San Francisco Giants vs Los Angeles Dodgers Series Recap

Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Well, welcome. It’s Hot Corner, I think. Or is it uh is this the 4 minute over 50 show or the four? I don’t know. Anyway, welcome to Hot Corner Sunday night 8:30. We’re dwindling down to a few weeks left. Hopefully we can extend it with uh some better baseball than we got the last two days. Uh tough one, guys. Tough one to to swallow. And uh last night when the Dodgers scored 13, I think what was it? 13-7. I said to Dallas, we were making predictions for today’s game. I said, “You know what concerns me? When the Dodgers bats get rolling, they tend to not stop. And they didn’t stop today. And they simply beat up on Logan Webb and Robbie Ray and then the bullpin. Uh but they’re still in it. They are still in it. We got how many games left? 14 13 14 13 14 13 games and two back rough basically I forget the right now what is it is it two and a half or one and a half perfectly but but it’s two and a half yeah one okay so two and a half and um I didn’t look at the the A’s did they end up beating the Reds A’s beat the Reds they swept them good job sack a so it’s Giants one one team ahead of them, the Mets. So, what do you guys think? I mean, uh it was a rough series. Every series so far, they’ve played four or three. Three series. Giants win the first game, Dodgers win the next two. So, what I don’t like right now, and I don’t know how you guys feel, they’re going to go on the most important 7-day road trip the entire season. And the Diamondbacks are just a game back of them, and the Dodgers are still playing for something to hang on and win the division. So, I don’t like the fact that LA’s bats are waking up and we’re just going to see him here in about four more days again. Yep. So, what do you guys think? Go for it, Glenn. Oh, dude. You want me to You want me to I’m back up north and you think coming up north it would be cool. We had some warm weather in the Bay Area. I would take it. It’s 100°. I got no air conditioning. I’m dying up here. I’ve gone through I’m going Thank God for the Wendy’s today. But where you at? Where you at, Glenn? Winnipeg today, baby. Oh, you’re back up. Okay. Yeah, I’ll be up here for a few weeks. Get my paperwork redone and I will be back. Hopefully for the playoffs, but I’m telling you. Yeah, I like to hear that, Glenn. Okay, that’s just a preamble of what’s to come now. Okay, get that out of your system, Eric. So, I’m listening to KNBR on Friday. Is that a microphone or it? It That’s a microphone. Yeah. Okay. So, I’m listen. Can I Can I go ahead? It’s just It’s It’s distracting. It’s my ADD is kicking in with that light. Well, if I turn off the What you got? So, anyway, so listen to KMBBR on Friday and I am I’m talking to my better half while I’m listening. I’m mumbling. She’s like, “What are you going on about now?” I go, “Listen, listen to every caller. It’s like the Dodgers or the Colorado Rockies or the White Socks. They got they got, you know, no hitting and all the pitching st I’m like, what do they are fans of the Bay Area delusional?” And then think about this. Has anybody stopped to just think, “My god, we almost got swept. We almost got swept. We lost uh abysmally yesterday. Today was terrible. I said to Eric the other night, I said key to key to this run is striking out a lot less. You can’t be striking out 12 and 14 and 15 times. I said, “How about five strikeouts?” Which they cut it down to today, 5ks. But I assumed that if I they can cut it down to 5ks, we’ll get more than five hits. That’s crap. It’s terrible. in in I know it’s the Dodgers too, but I mean this is the season. I mean we terrible performance by the two pitchers you expect will lead us. Uh and it was more than that. The pitching horrible. Can they catch a popup? Can Ramos like field something cleanly? Uh Gilbert got to go back down to the college level where he hit that big slam. But can he touch the bases? Can he c can you touch first base? Would that is that too much to ask uh a bach going back to the pitching a B? This game had everything for the Dodgers today. Nothing for the San Francisco Giants. At one point today, I thought if you add up all the runs they scored in this series, they were going to get more points than the Valkyries scored in the playoff game today. It was it was brutal. I I don’t know what you thought. Maybe uh Lou, I’m I’m just I’m ticked because this was a big series. It was very very lucky that we won one. When you look back at Friday night, I was there. The emotions were high. Everybody was everybody was excited. But, you know, that was that was going down to the wire. I mean, McCrae, oh, I don’t want to go back and talk all about Friday, but McCrae, did he maybe you guys over at NorCal know. Did Bob send him on that play? Do you send a guy when you know he’s going to be out by I’m sure Matt William I’m sure it was talked about. I’m I’m sure if they didn’t want him to go, Matt Williams could have got closer. Bob Melvin was talking about it afterwards. They said they sent him because they had to make a throw. Now, I thought it was a little bit I get it. You want to make the throw, the defense has got to make the play, but my god, it was only you barely got out to the outfield. Amateur hour, Eric. Amateur hour. You knew I I summed it up like this with Eric the other night. And I said, “It’s like Bob Melvin in the ninth inning saying, “We’re going to call for the replay when everybody in the stadium and and making the call in New York knows the play, the out has been recorded. It there no need to replay it. There’s no need to send them.” That was horrible. But today’s game, blunders, no pitching, no hitting. Are we back to uh as you said, Dan, the most pivotal part of the year, the biggest road trip, their only road trip left. We got a win. And this looks like uh the Giants of uh two weeks ago. Luke, you want you want me to go? Go for it, Lou. I think Giants fans positivity. Add some positivity. I heard Giants fans today and I heard other talk shows after the Giants lost. They’re living a reality. I mean, you guys have no no blooping clue. Our two aces got hammered. Okay, we just gave up 23 runs, 35 hits with our two best hitters. I mean, our two best pitchers. We are so bad right now that we have to be determined on Tuesday, the biggest road trip. We don’t know who’s pitching tomorrow. We got uh what’s his name? Who’s cracker jocks? You’re not sure with Tang what you’re going to get. And then Verlander on Wednesday, who’s probably our best pitcher to tell you the truth, the last month. But it’s on the road. I’m getting sick and tired of these idiots saying, “Oh, the last six games, last six games.” You know, we’ve lost three out of four. Okay, we should have been swept. We got very lucky. And it’s funny, I told Eric, cuz Eric was driving out to the game on Saturday. I go, Eric, what a great win, but I hope they don’t do what they did last time. Bailey got the inside the park homer, lay a bleeping egg. And they did. They lost 13 to1 the following day. And beside that, Bailey didn’t even play the next day and Glenn got his ass chewed up by a little girl that came to see Bailey. That’s true. You remember? That’s true. Of course. The other thing I’m getting a little pissed at is every single week we say the same crap. Melvin kept him in too long. I don’t know what it is. Everybody in America sees our starters are going too long. And I’m getting sick and tired of the announcers saying, “Oh my god, we’re at 83 pitches in the fourth inning.” Okay, our two eight’s didn’t even get an out in the fifth inning. We did four plus. Okay, one gave up 10 hits and six runs. Webb, Robert, I see you’re on the chat. Where are you with that bum Webb? We Webb didn’t have it. I think Webb is actually, you know, he’s striving so hard right now to do 200 innings. He got his 200 strikeouts. You could tell he doesn’t have it. Okay, his next start, if he doesn’t step up, it’s sort of like a wasted effort. Okay, let’s go to our other guy. Um, today he he pitched five, went to the fifth inning, gave up six, five runs. He was lucky he didn’t give up more. This was a total domination. Okay. And if you guys think we’re gonna go into Arizona and take two out of three where we we don’t know who the pitcher is Tuesday night and we got Bozo going tomorrow and Verlander hoping on Wednesday, you guys got another thing coming. You know, Giants right now, if you look, Bailey got the big hit. Okay, who else did anything this weekend? You got to remember Webb led four to one and gave it up. Okay, I have no And the other thing is whatever