I cannot BELIEVE what we just witnessed…
I cannot believe what we just witnessed from Ivon Deidov and the rest of the Habs prospects in their first game of the prospect showdown versus the Winnipeg Jets. Nothing was left disappointed except for the final result. But Ivon Deidov, Florian Jackey, David Rybacher, Oliver Kapp, and Jacob Fowler literally did everything that you could have possibly wanted, including nasty digs, nasty goals, some incredible saves. So many things to love about this game. And if you were even if you even had a single question about the Habs future, this should quell all of the concerns. We get to dive into everything that happened in this game and despite the loss, how this has me more hyped for the Habs and I think I have been in a long long time. All that coming up on this episode and there’s so many things I want to get into cuz obviously we want to get into Demigod, our boy Ivon Deidov, the reactions that we had from Lane and Gayen Gouly slap up in the booth among other guys. But you know there’s so many guys I want to talk about. I mean, let’s just let’s just start with the lineups because it was a cool game to see a lot of different guys playing different positions. And what I love to see uh especially again, we’ll get to the top guys in a moment. Philip Mashar playing a lot of center. I thought he really impressed me tonight. Angstrom and Rybacher, we knew this was something that was coming. And hey, they did not disappoint either. Rybacher was so so so good. Fowler and Vic Vanig in net. And I know a lot of people are going to want to crap on Vic Vandex for letting in four goals on not very many shots while Fowler got through the first half of the game without letting in a single goal with some great saves. Sure, but guess what? Fowler’s the future. You know what? You you can’t really solely put this loss on VC Vanics. Yeah, it hurts, but whatever. There’s so many guys or Owen Pros laid an absolutely bone crushing hit. I don’t I wish I could have all these videos. There’s so many things I want to show. Owen PRZ showed up tonight and showed why he had that bill of being the most violent player on the ice at any time. That was part of his scouting report. If you remember when we drafted him, the Brford Bulldogs just seemed to keep putting out these big guys who loved to hit. Florian Arbor and now Owen PR all coming through the Habs organization. He was so so so good to watch tonight. But again, I look up front, there’s a lot of guys that made their mark. Tyler Thorp, yeah, he got some penalties. He loved to get into the dirty stuff. He was big. He laid some hits, had some great shots, some great rushes. What honestly took me by surprise with Thorb and maybe it shouldn’t have taken me by surprise because we saw a lot of this last year but his speed like his shot is great. He’s 6’5 230 but his speed was beyond impressive playing on that line with Beck and Roarer. These guys just thought the game very well and Thorp insulated them with a bit of physicality while Owen Beck and Vincent’s Roar were playing a nice little skill game. I mean again in the bottom six there’s not a whole lot to to love or to hate. Like I didn’t love the fourth line. I didn’t expect any of them to blow my socks off and they didn’t. But they, you know, they did their job. Mishar I thought played better than a third line center tonight which is what I was really impressed by. But again, why why wait? Let’s get into these top guys and we’ll get into meet in a bit. David Rybacher, I mean, you know, we’ve been showing this clip for ages. Look at how smooth he was. Smooth is the one word I would use to describe him and even Adam Angstrom, both of them tonight. But David Rybacher, my goodness, what a clinic. This guy looked just like we saw last year, NHL ready. like everything he did felt like he was a step ahead of the defense and well I guess the offense he was a step ahead of whoever was near him and Ivon Deidovv was two steps ahead which again we’ll get to him in just a moment but Rybacher showed in this game that he might very well take one of these defense spots out of camp because like right now you know we have kind of five guys that are pretty solidified in our decor and that being Gulie Hudson Mat Dobson and Kerier and then you have Jack and Strubel on the outside looking maybe fighting for that spot and you like we’ve been saying for a while you should add Rybacker and even to some extent Angstrom to that list but Rhybacker beyond impressed me tonight. I mean we’ll roll some of the clips because uh like what he did on this power play goal where Didov sends it over to captain was unreal. But like you can just watch these clips while I’m talking about Rybucker cuz I just love watching Ivon Deidov. We’ll get to him in a minute. But Rybacher was so smooth. So many smart plays with the puck. He didn’t make any mistakes. He was fast. He was covering the defense. And right here, look at this. take it one step pass, take a nice reception and of course that deitov pass into the goal was amazing. Um, a fully healthy season is all we need from Rybacher. This dude will be playing games for the Habs before you know it. But the big story tonight of course was that first line. Florian and Jackey, Oliver Kappa and Ivon Deidov. And Florian and Jackie, what I love to see tonight is that him and Demit had a lot of chemistry, right? Like this is one thing