🔴 Los Angeles Angels vs Seattle Mariners – Sep 13, 2025 | Full Game SIM | MLB The Show 25

From the home of the Mariners since 1999, T-Mobile Park here in Seattle. An AL West matchup on the show. It’s the Los Angeles Angels taking on the Seattle Mariners. And now first pitch coming at you right after the break. So almost ready to get underway. Getting the nod on the mound. Bryce Miller. Well, coming into this game, hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher. So it just shows you how effective he’s been. He’s been able to move his pitches around, add and subtract, change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable and start squaring up the baseball. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. Now at the plate, Mike Trout. And a major milestone is right around the corner. One home run short of 400 for his career. Hot shot to third. And the first out of the game is an easy one. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup and a big part of it, a guy with a great track record, Mike Trout. And Boo, he’s the table setter for this offense. Team leader and on base percentage. I mean, that just gives your teammates plenty of chances to cash in and bring him around to score. Man, I used to love when I had a guy out in second base or third base. Easy to get those RBI’s. Game after game, you know, a guy like this, what he’s going to provide and the opportunities that other guys are going to get in the lineup. Zack Neto in the box here. Lets that one go for a ball. Was good pitch there. Really had some run and finished. Little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it. He had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. There’s the strike and it’s two and one. One out. Base is empty. Next offering is fouled back. struck him out looking called strike three and a fast ball up in the zone. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter and I’m sure that’s going to sit on him for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. Yawan Monata stands in now. Looks at that one inside. sliced hard but foul. And a pitch and he chases that one. Angels retired. One, two, three. Angels nothing. Mariners coming to bat. It’s Major League Baseball on the show back in Seattle. And today’s starter, Kyle Hendris. And Singy. It’s unique these days, but he’s more of a pitch to contact type of guy. Yeah. He doesn’t rely too heavily on the strike out. He knows he needs to miss barrels, get some soft contact, let the defense do work behind him. And I think a guy like that can keep a good tempo, don’t give hitters time to adjust or think they can move through a ball game and you look off, they’re in line for a quality start. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. Next offering is in for a strike. to the right side tosses to first. One gone bottom half of the first. And now we check out the Mariners lineup. This group was shut out their last game. So we’re going to see if they can bounce back with a better effort here today. And Boo, it can get in your head a little bit when you get shut out. You’re frustrated. you’re seeing that consecutive streak of innings you haven’t scored and you want to get off to a great start, score early because if you don’t, you feel like it could linger into two consecutive games which no one wants to be a part of. Cal Raleigh stands in here, takes ball one low. That’s a strike. Swing and a miss and the count. One and two. Good late sink on that fast ball out of the hand. Looks so good. And then by the time he gets in the hitting zone, hard to get the barrel to it. That misses the zone and it’s two and two. [Music] That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Missed with a change up and the count’s full downstairs. And that’s ball four. Boo. If I were him, I’d be nibbling around the plate as well. I mean, this guy’s just capable of hitting pitches outside of the zone and driving them a long way. And now it’s Julio Rodriguez. Ground ball could be two. Fired to second over to first. Safe. Good fade and sinking action of that change up. Got that hitter to roll over. And now it’s Josh Naylor. Obviously a guy who makes good contact, hits for average, but one of the things in today’s game, the value in the fact that he hits both righties and lefties. Move over to first. Try to keep him close. It immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. They’re so reliant on the matchups nowadays, Chris. And it’s huge when you don’t have to sit a guy or platoon him when you can hit, you know, both sides. Runner on the go. Pitch in for a strike. Wide throw and it gets away. Throw pulls him off the bag and he’s saved. Well, the pressure is on and he knew he had to have a quick release behind the plate if he was going to have any chance of catching him at second. He’s got great speed and in this case, it resulted in moving up two bases. That’s what happens when you aren’t able to get your feet under you and square up to second properly. Out towards right center. That’s well