Minnesota Twins at Los Angeles Angels, September 10, 2025
Dual Sports Network, the home of the Clippers, Kings, and Angels. [Music] [Music] On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, we welcome you to our Angels live pregame presented by Spectrum and only on FanDuel Sports Network as your Angels take on the Minnesota Twins with the series on the line. The Angels got the first win of the year against the Twins last night and it was fun to see. It was just a clean baseball game. Certainly made up for the first game of the series and they did it all with some serious two out magic. We’re going to break it down. You don’t see very often what they accomplished. And I tell you what, the professor was on point. We have no homework for Kyle Hendris. the professor dealing and he got it all done with a new battery mate Sebastian Rivera was fantastic and Erica Weston has that story hanging out with Mark Gubaza and Mark Langston great to see you guys let’s get over the hump win this series Langanger we talked about it yesterday right play a good baseball game be a good teammate unselfish they did that do that again today go into Seattle with momentum a lot of times it’s hard to clean the slate after a game that they had the night before and certainly they did and Raymond Montgomery talked about it. Sometimes it’s not the physical, it’s the mental break that you need. So, the Angels didn’t hit yesterday. They showed up later than normal and boy did that pay offensively. That was fun to watch. Yeah, they simplified their approach to the play. But I still go back. It was all the tone was set by Kyle Hendricks when out there put up some zeros early and then put up zeros the rest of the game also. But the the offense, they did they was bunch of singles early on. Then we saw some home runs later in the game. But just putting the ball in play with two strikes and two outs and be able to score those runs like that. That’s what you want to see on a consistent basis. What a great turnaround that game was. And they did it without Joe Adele is the reigning player of the week. But the great news is is that Joe is back in the lineup today. Langanger, he he was dealing with vertigo uh for two and a half games. Had to leave the game on Sunday. It was it was hot. It had nothing to do with hydration. Vertigo, that’s tough to come back from, but we’re happy to see him back. Yeah, it’s great to see him back and certainly he’s cleared this pretty quickly. So, you like to see that. I think he probably could have played yesterday. They wanted one more day to get him going here today in the finale against the Twins. Certainly, it’s a day game. The ball will fly. Joe Adell in the lineup. Hopefully, we’ll see him doing what he’s doing right there. Trotting around the bases. Yeah, six RBI’s away from 100. I’ll tell you what, what he has done for the beginning part of the season to what he’s doing right now, it’s a lot of fun. He still has an outside shot at 40 home runs in a season, which would be incredible along with 100 RBI’s, but his improvements, the way he’s hitting the ball, how hard he’s hitting the baseball, the bat speed, everything behind it, fantastic. Yeah, we just saw him in the dugout. He gave us a wave and a nod. He looks ready to go. As far as last night, the 12 runs, the 17 hits, all those 12 runs, Langanger, coming with two outs. It’s only the second time in franchise history that’s happened. Yeah, and they did it early with small ball and they got the first two guys on. Zack Neto goes up and bunts, moves guys over. Who would have thought your number three guy was going to be bunning? But he did. And it was Renhifa with the big clutch do out hit that got that offense up and running and certainly that was big for Reno and I think that set the tone for the Angels offense there last night. I think they did a good job on Matthew’s cutter, too. His slider is a swing and miss pitch, but their cutter in that approach and I love the fact is they press the issue there with a double steel scoring runs there. that just keeps doing that, putting pressure on the defense. And you know, Chris Taylor, a great swing, got a base hit there. He came in there, filled in for Joe Adell. Had a Joe Adele type game last night with four RBI with a three-run home run. Yeah, that’s what it’s all about when you your name is called. Are you ready to play? And certainly for Chris Taylor, big moments for Heo continues to have a big game last night. Taylor Ward delivering in a clutch two out hit right there to just continue to pad the score. And then the power stuff comes into play. Chris Taylor first home run as a halo right here. This bomb to center field. Moa will join him later. Yeah, I mean that’s the thing when when you up there with with with two outs as a pitcher generally you’re focus in there getting through an inning but they did a nice job of just making good contact in there. When you do that good things happen and there’s nothing more frustrating. Langanger, you know that when you get two outs, the guys in scoring position, you think you’re through the inning and you end up giving up 12 runs. Last time that happened was 1962. That was a few years ago. By the way, that’s a great year. 1962. Yeah. And there’s Mona. He’s delivered another home run. He’s he’s put together here in the second half. A lot of really good at bats. We’re starting to see the pop. This guy’s such a talented player and he’s just been hurt. And that’s being on the field. We’ve talked so much about the twin guys being hurt. It’s Monata when he’s on the field. He’s a differencemaker. Fair to say that the 60 is the best decade. Yes. No question. Okay. Just making sure we are all in agreement. Erica Weston might not be in She What are you talking about? Erica joins us right now. Kyle Hendris, the professor was great, but also new battery mate. They connected really well. And now BFFs. Yeah, they might be. Patio, you were a firsthand an experiencer of that last night. No doubt about it. We found out actually uh this morning that Kyle Hendricks has been calling his own game for the majority of the year, but he really kind of implemented that going back to about June. So obviously the professor went straight to work with Sebastian Rivero behind the plate last night. They had a great meeting before the game, but it really helped put Sebastian at ease and it led to seven shutout innings for Kyle Hendricks. The second time this season he has pitched into the seventh inning. Now we asked the professor if he had CG on the mind. By the way, his last one was in May of 2021. Certainly not, but he’s so appreciative of the work that everybody has helped him this season to get to this point and really had a great time with Rivero behind the plate last night. Here is more from the two of them on their uh partnership in the game last night. Amazing. Amazing. He’s just like he’s a guy you want to catch like every day if that’s how it feels and that’s he he want me to feel like that. So he was calling the pitches. I was just putting my glove there and he just gets it there. That’s how call it is. He was calling the game. Yes. Yes. Basically, yes. I just put the picks and the stuff, but he caught his own game. It was uh was fun working with Sebastian and stuff was good early. Obviously, it was down in the zone. Played my fast ball well. Change up was working off it. Mixed the curveball in in good spots when we needed to and just did a really good job working together today. Seeing the swings, some really good defense behind me. A couple big double plays early and then just the at bats tonight. Unbelievable. Two outs. Uh scoring every run like that just showed really good fight from our guys. typical of the professor who spun a gem last night to give credit to just about everybody on the roster and involved with the team last night. One pitching note for you guys, I know you’ll dive into it a little bit later. It was supposed to be Jose Soraniano in the finale this afternoon. Instead, it’ll be Jose Urania Soraniano goes tomorrow in Seattle. We know about his home and road splits and the issues there. Ray Montgomery said before the game that’s got nothing to do with it. They just wanted to give him an extra day of rest and obviously a big environment for Soraniano to pitch in tomorrow as the Mariners are in their playoff position race right now. I like it. That’ll be some great atmosphere. Erica, thanks very much. Have a great game. Thanks, Patty. All right, so we’ll get into that certainly a little bit later. But back to the professor Gooby calling his own game. He is the professor. He had everything working last night. You’re talking about hitting