we’ve been saying is like you just find the right fit alongside a guy like Ivon Deidov and that’s kind of all you need. Like you don’t need the most skilled goalcorer in the world to go next to him. Though Florian Jaci definitely did his fair share of goalc scoring last year. You just need someone that fits that play style that thinks at the same speed as Ivon Deidov. And surprisingly maybe maybe not. But Florian Jagai was right there with him every step of the way. There were very few moments in this game where it felt like they weren’t on the same page. And that is a very interesting thing because last year when we saw Demit even come on to the team, he was thinking three steps ahead from the first moment he set foot on the ice. But another guy that did that was Lane Hudson last year. It took his teammates a little while to get used to his playmaking style, his ability to make these crazy plays. And once they did, hey, it started to work out for Lane Hudson and getting more points. But Florian was right there with Ivon Deidov the whole way this game. Of course, getting that first goal of the night, which you’ll see here in a minute. Florian was out there with Ivon playing some amazing amazing hockey. And I really love what I saw from him. And there’s a lot of people saying like this guy might just take one of these forward spots. And honestly, like it wouldn’t completely shock me if that was the case. Again, there there’s some right here. Here’s the goalie. Ivon Deidov digs in and Florian just crashing the net. Florian was in front of the net the whole night. Like the entire time he was t he probably tipped three or four shots right onto the goalie. And credit to the Jets goalie. He was really really good. Um but yeah, like Florian Jackie has a shot to steal one of these last forward spots. Is it possible he takes a spot over Kaan, over Beck, over even like a Joe Valeno and like takes that 13th forward spot over Sammy Blade, the NHL veteran? I think so. I think it’s possible for what he’s brought. His ability to play with skilled players plus his physical aspect is really interesting combo when you’re looking at team construction. So, love what I saw from him, but I mean, of course, the star today is Ivon Deidov. Um, I just want to say like it looked like he was head and shoulders above everyone by like a more than a country mile. Like I don’t even know like a country 5k, a country 10k, like a country freaking like country size. Like he was just so much better than everyone on the ice. It wasn’t even close. He made it look like child’s play. That play to chip it over the stick into the deak into the goal was one of the craziest things we saw. Of course, yeah, it sucked that they scored a minute later, but this deak here going into this play down here on the boards where he sends a guy flying face first into the backboard like just ridiculous when you watch these plays. This is a season’s worth of deaks and highlights for Ivon Deidov and it happened in one game. Yes, is it a rookie showcase kind of prospect showdown? Yeah, of course it is. But like when you’re head this much head and shoulders above every single other player that you are playing against, this just like remember a lot of these guys in these games are going to go on to have successful NHL careers. Not all of them, but a good number of them. And Ivon Deidov was the best. And it was not even close. There are some highly touted prospects here. Um, you know, Braden Joerger, uh, Kevin He was good. And and the Jets had a few other guys who had really, really good games tonight. But it was Ivon Deidov that stood out the most among everyone simply for his pure skill and his ability to think the game not one step ahead like some people, but two, even three steps ahead. Like that power play goal where he receives the pass from Rybacher immediately, a one-time assist over to Oliver Kappa. There was a few times tonight where Deminov made a pass and the person wasn’t quite ready for it or they were but they couldn’t receive it cleanly. And I just wonder like what if that’s Patrick Lane? What if that’s Nick Suzuki, Cole Cfield, Yuri Slavkovsky, whoever on the team receiving that pass that’s going in the back of the net. Everything he did tonight was insane. Like beyond insane. And his defensive game, while yeah, you know, it’s not the thing that stands out the most. He had a couple of reasonable plays in the defensive end. I will say Florian Jackey and Philip Mashar each had a handful of really nice defensive plays. Some nice stick lifts and poke checks. Florian honestly like his two-way game was ridiculous. Like I I loved what I saw from him tonight. Kappan was solid. But Ivon Deidov, I mean look, this guy is an absolute menace. This pick is going to go down as one of the best picks of the last number of years, fifth overall. I’m so excited to see what he can do this season. I know you guys are too. These highlights are just beyond ridiculous. And if you watch the game, every single time he was on the ice, you knew something special was coming. So, leave some love for Ivon Deid, Florian Jackey, Rhybacker, even Jacob Fowler, who led in zero goals, had some had some great saves. Let us know your thoughts on all of that down below, cuz that’ll do it for this episode of Habs Digest. Boy, am I ever excited. If you enjoyed, leave a like, comment, subscribe. Holy Molly is it Habs season already?