this great bullpen, we know we don’t have a closer. Our bullpen every game has been getting rocked. Now we’re going to Arizona where the ball flies out. It’s going to be worse than it is here. Do not be surprised if the Giants go two and five and they have that hope like other people are saying on chats, oh well, we have the last six games at home. Give me a break. Take care of the games now. You know, the Mets had a 10-ame road trip. Okay, 10 games. They went two and eight. Okay, if the Giants would have won the last three of the last four or even been 500, we’d be right there. But, you know, we’re so worried about other teams. Worry about ourselves. Are you guys aware that if Arizona wins tomorrow, they’re ahead of us? Okay, they’re ahead of us. So, not only do we have to worry about the Mets, we’ve had everything in our lap and we’ve done nothing with it with these last two games. We got outsc scored, we got out coach, we got out hustled. I’ll just leave it at that. Next, do you know real quick before Eric goes, the Diamondbacks are two behind the Mets and own the tiebreaker. So, they are thinking they’re in this thing big time. the Giant, they’re in the same position really as the Giants because if the if they tie with the Mets, I think uh I think it’s maybe maybe I got that wrong. I think it’s Cincinnati that has the tiebreaker. I I I apologize. I think Arizona and the Mets uh actually split their um season series at three. And then you go to the division and right now the Diamondbacks are within the division um are 23 and 20. Wow. 23 and 20 and the Mets are 20 and 23 and 23. Isn’t that funny? Nobody’s even talking about Arizona the last couple of weeks and they can sneak right in. Diamondbacks are going nowhere. They got to face the Giants. Who do they face after the Giants? The Phillies for three. Who did they face after the Phillies? LA for three. Who did they face? Philly would already Philly is going to clinch the division. And you still got to play. You still with baseball. You still got to play your guys. I understand. But you’re going to cl You’re going to clinch your division. You got to start worrying about the postseason, right? No, I’m just saying I’m just going to address the the the Diamondbacks. They got And then the last three, they got to face San Diego. So, this is not going to be easy for the Diamondbacks. Look, I’m I’m starting backwards and work my way forward. Who are we afraid of? Who are we afraid of? The big bad. Right. There you go. Are what are the Mets doing the big bad wolf? The Mets have fallen on their fate. They’re They had to go to extra innings. They almost lost again. What’s the Reds doing? They got swept by the A’s. The Diamondbacks got a tough schedule. Look, it’s it’s this is up for grabs, guys. It Whoever plays the best ball going from here on out is going to get that third wild card. It is there is there is no guarantee who gets that third wild card. You can’t sit there and say it’s going to be the Mets because they’ve been playing like dog [ __ ] and they got some tough series coming ahead as well. You got the Cubs coming up. They got San Diego that they got to play. It’s not going to be easy. The Reds, they just got swept by the Athletics and I think they got a couple of tough series as well. I know they got to play St. Louis. But I’m not worried about it. I’m not. Let’s just play the games. As Lou said, you got to worry about your own games. You have to. And unfortunately over these last two games, we were there yesterday for the Logan Web start and I don’t know what happened, but uh when me and Ibraham were watching it, I told him I was like, “What is up with?” And this was like about the fourth inning. I was like, “What is up with Web con consistently throwing sweepers and sliders. You didn’t see anything on the board. You know, when you look at the board to see what they’re throwing, you saw a few cutters. You never saw a sinker.” And I guess it was a game plan that they had going in where he’s afraid of the dod to throw that sinker to the Dodgers because the Dodgers have have whooped on that sinker. But no, but you still got to throw you still got to keep him honest because he wasn’t locating. It was a it was a game plan that didn’t go exactly to to the way it should have gone. And the hey, credit the Dodgers. They went out there and they clobbered it. And let’s let’s talk about this. Are the Dodgers hot right now? Sure. But the the Giants pitching has been absolutely atrocious. whether it’s the bullpin or whether it’s the starting pitching uh for the last two games. And look, if the Giants are going to go anywhere, Webp and Ray are going to have to do something. And and and Lou, you talked about this. Justin Verlander of all guys, the one that we were most concerned about in the off season, he’s arguably the best pitcher on the staff right now. The guy’s going out there and he’s dealing. Yeah. Now, there is there is a thing with Worland Verlander. Not only does he seem physically ready to go, the guy has done this before. So, he understands what it’s going to take to get into that postseason. So, what’s going to happen? We don’t know. But, I’ll tell you what, if the Giants aren’t pitching that the way that they should be pitching, it’s it’s they ain’t going to get it done. They’re not. Let me ask you this, Eric. You were there last night. If before you got into your seat and you said and I told you that the Giants are going to get four runs in the first off of Kershaw of all Oh yeah. Yeah. And they’re going to be four to one. Would you say I think we got this game? Yep. 100%. 100%. Yeah. I I tell you, it’s funny because we’re going into the game and the lineup as we were driving came out and I was like, “Oh my god, that outfield is going to be horrendous.” But I understood because they wanted to get as many righties against Kershaw because they didn’t want any lefties to face Kershaw because it’s Kane Kershaw. The guy is 14 and well was 14 and six coming in last night. Had a 1.6 erra. The guy owns the Giants in Oracle Park. So you wanted to put the best lineup. They kind of sacrificed defense to get the the thump in there. Well, Kershaw didn’t have [ __ ] He had nothing. They were warming up the bullpin in the first inning. I mean, it was that bad for Kershaw. And then and then you got a Logan Web start and then right as we’re walking into the park right after we finished having our dinner, there goes, you know, the Mets lose to the freaking Rangers. Everybody was feeling it, dude. Every the the electricity in the park was just on a different level because we understood what was coming and then they scored that four spot and we’re just like, “Oh, all is right in in in Giantsdom.” But yeah, to your point, Dan, Kershaw giving up four. The Giants, they really And here’s another thing. They scored seven runs yesterday and they still lost. I mean, look, you don’t do that. You can’t score seven runs and lose. You would think that Web would be able to hold them to at least three runs and get and get through six innings. And then you would think, okay, we got four runs in the first. We should be able to scrap across another two runs over the course of eight innings and you should be able to win that game even with your bullpen at least 64 65. So I squarely put this loss on on web and and he’s pretty much admitted that he didn’t have it. It was a bad outing. But look, this is what you pay this guy for to come through. Same thing with Bobby Ray. I mean, and Rey, I think Ry is tired. And I’ll tell you why I think he’s tired. He was off on the 23 season, right? He missed the 23 season. Last year, he came back mid late season and then gets hurt. How many innings did he pitch last year? Not many. 40, 50, something around like that. Yeah. So, he hasn’t pitched a full season really since the 20 uh two season. He got hurt in early 23 season, I think. Right. Right. Yeah. So, his innings has been down. And if you look at his last several starts, he’s reaching a the 100 pitch mark before the fifth inning’s over. And all of his pitches, especially his fast ball, are high arm side. He’s not It’s almost like when you’re tired, you stop your follow through. You because you’re tired, you you He’s The ball’s sailing high. and he needs to a little bit more effort with his delivery. Brings him down a little bit more. Finishing. It’s all about the finish. Yeah, he’s not finish. He’s He looks exhausted to me. And you know what? I’m going to say it again. I know this is fun and I know the Giants are giving us some fun here, but his value was peak in July before the trade deadline. And if they fall short this