Cardinals vs. Brewers Game Highlights (9/14/25) | MLB Highlights
It is a picture perfect Sunday for the final game of the series. Brewers going after a clean sweep and it is a former Cardinal on the mound. Jose Kintana. And Vinnie, he’s been excellent. 11 and six this year, an erra sub4. He has done exactly what the Brewers have asked him to all year. Two up and two down for Berles. Two to Berles and a strike out to end the first inning. One, two, three go the Cardinals in the top half of inning number one. Miles Michaels goes to work for the Cardinals. His 29th start of the season. He is facing the Brewers for the second time. Brad, he faced him June 15th. Two earned runs in six innings of work. S Felix ready to go. And that’s a bullet in right field. A base hit. And Felix Ball is underway with a single. There you go. So the offense picks up right where it left off from the late innings last night. Route number one. Christian Yelich coming up. He’s nine for 45 in his career against Michaels. Yelich whips one left center down a base hit. Church able to block it to keep it in front and Yelich with a one out single. The Brewers get something cooking here in the first inning. Two outs after the popup and Bryce Terang hits. He’s just one for nine in the series. Two speedy base runners aboard. Terra chops one. That is going to be a fair ball. Wow, that is an interesting call by Jeremy Rehack. Terra rarely argues like that and he is really upset and Bryce Tang is adamant that that did not go over the corner of the base. Dang is out, two left on. We go to the second, no score in Milwaukee. Oh, taking back towards we go to play in the second inning. Oh, Thomas a JC and a base hit broken back. And there’s more wood for the winter fire right there. And so JC now is two for two as a cleanup hitter with a single and a three-run homer. So a strike for the Cardinals. Here’s Nolan Gorman. Got to get Gorman going in these final two weeks. Puts this one in play. That’s curling away from Churio and center. And that’s going to get down to the warning track. And Gorman on his way to second. So JC will stop at third. They’re second and third. Nobody out. See if we can take a second inning lead here. Pedro PZ is the hitter. Fly ball shallow right. Freelick is in under. Sets up. Makes the catch. The Brewers concede the run. The throw is going to come to third. It deflects off the back of Dorman. And there’s a break. Everybody’s safe. And the Cardinals lead one- nothing. And in the dirt, first and third, one in, one out. For me’s coming up. Shaky second inning here for Kintana. Lind into center field. A base hit. It’s two nothing Cardinals. Arine does have that elusive first hit against the Brewers. That scores Nolan Gorman and the parade continues in the top of the second. Number nine hitter Nathan Church coming up. Runners go and that’s going to be outside. No throw. Two and two is the count. Jansen wisely eats that double steel. This inning is starting to look like a mess right now for Kintana right here. A swing in the back could bring in two more. On the ground off the glove at second. And that’ll score a run and everybody’s safe. It hit Terraang in the heel of the glove. Walker scores to make it three to nothing. And they’re still first and third. What a sequence for Church mean third. And now Nar is coming up. Runner goes. Pitch is a ball. Ah. Fine. Breaks too soon from third. They’ve got him in a rund down. And instead of bases loaded, you’ve got first and third, two outs. Nice break for Kintana. Herrera now with two outs. Got him right down the middle. Caught him guessing. It’s a nightmarish inning for José Kintana. The Cardinals get three runs. Three nothing Cardinals. Urban is three out of six in the series. He lines Allen off the glove of Foreman. Fair ball and Durban picking about two. He’s on his way. Throw comes in late. Caleb Durban shot out of the cannon every day. And he’s into second with a lead off double in the second inning. So backto-back punch outs after the leadoff double. Andrew Monasterio. Michael has struck out three in a row after surrendering a leadoff double facing Alec Burlson to start this third. Got a hold of Cardinals right there. Jam shot. Little flare. Cheerio got a late break and he comes in to