s Langford sizing it up now. Moving over to make the catch. Two outs as we send it downstairs to Ken Rosenthal. The guys talking about Jacob de Ken. Thank you. And of course Ken has a Hall of Fame vote. Here is Yiner Diaz slapping one to right and it’s a base hit. It scores Koreah moving up to third base. Keratini. So another run off the Rangers charge to Deg Grom. Yiner Diaz an RBI double and it’s three nothing Houston. [Applause] bounce to Smith as that ends the inning, but a two-out run gives Houston some breathing room. It is three nothing Astros here. Swing and a miss. Couple of good change ups in that at bat. That’s probably where the other 6,000 were. Yeah. [Applause] Young pops this one up as Walker waits for it to come down. Two outs. Really works out well. There’s a one-two to Osuna and it’s chopped to the right side. Hunter Brown ties his careerhigh and in pitches thrown. 107 to get through six scoreless innings. Jeremy Pena leads off the seventh against Cole Win. It’s a one hopper down the third baseline. Young with a great play and a strong throw off balance to get the outs. Wow. a while. His careerhigh 37 in 2022. Goes down on strikes here. Two outs in the inning. 42. Ball four to Alua. Two1. Bounced in. Caught by Burger. They’ll take it to the bag to win the inning. as Hine bloops on left center. It’s Pñena rushing out making the running counts. A I’ll tell you what from in their bullpen tonight. Swing and a miss by Durant. Strike three. Socks fighting for their playoff spot. All four. And for now, Stubel and Crochet are about even in innings pitched. And Baldi was bidding to be the first. Langford goes down on strikes. Steo Sanentos to scoreless out of the bullpen. The Astros maintain a three-run leading off the eighth inning. This will be the eighth pitch. Smith drives it straight away center field. Langford a long run going back. Still going. It’s over his head and off the wall. Smith’s on his way to third base. He’ll make it easily. It’s a leadoff pinch hit triple for the rookie Cam Smith. He’s fired up. Gets hit by the pitch. Astros will have men on the corners here tonight if the Rangers don’t come back. Here’s a drive to the left field corner from Walker laying out. Osuna can’t get it. Smith scores around third. Carini gets the stop sign. It’s a run-scoring double for Christian Walker. for his second RBI tonight. Down four to nothing now. Diaz dribbles one in front of home plate. Time to first. Burger at the stretch gets the out. Myers lines a base hit to left. Trel scores. Walker will hold at third and the Astros keep pouring it on. 5 nothing they lead. ways one the homer the no hitter’s gone and the shut out’s gone if you’re going to give up break up the no hitter you got to give up just a single line drive base hit the other way for Alvarez another run is in as Walker scores three runs in the inning for Houston as they build a six nothing advantage extremely tough out has had an amazing career bouncer was short. Close play at second. Mauricio Duban pinch running for Alvarez is called out at second. Well, I didn’t cover him as a player, but I did cover him as a manager, Wayne. 199697 and those were two fun years. Davy Johnson was the smartest guy in the room and he knew he was the smartest guy in the room. You had to be a colorful figure if you’re going to manage the 86 minutes. Here’s a fly ball to right center from Burger. Long run. Meyers caught up to it, made the catch, absorbed the contact off the wall, and that’s why the Astros were so keen on getting Meyers back in center field. Just got back off a calf injury. So, hope he’s okay after that as Walker has this one. It’s a quick inning for Jaden Murray thanks to the Twins. He strikes out here as a full no trade clause. He said he only would have waved it for the Astros. [Applause] Oh my goodness. [Applause] Rift to the right field corner. A base hit. Smith makes his way to third base. Trel heads for second with a double. Astros have runners on second and third. I was part of um I was part of Cal Ripken’s six for six night payroll and rosters and competitiveness. A looper in the left to base hit. More runs for the Astros. Two come in as Diaz makes it eight to nothing. [Music] Grounded to third. Kicked by Young and his throw off the marks. So another error in this game. Second by Texas tonight. There’s soft roller. Young with a bare hand and a good effort, but too late to get Pña. has another hit. More runs. Duban singles in two more. Those are the unear and before the record. It is 10 zip here tonight inside of their third catcher. Salazar grounder up the middle. Diving stop. Smith shovels to second, but it’s too late. Another run. 11 nothing on Korea. That ends the inning. Another hitless performance from the Rangers with men in scoring position as Young sends one to left center. It’s Duban making the play. One out. Joe has spotted to think about in potential October matchups if they want to try to lock down their defense with a lead late. Here’s Smith under that one to retire Sunna. Then that homefield advantage never mattered. All Astros though tonight, the team at top the American League West with a firm hold on it tonight. They beat the Rangers 11 to nothing. This pitcher duel turned into a blowout. as Houston wins big here in Arlington. We’ll be back to wrap things up in just a moment.

Thanks Chili!
We sent McCormick away too early, he could have pitched the ninth….
Clobbered em that time! Woo
It's like feast or famine with these boys… glad we got the W!!
Thanks again Chili Man!
👍👍👍🤟🤟🤟
🔥🔥🎆⭐
About damn time!
Anyone else notice that in the 6th inning after the pitcher is changed that the score went from 2-0 to 3-0 with Correa on 2nd and 2 outs.
We later score the 3rd run!
Interesting 🧐
I’ll take it!!!
Gg stros! Nice shutout
8:31, real original (same design in Houston)
and isn’t weird how FAR altuve is away from the plate??? I never understood that, same for gian carlo , how do you give yourself a chance…
Thank you Chili!
Happy for the Astros win but i won't get carried away… Let's hope this good form continues.
And Finally the team backed Hunter Brown with some offense…
To paraphrase Will Smith from Bad Boys "Now that's how you supposed to play, from now on, that's how you play!!"
My god… how everything has gone this year while knowing the capabilities of this group but only receiving sadness and disappointment, this was a treat. To see how functional the team CAN be is nice especially with no contribution from Altuve.
This was a spanking fresh out the 🚿… Way to go H Town
This lineup was absolutely perfect. Please, Joe. We need more of this.
Seeing Yordan, Walker, and Diaz hitting like that has me cautiously optimistic.
5 tool is back, we are going to win it all now 🥰
I want to know how there are over 6K views……but only 400+ likes…..make it make sense Chili??????