struck. That’s back there. In comes the first run of the game. It’s one- nothing Mariners. [Music] Still able to come through behind in the count right there. Just missed out on a home run right there, but he certainly hit it hard enough. just didn’t have the right launch angle to carry it over the wall, but still an excellent swing of the bat. The batter now, Jorge Palano. Just missed. close, but call the ball and it’s two and 0. No need to go right at this guy. First base is open. He can hurt you, so make him expand his zone. If he doesn’t, give him a walk. There’s the strike and it’s two and one in today’s game. Not that many fast ball counts, but hitters still in the back of their minds. They’re looking for one. Two change up call right there. Excellent pitch selection to go with. Man on second, two down. Swings through that one. Filthy chain up right there. just pulled the string. Worm burner into the outfield for a knock. Melee around third. Throw is offline and he scores and they lead by two. Picks himself up an RBI. Just kept it simple. Played pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there was just no one there to knock it down. Auheno Suarez up to the plate now. Good power. Not great in the OBP department. Swing and a miss as he was late that time. One strike. Palano on the go in the dirt. safe at second and that was not close. When your catcher is not a great thrower, you have to do a better job at controlling the running game and that’s throwing over. That’s stepping off, doing whatever you can to try to keep that base Steelers rhythm off. Well, they weren’t able to do it right there. They’re going to have to make some type of adjustment. Our players are going to be running all game up and in at a count one and two. That’s a really good job of laying off the O2 high fast ball is going to make that pitcher really have to respect this hitter even though he’s behind in the count. fouls it off. Still one and two. [Music] This one in the dirt to third. Tag got him. They don’t come much closer than that. Bang bang play to end the inning. But two runs for him and they jump ahead. We’ll head to inning number two at T-Mobile Park. It’s the Mariners two and the Angels nothing. New inning getting started. So now the Angel cleanup hitter Taylor Ward. [Music] Basketball for a strike. swing and a ball drilled in the air towards right center field. Makes the grab. One up, one down. Chris Taylor. Now, there’s a strike. Looks like a really good fast ball today. You can hear that catcher mitt popping. Looking forward to hearing a lot of that one in this one. Here’s the O2. Good eye right there. really good take especially with two strikes and a pop off right side foul territory he’s got it and there’s two away Luis Ranifo getting ready to hit set a new career best for stolen bases in a season Miss that pitch in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Two out. Space is empty in the air. Left field. The Rosarena moving under it. Makes the grab and that is that. We head to the bottom of the second and now for Seattle AU Suarez. He’s not going to get cheated up there. No, he’s not. He’s looking to do damage with every swing he takes. And that drops in for a strike. There it was. Oh, here it is. Hit it. He gets a take. Gets ahead in the count. That one inside and the count even. One and one. Rusty Valentine calling balls and strikes. Boo. Something I hear from hitters about Valentine is they know they don’t have to protect off the plate too much in two strike counts. And that can be a big deal in terms of your confidence and seeing some pitches in that at bat. That misses the zone. Two and one. Tap foul at the plate. That’s off the inside corner and it’s three and two. Goes down swinging for the strike out. He swung over top of the curveball. I mean, there aren’t many curve balls in the sport today that break like that thing does. Huge movement. It’s so difficult to get on the same plane and even think about squaring it up, let alone get a piece and hope he throws something else to keep the at bat alive. Luke in the box with one away as he takes ball one. And that’s pushed foul off to the left and out of play. And that is downstairs. Now two balls in a strike. Ripped to short. Snagged on a bounce. Whips it across. Barely got him for the out. Close play. Two down. Base is empty. And stepping in for the Mariners, Leo Reebas and first offering is fouled off. Hendrick steals and that is cut on and missed and the count is 0 and two. The strong second inning is a confidence builder for him. a relief for his manager. Doesn’t have to get into that bullpen quite as early. And a swing and a miss. And the Mariners set down one, two, three. Mariners go down quietly there, but they hold a two nothing lead. Top half of the third inning. Here comes Travis Darno. Darno. Darno in his 12th season, hitting seventh in today’s lineup. He joined the team as a free agent. Miller back to work. That pitch clips the outside corner. Strike one. That’s excellent location on the fast ball right there early in this game. If he can do that all game, should be a good outing for him. One ball, one strike. The 1-1 is fouled off. Swings through. That’s a strike out. He’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strike out. Here’s Logan Davidson. He swings and fouls one off. [Music] One down. Base is empty. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. And that one fouled off. That missed by a lot. Two balls, two strikes. [Music] and he grounds one to the right side, fires over to first. First two batters retired here in the top of the third. The centeriel Bryce. And here’s the rookie center fielder. We talk about guys with good speed and definitely he has it. But pushing the offensive side for just a second, Chris, it’s the defensive side that I think the speed factors in the most fought off foul. Well, he gets to balls that get by most people at that position. Just really impressive because there’s certain times a ball comes off the bat automatically that team that hit it thinks that they’ve got a no trouble here. puts it away for the out. And that is that. Nine straight retired here to start the game. It’s the Mariners two and the Angels nothing. Back at T-Mobile Park as we go to the last of the third. And now for Seattle, JP Crawford. And what makes him even quicker is the fact that he’s so dialed in on the pitch as it’s moving through the hitting zone. He can see how that hitter’s lined up, what he’s trying to do, and where that pitch is going to end up, which gives him that really quick first step. And that’s why he makes so many great plays. Leadoff man retired here in the third. Randy Rosena. Now it’s Randy Rosarena 0 for one. He grounded out in his first at bat. That one fouled off. His eyes got big. He saw that change up way out in front. Better to pull it than to get jammed on something off speed like that. It’s in and out of his glove. Still able to fire over and they get the out. Good recovery. Wasn’t easy following the misplay. Two outs. Space is empty. And now it’s going to be Cal Raleigh. He reached out a walk his first time. He is at the top of the game in terms of defense at the catching spot. Right through there for a strike. It’s so impressive because these guys have to do so much study and preparation for their pitchers, for opposing hitters, and really their number one job is to guide that staff through a ball game. And so when you also can turn it up offensively and be a force there, that is a win-win. Every manager’s dream and as well lots of pop in that bat. So you combine the slug with really good defense. And delivers. Strike three. Got him. Looking on the change up. Mariners are down in order. They’re up two nothing. [Music] And welcome back to the ballpark. And now the right fielder, Mike Trout. There’s something pretty special about a player hitting 400 career home runs. He’s one shy of that mark right here. So this could be an historic at bat. Hit hard on the ground to short. Crawford throws to first in time. Lead off hitter retired in the fourth. Oh, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. Zack Neto the next to hit for the Angels. Struck out looking his first time. No, that’s low. Here’s something cool, Boo. when they finished building T-Mobile Park back in 1999. They actually opened it up in the middle of the season. I remember as a rookie with the Chicago White Socks, we opened the season at the Kingdom and then when we came back later in the year, we were playing at T-Mobile Park. It’s a beautiful place. Great scenery from center field and I always enjoyed playing here. Two quick outs here in the top of the fourth. Up next, the third base. Two down, base is empty. Yoan Monata digs in now. Struck out swinging his first time. Pitch misses outside. Ball one. You want to be patient here. Try to work a walk if you can. You’ve got a big power bat behind you in the on deck circle and with two outs, one swing can put you right back in this ball game. on the ground. Rebas tosses to first and he has thrown four shutout innings. Angels go down one, two, three. They trail it here. Two nothing. And we’re back. Bottom four. And now Julio Rodriguez. Julio Rodriguez. The Mariners knew what they had. Signed him in July of 2017 for a little under $2 million when Rodriguez was just 16 years old out of the Dominican Republic. Ground ball to the right side. Tosses to the pitcher covering the bag. Close play against the speedy runner. [Music] Here’s Josh Naylor. Doubled his first time off. He’s got a nice short compact swing. Doesn’t swing and miss a whole lot. Slashes this one and it could be trouble around first and hustling for second in safely. It’s a double and his second hit. Everything came together for him as soon as that one shot off his barrel. He was thinking extra bases. really nice job of getting the bat out front but not hooking around it or rolling over. Just kept the swing on plane and smoked that thing into the gap. One out, runner at second. And next is the designated hitter Jorge Palano. RBI