make the catch. I mean the end of that was a highlight. The start of it not so much. Cheerio got a very late break on that ball and had to throw it into fifth gear to put that one down. One away in the third. Here’s Jackson Cheerio. Pitch is on the ground. Third diving stop. Gorman from a knee. Quick release and what a play. It’s the best play he’s made this season by far. And a good stretch toward the home plate side of first by Burles to help him out. He threw it from one knee. Could not have been better. And Burley was ready for it. You’re right, man. That was awesome. That was a great play. Five in a row retired by Michael. Yellow singled his first time. Swing and a miss. Michael has struck out four batters. Six straight. We go to the fourth. Three nothing Cardinals with two outs. And now here’s Durban. Durban. Fly ball left field. Fair foul. It is a fair ball. Home run. Caleb Durban sneaks one inside the foul pole. He’ll touch them all. His 11th home run of the season. And the Brewers are on the board with a two out lightning strike by Durban. and he gets the barrel on it and keeps it fair and just sneaks it right inside the Fton foul pole for his 11th homer of the season. Dur a double in his first at bat. Now a homer getting it going for the crew. Down three to one. We’re in the bottom of the fifth inning. Danny Jansen will start it against Miles Michaels. Uh-oh. Danny Jansen. This is going to be his first as a Brewer and he can enjoy that ride around the bases. A no doubter 12th homer of the year. His first in a Brewers uniform. And it’s 3 to2 Cardinals. This feels like one of those games where the Brewers are going to climb back into this one after a home run in last inning from Durban. Danny Jansen gets on the board with his first home run as a Milwaukee Brewer. And the Brewers are now within one run against the Cardinals. There is John King. He takes over for Miles Michael. One up, one down. Andrew Vaughn’s going to grab a bat and pinch hit. Chopper. Big top spinner through for a base hit. He’s got a one out single. The tying run is on. Brings up Bryce Terang. Tang’s 0 for two. There’s a bouncer through for a base hit. First and second now. Brewers threatening Caleb Durban who’s had the hot hand tonight. Two hits, a double, and a homer. 3-2, one out, tying run at second. See if Durban can deliver. King deals. Durban strikes out. Change up. Good work, too. Two outs in the inning now. Looks like it’s going to be Blake Perkins. Ali Marvel makes a call to the pin. The new pitcher, Jorge Ala. And that ball’s driven in the gap right center right at Jordan Walker. 32 is our score at the end of six. Jared Kanig on the mound for the Brew Crew. Trying to keep the score right where it’s at so the Brewers can hopefully work some of their magic again, their comeback magic. One way here is Thomas Sajay-Z was a cold strike three. Kanik just wipes out Sajay-Z on three pitches. Two up, two down with a K. Two gone for Nolan Gorman. Backto-back K is for Kanik. One-run game. 32 St. Louis leads for Yoel Pymps. Two gone in this ninth inning. A two out hit by pitch from Yoel Py and Church will come to the plate. Three balls in a strike and it’s ball four. Py gets the first two quickly now two men aboard. Hit batter in a walk. Ball four. Bases loaded. Two quick outs and now they’re loaded for one of the Cardinals best hitters and Ivon Herrera. It’s a one-run game. Pyam’s trying to keep it that way. Base is loaded. Two outs. Here’s the O2 and he got him back to a fast ball. Pots got himself into some hot water but he turned off the burners and strikes out Herrera to end the top of the ninth. More magic in the Brewers bats. We’ll find out next. Last chance saloon for the Brewers. Two outs, nobody on for Andrew Monasterio trailing three to2. And that one just missed. Monasterio with the eagle eye a fraction off the plate at 97 mph. He is aboard as the tying run, the winning run is at the plate. Freelick doubled off O’Brien last night, hoping for some magic here in the ninth. Freelick strikes out. O’Brien locks down the save and the Cardinals salvage the final game of this series. Brewers take two out of three. They have clenched a postseason birth on this home stand. Enjoy the off day tomorrow and get back at it in a couple of