spots. I mean, he was getting swinging misses on his sicker, but his change up was electric. The fade change up really worked effectively against the lefties. Then he started mixing a couple of those cut change up to the righties, but the way he’s able to manipulate the plate and use the shadows with a sinker is phenomenal. And he was aggressive. And I love the fact Langanger that he mixed in a few curve balls to keep some of those right-handed batters on because he’s had struggles against right-handed batters this season. You the way I look at it when he’s pumping strikes with this fast, these are the type of games you can expect out of him. It was a Greg Maddox type start last night and the first 20 pitches he threw only two of them out of the strike zone. So when he’s throwing strikes it is such a difficult atbat for hitters. They’re they just he crawls into people’s heads. They’re hunting fast ball. He gives him the change up. They look sit on the change up. Here comes 86 and ties guys up. He was so good last night. Obviously feeling his position. You got to love every second of that. He knew exactly what to do with that. Get that double play. Get out of that jam. Uh it it was masterful last night. It was really fun to watch and and when he’s on his game like that, I I really truly enjoy watching a guy at at his craft and it’s just simple pitching. Pump in some strikes, change speeds off of that. Good things will happen. Real quick, was it hard for you guys not to see him try for a CG being oldtimes? Yes. I was thinking I thought the way his pitch count was so good, but I think it Ray Montgomery left it up to him. I think he must said he was good at that point because he was he had the stuff to do it. He was throwing so many strikes. He’s feeling his position well. There really wasn’t many baseballs hit hard against him. It was good to see that one. CT, you want you wanted this. Okay. I’m just making sure. What? He had 80 pitches. Yeah, 80 pitches. Go. Go for it. By the way, I knew you guys would say that. Of course. A very special first pitch being thrown out today by our longtime great friend, the graphics operator extraordinaire, Mitch Reinhardt, will be throwing out the first pitch. But to make it extra special, he’s throwing it out to Maruba. What are you looking forward to as we see Mitch at his workstation? He is fantastic. He is the magnificent Mitch. I mean, every day he just makes you feel so good going in the truck and has talked about what’s going to happen during the course of the game. But I can’t wait to see him on the mound here today. You know that velocity it may tick up a little bit today but right there the sinker you know maybe it didn’t work quite there at age 10 but I think there’s a good chance it’ll work here today. Good sinker at age nine washed up at age 10. Average fastball vo 29 typing speed at 100 words per minute. So those are those are your your your go I got my go-tos. I mean I got to believe just go imagine your John Elway out on the bump. I mean, he was a two-way player at Granada Hills High School, drafted by the Yankees, and I think he turned out pretty good on on the football side. But make sure you when you run that sinker today, this try not to hit me in the knee. That’s all I care about. That’s all I’m caring about. I’m actually hoping that happens. As a matter of fact, listen. Yeah. Well, it would be fun. It would make for Yeah, you know, that’s that’s that’s worth it road trip in a little pain. All right, Gooby. And listen, best of luck with that as we get a little love for Zack Neto. Cool him off. Can we get an umbrella? Can Zack? Well, I think that’s good enough. Appreciate that. See, that’s good. Can we chaos? There he is. There we got the shot. Professor, we’re still waiting on that shirt, but uh Zach Meadow. What an absolute superstar. Great stuff, Gooby. Have fun out there. I’m ready. All right, we will talk about Jose Urania who gets the uh the spot start, his first as an angel against his former team. In fact, stay right there. Some call it, others call it. But sometimes the journey is set on track with your ancestors cheering you on. For Francisco was the first roar in the stands. Every at bat was an encore. Every strike of the drum echoed like a promise. Your day in baseball starts with MLB Central. Good morning. Love spending our day with you. Lead off your morning with in-depth breakdowns. That’s Spectrum and that is a cool looking Halo fan with some sweet shades as your halos take on the Twins to win the series. Turning five, happy birthday. Happy birthday to Matt Burch as well who is a does a fantastic job. Angels Communications here with Mark Langston. So Jose Soraniano is going to get bumped to tomorrow in Seattle. I like the move and I also love what I saw from Jose Urania. Those five scoreless innings, no walks against the Athletics and he need they needed him in that spot to just settle down that bullpen. Yeah, certainly he did exactly what the Angels were hoping for. They needed somebody to give some length. He did a really nice job. five innings, just the two hits, no runs allowed. Fastball played really well. That split was excellent. So, he really was just mixing it up really in that spot with the split and the fast ball. Uh, that’s all he really needed. We’ll see tonight today as a day game out there against the Twins trying to finish this off. I love the move pushing Soriano back one extra day. That game’s meaningful tomorrow up in Seattle. Certainly for the Mariners. You want your ace, you want your horse, and he has pitched so much better on the road. So, I’m looking forward to that. Yeah, he certainly has pitched a great uh Urania on day games. He was a twin earlier this year. But, but we have to we have breaking news because Mitch Reinhardt, he wants the crowd, he wants to pump up the crowd a little bit. Our graphics operator for 37 years, nearly 4,000 Angels games, and Mark Guba is going to be catching this first pitch. There he is. This is very, very special, ladies and gentlemen. Let’s sit back, relax, take this moment in. Come on, Mitch. Don’t bounce it, baby. Stay on top. Always going for the laugh, though. You got to respect that. He gets it. He gets it there. A little bit of a shot put style. Langanger, how would you break it down? I got He got it to whole plate. That’s how I break it down. It’s all about throwing strikes. Maybe that was that one was called a little up on the in the strike zone, but so many people can bounce it and that is the worst thing for Gubby. That was the best case scenario that ball in the air right there. He get to that in the ground. Gooby might have crumbled there at home plate. You’re absolutely right. I think for both of them for Mitch the MIJ to get it to home plate for Gooby not to buckle uh not to get hit in the kneecap. Erica Weston coming over. I think it might be a special moment to have Mitch Reinhardt join us on set. Oh, he’s got to really talk about it and wait till his blood pressure drops a little bit. He is geeked up right now, I’m sure. I have a question for you, Mark Langston. Listen, you were one of the games alltime greats. Uh you were a fantastic pitcher. Can Can I have a Do you have a story of when you threw out a first pitch and how did it go? Of course. Well, I did it here at the Big A. I forget the celebration they had. Uh, and my buddy Donnie Cromwell, who was a former air supply and Eddie Money bass player, uh, he was going to catch me. He goes, “Hey, you want to throw some before?” I go, “Donnie, just relax. Sit back there. I’ll take it from here. I’ll get it to home plate.” And right before we went out, they put this Letterman jacket on me. And I went, “Uhoh, this is a little conscripting here.” Uh, and I got out there and I went to throw and I got about my arm just about ready to release and I went, “I’m in big trouble here. I don’t have enough behind us and airme it to the back on the ground all the way to the back stop. My poor guy Donnie Cromwell didn’t know what to do. He was just staring at it. My goodness. And I came off the field and certainly uh so buried me and he told Donnie Cromwell, “You had no shot at that one.” Well, the pitch was not the one that you love. But chances, that’s all you’re looking for, Langanger, is chances. Mitch Reinhardt joins us right now. One of the all-time greats. I thought you did a great job. Did you really? I really thought you did. What was the speed on that? Uh, it was 14 miles per hour. 14? I think it’s more like 18. That’s the best I could do with a sweeper. It actually slow gun. There’s a reason I’m typing, not playing. All right. The gun didn’t actually recognize how fast it was, it turns out. But