single his last time up. Swing and a liner foul off to the right. The next offering misses at one and one. And that’s a base hit. Stop sign goes up at third. Runners at the corners with one out. So important to get into the fielding position as you deliver that baseball. That is a scary one. Watch your lips. Runners at the corners here. One away. Heyo Suarez up to hit now. He struck out swinging at his first at bat. Pitch kicks away from Darno. No movement on the base. It’s ball one. and a foul ball. Mariners. Next pitch misses. Two balls in a strike. Good spot for the hitter. Definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on. Look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch. Naylor on third. Palano over at first with one away. Fouled off down the right side. Just misses with that one. Three balls. Two strike. Two on, one out. Foul ball and it remains a full count and that’ll load the bases. He’s making things difficult for himself right now out there on the mound, but you know, his confidence should still be high enough to get out of this, but he’s going to have to buckle down right here. So, they’re all loaded up now. It’s the right fielder, Luke. Golden opportunity right here. Sliced hard, but fouled down the left side. He’s looking for a ground ball to get a double play and out of this jam. Ground ball left side and it’s just fouled. That was close. And that’s ruled a swing. It’s a strike out. Leo Reebas the next to hit. and that’s in there at the knees for a strike. Well, he’s been incredibly efficient in this one. First pitch strike percentage over 70%. That’s well above league average and that’s what’s allowed him to pitch well up until this point. Swing and a miss. Oh, and two out. Well, I know they’ve gotten out to an early lead, but you don’t want to take these opportunities for granted with two outs. Still lock in with a quality at bat. Drive in that run. You may not have another runner in scoring position to list of this ball game. The change up missing and it’s one and two. [Applause] [Music] skips in and excellent work to corral that one. Could have been dangerous. Two outs. Spoils a two strike pitch and he’ll see another. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Goes down looking. Sometimes he wears the emotion on the sleeve, but that’s okay as long as he’s getting results. And right there, thrilled with the punch out to get out of a jam. Back in Seattle, we go to the top of the fifth and now it’s the Angels cleanup batter Taylor Ward. Rolled softly, but that goes foul. You know, these Angels, they’re not going to be happy with the at bats they’ve been having so far. We’re in the back half of the game and they’re still searching for a base runner. He’s been great out there on the mound, no doubt. But it’s also been a disappointing performance at the plate to this point. Swings and misses. One and two. And as we get deeper, it’s not going to get any easier. These at bats are going to feel more and more desperate with every eye the rest of the bats and misses. It’s a strike out. Usually when you see several pitches, you’re going to get at least one that you might be able to do something with, but they didn’t exactly challenge him in any way right there. And really, they just used his aggressiveness against him. I don’t think he even got a pitch in the zone. No, that’s a good point, Sigy. He goes down on strikes, but not a single pitch was actually in the strike zone. Taylor batting with one down, takes the strike. Base is empty, one away, and we’re in the top of the fifth. Not close with that one. And now it’s even one and one. Ground ball right side. Rebas throws to first in time. And the first two set down in the top of the fifth. Luis Reanifo the next to hit for the Angels. Fly to left his first time. Fast is outside. Next offering is downstairs. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound. In this situation, ahead 200, he’s put himself in a really good spot. That clips the corner. Now this offense has just been locked down. Almost five full innings of shut out baseball. Swings and miss and struck him out. Angels held in check. They’re still down. It’s two zip. We head to the bottom of the fifth. Here’s the shortstop at the plate. JP Crawford. Ripped to short, gets it to first and the lead offense set down in their half of the fifth. Now batting the left fielder Randy. And up next for Seattle, Randy Rosena has grounded out a couple of times. That’s in there. Strike one. That’s inside. Next pitch misses inside and the count now even up and they’ll do it again. Oh, there’s a pitch we haven’t seen in a while. It’s going to be tough on the hitters if he can mix that in whenever he wants. Rip towards third. They get the out on a Rosarena. Now batting the catcher. Two outs. Base is empty. Cal Raleigh up next for the Mariners. He has, as they like to say, let me guess, boo. Light tower power. That’s right. That one’s in there. 