year and they run it back next year, um, you know, it I I I would give advantage to the Mets. And here’s why I would give advantage to the Mets. The Mets have sucked, stunk it up, and they’ve got three guys that we would crave to have in our in that lineup of theirs. Lindor Sodto and Alonzo back to back to back. Their problems pitching, not hitting so much, it’s pitching. But the fact that they have played so terrible, I don’t think the law of averages is going to probably flip and they’re likely to play over their next 13, 12, 13 games closer to 500. That means the Giants in their schedule are going to have to play three or four over 500. So, I still think the Mets have the odds in their favor, but the Giants, as you said, Eric, they just got to win. And if they just win, they can take care of business most likely on their own because the Mets are going to lose four or five at least. Maybe maybe maybe six or seven. Yeah. Yeah. They’re going to they’re not going to go on some 10ame winning streak. That’s what I’m trying to say is this is this is open for for any three of those teams. I mean, it’s it’s gonna it’s going to be freaking nuts in how they’re going to do this. And here’s another thing, Lou, because you were talking about the bullpen and that I think that’s why Bob Melvin stuck with Ray for so long. Who are you going to trust in the bullpen? I mean, you got to stretch out with these guy. You have to. As Robert said, our bullpin’s the best in the major league, so don’t worry about it, Eric. No, it ain’t. And here’s And here’s the thing. We’ve lost four arms, right? Two to injury, two because of trades, and you’re we’re trying to piece it together. And that’s why they’re And look, what what is Bob Melman going to do? He’s looking at his list going uh who am I going to, right? I mean, it’s it’s it’s got to be difficult to make those decisions because you got to ride these guys out as much as possible so you don’t have to worry about going to that damn bullpin because that bullpin right now is uh isn’t uh it’s not lockown. Eric, two things. No days off for a while. Remember that. Not not until next a week from Thursday. Week from Thursday. So, someone’s going to have to step up. The other thing is the Mets went two and eight on their uh road trip. Everyone’s down on them, but they haven’t given up the position yet. It’s almost like when you’re down 25 points in a game and the Warriors come back, they get to two, they get to one, they just can’t get over. I think I I said that last night. Yeah, exactly. Sorry. I think it’s a big thing, you know, plus the tiebreaker. So, it’s one of those things. Yeah, they played horrible, but now the road trip’s over. The road trip from hell. Remember, we go into a road trip where we’re going to Dodger Stadium for Ford and we’re going to Arizona when they’re right with us. And Arizona has the better pitching than us. So, you know, we can talk about all we want. It’s home today. The Mets were actually at home this weekend, I believe, weren’t they? Yeah, they were at home this weekend. That was a that was a threeame home stand, but they they’ve got the Padres’s, I think, next and then they go um let’s see. I’ll look up in the Nationals. They got Padres’s Nationals, then the Cubs, and then they finish it out with Miami. Yeah. Now, here’s the thing. Is the Is the Mets bullpin that much better? No, they’re not. The Mets bullpin is Armont. He’s out there. I mean, even Arddy Armand and Mark, they’ve all but written off the Mets. They’re fans, but they’re they’re like, you know what, the Mets just don’t have it. And and that’s the thing. You got to have the pitching. And the Giants had that. And they had a huge opportunity before them. I mean, this is Look, they’ve Hey, you know the the saying, you know, you make your own bed, you got to sleep in it. And that’s kind of what the Giants are doing right now. And you know what, Eric, you said about winning, you know, you just have to take care of business. We’ve said that, but I agree with I don’t know if it was Dan or Lou a moment ago said that uh we no longer control our fate because I think it was Lou because we’re not holding that playoff spot. We got to win out and we’re now the the hopes and wishes and the dreams start to fall into place. We can’t win out and be guaranteed a a spot because I I think the Mets uh I agree with Dan. The Mets were cold. And the only reason we’re even talking about this race and have a little bit of fun is because we were so good when they were so bad. We got a little bit lucky. You want to hear how bad they were? over 20 games at the All-Star break above 500. They’re barely I think what four games above 500. We were 13 over 500. Where were we a week ago? That’s what I’m saying that they’re both in the same position. Look, the Mets are falling on hard times. And until they could come on and start actually showing something. I’m not trusting any of these teams. Not even the Giants to be honest with you. I mean, you can you can add them. Eric, riddle me this again. We’re having fun with this. It’s it’s it’s enjoyable to, you know, at least watch some somewhat meaningful ball down the stretch. And that certainly is better than some of the ball we’ve seen this year, isn’t it? But aren’t we kidding ourselves? So, let’s say two weeks from time to, hey, we’re in the playoffs. Where the hell are we going? We’re going to be especially we’re gonna have to face the Dodgers. It’s over before it started. It’s not I I don’t know why. I just I think I got to live in a reality world and say this is not a playoff team. I agree. But I think if we’re going to talk about all the teams, you got to go who has the best starting pitching. Who does? Who has the best I think the Reds have the best starting pitching. That’s fair. That’s fair. I I would agree with that. You know, they’re going to have to go against schemes, but they’re going to be at home for the Cubs, which again and they’re going to be home for Pittsburgh and then have to go against Schemes once. And then they’re ending in Milwaukee, but by that time Milwaukey’s making playoffs. You know what I mean? I’m just saying they’re going to get their rotation. Yeah. Milwaukee, if they’ve got the number one seed clinch, they may just um Yeah. And you know, St. Louis isn’t the greatest, but you know, we’re all talking, oh, you know, St. Louis is going to be tough. But then, you know, you know, we have St. You know, we have St. Louis before Colorado. And you know, we’re looking at St. Louis and Colorado like we’re going to go five and one. How do we not know? Maybe St. Louis gets hot, sweeps the Reds, and all of a sudden they’re they’re right with us. You know what I mean? That would be wild if St. Louis took. You know what you’re saying? Hey, in other words, Lou, you’re saying it’s baseball. Anything can happen. Anything can happen. You could go in thinking you’re going to go out there and take care of business. Next thing you know, you’re getting swept. You got to go out there. You got to play the games. And that’s all I’m saying. You got to play 162. You got to play nine innings. You got to get 27 outs. And until those are done, we don’t know what’s going to happen. I And I think tomorrow is the biggest game of the year so far. You know, you can’t let Arizona win. Then you’ve lost three straight, four out of five. And with the pitching matchups now, you’re hoping, you know, it’s just one of those things. It’s the way the way it is. And then I’m, you know, and I hope this doesn’t happen, but say they lose tomorrow, which I think tomorrow is a big game. Uh they have the pitching matchups. say they win the first two or say we we get swept, you know, we’re going to be losing five going into Dodger Stadium for four. You know what I mean? It’s like we can’t have two or three game losing streaks the rest of the time. We can’t because as Dan said, you lose three and that’s three less games on the schedule for you to actually make up three games. You know, people are saying, “Oh, let’s just get to the last home stand.” How about this road trip first? I think we we need to at least at least go four and three. You know, even if we go three and four, if these other teams are 500, we lose a game on everybody around us, including So, I think I think tomorrow’s a must-win. You know, we’ll see with Tang, Mr. AK Cracker Jocks, because you don’t know what the surprise’s going to be, but I think tomorrow is going to be big. And you know, I just hope because remember Dan always says about this team, we went eight and two and 10 and the next 10 we can go three and seven. So really we’re only plus one out of