if we could build a stat cast on that, how would you like to design it? Well, I felt I tried to put a little bit of a spin rate on it. Can we do uh, you know, I’d say 2,00 2,000. Okay. 2,000 numbers up. That’s right. Let me get back to the truck and hype that up. Okay, here’s the replay. There you go. That was a shot push. That’s what I said. That’s what I said. I said it got to home plate. That’s the most important thing. Thank you. And you saved Gooby in the dirt. You would have Oh, look at the leg coming up. The follow through. Uh, you know, the the Angels are on their way to Seattle. I have one of the great moments. All of us got together and then Mitch Reinhardt just a lead singer for some heavy metal rock and roll. One of the great alltime moments I will ever remember off the field with you. What are you looking forward to? Is this retirement for you? Well, I promise I won’t sing today and uh it’s not necessarily retirement. Um it’s I’m stepping down as the Angels graphics operator. I’ve been doing it since 1989 and man, what a ride it’s been. I can’t thank the Angels organization enough. U all the great broadcasters I’ve worked with, all my teammates on the crew, the coaches, the players. It’s been an amazing journey. It’s the next best thing to play in. It really is. I don’t know if we There’s the shot I was hoping we could get. We have Adam Chzkow and Grace Mcto and Matt Burch and uh they’re here in the Angels Communication and Blaine’s getting some photos right here this moment. This has to be special for you and your family right now. It’s very special and it’s Don’t make me cry, Patrick. It’s been very emotional and gosh, even the two of you, all the trips we took together and uh I’ll never forget it. It’s it’s been the journey of a lifetime. Who ever knew? 37 years. It’s it’s been amazing and I thank you both. Your wife is also here to take in the special moment. she’s filming this and um I know your daughter is somebody you’re going to get to spend some extra time with as well. Um we’re thrilled for you. We love you. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. There’s nothing better than getting on the bus and having that open seat and you would join me. Uh this guy will bring a smile to your face no matter what kind of day you’re having. You’re absolutely an inspiration to everybody. And he he can sing. I used to be my guitar on the road. There’s a few nights we uh spent some late nights in some room singing some songs. So he can sing. Ladies and gentlemen, the power stance is what I will never forget. Great job. Congratulations once again. We’re so proud of you. Thank you guys. I I do miss those bus rides, too. And uh really appreciate your your kind words. I miss sitting next to you on those uh on those planes. We had some we had the long flights. Those were some good ones. All right. Uh you were always working. Couldn’t get you to stop that. Mitch Reinhardt, everybody, we appreciate you and congratulations once again. Great job. Another look if we could of Mitch throwing out the first pitch here this afternoon. We got to get over the hump and he gets it done. hugging Mark Gooaz after throwing what we are now going to call a strike for the rest of history. More Angels live coming up next. [Music] Did he do it? Oh my goodness. What a play. An absolute beast unleashed. You are unbelievable. like rolling back. That’s life unlimited. That’s Spectrum. Oh, the Angels low affiliate. The Inland Empire 66ers had the best second half since becoming an Angels affiliate at 42 and 24. Last night, a 5-4 victory over Rancho Cucamonga in the playoffs to lead the best of three series, one- nothing. We saw Nick Rodriguez go three for four, go ahead riby in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie. Caleb ketchup. Caleb extra ketchup. Two for four triple. Three ribbies in the bullpen. Five innings pitch, three hits, zero runs, seven Ks. I tell you what, Langanger, that’s exciting. You told me how important it was for you in the minor leagues. Very cool for these guys. It’s great. You can’t win in the postseason without a good bullpen. Look at that. Five shutout innings for the bullpen last night. Fantastic. These guys won’t forget that. No matter where their career takes them, they will not forget that. Those are big moments and you want that up and down through the organization. you want their minor league affiliates winning obviously potential championship for the Sixers. Yeah, certainly. You know what? Listen, it was a tough year throughout uh the affiliates for the Angels, but the Inland Empire 66ers are somebody that we are going to root for to go all the way. Well done. Keep it going. Let’s close out Rancho Cukamonga. We’ve got the lineups. We’ve got Joe Adell back in. Stay right there. [Music] There’s certain players in every lineup that make the lineup go. Speed, power, he is a difference maker. Marte, he’s done it one more time. The best second base in the game. It’s Catel Marte. There goes Corbin. Just incredible speed. He wants to bury people. He just doesn’t want to beat you. He wants to drive you into the ground. [Applause] They’re tearing the cover off the ball. We play to win. We’ve played that way all year. I guess this is just another example of that. We know what’s in that locker room. We know the heart we have. The roar is back in Mottown. Right now in Major League Baseball, we have a new Tiger King owns this mound. Look at him walking off the mound. This guy’s a nightmare. This kid’s special. Doing it all. Riley Green saves the day. Does everything on the field, plays great defense, can steal bags. He’s a monster. If I’m on time, I know my swing is going to be in the best spot possible for me to hit the ball. Riley Greens. That’s the Tigers, baby. Before he was feared on the field. Rua Jr. was chasing wins on a different kind of field. For the Akunas, El baseball was a story told in fast balls and late night reatches. Here is the Angels lineup. So the first four in the lineup. Langer Trout 20 homers, Neto 25, Ward 30, Adele 35, Rhifo. Oh, that’s where it’s going to stop right there. Still though, pretty cool. Yeah, certainly. We saw it in last night’s game. The bottom side of the order kind of gets the top side of the order, feeds the top side. I look for Joe Adell. He’s on a run right now. He is locked in. Look for Joe Adele. Day game. You’re going to see some good fast balls from Taj Bradley here today. So, with that being said, they could get underneath it. Just a click, that ball will jump. Jose Urano is going to be the starter for the Angels and Soraniano pushed to tomorrow which we’ve talked about. How does he attack Bungston and the rest of his Twins lineup? Well, I think he got a little bit of a scattering report on uh how he was done last night with Kyle Hendricks. Even though stuff is different, it’s all about strike one. Get ahead on these guys. We saw that when Urania was able to come in for those five innings. He threw strikes and he was able to change off of that. So, look for him to do that here today. All right. Looking forward to the start here today and we certainly loved what we saw with Mitch Reinard throwing out the first pitch to Mark as he’s saying goodbye to his work in the Angels truck. The Los Angeles Angels look to finish off a series victory against the Minnesota Twins in the finale of this threeame series. Maybe Mitch Reinhardt will take them out today. Look at that beautiful first pitch right down the pipe to you. You know what? I think after further review of the ABS, we’ll say that was a strike. You know, Mitch was nervous that he would not throw the ball in the air there, but he got it. He got it there. Yeah, he had some good movement on the spin rate was pretty it was above average. So, it was a good pitch overall by Mitch. Stackcast approves alongside Mark Gubiz, Wayne Randazzo, and Gooby today. The Angels hoping to continue what they put into last night’s game. A great effort. Yeah, you know, Wayne, what they did yesterday with two outs. I mean, the approach was so much better making good contact. You know, there’s been some strikeouts a lot of times with runners in scoring position, but that was not the case last night. And the Angels were eight for 17 with runners in scoring position in the game last night. Those two out hits were a plenty. All 12 runs in the game scored with two outs. All 12. That’s amazing. Last time that happened was 1962 against the Twins at their ballpark. I think I was at Metropolitan Stadium at that point. But I mean, look at the job they did last night. A lot of singles. Eventually, they showed some power late in the game by that good contact, hitting the cutter