D-backs vs. Twins Game Highlights (9/14/25) | MLB Highlights

Well, the first two games of this series have each finished with a pretty serious uh final inning with teams scoring and putting up crooked numbers late. The Twins walked it off with a three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth on Friday. And then the Diamondbacks got even last night. And the Diamondbacks are still very much in play for the postseason. Only two back for the final wildcard spots. It’ll be a challenge for Bailey over today, Morning, especially with his fast ball because Arizona has the second highest slug against fast balls of any team in baseball. And Ober’s day will start with Peraldo Peromo. First couple of innings, Perdomo high and deep to right, sending Walner back from Sun to Shade. He’ll make the play. And that is out number one. Del Marte the DH line to right. Walner coming in. He’ll make the play. Two outs. And here’s Corbin Carroll facing Big Bailey. Carol down on strikes. It’s a one, two, three. Top of the first inning. Dangerous Byron Buckton sent to lead it off for the Twins against Nabil Chrismat, 30-year-old right-hander. Well, we’re hoping that Nabil Chrismat will dazzle once again. I always say dazzle because you wonder how he gets guys out with his variety of offspe pitches. It’s been fun to watch. Jumps on another first pitch and hits a sinking liner that Corbin tracks down for the first out. So, it’s going to bring up Austin Martin, the left fielder. Like we said, that’s the putaway pitch and he picks up his first strike out. And unlike a lot of starting pitchers, he’ll throw that change up two, three, four times in a row if he feels it’s the right pitch against an opposing hitter. That was a really good one right there. Promotion of Cody Clemens, who’s now batting third. This won’t be caught. And Clemens adds to those numbers. It was a change up and Cody now seven for 10 against the Diamondbacks. And a two-on knock for Cody. And that will continue this inning for Luke Kishaw. Yeah, a change up in a hitter’s count just off the plate. And when you’re swinging the bat, well, those things seem to find a way to fall in front of those outfielders. He show 314 average, four homers, 26 driven in. And strike three called, painted one on the outside edge. And the inning comes to a close. He strikes out two. Does Chris Matt. He works around the two out single. Oh, one of the highlights that last night provided by Alec Thomas. This one’s going to split the gap. And Alec Thomas is on the run as it gets to the wall. Buckston gets to it out there. It’s a two out double for AT. And that’s the Diamondback’s first hit. Well, you could tell that ball was in the gap right off the bat. The way they were playing him defensively out there in center and right field. There was no way either outfielder was going to catch up to that drive. Here is James McCann. Right-handed hitting catcher getting the start place of Moreno. McCann just kept running. Nice throw. It’s into left field. There comes Alec. No throw for Martin. And the Diamondbacks have a one- nothing lead. James McCann back at target field with the RBI hit. Back to back, two out knocks. Royce Lewis, the third baseman. Great movement on the change up and now Lewis adjusts to another change up. Brought the body down a little bit and build up the baseball. 93 off the bat and Lewis has a one out single. Twins have their second hit off Chrismat today. Gasper’s 10th start behind the plate. Royce runs and the pitch inside. Throw to second base. Won’t get him. I just I love the freedom and the expectations. It’s almost like if you get on first base and there’s two outs at some point in the first three pitches, we want you to go and get yourself in the scoring position again. The 3-2 and a check swing. Didn’t mean to third and a bobble by Lawler and Gasper is safe. Well, perhaps there for a moment Lewis got in the ey line of Lawler trying to field that ground ball and that forced some timing issues for the third baseman. And this inning continues now for Julian. That’ll play just fine into left center. That’ll score Lewis. Gasper trying for third. He’s going to make it. So a two out run scoring game tying knock from Julian and it’s 1-1 here at Target Field. Well, if he wasn’t sitting change up, he saw this right out of the hand. Exactly what you got to do with a guy like this. Not going to overpower you. Just trust that at some point in the at bat, you got a runner in scoring position, your left-handed hitter, he’s probably going to throw you a change up. And now you deal with Byron Buckton with two runners on base in a tie game. Everybody stays as Byron bounces to third. That’s a fair ball. Lawler better hurry. His throw gets away. Gasper scores. Julian to third. Buckton on his way to second. Speed in play. Put the ball on the ground. Use your legs. And the Twins have their first lead today. Blaze a strikeout victim. His first time. That’s the fast ball at 90. That sinker running in the right-hander. Oh, no guard on that left arm. Here comes Max Espazito to have a look. Now he’s going to take the base. One out runner now for Lawler. Hard to third and fair down the line. He smashed it at Carams off the padding out there. Blaze is into third and Lawers in standing second with a double. So that’s two down in the fourth