0 and one. Two down, nobody on. Last half of inning number five. In there at the knees for a strike. quickly into an 02 count. Both pitches were down in the zone. I think you set your sights a little bit higher because you’ll have a tendency to chase if you look down in that area. And now it’s one and two. Good job to fight that one off. Two down on knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. clearly trying to stay back a little bit longer for that change up as he fouls that fast ball back. Two outs. Cut on and missed. And it’s a strikeout. And that is the inning. Nobody left for Seattle, but they’re on top two nothing. Back at T-Mobile Park. All set for the top of the six. And now it’s Travis Darno at the plate. Miller back to work. And that one just misses. A ball and no strikes. Just missed. Well, he looks more focused at the plate and working the count after that first at bat strikeout. Pop dump Naylor and there’s one away. [Applause] Logan Davidson the next to hit for the Angels. grounded out his first time. Foul ball there. Davidson, 27 years old. They got him off of waiverss earlier this season. Hit on a line and that’s a base hit and that ends the perfect game bid. So, a man aboard now with one away. The dream of a perfect game turns out to be just that thanks to this hit. Fast ball pretty much middle middle and that’s what you fall asleep dreaming about as a hitter. So no surprise he put a great swing on it and now they’ve got some speed on first. So we’ll see if they try to get him into motion and now the center fielder 0 for one so far. First pitch misses with the tying run at the plate and we’re the top half of the six. Miller over to first. the other way. The tag gets in and it’s a double play to end the inning. Another frame in the books as the perfect game falls by the wayside. It’s the Mariners two and the Angels nothing. So, the Angels turn to their bullpen for a new pitcher, Chase Silent. And we all know about his slider. It’s just filthy, man. And one of the better ones in the game, I’d say. Spin rates very high and it just breaks a tongue. Rodriguez in the box again, takes the strike. Movement in the bullpen. Robert Stevenson up and loosening in the pen. Number 28, a left-hander also throwing. Popped foul out of play off to the right. Lace down the line. This looks like extra bases. Makes the turn and heads for second. and he greets the new arm from the bullpen with a double. Good two- strike hitting right there, Boog. A bit of a lost start for some. So, that was nicely done to beat the odds. He got a pitch he could get to out front, kept his bat through the ball and didn’t pull off or roll his hands over. And that allowed him to rip that ball down the line for the double. And the batter now, Josh Naylor, a former first round pick, and he’s really turned into a nice everyday player. And a fast ball misses outside for a ball. one and 0. Swing and a ball popped up. Ranifo and there’s one down the designated hitter. [Music] Next is the DH, a switch hitter, Jorge Palano. Swing and a ground ball and that one gets through into center field. runner from second scores as they add on. It’s an RBI single. It’s three zip. Well, clearly he was ready to hit right there. Once you get the ball by the pitcher, there’s a lot of base hits up the middle, even on ground balls. So, a nice job to use that big hole and get himself a hit. Man at first with one gone and stepping in for the Mariners. Au Heno Suarez and takes low for ball one. Palano leads off first with one away. So a foul ball makes it one and two. And that one is inside. Fouls it back with two strikes. Two-2 now. Just misses the mark outside the zone. and a swing and a miss. Beat him with a fast ball. Came inside with that two strike fast ball nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of the plate. Couldn’t get around on it and catch it out front. Many times if you do, it’s a foul ball. And you know, a lot of pitchers, they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter. And when they’ve got him up against the ropes, got to figure out a way to put him away. Did a nice job right there. Stands in now and watches strike one. And the slider just misses. That’s a really good take right there. Slider down and in. very difficult to get on the same plane and do anything with and a swing and a miss. And that’s that. But the RBI single pushes across a run. It’s now three nothing. Back after this on the show. All set for the start of the inning. And now the right fielder, Mike Trout. He is quite an athlete. I mean, you look around the other sports, basketball, football, you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports, too. Right through there for a strike. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Edward Bazardo appears to be getting ready, and I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. Hancock also getting ready. Swings and misses. No balls, two strikes. It really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today. Good fast ball, excellent slider, but they’ve not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there. Oh, there’s a three pitch strike out. He can do whatever he wants with the baseball right now. And next for the Angels, Zack Neto for two in this one. And that’s in there for strike one. Well, I think the key, I mean, if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus. But they Oh, now this one’s high and deep. Way back there on its way. Gone. [Music] his 27th home run of the season. It’s 3-1. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. That’s exactly the pitch he was looking for. Crushes it and hits it out of the ballpark. Here is Yoan Monata. First pitch just misses. One down. Base is empty. Just missed. Miller maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run, Chris. Yeah, it seems that way. You know, guys, they can come out, feel good, but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch. They’re not trusting their stuff. Check swing and he went. It’s two and two. Well, he’s been good for the most part. Is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit? Well, partner, every pitcher is a little different. I I liken it to you. Sometimes you come in and you’re not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show. Uh, so perhaps it’s the same with him. Nobody really wants their rhythm broken up, but sometimes they need a little pickme up. That’s a huge defensive play in the late stages of the game. It might not be the most challenging we’ve seen today, but it needed to be made. That’s helping your team. And it’s fouled away. Two down, base is empty, but one run across here in the top half of inning number seven. That was the sweeper, but it missed. That one missing inside. That one fouled off. Two and two. ripped to third but handled and that’ll end the inning. But not before they answer back with a solo home run. It’s now a 3-1 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Set for the last half of the seventh. And now it’s the switch hitting second baseman Leo Rivas. That one blasted deep to right. Trout ranges back to the warning track. Makes the catch. Well, that one ended up a lot closer to home run than I thought off the bat. Clearly didn’t get it all, but with that wind blowing out to ride, almost pushed that one over the wall. And now for Seattle, JP Crawford. He’s grounded out a couple of times. There’s the strike up high. One in there for a strike at the bottom of the zone. No ball. And that one moves his feet. [Music] Swang in a ball line to center. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out and there’s two down. Two down. Base is empty. Here’s the Mariners leadoff man, Randy A. Rosarena. Three ground outs already. He’s 0 for three. And the first pitch misses for ball one. One and0. And another ball. Two down, nobody on here. The bottom of the seventh. The next pitch misses. Three and 0. Well, I would expect in this three 0 count. You’re taking all the way. See if they’ll walk you. And there’s the automatic. Hard hit right side. That ends the frame. Three up, three down for him there. Eighth inning coming up. It’s the Mariners three and the Angels won. They hand the ball over to a new arm, Edward Bazardo. These are the spots relievers really make a name for themselves. Late and close. There’s not much margin for error, but at the same time, there’s a reason they’re put in these situations. Here comes Chris Taylor. And that drops in for a strike. Pitching has been pretty dominant in this one, but you got to be careful. Not working with too big a lead. They could get right back in this ball game if you’re not careful. And skips in the dirt. Some activity in the Mariners bullpen. Luke Jackson, the closer of the staff, is throwing. The 1-1 is fouled off on the ground right side. Sends it to first. Taylor out on the play. Those plays can be tricky. They’re routine, but that doesn’t mean it’s always going to be smooth. He delivered a good play right there. Luis Rangifo now at the plate. That’s off the mark and it’s one and0. No strike. That’s a slider for a strike. Pretty good pitch. Backed up a little bit, expecting it to go middle away and it just sort of stayed on the inside corner. Probably good take cuz he would have gotten jammed had he swung the bat. Swing and a highfly ball right field. Pulls it down and there’s two gone. Now batt. Two outs. Base is empty. And here’s the catcher Travis Darnardo. off the plate and that’s ball one. Check swing called strike. All sliders so far in this at bat to get ahead in the count and clearly shows there was a game plan in mind for how to attack him in the box. Looking very settled on the mound here in the eighth. One more out. They’ll probably hand it off to their closer for the ninth with at least a two-run lead. Swing in a minute. Straight him out. Angels go quietly there and it remains a 3-1 ball game. back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth, Robert Stevenson. He’s been so good against lefties. And now the catcher comes up to hit Cal Raleigh. A walk and a pair of strikeouts. Just missed. Next pitch is downstairs. just missed. So