well, hitting fast balls well, making good contact even with sliders. But it’s good to see, especially when you got Chris Taylor going yard, three-run home run there. Monado went a three-run shot himself. So, a lot of power there later in the game. But I love those swings, especially putting the ball in play, singles, using the entire field. The Angels got their offense going yesterday. And well, if you’re going to have a big rally more times than once in a game, you tend to have your leadoff man on base a lot in that ball game. And Mike Trout got on base three times yesterday. Scored three runs, leading it off. Incredible. Mike Trout the lead hitter last night, scoring a free run. The first time he has done that since he was rookie back in 2012. Couple base hits, a walk. Love the fact that he started to make some contact with the hands a little bit quicker to the baseball. So hopefully something magical today. But scoring those three runs, setting the tone from that leadoff spot. He’s back in that leadoff spot again this afternoon. The Angels will take their swings today against Taj Bradley, the former Tampa Bay Ray on the mound for the Twins. The Angels will start. Jos Orureno will be his first start with the ball club. The Angels pushing their rotation back a bit. Jose Soraniano will start tomorrow instead in Seattle. The Angels trying to take two out of three. Looking to peak against the Twins here in this series. Aaron Judge looking to do some damage. Oh, hey Captain. Oh my god. No fly zone so fast. Bobby Paul cannons legend. We did it. Yes. Oh, this is the best. I got it. Joseé Arena gets pressed into duty here today as he’ll make the spot start for the Angels and we’ll be Jose Soraniano going tomorrow night in Seattle. Probably better off for the Angels. Soraniano’s been so good on the road this year and it’s a big game as far as Seattle is concerned. A big series for them this weekend. So yeah, why not press Soraniano, your best guy, into that big moment there at T-Mobile. That atmosphere is going to be incredible just to give him what it’s going to feel like hopefully in the future for the Halos as they have games like that, the meaningful games and and the energy level you’re going to see at a ballpark up in Seattle. It’s going to be fun to see Sorano going against them tomorrow. A lot of their hitters are swinging the bat really, really well. It makes all the sense to have Soraniano in that type of game and that type of atmosphere tomorrow night against the Mariners in the start of a four game series with a lot on the line for Seattle remaining in their schedule and the Angels will have a part of that. They’ll face the Astros at the end of the season. Maybe the Royals will still be in the race when they come here at the end of the year as well. So, here is the 33y old, although he’ll turn 34 here in a couple of days, Joseia on the mound. Oh, he’s triple H, too. He just spit the water out on his way to the mound. Oh yes. You got to love that little WWE. When you throw 94 to 98, you could be that guy. He’s got good stuff. Great change up split. Also throws a slider. And my go-tos for him to have this solid game. Like we saw that timeout in five innings. Great relief is that armside sinker for contact on the ground. He runs that one really well away and left. He’s in on the right. He’s a finish with that splitter. even that splitter change up combination. Show you the lineup for the Minnesota Twins here today. Roco Baldelli explains this time period as a discovery phase for the Twins. They’re trying to see what they have in guys like Austin Martin and Luke Keshaw and some of the others in their lineup. They know what they got with that guy at the top of the order though. Byron Buckton has really become an incredible player and when he’s healthy, he is as dynamic as anyone in this sport. So Buckton will get it started here today against the Angels on a beautiful afternoon ball game and the Nissan defense behind Urania today. He’s got to be ready to make some plays especially with that running fast ball throughout the whole game. Taylor Ward out in left field. Teodosio in center. Joeell back in the outfield in right field. Ponzo playing third base. Needto Renifo Davidson playing first. Rivero back behind the play. Did a great job yesterday with the professor on the mound. But Joe Adele back out there, you know, a couple last year, six defensive runs save, his 55th game out in right field, one outfield assist. It’s good to see Joe Adele back out in the field. It certainly is. And Adele will be in the number four spot in the order for the Angels here this afternoon. A perfectly clear day for baseball in Southern California. You know, it doesn’t make sense all the time, but I wish we had more day games here just because of how brilliant and beautiful it is here under the sunshine at Angel Stadium. And for José Aria, it’s time to play the game as he goes up against Byron Buckton. I see I see you working, Wayne. No balls in a strike on Buckton. Urania’s been around for a while. He came up as a part of the Marlins organization early in his career. And he was a regular starter for them at one time. He won 14 games for them in 2017 as he misses with ball one to Byron Buckton. He’s bounced around though a whole lot. since leaving the Marlins, including just this year alone. He’s been on five different teams, the Mets, the Blue Jays, the Dodgers, the Twins, and the Angels all this year as he gets ahead of Buckton one and two. But always intrigued when you watch him pitch his stuff. It plays. That’s why you have you have to be pretty good to have a chance to play with five different teams. And his fast ball still, like I said, he get up there 97 98, but his change up and splitter are so good. One and two the count on Buckton and a chopper foul. He’s never been a big strikeout guy. Even at his best and he had that 14 win season in 2017. Even then he didn’t get a lot of strikeouts. Why do you think that is? Part of it is because anytime you you run a lot of your pitches in the lower third, there’s a it’s more difficult time to strike out hitters on a sinker ball pitcher and he’s more of a soft contact towards the end of the back guy. One ball, two strikes as Buckton lays off that two and two the count. Urania certainly a veteran presence and a guy at this time of the year when he needs some innings. He’s the right kind of guy to go to in a spot like this as Urania gets the start here today. And there is a strike out. Byron goes down swing. Got him on a slider there. Good late break to it. Just as for a strikeout, Wayne, you got it. Just because he doesn’t strike out many doesn’t mean he never gets strikeouts. And Buckton goes down on strikes for the first down. He’s got to get a little Triple H every other sentence in here for him. Austin Martin is the batter here. He looks at a high strike. Arinia was opening day starter at one point for the Marlins as well. He was fairly successful for the Rangers last year. Had a 380 erra. Even this year’s RA’s 360 just been bouncing around so much. He’s hard hardly been in one spot for very long. One of just three pitchers in major league history to be with five different teams in a season. Oliver Drake did it in 2018 and Mike Balman last year. Both spent time with the Angels as well as Mark Browns out. You know, everyone loves a Drake. Apparently not in 2018. Everybody was getting rid of him. Ball right there. That’s what you want to see from Urania the whole game is ground ball after ground ball. So two up, two down and Trevor Lick will be the batter. Arnick saw his modest hitting streak against the Angels come to an end yesterday. Twins saw their six-game winning streak against the Angels come to an end yesterday. And the Angels will try to win a series against Minnesota for the first time in a couple of years. try to get some momentum too in this game before you go to a four game set up in Seattle which is going to be a tough one but a fun one. It’ll be fun to be in that atmosphere for sure. We’ll see Soraniano against Bryce Miller tomorrow. Angels just kind of backing up their starters in terms of who pitches after that. Here’s a line drive. Neto lays out but couldn’t grab it. Base hit the other way for Lick. The first hit of the game. He hits the ball hard. He got that one by Zach Nettle on the dive. Not easy to get it by him. Sword is going to go away from you as a left-handed bat. Kind of a little slice to it. Just by him. We’ll see Kikuchi against Luis Castillo on Friday night. It’ll be Mitch Ferris and Brian Woo Saturday night and Kate and Dana against George Kirby Sunday afternoon. Be a good pitching match up. ball one to Keshaw who