the 20 games because that’s just how the Giants have been all season. You know, they they lose eight and then they come back. Another side note, too, if you go if you go back and look at all the games over the course of the season, for some reason, it doesn’t matter if it’s a guy who pops in off the bench or we went an extended period of time without Matt Chapman, it seems like every time this team suffers any kind of an injury, we go in the hole. And losing Don on Friday, I think has put us back mindset. I was gonna say the same thing about Dom Smith. That is a key. That’s a brutal one. Brutal. How do you pull your ass? I mean, I’ve never heard of that before because you you have someone that actually could uh control the bat and hit the ball. He was also clutch and I think most importantly his defense. Now we have old guys playing defense instead of him that we took for granted. You know, it’s a huge, huge loss. I completely agree, Glenn. Good take. Well, what about Lou? Like I see Dallas is part of the show over on your side of things. He’s like, we can get hot and we we could just get into the playoffs, Mike. I I’d want to go around and that’ll be my take for a while. Let’s sit back and listen. But Dan, Lou, Eric, do you do you legitimize their chances if we get in? Do you think this is a team that’s going anywhere? Because I know you don’t you I I Once you get into the dance, man, you never know what can happen. You just Eric, I’m talking to you as a a guy who knows his baseball, not Eric the Well, the Giants going to win. No, no, no, no. They Eric, it’s going to take some kind of a freaking miracle. Jesus is looking down on them right now if we get into the playoffs. And I don’t think we’re going to very far if we do. You not going anywhere without a pitching staff. can’t go without an in a with one or two if if webb and ray go out there and they freaking stinking up again. Well, you can say for why I’m saying that, Lou. That’s one of the reasons why I’m saying that because this is this I mean each you said tomorrow biggest game of the season, big series, big road trip. This was huge weekend for us. Huge. And the fact we almost got swept and did inevitably and not just lose, look at how many runs we gave up. Look how many we we gave up. I I I don’t think that Well, let’s talk about this. I don’t think Ray and Webb, they got it done. We took two of three against the Milwaukee Brewers. We swept the Cubs. We took care of business. I know, Eric. But again, I’m just trying to Hey, we got swept by Miami. So, who that tells us what we really are consistently inconsistent. You’re gonna I would agree with that. You’re going to have to see what happens. that that that the only the first thing we got to worry about instead of let’s not put the cart in front of the horse is we got to get there. You got to get there and then once you get there then we’ll see what the hell happens. But man the I tell you what these last two games I expected more. I was hoping they would take two out of three way Eric Eric the boys touched on it. You were at the I was there Friday you know how you saw the game dude that was unbelievable. I thought okay I was was living in the moment. It was great. I said, “Eric’s going the next day.” So, I hold down the fort. You come on and I go and I told you if you saw half the game I saw, you were in for a dandy. And dude, they stunk it out. I feel bad. And I tell you what, I there was hope. They went four to one, right? Then it went 4-3. Then it went 94. Then it went 97. I’m like, “Oh my god, it’s a roller coaster.” And then it just the bottom fell out. But I tell you what, you know what was really cool? My mug was on the big screen over there at the at the play baseball game twice. My mug was on that big screen. Really? Not the Mickey Mouse. Your mug. The first The first time was just I think before even the game started then when when Luis Mtos hit that single, I’m up and I’m screaming, “Yeah, yeah.” Right. And I’m looking at the board and I was like, “Man, that guy has the same strider as me.” I was like, “Oh sh I was like, that’s me.” I was like, “Yeah, big old mug on there.” that big J whatever how big that thing is. And uh I was like, “Where the hell was this cameraman?” And I’m like I’m looking around and right across the aisle, literally right across the aisle for me was the cameraman. It was awesome. Oh my. Oh my. It was awesome, dude. That’s great. Yeah. Good thing it wasn’t the kiss cam. You and I. Oh man. And you got And I see the chats all talking about how hot the Dodgers were. They were five and eight in their last 13 before they came in. They ran on pitching. They ranked on bad pitching period. The the Giants pitching was horrible. And then then look went four for four today. The guy was a superstar yesterday. I don’t he finally bought him over 200. Enough said. Cordo comes into the series betting 190 something. My god. And he gives up three or gets three hits yesterday. Four hits today. I’m like, man, come on. Get out of here. I’m going down the same road as Lou, too. The fact that we didn’t get the pitching from the guys who should give us the pitching, then we needed the pitching and now all of a sudden he’s talking about Sai Siwe Tang or Sai Young guy. Oh my god. Uh this is Lou says Tuesday. Who’s pitching? Lou, who’s pitching? Announce. It depends. Uh we’re going to have to see if we have somebody in single or double A or maybe some guy that has in eight months because uh injuries injuries are part of the game, guys. Come on. You know, it’s no more uh no more talk about Logan Webb being a Sai Young candidate this year. I don’t want to hear. Oh, that’s done now. It’s done. I don’t want to hear it. By the way, his RA is 4.63 since the All-Star break. Let me repeat that. His ERA since the All-Star break 4.63. 63. Yeah, it’s bad. Yeah, Bob Melvin yesterday, I I brought this up last night and I don’t know if you guys feel about this, but he had Gage warming up in the bullpin facing that catcher, whatever the guy’s name is, whatever, whatever you want to call him. Anyway, he walked Rojos, the righty BH. I’m talking about BH who’s getting his BH beat in. And why do you have the dude warming up in the bullpin if you’re going to not face bring him in to face the lefty? Because who’s on deck is what? Are you going to wait and see if you got to face Otani? It’s too late. I said the same thing on the show yesterday. Was just getting beat and wild. Get him out of there. Bring in Gage. Get the out and it’s 6-4. Okay. But no, another hit. 84. Another hit 94. And you know, yeah, the Giants bounced back, got three, but if you could have held him at six, maybe the Giants actually get ahead and feel like, hey, we got back into this the momentum. It’s not our first time. It’s not our first time questioning the bullpen moves. Yeah. And the other thing I want to ask is look, I know how you feel about Wilmer and uh Glenn and he’s been a, you know, a really good giant and he’s really good at his role, I think, which is occasionally being in the lineup and then pinch hitting when we need a big hit. Wilmer should have been gone at the trade deadline. Yeah. But now that Smith’s out, you’re not you’re you’re making Wilmer the DH or playing him at first. And I don’t know, is there a better option as the DH like today? Didn’t he DH today? Eric, you had a great you had a great conversation yesterday on the when you called in after the game. What was you you had a a setup who you wanted to DH? How How did you have have it laid out? Uh oh. For today, I wanted Incarnos to DH. You said Incarnos daging. Yeah. Yeah. Either incarnation or maybe Ramos and putting Moss out in left field or something like that. Give you a little bit better defense. Um but let’s not Wilmer’s bats look today. He was great, but he had he has good numbers against Glass now. That’s why he was in the lineup today. The guy was batting like freaking 500. Had like four five home runs off the guy. I mean, he had really good numbers and that’s why he was in the lineup today. Yesterday, last night. Oh, it was brutal. It was brutal last night. But, uh, I didn’t even, you know, when it got to was 8 to1, I I just I just shut it down. I was watching football. I was like, forget it. This is just a waste of my time. the game I was at Friday night and again today, do you realize both of those games, the book ends, it was the sixth inning, we had one hit in each. Yeah. And but but today’s game um Flores Yeah. was two for four today. Um you know, I don’t know. It’s just uh it’s it’s kind of rough just watching the lineup. Devils is kind of cooled off. As Devs goes, it seems