Reinbacher got walked. And plays too soft. I like him but has some work to do still.
I swear its so unlikely but if verbeek stops being so stingy and does something with mctavish ill scream.
Banger already i thought i was not going to see a video until tmrw morning but OFC THIS AMAZING CHANNEL HOOKS ME UP WITH late night content:)
Habs outplayed them like crazy.
how can you say Reinbacher was so so so good???? He clearly needs more time before NHL if this game is his level. he refuses to one time anything. Yes he has a long reach but he has to use his body more and got horribly undressed on Jets 2nd goal right after being out of position on the PK…. Lets call it like it is and not be a fanboy channell!!!!!! Yes Reinbacher can skate and pass well…..but he is far from a top 2 dman right now. He will get there but he is clearly not ready for an everyday nhl dman
Reinbacher went fishing instead of taking the body on the 2-2 goal against. He didnt make any mistakes? take the rose colored glasses off.
I WAS AT THE GAME AND IT WAS AWSOME! sad the end didn’t result in a victory but everything else like you said was good.
Its a good thing a win is win thou
That demidov pass at 0:27 what SOOOOO Kuch-like😩😩😩 omg it excites me!
DemiGod 🔵⚪️🔴
Can you please remove this demiG*d blasphemy? It's disrespectful
Josh, I will be in 102 for the game tomorrow! Come say hello
Reinbacher needs more time in the AHL. He lost so much playing time being that bad team, was rescued to Laval and injuries. No need to rush him i to the NHL right away.
Everyone performed like they should expect that reibacher disappointed me a bit. No good surprises either from others.
I really don't like big guys especially D – men who don't play big. One example is Jared Tinordi . I hope Reinbacher stays a year or half a year in Laval and work on his psyicality to his set of tools. Not talking about being a fighter or the next Stevens but develop an edge and some grit. He is a big boy and should be playing the body, clearing out the front of his net and make players think twice cutting across when he's on the ice.
nahhh demidov hes too insane
Regardless they lost !
Reinbachers lack of physical play exposed by Yoder who left him gasping for air !
You are as passionate as usual but a little less loud… family’s asleep at this hour? 😂😂 keep going 👍Demidov is way above the others
Defense could be better.
Tyler Thorpe looked good out there, but I disagree and we win this with Fowler in for the full 60 minutes 100%. Demidov was spectacular but needs a back checking centre especially if Patrick Laine is going to be on the second line too.
Florian, Demidov and Fowler delivered as expected. Protz and Kapanen surprised me with their solid play. I've seen Engstrom, Reinbacher and Thorpe do better. Mesar and Rohrer were ok. Tuch and Beck were disappointing, was hoping to see more from these 2. After watching this game, Kapanen and Xhekaj look to be ready to fight for that last spot. It will be interesting to see how they do compared to Roy, Veleno and Blais. I'll give Kapanen a slight edge over Florian only because Florian was a rookie last year. But honestly if Florian has another tremendous season with the Rocket, he could easily be an early callup. His physicality and nose for the net, put him a step above many players on the Rocket.
Easy Josh. Yer jumping out of your skin, lol.
Josh you need to edit that stats photo yourself and get Ivan in a Habs jersey.
Fowler is gonna be our guy for so many years hes a champ 🏆 lfg Fowler
can you imagine the chaos two Xhekajs would make.
Sorry…by reinbacher will never make the nhl
Show elite prospect page instead of db
Reinbacher had a bad game !
Got home at midnight (Upstate NY). This was my daughter's first game and she had a great experience!
The hype behind Demidov is real. In pre game he was F-ing around with the puck and it was kinda mind blowing. By far, he was the best player on the ice tonight. No one remotely compared. That is not a knock.
He really is that good.
We enjoyed a great evening of hockey. There was a lot of talent out there. Florian & Reinbacher may not start the season on the main roster but there's a good chance they finish the season on main. I kept an eye on #56 Will Dineen as he's a "hometown" guy. He's not NHL ready yet… But… If the Habs need a guy that can throw down on quick notice… He suits the bill…
If the Habs didn't pull Fowler after one period and let him play two… They easily win this. The gentleman sitting next to me didn't speak a word of English… And, we both agreed on it, lol!
Demidov has to be careful that won't work in the NHL, players will bash him like that, only deeke if you are open, because they will destroyt you in the end…