has established himself as a future everyday player for the Twins. That’s what they want to see from some of the others. Guys like Austin Martin and Edward Julian Brooks Lee. They want to see who they can rely on. Keshaw sends one toward the gap in left center. It’s going to get by Taylor Ward and one hop against the wall. Warnick gets to third. He’s being waved home. Neto’s got a shot. Throw to the plate and he got him. Great relay right there. Another tremendous relay, Zack Nettle. Nice job by Taylor Ward getting in quickly there, too. What a play. A beauty from Zack Neto on the relay home. And it’s Lick tagged out to end the first. [Music] Simpson Chevy gives you the Angels starting lineup with Mike Trout leading off as the DH again. This time Neto bat second and Taylor Ward third. Joeell’s back in there in the cleanup spot. Then it’s Reno at second base. PZO third. Logan Davidson gets a start at first. Rivero Teodosio at the bottom of the order with Taj Bradley on the mound for Minnesota. Ball one to Trout. Another guy, Taj Bradley, that you just feel like can break out at any moment. He just hasn’t yet. Yeah, and he’s got a real good lively fast ball though. It’s been hit this season. Trout with 20 home runs on the season. Nine of them have been in day games. We’ve talked a lot about the fact that he has not homered lately. August 6th, his last home run as he remains stuck two away from 400 in his career. He chased the ball in the dirt there. One ball, two strikes. Curve ball has been almost unhitable this season for Bradley. 081 batting average, 37 punch outs. Almost similar to the slider for Matthews last. Oh, they didn’t throw a lot of them early. Got hit on that cutter. Even in Bradley’s case, it’s his pitch. It’s the pitch he uses the least. Why? Exactly. I mean, especially doesn’t necessarily mean always go to it when you got two strikes. You could throw with a one strike count even if you’re behind because you get enough times to get hitters to chase it. One ball, two strikes here on Trout. Swinging a miss on the high fast ball for strike three. My go-tos to be successful and win this game, win this series. It’s going to have to be some good swings against Bradley here today. It’s up the middle on the cutter giving up some hits. 240 batting average, four home runs, but you got to power his fast. Me 301 batting average, but nine home runs allowed on his home on his fast ball. Brings up Zach Neto who hit second today. Yesterday he hit third and there was a couple of times in the game where Neto tried to sacrifice bunt with runners on first and second. One time he got the bunt down, the other time he didn’t. But it was interesting to see the number three battering so often as Neto swings and misses there. And I thought Ray Montgomery put it in an interesting way. He said, you know, in a situation like that, Neto’s trying to help the team. He’s trying to be selfless and think about what’s best for the big picture. So, he says, well, you you want to encourage him to swing the bat in those spots. You don’t want to discourage the fact that he’s trying to be a team play. Yeah, that’s the thing. I mean, he does everything to help a team win a game, whether it’s on the bases, we see it defensively, but also just trying to get guys into scoring position. The ball’s two strikes, but he’s a guy that could drive you in on the bases, though. That’s the thing you want him swinging, right? That is the thing is that you want him swinging the bat there. You want him driving in those runs and he should understand that. You know, Professor Chaos, he should know that it’s it’s time to bring the ruckus for to the opponent there. But ultimately, I think in Neto’s case when what Ray Montgomery was trying to say is that they don’t want him to be thinking, you know, beyond where the team should be. Then in any case, a player that is going about where the team goals should be that it’s a good thing ultimately even if it wasn’t necessarily the right play. Neto strikes out here and we’ll send it downstairs. Erica West Taylor Ward told me before the game today, he said for Neto, he should never bunt. He could easily hit a three-run homer. And personally, I think he should just swing it. But it was cool to see everybody come alive and put that many runs up when we’ve been getting beat like that. It was a good feeling. But Neto told Taylor Ward, “Hey, I’m just trying to give you some RBI, so I can’t really argue that either.” Yeah. Trying to get that 100 RBI. That’s a team guy. Right. Exactly. I agree with Taylor Ward. I don’t think Zach Neto should ever butt either. No. But it unless he’s butting for a hit with no one on. Exactly. But for the Angels standpoint, they’re saying, “Well, if the guy’s trying to be helpful, we’re going to let him.” Basically, one ball, one strike. But we’re also going to share with them just kind of swing the bat. Yeah. Swing the bat. So, here is You are Professor Chaos for a reason. Exactly. Taylor Ward has 96 RBI’s on the year. And he hits a high fly. We get to look up into that big blue sky here today. Royce Lewis has some company, but he makes the catch with the shortstop. Fitzgerald standing right underneath him. [Music] [Applause] [Applause] shut out innings for the professor Kyle Hendricks in the ball game yesterday and he really took us all to school come to find out before the game today that Kyle has been calling his own pitches for the majority of the season. He really dialed in on that going back to about June when the Angels were in New York playing the Yankees. He basically says uh he sees the swings, he reads them, and then just decides what he wants to do. So, he wears it on his glove and it’s pretty inconspicuous, but it’s not a surprise. Everything about what he has been doing out there is an example to some of the younger starters on the staff. Ray Montgomery said that his presence alone and the knowledge, the wisdom he can give them when he’s not pitching. and then you see it put into practice. But he just exemplifies the fact that if you make pitches, execute, are prepared and confident in what you’re doing. It doesn’t matter who you’re facing, the velocities. He also added that one of the things about Kyle from day one of a series, maybe he’s the third starter in that series. He’s in every meeting, every pitch between innings, every pitch thrown in the game, he’s involved for three days prior to the start. All the young guys, they see all of that work. I mean, the edges and the shadows he pitches with. 86 mph fast ball getting odd swings on the fast ball change up both sides of the plate mixing the curve ball but just went out there and attacked the strike zone and then the fielders behind him make good plays. He feels his position real well. Incredible his performance last night. The last three starts have been unreal. They really have. Three runs in those three starts and you know Hendrickx has been very reliable for this ball club this year. Weren’t sure what you were going to get from Hendrickx necessarily. You know, he’s had a great career, but started to seem like he was on the decline a little bit at the end of his time with the Cubs. But he’s been everything the Angels could have hoped for and then some, especially with the way he’s pitched here lately. And a coach at the same time, especially with these younger pitchers with, you know, those power fast balls, but when you’re behind in counts, falling behind, it doesn’t matter. But when you have control of the strike zone and your motion, you’re that much better. Nice play by PZA at third. back in his natural area over there on the left side of the infield. Arasa shows off why he can be a player for this team next year. And that baseball is down the line normally. That’s 105 miles per hour off the bat. Rocket makes the play with that strong throwing arm. Gathers himself. What a play that was. That pre- pitch jump that he does. Yep. Erica said they all do it, but I don’t think they all do it. Not as good as that. The hops. He has a real pre- pitch hop that he does and you know he’s been doing what the team has needed him to do in the absence of Shaunell. He’s played first base. He’s not a first baseman. He’s a short stop by trade. We just saw that hop again there even now he’s over at shortstop position basically. He’s that’s you know he’s a hopper but he is a really great infielder that in his natural position here more natural position at least can show off a little bit more. Look at that four seamer for Marine. 