like the Giants go. Uh Wil or um Elliot Ramos, same way. Both of them are one for 10 and that’s I ain’t getting it done. And you got you got freaking Ramos out there leading off. Sure, he t he’ll draw a walk here and there, but uh Ramos has got to uh step up. Uh last night freaking Adamus and Chapman, they were they were the stars of the game as far as hitting. And even uh Incan had a nice double down the line. Bailey had a nice double down the line as well. I mean, like I said, they scored seven runs. It was it was all about the pitching, man. And that’s what this series was about. Not necessarily the first Well, I guess you could say the first one because Verlander went out and threw his ass off, but um when you when you’re allowing 13 runs last night, 10 runs today. I mean, you’re not you’re not putting yourself in a good position to win games. Eric, one of the thing that sort of pissed me off is, you know, you got Ramos in the left who’s a mystery when it comes to defense. Mtos in center. I don’t want to see him in center anymore. I mean, it’s ridiculous. That was rough, dude. That was a rough. Very rough. And then you got Ramos who’s more excited about a walk instead of getting a hit. You know, it was like the whole series he was excited to get a walk. It’s like, what is wrong with these guys? I don’t know if they’re mentally drained or the pressure has just gotten into these guys because you got to remember Ramos, this is still is his second year. So, you know, now that the tension’s on, maybe the pressure is coming on, you know, it’s it’s it’s it’s horrible route yesterday. He took and then we talk about our star player, the guy misses first base. I mean, are you kidding me? That’s where you take him. You take him down to the dugout, tell him, dude, this can’t happen. You know, you got to remember it. We just saw it today. It’s the same thing when Rob today in the middle middle of the game or earlier. End end of the game. Oh, I I wasn’t watching. Yeah, Gilbert missed the bag. Miss first base. Yeah. How do you do that? On a on a on a double or what? That’s Yeah, he stretched it out a double. Never touched it. Running again. Same crap with Ramos. you know, these mistakes, they all add up. And tell you the truth, it’s sort of an embarrassment. You know, he just sort of sat there. That’s what I don’t like about Melvin, his coaching staff. It’s like a slap on the wrist. Take the guy, explain him why he can’t do it again. Stop over your knee and give him a waist and slap his ass. Right. I’m sure I’m sure they talked about a dog in an embarrassment and be a [ __ ] ball player. Yeah, I’m sure he is. Then we win the game on Friday night, which was beautiful, and we won it on pitching, but who But did you ever think who was our offense? Who won the game for us? Our worst our worst hitter. Our worst hitter. And remember, right now, he’s probably the best hitter right now. And that tells you something. And Glenn, what happened the inning before? Oh my god. Oh, don’t get me going on. I’m a cray. I thought that I tried to let that leash go. I’m just saying you have you have first and base is loaded uh with with one out the place is rocking and you can’t you know I mean it’s just I mean they were very lucky because you remember in the top of the inning the Dodgers had two guys on to start the inning ends by he threw that BB that was beautiful but still you know it’s just it’s like you got to play a complete game that’s why there’s 27 outs that’s why and I’ll tell you what if you want to talk about defense that double play that de started at first base last night was a thing of beauty. Unbelievable. He feels it right toes it to second base. Willie Adamus fires it back to Logan Webb covering first and Logan Webb was pumped. Unfortunately, the next inning didn’t exactly pan out. So, do you guys still think that uh that Bailey is this defensive superstar? They’re showing all the numbers are showing that he is. So, I just maybe not necessarily a fast. I think we could have a better catcher all around catcher. Honestly, the way he’s been playing, I wouldn’t be surprised if I don’t think they’re going to move off of him. He’s had the two two most dramatic uh hits of the year. Yeah. Two most dramatic hits. See, it’s Hey, we’ll see what happens in the off season. And that’s what the team wants anyway, right? It’s all about putting fannies in the seat. Make money. It doesn’t matter what we win or lose, right? You know, it was good to see full houses, all three, but what do you expect? It’s the Dodgers and we’re in playoff. If it wasn’t a full house, then you know, there’d be problems. That place was packed last night, man. Packed. I couldn’t get a seat unless we had gotten rid of our seats. So, I said, “No, I want to go.” Are you serious? They were they were chanting this today down eight runs being LA. Oh, yeah. They all weekend. All weekend they were talking last time, but I was surrounded by Dodger fans. Please, please, please don’t don’t embarrass yourselves and chant beat LA when you’re down eight nine to one. My goodness. H It’s frustrating. That’s as bad as the wave. Yeah, no waves. Didn’t see any waves. Um I don’t know. We’ll see. Three games here in Arizona. Maybe I’ll go to one of them or two of them. I don’t know. We’ll see. What time’s the game tomorrow? 6:40. That’s usually what time. I’m not sure. Uh Gallon, Rodriguez, and FA are going for Arizona. Gallon against Tang. Gallon at home’s a lot different. Tuesday. I I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Landon R. Would not be surprised if Gallon was good against his last outing, too. Is Wizard Hunt ready to come back? has he I don’t know if he has he thrown I know I know uh uh group has thrown a couple of bullpens I think yeah that’s a good point we don’t have enough we don’t have enough depth that’s a good point senior brings up what’s that de gets one hit and we’re ripping on Gilbert for no no no no we’re not blaming it on Gilbert just that you don’t do that as a major leager right you just don’t miss the bag that that’s all we’re saying is that would is that going to cost the game when it’s freaking eight No it’s not you’re No, Eric, but you got to be able to go. You got to be able to do the small things, right? Isn’t that what Buster Posey has been saying all along? Do the small things. You do the small things more times than not, you’re going to have success. You got to do the small things. Well, if you’re going to be the raw guy, you know, he’s playing second fiddle right now to Adamus. You know, he’s out there. He rips after a home run, he’s taking Adamus helmet off. If you’re going to be the raw guy and you’re going to be eating jerseys in the dugout, you better show up. It was like last year when they decided to put in the the the ninth inning bullpen light system. I said to Eric on the show multi times, I said, “Well, if you’re gonna if you’re gonna have the gimmicks, you better have a bullpen guy who matches the show.” Who deserves? So, you can’t have this guy missing first base and being like all tough in the dugout. I’m here to play. Well, you [ __ ] blew it there. Like, ah, it’s this team. You talk about my guy Flores should be gone. We’re weak in so many aspects of the game. Let’s Let’s see what happens, guys. That’s all I’m saying. Let’s see what happens. You got 13 to go, baby. Only two and a half back. Let’s see what happens. Maybe they want to bring I want to bring something up. Today’s game was over, right? We had uh Brew Baker, you know, Robert Redford, one of his greatest roles of all time. Uh Brew Baker, who I’ve never seen before, right? He got hit. Why? Why is it in the last inning when you don’t have a pitcher for Tuesday, you pitch home run Seymour? Why? Because he ain’t pitching. He ain’t pitching. He ain’t starting on Tuesday. That ain’t happening, I don’t think. Yeah, but you could have had somebody instead you waste his thing. That’s how bad the bullpin is. Use you know, it’s just I just don’t like some of these little moves, especially now with 13 every game. You know, as Dan is a part of this show, you as Marty says, you can’t get this uh you can’t get this game back on uh the opening scene of Dan. You can’t get this game back. You can’t get Well, then you make such a dumb move. You I’m sorry, but you know, this whole series, you know, we talked yesterday, Melvin kept the guy in too long. We talked today, Melvin kept the guy in too long. It happens all the time, you know, but for some reason, this winning streak, first of all, Giants still are not, they’re 500, okay? But they’re not 500 for the season yet, okay? They still got to win six more