and the batter will be James McCann. McCann drives it deep to left field. That ball’s on its way and it’s gone. James McCann who hit his first ever homer here at Target Field and inside to Parker and that one’s out of here. And with one swing, McCann has knocked in four runs. It’s better when you hit him over the fence. You don’t have to run as hard. The RBI single in the second and the three-run homer in the fourth. All four RBI’s by McCann with two outs. Tatawa will lead off the fifth. Swung on a miss. Nice breaking ball. Here’s strikeout number seven for Bailey Ober. And that ties a season high for him. Gerhigh is 12 punch outs. Marte over for two. He’s lined out. Slide out. Swinging a miss. struck him out in a change up. So lengthy at bat. Marte strikes out. Eight punch outs for over today through five to Matty Walner. Walner getting a start in right field 0 for two. How about a homer? How about a big swing right center field and Morno with the call. Matt Walner a solo home run. His 22nd and this is now a one-run game. You were saying Mr. Morno. Yeah. A little 3-1 sinker. Get yourself in a hitter’s count. They’ve been challenged with fast balls. He didn’t miss this one. He was ready. Ready to fire in that part. From the belt to the knees. He absolutely murders that baseball. And pitching change. Bailey Ober departs in a one-run game. Gives way to lefty Hennessa. Alec Thomas who homered last night and doubled today. Starts off the seventh. Swinging a line drive that’s in center field. A base hit. A two strike knock for Alec Thomas and he is aboard to start this seventh inning. Well, there’s an RB big eye out there for Tim Tawa. If you can find a two-out hit, he was 0 for two against over. Timmy delivers. Dunks it into right center. This will get Thomas home. Tim has done it again and he makes it 53 Diamond Bay. Boy, has he had a trip or what? He has been terrific. What a base hits over there on that right side of the field. Tawa takes advantage, just guides one out there toward the gap in right center to score Thomas. Back out for the seventh and Gasper to right sending Carol back to the wall. He will turn and that is gone. Mickey Gasper’s second big league home run and the Twins are back to within one. It’s 54 and what is once again a one-run game. Corbin 0 for three today. He has had a difficult road trip in front of Buckton and that will get down Corbin Carroll a base hit to get it started in the eighth. Vargas bounces it into right. Corbin gets the read. Wallner’s got it out there and Corbin’s in standing up at third. Jordan Lawler. Jordan doubled in the fourth inning and scored a run on the Macan home run. And Lawler took one right in the back. A sweeper just didn’t sweep from Tonkan. Alec Thomas will come up with a bases full and no outs. Alex already had a big day. He has singled, doubled, and scored twice. Alex sends it out to left. It’s right at Martin. Here comes Corbin. Throw is cut off and it’s six to four. Mhm. Here is McCann who has driven in four of their six runs. James had an RBI single in the second and a three-run home run into fourth. And that is a perfect pitch right on the outside corner. Great sequence there from Tonkin. Back up the middle. Brooks lead to the backhand. Picks it up smoothly. Throws to first on a quick transfer and he gets his man to end the inning. Anthony Dclani has given up two home runs in two innings. Back out there for the eighth. And a base hit to left center. 02 count. And Keshaw fought off a few a sinker to his liking and he is on base here in the eighth inning. So now it’s up to Roy who’s one for three in the hole. Shorts stop Permo long throw pulled. Tawa off the bag and Lewis is safe. Keshaw to third and the Twins not done yet here in the eighth inning. It was a similar spot where seeing a couple balls roll through the infield. Looked like Purdomo was over there playing them. the pole had plenty of time and then just sailed it. So Brooks Lee coaxes a two-out walk. Mickey Gasper spot do up. He will not bat. Arizona brings in lefty Jaylen Beaks. Twins counter that move with right-handed hitting Carson McCusk. Ground ball to short. Purdomo has it and a quick little feed over to second in time for the force out. The inning is over and the Twins load him up but do not score. We go to the ninth. Dex six, Minnesota fourth. Ryan Thompson gets the baton. He did not pitch at the San Francisco series against the Giants. He has pitched in every game in this one. To the right side into right field. It’s all they needed. Somebody to get on to bring up the tying run. It will be Cody Clemens. Arizona with a lefty up in its bullpen. And we’ll see what Tory Lavell will do. And he is going to make a move. So it’s round two. Bakus and Clemens. Game possibly on the line. Tying run is on. Winning run in L. Keith Shaw, who has two walk-off swings this season, including a walk-off home run against Kansas City just a few weeks ago. Ouch. And Keith Shaw will wear that. It does present a lefty lefty matchup, but now loads the bases. Puts the tying run into scoring position. Puts the winning rung on. And here comes Matt Walner. Wner lifts it out to right. Corbin Carol backing up in front of the warning track. And Corbin’s got it. And Kyle Bakus gets that final out and the Diamondbacks get the series win and they get back to 500.