98 m an hour. He’s always had a good arm. It’s It’s It’s strange that he hasn’t been able to have better numbers in a more stable position over the years. One ball, two strikes on Mickey Gasper. Every time you look, you watch a rainy, you’re like, “This guy’s a serious pitcher.” But he keeps bouncing around. One ball, two strikes to cow Gasper behind the plate today. That’s in there at the bottom of the zone. Strike three. Oswald PZA takes us to the hop. There he goes. A great play on top of it. Adele said he was spinning even in the eighth inning on Sunday when he hit a ball into the warning track. Yeah, he crushed that ball. Just hit it high, too high. Really remarkable year has put together an 811 OPS, 35 homers, 94 RBI’s. Even the average at 243 on the surface, it’s still around league average at this point in time. Joe Adell was the American League player of the week for the first time in his career last week. Yeah, but those numbers he put together too for player of the week with five home runs and 12 RBI’s. One ball, two strikes on Adele. That’s a pretty nasty splitter, Bradley. Bradley’s got his stuff going today. hits this one hard, but the shorts stop. Fitzgerald in a good position in the hole. And Adele is the first down of the inning. And Hyundai key for the game today going Ariana Grande today. Brighter days ahead, especially in these day games like this. The bright sunshine, a chance to get this going. A little twoame win streak before going up to Seattle. fighter days ahead, especially with all these young players and some of the veterans putting together some solid at bats like we saw last night, especially with two outs. Luis Renifo takes ball one getting started second base once again here today with PZO playing third base. Y Monata not in the lineup on his day game against Taj Bradley who was traded from the Rays and that ball hit sharply as well but right at an infielder. A couple of hard hit outs here in the second inning. The Twins got a lot of players out of their bullpen trades and they went straight up for Bradley coming over from the Rays when Griffin Jax went to Tampa Bay. Jackson was pretty soughta and you know around the league general managers will say that the number one thing that you want is controllable starting pitching and I think that’s what the Twins were happy to get back and why they traded a pretty valuable arm in Griffin Jacks to get Taj Bradley. I mean he’s 24 years old. He’s a controllable young starting pitcher and he’s certainly got a great arm. Yeah, he does. I mean he’s got a number of swing and miss pitches. the ball’s two strikes on Parasa. So, if the Twins can unlock, you know, something in Bradley that can make him a viable rotation guy, well, see how it goes. He’s got three swing and miss pitches with over 25% width percentage. Balls in two strikes on PZA and a swing and a miss here ends the inning. So, Bradley with a couple of one, two, three innings to start. [Music] Your day in baseball starts with MLB Central. He had an interesting day yesterday. Look at that. Pitches, hits a home run, and he’s playing shortstop today. Yeah, he pitched in the bottom of the eighth inning. He only pitched yesterday, so he was the pitcher of part of the box score yesterday and then he hit a home run. And then, well, by the way, you’re playing shortstop today. Two balls and no strikes on Fitzgerald as he yanks this one to right field. It’s right at Joe Adell for the first out here in the third inning. But they they’re kind of holding Jim Cot to it. The Twins game notes here. It talks about Fitzgerald’s home run as a pitcher yesterday. Chris Jimenez hit a home run for the Twins after he had pitched in a game in September of 2018 against the Rangers. But Jimenez also caught in that game before that. So he didn’t just enter the game to pitch and then hit a home run the way Fitzgerald did. But the Twins game notes would like us to pass along that. Now first this one is a home run by the way for James Outman. That is his second home run of the series. Jumper on a first pitch and getting it out. Slider little flat get over slider hits out. It’s one- nothing Minnesota on Outman’s homer. The last actual Twins pitcher to homer was Jim Cot. They say just watching Outman over the year, especially when the Angels play the Dodgers a lot in spring training. Always was intrigued by Alman’s talent. Solid outfitter, good speed, ball will jump off his bat. This hasn’t been as consistent contact, but you can see right there how he was able to get down and get that slider. Hit it a long way out. Byron Buckton struck out his first time. Twins have a one- nothing lead now in the outman home run. Buckton with a fly ball to left center field. This one is hit pretty deep, but Teodosio has some room shy of the wall to make the catch. So, two away here in the inning. [Applause] You never know in a day game how the baseball could carry. Didn’t get quite the barrel to it. Nice play by Theodosio. Austin Martin at the play now. Two balls, no strikes. James Hman with a home run in this inning as the Twins get on the board. Angels have not had a base runner yet against Taj Bradley. Aria should have had to strike there. Three and0 the count now on right down the middle of the plate. This is the second appearance for Aria as an angel. He was used out of the bullpen last Friday for a long outing. It’s a strike there. Five scoreless innings, six strikeouts. Only allowed two hits in that game against the A’s in a game the Angels lost 10 to four. Three balls in one strike to count. That’s in there for strike two. So, Raina gets back in the count after that 200 pitch missed. Arinia lost him with ball four. So, it’s a two out walk. First free pass in this game. And the way they’re running, you can almost expect some movement right away. Mart with six stolen bases. Minnesota has 34 steals since August 12th, second most in the major leagues, only behind the Mets. Juan Sto getting his 30th stolen base yesterday. an unlikely 3030 candidate going into this year, but Sodto has apparently worked the system on how to steal bases at will. Yes. Even without great speed, Sodto has only been caught two or three times the whole year. It’s all about the art of reading pitchers and knowing their tendencies and which counts they’ll throw breaking pitches. He’s like almost automatic now. He just takes off and he gets there easily every time. So, he’s mastered that art at least this season. As much information as all players get, you know, base runners know exactly what the pitcher is going to throw in certain counts, there’s a good percentage of a chance that you guess right on that one. Two balls, no strikes on Lick. And there’s a line drive, base hit toward right. This one headed toward the line. Martin’s on his way to third base. Adele gets it in. They’ll hold Martin. Angels already threw one man out at the plate today. It was Lick who was thrown out then. This time he has a double. And the Twins have runners on second and third. Already got two hits already in this game. A single and a double. Good numbers in his career against the Angels. [Applause] That that relay from Ward to Neto was a little off the line, but it was a great play by Rivera to apply the tag on that out at home plate. You go back to that first inning, how well that was played. He was hit well. Taw to the wall. Mo gets it in quickly to Zach Neto who’s already turning his body and it’s up the line a little bit. But a quick tag by Rivera. That was an outstanding play all the way around. But look at that tag. How quick you got to catch and then dive back and apply a tag by Verbero. Another good solid play relay. We’ve seen that a number of times this season with Zack Neto being involved in that and Taylor Ward. Just get it in quickly to your cut off man. Good things happen. Now it’s Keshaw who had that double where Lick was thrown out at home to end the first inning. Twins have a one- nothing lead. Rea trying to keep Keshaw from adding to it. That’s another one that was borderline that went against Urania. One ball, no strikes. Another pretty good pitch, not called to strike. Way Bradley’s throwing. This is a big batter here for Iranian the Angels here now. [Applause] Raia just missing off the plate here. Three balls in one strike. for a good hitter. This is a good count for him to try to jump on a fast ball. Was a slider on the outside corner. So, it’s three and two. Kishaw, a rookie this year, lost some time, missed a couple of months after he was hit by a pitch by Kyle Hendris back in April. That’s ball four. So, Rea not quite able to place that fast ball trying to get that outside corner. two walks in the inning along with a homer and a double. Still has a chance here to at least avoid a big inning if he can retire Cody Clemens who grounded out his first time. A show of power for Clemens this