games to be 500. Okay, so before we say that, let’s stop praising Melvin how they’re back in it because of Melvin. Are you sure it’s because of Melvin or is it because of the Mets complete fall from grace? It’s the players. It’s the players. The players got to play. And if the players play, then you’re okay. If they fail, look, that’s the thing, right? If everything goes great, it’s the players. If everything comes apart, it’s the manager. That’s just what it is. That’s just the nature of things. And it sucks. And and I’m I’m on record. Hey, I’m not going to blame Melvin for the wins and I’m not going to blame him for the losses. Now, is there times that a manager can lose it for somebody? Absolutely. Is there a time that a manager can win it? Yes, there can be. A lot more so, I would say. Maybe like back in the day when you could change out your your bullpin without the three uh the three hitter limit. Man, you want to talk about who you have. Yeah. Boi was they invented that role because of Bochi. Well, there you saw the best. Now we see somebody who’s very average and I’m being gracious grading him on a scale how he treats the thing. You know, I’ve never seen where he he sends out the pitching coach, the next guy hits a three-run homer, and then he takes him out. I mean, it happens all the time. Just take the guy out. You know, especially as Dan says, if the guy’s warming up, you know, again, our bullpen is so fragile right now. Why do you warm a guy up and not use him until two wins down the road? You know, it’s it’s it’s counterproductive. And, you know, that was a huge part of the game. You know, we we talked about last week when, you know, Bochi and uh Afflac was ready in the third inning. That’s because I think it might have been Rags. I’m not sure who the pitching coach was said. Yeah. Be ready just in case Hudson doesn’t isn’t ready to go the third inning. Just be ready. Bochi told him too. You know, it’s like you guys got You know, I that’s why I’m not a fan of Melvin. You know, the other thing is what happened with San Diego. you had the best team and they ran you out of town and we were dumb enough to get him, you know, and then he brings these other guys that are are horrible with him. You know, he hasn’t been good for 10 years. I mean, tell me where he’s good. He had all these great teams with the A’s, but they never won. He had he had one of the best teams in San Diego, never won. He’s been with us, never won. I mean, my god, you guys. And then, you know, it’s Oh, he’s a former Giant. He was a horrible giant. Look at his stats. He was a shitty catcher for us. But because he played with us a little bit, we got to bring him back. Part of the family. What a Okay, hold on. Hold on. Was Bo was Bochi a pretty good catcher? Well, he was already a proven manager. He was already a manager. But I’m just saying as far as just I’m just talking about his his prior I don’t know. Let’s put up those stats. Put up Melvin. Let’s look at it. Melvin, here we go. This is going to be bad. I have a feeling Melvin’s better. Uh oh. I think so, too. Oh, you’re right, too. You’re right. You know, Bob Melvin too often. Dan said it earlier. I said it on the show while I was talking to I was interviewing Eric coming back from the ballpark last night. He had somebody up in the bullpen. He actually had somebody ready and then still didn’t go to him. So, that pisses me up. And you know what? I was just thinking, doesn’t this September of 25 remind you of a lot of 2024? We should have been seeing the young guys. Terrible schedule in September, but we won. We went on a big tear in September, so it changed the whole thing for the team. I just I it’s hard for me to stay. If you want to talk about injuries, go to Texas’s pitching staff. They’ve lost four out of their five starters, guys, and they’re only two back. No. And that in fact, not only are they only two back, Seattle leads uh the division. So, I’m just saying, you know, that division’s very competitive. Lou, is your I don’t know if it’s your internet or your mic. Something’s you’re you’re going in and out. Is your mic check your mic on the settings and see if it’s No, I think he’s got to check he’s got to check his blood pressure monitor. Mhm. No, check on your check on the settings under under the StreamYard. See if it’s Yeti. Um, yeah, I think No, he’s good. Good. Good. You guys want to take a Let’s take a look. This should be fun. This should be fun. Two guys in the squad. All right. 692. Oh, they’re pretty similar. Hold on. They are once 2.3 war. One’s 2.5. again taking the defense and consider 92 OPS plus the 69. Go scroll it down a little bit more or up to the top. 26 homers to 35. That’s that’s I don’t want to give away but that’s that’s from the top to the bottom. Only 30. That is the top. That is the top to the bottom. I I’m gonna say uh I’m going to say ops plus I think Melvin’s over on the right. Melvin’s on the right. Mochi’s on the left. Yeah, Mochi on the right. I say Melvin’s on the left or the right. Now you bring it up. The right. I was right. I was right. Okay. 35 homers. There you go. Yeah, it was the it was the Melvin had a lot more games. Almost double the game. That’s what I thought. Yeah, I remember I couldn’t see Bruce Bochi getting more than that one stolen base. I think that was on uh indifference. So, both of them their catching career wasn’t the greatest or Bochi Hall of Famer. Right. Show the boys. I was right. Right. Melvin was on the right. Melvin was on the right. Bochi is baseball’s rookie card. Oh my god. Does he ever look different? He got the big sting and Yeah. I didn’t think u Melvin or Bochi. I don’t remember him playing as much as Melvin did. Right. I think if I’m not mistaken, I think Bochi was more of a backup, wasn’t he? Well, so was Melvin, but he was definitely Bochi. I thought he was starting a few times, didn’t he? Start a few times. He did maybe for a little while. Not much. He was the backup to Brenley for for a while, but uh here. And then he he came from the Detroit organization. But was interesting is Bochi was a true backup back in the days where you rarely Right. So I guess now that we’re winning in the month of September, he protects his job. Oh, hold on. I see some. Most likely, unless they they’re bringing all these bums back for next year, thinking somehow they’re going to be a 10ame improvement. I think unless they lay lay an egg, lay a complete egg. They’ll probably make one trade. Uh they’ll trade a pitcher. Hoping our young guys can come back. They’ll probably trade Ray, which I think is too late because he only has one more year left now, of course, cuz Webb is Sai Young. We have him. They’ll probably maybe they’ll bring back Verlander for one year. But, you know, we still have major holes. I we don’t we still don’t have a closer. I mean, we have a closer that Dan hates. Uh I don’t like him either because you never know what you’re going to get. Um, I think and I think we got to spend a lot of money on the bullpen and with the four big contracts it’s, you know, we’re gonna we’re gonna do like Yaz 2.0. I, you know, I heard Eric on his earlier show. I think they need I’m not a big fan of Lee. We don’t have a center fielder that can do both hit and that and contact and everything. I mean, Lee’s okay, but he’s not worth what he’s getting paid for. We need We obviously need a right fielder. We’re going to need a left fielder. we’re going to be in the same boat again. You know, it’s just one of those things. I’m um I’m I’m I’m kind of um with Lee. I’m not ready to to get say it’s awful because this really is like an extended rookie season. He really only played into May last year and I think he’s coming around for a guy that’s really what is he 26 something like that. You know, he’s going to need to improve. Everybody’s going to need to improve next year for this. You get to see what he’s also going to do. You you’re seeing the ball player he is. I I was high on him thinking he was going to hit for average, get on base, and he was going to be speedy. He’s not hit for the average now. He has no speed, it appears. And uh is he that good? Is he that good? Maybe I was wrong. What is his batting average uh right now? Let me take a look. Jung Hu probably about 258. No, 260 something. Let’s see. Jung Hu Lee is hitting 266. He was over 270 a few uh you know he leads, believe it or not, he leads the team in batting average. Next is Ramos at 262 and then it’s D’s 257 and then it’s a long drop off after 257 to find anybody in the 240 range and that is Chapman at 241. What do you know is lifetime average and Flores is at 240. And then you got uh