definitely a little wild right out of the gate. Well, it could be a little tough coming from the bullpin mound to this mound, but you’ve got to find a way to get ahead in the count quickly. He has it. We’ll see how this attack turns out. And there’s a hit. And the leadoff man aboard Julio Rodriguez up next for the Mariners. One for three. Runner on the move and it finds its way through for a hit and out to a board. Now batter first base now Josh Naylor [Music] and he hits a ground ball right side and foul ball. Raleigh the lead runner out at second. Rodriguez out at first with nobody out. That one finds the zone. That is strike two. Action in the Angels bullpen. Andrew Chaffen, the left-handed reliever, appears to be getting loose. This one lifted in the air. Left field. calls it in for the owl. Number seven, designated hitter Jorge. So now here’s the DH. Jorge Palano three for three with three singles. That’s a B in the dirt but kept close. Runners at first and second with one gone near the bottom half of the eighth inning. That one ripped right center field out of here. A three-run homer and they throw three on the board. It’s 61. already playing with the lead and now they’re celebrating a home run. They’re having a great time out there. [Applause] [Music] A breaking ball on the inside part of the play requires a hitter to stay really square with his mechanics. If you fly open with the front shoulder, there’s no way you keep that ball fair. An outstanding job mechanically. He deserves that home run. Now the Angels manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. Robert Stevenson gives way. We’ll be back in a minute with a new arm on the mound. New pitcher in the game for the Angels, number 28. Well, they need someone to stop the bleeding and keep the score right where it is. Seems like a tough task today with the way this lineup is swinging it. Now the third baseman, Au Heno Suarez. Fast for a strike. One down, base is empty. Try to get him to chase on the change up that time. Not even close there. And it’s two and one. Still only one out here in the inning. Next offering is fouled back. [Music] And now two and two. Stays alive. Now it’s three and two. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Pulled the string on the change up. This guy will throw any pitch in any count. 3-2. He goes off speed. Gets the out. Two down. Base is empty. And up next for Seattle, Luke 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out. And that’s off the inside edge. And that is ball one. A bit behind with that swing. It’s strike one. Swing and a miss as he was late. One and two. out to short. Throws across the diamond. That’s the inning. Three-run shot for Seattle. Last chance coming up here for the Angels. And we’re back. And now the first baseman, Logan Davidson. Bazardo back to work. Bazardo, the 6-foot righty, 29 years old, and he was born in Venezuela. Action in the bullpen for Seattle. Brian Woo, the young right-hander up and throwing. Brash, a hardthrowing right-hander up as well. Cut on and missed 96 of that fast. And that’s in the dirt. Swing and a miss. Came out and a strike out for the first out here in the ninth. That’s about as nasty of a splitter as you’ll come across, especially in terms of movement. I mean, that thing tumbles out of his hand and just drops off the table at the last moment. If he keeps it down, it’s just so tough to put wood on. Here’s the center fielder. Just missed. That’s the ball. One ball. No strike. The M’s leading by five here in the top of the ninth and a strike on the outside edge. And this guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today. Next offering is down low. Next offering misses down and away. Three balls. Two strike. And that’s inside and a good at bat ball four. Oh, a breaking ball in that 3-2 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now. Just couldn’t find the strike zone. So, a man aboard. Here’s Mike Trout 0 for three with two ground outs and a strikeout. Big swing and a miss. This is one of those situations defensively where you can’t try to do too much. You got to make sure that you feel the ball cleanly and get one out first. It’s going to be tough to get two with this kind of speed in the batters box. [Music] Oh, one swing and a ball popped up. This one a mile high. Crawford puts it away to the out. Angels down to their final out. So in for the Angels, Zack Neto, he’s already homerred here in this one. The shorts stop takes a ball. There’s a strike. So a foul ball makes it one and two. This could end it. outside low. Two and two. Rolled slowly to first and it goes just foul. swing and it is struck him out and that is the ball game. The ball for his first career save deserves to be on display at his house. I mean, it’s kind of like when a restaurant frames its first dollar bill somewhere in a wall. You just can’t forget your first save. 6-1 is your final here today. For Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show, I’m John Shami. Thanks for joining us. [Music] [Music]