season. He’s hit 16 home runs. Takes ball one here. Of course, the son of Roger Clemens, one of the great pitchers of all time, albeit not a Hall of Famer. Roger certainly with some historic numbers, including the seven Sung Young award. That’s seven Sai Youngs. Swinging a miss by Cody Clemens. One ball, one strike. You see with Clemen stance, he’s got that open stance. So, he’s still looking on the inner half of the play. That was a good change up that’s going away against him. So, he’s looking middle in. He’s got some power to that swing there. Trying to get by Clemens here to get out of this inning with just the one run allowed. There’s a fly ball to right into that sweet spot, but Clemens only able to loft it to Adele and Arania does avoid the big inning. [Music] Step up to the plate and get ready to play ball. And why wouldn’t it be? No. So, we’re rowdy Rodriguez was part of the Arizona Fall League rosters that were announced today. Several Angels prospects, including catching prospect Juan Flores as well. I like that one, too. I I know it’s tough to make comparison. They a lot like Pudge Rodriguez defensively. That’s high praise. There’s a diving stop by Clemens and Bradley over to cover as Davidson gets robbed of a base hit. Seven straight retired by Taj Bradley to start. He’s been pretty solid at first base. He’s got couple defensive runs saved at first base. Seven overall in his career as a first base. Good range. [Applause] One away. And now the batter Sebastian Rivero catching for a third straight day. Not seen Travis Darno in this series since Logan O’Happy was put on the concussion injured list. High strike once again not getting called much. One ball rather two balls, no strikes. Both those pitches could have easily been called strikes. Junior Valentine, the home plate umpire today. Is your hand all right after Mitch Reinhardt pitch? That was some serious movement on that pitch. This is trying to get a read on the spin rate on that one, too, because it had some spin. Three balls in a strike. Mitch threw out the first pitch. He’s retiring from our production after 37 years. He’s the best. Love him. Love you, Mitch. He’s one of all time greats. All time great. Three and two. This was it earlier. This was the big I think you put Would you give him the number one? Put give him the heater. Yes. There it was. This is slow motion, of course, but it was much faster. Oh, yeah. I think I’ve got that in the strike zone. He’s the best. That ball’s ripped and off the glove of Lewis. Kicks down to the left field line. Out of play. So, the Angels catch a break after that ball bounced away from Lewis. It bounced out of play and Rivero will get second base. Should be his second double this year off that glove in the backand. in scoring position. The Angels have their first hit today and now Teodosio will be the batter. Teodosio with a bunt base hit yesterday and the Angels were jumping up and down to see Teodosio get a successful bunt down. They really want that to be part of his game. And if it is that that batting average will jump up, I think 20 plus points for his ability to get bunts down with that speed he has. It’s not even in terms of batting average. You get more out of it in terms of moving runners along. Errors will be made. Corner infielders will play in. It’s a game changer if you can lay down those bunts. Here’s a fly ball toward the right field line. Lick is over and he makes the catch at foul ground. That gives Rivero a chance to tag out and he’ll make it third. Here’s another opportunity with two outs. Get a run in. We saw that all day yesterday. Tra will be the batter here. Tanosio took a bit of a spill rounding first base here. Caught in between getting to that bag. It’s one of those things where nobody noticed me. Did they? Well, if it weren’t for the cameras. those rascals. Here’s Trout who struck out his first time. Two outs with T with Rivero at third. Angels trying to get the run back after Minnesota scored in the top of the third on the homer by Alman with five wild pitches. He has that splitter. Zach Neto working his way into the right almost in the batters box right now. That was almost right behind home plate at this point. Trout late on that fast ball. Two and one. You see Trout struggle with velocity at times. Bradley just powering that fast right by him. It’s surprising that it you know that one with the curveball the pitch before although it is a swing and miss pitch. There it is again with the fast play. Two balls, two strikes the count on Trout. That one lined the base hit. Trout ties it up as Rivero scores. That was a hard fast ball. 99, but it was down in the zone and Trout was able to club it into left field. Yeah, that’s his wheelhouse. lower third and another base hit and run score with two outs. 102 off the bat for Trout. That was that good short swing there for Mike Trout. Good contact with the barrel on a power fast. Ties it right back up. Feel like if that ball was up in the zone, it might have been another swing and miss. But around the knees, that’s where Trout likes it. He hooked it into left field for a game tying hit. So Trout knocks in Rivero for the second time in this series and the Angels have evened up this score now one a piece. Way good base running too by Rivero to go to third base on that fly ball to right field. Put himself in position to score on that base hit for Trout and another two out RBI. We saw 12 yesterday in terms of the Angels scoring two out runs. A historic output of two out runs from the Halos in yesterday’s game and now their first run today is a two-out run. driven in by Trout. We’ve talked about it a few times here lately. Those extra bases taken, you know, they’re paying dividends. They don’t always, you know, sometimes a guy’s going to get stranded even after taking the extra base. But it is a lot different when you’re on the mound is when a guyy’s at second as compared to third. You’re more apt to not throw that wipe out pitch in the dirt. Although he did go out to travel with fast balls there, but even earlier in the sequence, he curveball was in the zone. It’s just worth mentioning whenever that happens and especially when it pays off and it did there. The more times you do it, the more times it will pay off. Two balls in a strike as Neto. It’s a drive left field. Hit pretty well. Martin’s back for it near the wall. It’s gone. Zack Neto cranks a two-run homer and the Angels with three more two out runs have taken the lead. Incredible the production with two outs. Professor Chaos 26th home run now 62 RBI’s. He goes, “What about a bunt?” No. Two-run shot. Taylor Ward, you were correct, sir. That’s exactly why Zack Neto has the ability to do exactly that. That so quickly. 108 miles hour off the bat. That was a firm fast ball. That was 98 hit out. Another home run against a fast ball against Bradley. That’s his 10th home run given up on his fast ball this year. That’s a hardy fast ball, but it’s a straight one, too. Bradley has kept the ball in the ballpark, more this year than he had in years past. Allowed 22 home runs last season. His rookie year, he gave up 23 in just 104 innings. So, it’s been a problem for him before. And he’s allowed a home run here today. Three runs, three hits in this inning. The balls in a strike now on Taylor Ward. Fast ball right in the heart of the plate and quick hands lifting out. He’s trying to be a little bit more shorter or direct to the baseball. Not getting too long in the swing, but that was a perfect swing to hit out. 26 home runs go along with 29 doubles, 25 stolen bases. Zack Netto phenomenal player. Taylor Ward cuts through that and it’s three and two. Mentioned it yesterday that Neto had not homered here at Angel Stadium since August 11th against the Dodgers. Pops one here as Taylor Ward flips one toward the right field line. That ends the inning with three runs all again with two outs. And it was Zach Neto with a two-run homer to give the Angels the lead. [Applause] Hey Chicago, what do you say? Cubs are going to win today. This is their chance to have another run. This is their time. This is the Cubs division to lose this year. They need to be singing the song quite a bit this year. That’s h Kyle Tucker. Welcome to the Cubs. He’s one of the most talented ball players. Crow Armstrong. What a stunner. Show to Imanaga. It’s about falling in love with him. Suzuki with a grand slam. This is when you put the pedal to the metal. I think we got a really good team. Catch up on all the baseball action with a triple play. Kevin Lar, Ryan Dempster, and Sierra Santos. Again, two out runs, 12 of them yesterday, three in the third inning today. And they have the lead with