The best teams have great coaching quarterback combinations. And this combination of Kevin Oonnell knowing JJ’s McCarthy strengths and weaknesses. Shady and I were sitting here watching. Kevin Oonnell ain’t called a zone read all day. That was nice. He ain’t called a zone read all day. You’re up by three. About five minutes left in the game. Game is on the line. Whole game is in the balance. And right then you realize, wait a second, my quarterback got legs. My quarterback can run. I’mma run a quick zone read. The Bears defense has no idea it’s coming. And JJ McCarthy takes it to the house after that Kevin Okonnell calls uh JJ throws that interception. Okonnell says, “You know what? Let me dial it back. Quick game. Let me get my quarterback some confidence.” Quick game. Then you come out there and you call a phenomenal uh pass to Aaron Jones on linebacker one-on-one. Easy for JJ McCarthy to read. Like the combo between Okonnell and JJ McCarthy should have Vikings fans incredibly excited. Yeah.