Schmidz falling off. He’s down to 236. But this is this is this is a this is a this is a 4A plus team. Dom Smith, wasn’t he batting 280 before you went down? Yeah, Dom Smith. Yeah, this is this is a lineup that’s got a lot of guys that still don’t strike a lot of They’re average players. Yeah, it just it really is. It It’s, you know, I I don’t know. I don’t know if this Moss Gilbert thing has has really been the effective way to go. Moss was hot and then they cooled him off. They just like poured cold water on says, “Okay, you’re platooned now. We’re going to start platooning because Gilbert’s hitting, too.” So, um I don’t know. It’s like, okay, we’re gonna we’re gonna platoon both of you and then neither one of you are gonna get any rhythm. I don’t know. It’s just I’m not crazy about it, but we’ll see. 13 games to go, all within the division except the three against St. Louis. Seven against on the road and then six at home. Um I think Lou’s right. They got to go at least four and three on this trip. If they go two and five and yeah, the Mets, you lose the series against Arizona, man. You’re I’m not betting on I’m not betting on to make the postseason, but you know what I would put my money on, Dan? What’s that? There’s someone in the chat. That’s That’s Shardall in disguise. H the M man. As soon as he said, “Can I come on? Can I come on the show?” I said, “That that’s him.” Yeah. The Yeah. Oh, yeah. The Mader. Yeah, that’s that’s Shard. Yeah, that is that’s that’s Hey, Eric, there there were two super chats. I don’t know if you’ve gotten to them yet. Oh, let’s do it. Here you go. Mike Val, two bucks. I vote to move her to move to a fourman rotation. What say you? What do you guys think about that one first? No. Uh fourman rotation. No, we hardly Well, you hardly have four. I don’t even I think we have a That’s about all we have, is it, guys? I think Let’s Let’s ask Jackson Brown. Running on empty. Yeah, I don’t think it’ll work. I say no. Uh, Mike Val also donates another two bucks. Theory. Oh, did that one go over everybody’s head? I think so. Yeah, I think so. Theory being I know it didn’t go over Glenn and I was like, okay, he’s what he’s trying to say is you go Tang and Seymour as the fourth starter as a pitch today in a useless game. If you want because they know he’s not he’s they’re not cut out to lead us to any promised land, guys. I mean, you you know, and then here here’s the other thing. gonna be going. You’re you’re expecting a win, Lou, with those two are band-aids. They’re band-aids. But here’s the thing. You’re you’re putting out so much pressure on Web and Ray the first two games at Dodger Stadium. So, say they go one and two in Arizona where the Dodger games are must wins, right? What’s going to happen? You know, Robert, where have you been the last 48 hours? We’ve been talking about this. Yeah, they surge, but the last two things don’t really help. So, say they go one and two in Arizona because of the pitching matchups. You now have you put the pressure on Web where it’s a must-win. He’s coming off one of his worst losses. And then you got Ray at Dodgers Stadium where the place will be rocking, you know, because you got to remember the Dodgers need the games because of the San Diego situation. So, I you know, I just don’t like what uh what it is. You know, I just don’t like it’s hard to believe the Giants are going to do something when our number one and 1A just got destroyed. We have Cracker Jack box going tomorrow. We don’t know who’s going on Tuesday. And we’re hoping Verlander can do what he couldn’t do the first half, but do the last three games. Remember, he’s pitched great. You know, I think the biggest problem with the Giants is they have nobody that can get to the fifth inning or through the fifth inning. They’re all going four, three. Tang last time pitched two. Seymour pitched one. It’s an embarrassment. We have nobody that can get to the sixth inning, you know, and every single time what the what all the opponents are doing now is they’re realizing the Giants if you just be patient at the plate and the Dodgers did this really well. Get to a couple eight maybe pitch uh streaks. The do the Giants are going to beat 85 in the fourth inning and then get to their bullpen and you win. They said that on the broadcast today. They took a lot of pitches. They worked the pitcher and he was and they forced their hand. And you know what? You said something, Lou. Uh I’m not disagreeing with you earlier in the show. You said, you know, coming up in the next trip, they could be four and three or three and four. Four and three isn’t even cutting it. Lou, you can’t lose. Three more losses. Dude, we’re going to you’re running out of time. You’re you’re at this point in time. You mentioned the guys we’re we’re we’re fighting with now. That’s the Reds, the Dbacks, the Padres’s. All of a sudden, there’s a lot of teams you’re hoping lose some games. Yeah. And we got a leap frog. Like, we’re going to It just I can’t see it, but hey, stranger things have happened. There’s no way. They have They have zero chance of catching the Padres’s. They’re six and a half back of the Padres’s and they lost the season series. So they’re seven and a half back of the Padres’s with 13 to go. They’re the Padres’s. The Dodgers basically want to finish off the Giants this weekend because they want to try and finish off the Padres’s as quick as possible. They have a two and a halfame lead over the Padres’s, three in the loss column. So technically the Dodgers have to lose four more games than than the Padres’s do because the Dodgers own the tiebreaker over the Padres’s. So four losses any combination of uh you got what 13 games to go and the Dodgers have to lose four more. That means if the Mets or if the Padres’s lose like four games and the Padres’s, let’s see, if the Padres’s lose four and the Dodgers win four, that’s eight games off the schedule with 13 to go, it’s it’s almost impossible. So, the Dodgers, believe me, what they want to do is they want to finish off, have a big week, and go into the last week where they may need to win Monday or Tuesday to to clinch the division. and then they use the rest of the week to just line up their bullpin or their rotation because remember the Dodgers don’t get a buy this year most likely unless uh yeah Milwaukey’s getting it. Yeah, Milwaukee and Philly two teams get it and the Phillies have been just, you know, running through the Phillies are 89 and 61. Dodgers 84 and 65 and they play this week. So those are going to be meaningful games. Uh I don’t know if they play That’s their best pitcher, by the way. Remember that. Philly Zack Wheeler. But they’re still they still got Suarez and they still got um Sanchez, which are both. But look at those teams you’re mentioning, Dan. You need three pitchers to get into the postseason. Look at those teams you’re mentioning. Again, I go back to what Dallas said earlier, and I’m not going to change my mind. You just said Milwaukee, Phillies, Dodgers, Cubs, Padres’s. even if we get in, you know, Richard saying, but they said that they said that in 2010 said that in 2010, the Braves and the Phillies and we took them both down. So, um, this ain’t a 201 years ago. Hey guys, Giants, Reds, Mets, I want to see what you guys are talking about next Sunday when I asked you Giants, Reds, Mets. If we’re at the we’re at the till, we’re placing our bet. Who gets in? You got You’re putting the house on the line, Eric, up there in G. You better win. You better pick the right one. Giants, reds, or Mets. So, you can’t pick with your heart. Do you legitimately Are you legitimately saying the Giants are going to win? You could You could throw in the Dbacks in there, too. The Dbacks. True. They’re only two out. They’re They’re They win. They’re playing the Giants this week. They’re playing the San Francisco Giants. We make a lot of teams better. So, Giants, Reds, Mets, Dbacks, Giants baseball. We make teams better. We make other teams better. That’s a good good Well, there’s nothing like it. That’s for sure. Yeah. You I’m going to go I’m going with I’m going with the Mets because I what LE said earlier, the the the who who thought the Giants would even be here? What happened? They went on a run because they were so bad. The Mets have been so bad. I think they’re gonna go on a run. I I’ll go second. Looks like I’m seeing it in the chat. I’m I’m trying to verify. Bryce Eldridge. Haven’t seen it yet, though. I mean, look. It’s Susan Slutzer. I mean, she’s drunk. Sorry. Why would you bring him up? You know why, Lou? He can go for 25. Because they’re panicking. It’s panic time. I think it’s um five minutes ago. It’s an actual It’s an actual article. Hold on. I don’t see anything else in Twitter’s talking about this. Ah, forget it. Oh my god. It’ll be lively chat with senior this week, Eric. I think the Reds probably have the best starting pitching. They’re just not hitting right now, right? I mean, they they had a lead in every game at Arizona, but that ballpark I almost it’s just so strange. But, you know, they have better pitching. Um, why would we call him up? First of all, it’s playoff baseball. Eldridge has never been in this situation before. Okay, real quick. Isn’t the Triple A’s almost done, too, right? I think one more week. Yeah, but neither’s Drew Gilbert and neither has, you know, uh, there’s a lot of guys in this team. I don’t understand why everyone thinks Eldridge is a savior. He’s not the savior. Okay, we already have standard guy, especially during playoffs. You never want to bring a young guy. He’s expected to join the Giants tomorrow in Arizona. Yeah, it’s panic time. Panic time. No, we’re not talking Joe. It’s panic time. You know what? I I like it. I’ll tell you why I like it. I like it. Even though I’m down, I got him in the fantasy league. I wish I wish the trade deadline was not there was mid. I haven’t even put a roster in in about 40 days, though. Oh man, it’s a battle. Hey, you know what? Let’s see what the kid could do. Let’s see. Let’s see what they games left in the season. The team still in the pen race. The Giants are calling up their top prospect. First baseman Bryce Eldridge. The chronicle has learned Eldridge 20 was the Giants first pick. Okay. You know what? Well, that answers what you were talking about earlier when we we had an injury Friday night. You don’t want to go with Wilbur. Who’s going down? Is it Gilbert Young? I think Gilbert I think Gilbert goes down after today. I think I think hasn’t done a whole lot. You’re gonna you’re gonna exercise him out for somebody coming in. Uh it’s it’s it’s going to be okay. So they’re bringing him up and Drew Gilbert ate all ate ate too many ate all the balls. So all right. I expect him to be in the lineup. Otherwise, they might use him as a pinch hitter, but I think they need a spark. You think they use him as a DH instead? First base. Will be at first, then he’ll have him DH for You’re either going to lose Devers or you’re going to lose uh Wilmer. Wilmer. I think De says Gilbert isn’t going down. I don’t think you you put Incarnos down, do you? But you can’t cut him because then you lose him, right? I mean, I guess it doesn’t. I mean, do they want to do that yet? I don’t know. Has options. They will send down guys who have options. We all know this. If you got I’m looking right now on transactions. It says uh and Carision is on the 10 uh day DL. Did he get injured yesterday? Not that I know of. Let me take it. Really? Is he What’s it showing? Let me take a Oh, there you go. If someone’s going on a DL, that’s a different story. Isn’t it funny though? Isn’t it funny? the guy I said to the fans, “We’re hoping for a guy from the KBO and a guy from the Mexican League.” I hear you. No, don’t get me wrong, but the thing is once once you cut him, you can’t bring him back. And if you don’t play, there’s there’s nothing on Are you looking at the Giants page, Lou? But if you don’t play Wil, what happened to everybody’s comments in our chat? He was activated yesterday. He was It says placed Dominic Smith and infielder outfielder in on the 10day deal. No, no, no, no. It says Smith went on the IIL and I’m just looking at this activated. It doesn’t say activated on the Giants transaction. I’m just saying it’s right there. He didn’t get hurt. I don’t think that’s the case. I don’t know. I think Wilmer sits and you bring him in in the bench. He’s your clutch guy. Right there it is. Who? Wilmer being your clutch guy. He comes off the B. He sits on the bench. I’ll tell you, it’s either you guys better hurry up and there’s six more games to see the the new amazing stud. Uh, six games left in the season. Eric, I’ll see you Wednesday. Oh, I just left. I just left town. Jesus. Don’t blame me. I’m just telling you. He’s You might as well see the last six games. Right. Right. Are you guys Are you going Wednesday? Thinking about it. Are you going, Eric? All right. Thinking about it. to Arizona. Oh, you son of a No, next home stand. No, next home stand. Okay. Okay. Next. Next time. I got to see this young guy live up close. Look at Eric man about town now. He’s running the roads. Well, we Dude, I’m telling you, I’m all over the damn place now. He’s goodness gracious, man. Uh, wow. Bryce Endeavors will switch it off at first. I think so. That’s what I think’s going to happen. Ease him in. Ease him in as a DH, right? I don’t think I think if they’re calling him up, they’re not even going to ease him in. They’re going to play him. He’s going to he’s going to be in the lineup every day. No, no, no, no. I mean, DH as far as position playing. Okay. But I think he’ll he’ll be in the lineup. I think you play the rest of the way out. Play you the rest of the way out because they’re scared now. They may they may they may not let him face they may not let him have him face a lefty. Well, that’s what we wanted every September, right? Right. You may not see him Tuesday. Hey Dan, you better go to the game tomorrow. Who’s pitching Tuesday? That’s what I said. He’s gonna Oh, okay. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe I’ll go see his first game. Go see his first live reports with Dan tomorrow, huh? Do it, dude. Do it. Do it. All right. All right. Well, are we ready to pack this thing in? I mean, this is Yeah, why not? That was fun. I mean, uh Well, we we we did get Bryce Eldridge. Bryce Eldridge. Hey, why not? Breaking news on the Hot Corner. All right, time to bring back. It’s Hey, forget the uh Hot Corner. Let’s Let’s go with the new network name. Welcome to the Homer Network. We’re all back in. We’re all back in. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Before we go, nobody answered the question. And then you come back with your big cheer and we’ll say focus. Yeah. Eric be focused. Eric will be at the game. He’ll be at the next home stand ripping it up. He’ll have his foam finger and he’ll cheering on Eldridge. Maybe I’ll get on. Maybe I’ll be Hey, look. You guys know me. I come on here and I rip just as good as anyone else. But look, I’m not gonna give up. I’m just I can rip a few, too. Hold on. No, I tell you. I mean, look, they’re still there. My god. 13 to go. Two and a half out. Is that a lucky number? There we go. Eldridge watch. Oh, it’ll start. Oh, we can run that now every night. Yeah, now we can run it. There we go. You know, you know what would really suck if this guy just completely just just goes off and just propels him into the playoffs and then he’s not eligible and then he’s not eligible. But whatever. Oh, you know whatever. If you wait if he does it, don’t forget I told you the Giants are going to make it. Oh, wait a minute. Oh, wait a minute. This is going to be a corresponding move. Somebody’s going to get dropped off the 40. Somebody Drew Gilbert. Oh, God. No, no, he’s not gonna get dropped off the 40 here. Let’s predict. Let’s predict the 40. I want to predict this. There’s a lot of people in that 40, I think. Right. Isn’t there uh I am g Somebody could go on Somebody could go on the 60 if they think if you know is done. They could throw him 60. No, Grant. They gonna No, they’re not going to pull him. They could throw uh they could throw Wizen Hunt or RP on the 60 if they if they think one of them’s not going to pitch. Probably RP. Um let me take a gander as well here. What do we got? Uh let’s see. I’m looking here. Um hey. Yeah. I wonder Eric Miller’s on his 60day. He over I’m seeing it right now. I don’t think he was before he was throwing bullpins. Was he on the 60-day? Was he always Check Check the roster. Was it Was he always on the 60-day? I can’t remember. Wait a second. Do they have an open man on the 40? Oh, do they? Are you sure? Because remember, for a while they had a lot of guy or they had a couple of position. Eric, Lou, Dan, don’t forget I’m back in a different time zone. So, we got to head out into the newsroom. The San Francisco Giants drop the series with today’s loss against the Los Angelese Dodgers 10-2. Story of the series was Logan Webb and Robbie Ray did not execute in their respective starts, and the bullpen was shaky. Both starters only went 4 innings each and had problems locating their pitches.

The Giants are still only 2 1/2 behind the 3rd WC. Can they muster enough to achieve that last WC position?