Royce Lewis leading off here in the fourth inning. Orange County product out of J Sarah. Lewis had the two homer game the other night. his first game playing in this ballpark. A big special moment for him and his family. Ball hard to first at bat. Pza made a great play on him. Ball, one strike. Feel like the best is still to come for Royce Lewis. Just can be healthy and productive over full seasons and you’ll see him be able to do what he’s meant to do on the baseball field. You’ve seen glimpses of it certainly in the last few years. Still just 26 years old, the former number one pick. Just watch where he has those hands up high, but he creates incredible bat speed. One ball, two strikes on Lewis. Says he considers Tory Hunter as such a mentor that he’s basically a second father to him. Sometimes Mike Trout will say the same thing for his days with the Halos. This ball hammered straight away center field. Teodosio though has some space and just before the track makes the catch even with the sunglasses on. Not an easy play for Teodosio. But he retires Lewis. One out. It’s an exceptional afternoon. You walked out onto the field before the game today and you go, “Wow, this is what it’s supposed to be like.” It’s what uh Lewis says. You go all around the country when you go back. There’s nothing better than being here in Southern California. It’s an inside out swing and a bouncer that PZA handles despite some funny spin. Casper was hustling, but PZA with a strong throw. Got him. Two outs here in the fourth inning. It is a spectacular day here today. Haven’t looked at the weather in Seattle or Milwaukee because they got roofs so it doesn’t really matter. But I don’t know if it’ll be like this in either of those. I’m pretty sure. I’ll check for you. I’ll be your weatherman for five minutes here. Seattle, you do have to pay a little bit of attention because even though there’s a roof, you’re still kind of within the elements of the weather. You know, they’ve covered the field with the roof, but they don’t really cover what the weather feels like outside because it’s pretty open in the back at T-Mobile Park. Like a pretty good pitch to and he’s missed some pitches again today. One ball, no strikes. Whereas Milwaukee is completely roofed and you don’t have to worry about whatever is happening outside in Wisconsin. So you didn’t get a chance to experience the old stadium there? County Stadium. Yes. No, I never, by the way, being there in April was uh that was quite comfortable. I went to Wrigley and Kamiski plenty in April and experienced that. Couldn’t have been that much different. Well, it was this I mean I always struggled to ever wear sleeves when I pitched. I think I thought about at least when I was there one time. Three balls, no strikes on Fitzgerald who lined out his first time. James Outman who’s on deck. Gets that one in there. Has walked a couple of hitters. He has thrown almost as many pitches out of the zone is in it or at least called balls, not necessarily out of the zone. Good pitch there on a change up. Then you go back to yesterday with Kyle Hendricks. what he threw like about three or four pitches out of his own in the first three innings combined it seemed like yesterday. Six balls through four innings yesterday. Two out walk here, especially with a guy that’s had some pretty good swings in this series so far. Even though the batting average, it is what it is, but he’s hit some baseballs hard so far in the series. James Outman takes ball one. Two out walk here with Fitzgerald aboard. Outman homered his last time. He’s hit two home runs in this series. Another guy who’s kind of tantalizing in terms of his talent, his skill set. Twins are hoping that they can just get more out of James Outman. And what the Dodgers did, check swing foul. He had one really good year with the Dodgers. He was third in rookie of the year voting just two years ago. Hard to believe when you watched him then and you see him now that he was traded straight up for a reliever, Brock Stewart. is what the Dodgers got moving out into Minnesota. Two balls and one strike. Buckton waiting on deck. Here’s the guy you want to get if you’re Iran. You keep that lead. Put up a shut down inning. Definitely don’t want to have to deal with Buckton in this kind of spot. That’s three balls in one strike. [Applause] Three walks in the game for Rea today. Backto back two out walks here will give Buckton a chance to do some damage. Buckton fly to center his first time. as Barry Enright will go to the mound here. Talked about it a little bit yesterday with Buckton that he has not grounded into a double play this year and that he has not been caught stealing. So, we looked it up going back to 1940. How many guys have played 110 games without a double play and without a caught stealing? And we only found a few. Now, one guy didn’t even try to attempt a steal, so he doesn’t he doesn’t count. I crossed him off. So, we only found two others. Joey Gallow had 19 homers and three stolen bases in 2022 without a double play and without being caught stealing. Phil Gosselin for the Diamondbacks only had two homers and had three stolen bases. So, no one going back 85 years of looking this up has come close to Byron Buckton’s 30 homers and 22 stolen bases with no caught stealings and no double plays. Wow. Again, when he’s on the field, there’s not many players better than Buckton. Great outfielder. Power and speed. There’s a strike to Buckton. So, it would truly be a historic season for Buckton if he goes the distance. And he’s almost there without a double play and without being caught stealing for the season in addition to his number of homers and steals. [Music] looked like it got him. Buckton was hit by that pitch. So that will load the bases and Urinia losing his command here. Check this to make sure. I looked like it got him. It’ll be Austin Martin at the plate as Fitzgerald moves up to third base and Outman moves up to second. Now, if they were a tag team, they could do that trick where one falls out of the ring and the other comes in, nobody would notice. Well, they are the twins and uh every time they can walk the batters box, I’m like, “Wait a minute, didn’t he just walk?” Oh, no. He’s in the batter. No, he just walk. That was a twin peak at Fitzgerald and Out. Here’s a strike to Austin Martin who walked his last time. So, Rainey now has walked four and hit a batter in the last two innings. The Angels will get to their bullpen sooner than later here with Andrew Chaffin warming up. We have Lick the lefty on deck. One ball, one strike on Martin. Angels took the lead with three two out runs in the third inning. See that front shoulder opening up a little quick rear rainy. That’s why you’re pulling off to that outside part of the plate. Two balls, two strikes on Martin Urania trying to leave the bases loaded here as he did in the third inning. Can’t quite get him to chase that slider off the plate. Probably going to have to challenge him with a fast ball here. Two and two. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Back to that slider. A better one for the punch out. Huge punch out. Shut down inning for Urania. [Music] Every game night is a chance to go big with MLB Big Innings Grandam. [Applause] Taylor Ward part of our Kia player profile today along with Joe Adele teammates with 90 plus RBI’s in the majors this year. Ward and Adele joining Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez along with Pete Alonzo and Juan Sto for the Mets. By the way, how hot has Julio Rodriguez been late? He’s got 30 bombs now. Yeah, we are definitely in full second half Julio at this point. [Applause] Two balls, no strikes on Joe Adele, Renipo and then PZA do up here in the fourth inning. Adele with 35 home runs on the year. He’s driven in 94. He’s fourth in the American League in home runs and he yanks this one foul. last 20 games especially has been rolling 10 home runs for Adele, but 35 is a big number. 40 would be an even bigger one. He would pass everybody on that list except for Trout. We know he likes to hit the ball up against Seattle in Seattle, too. And they got a few games at Coors Field coming up, too. See Reggie Jackson and Vladimir Guerrero. Pretty good company at the top of the list with Trout. Three Hall of Famers up there and Daddy Wags on there. Leon Wagner, Bobby Bonds, and great Garrett Anderson. Three and one on Adele. Pop up here to shallow right. Just missed that one, too. Keshaw on the outfield grass for the catch. One away. You see Raleigh chasing some history this weekend as he has 53 home runs entering today’s play. He’s only one behind Mickey Manel for the most ever by a switch hitter in a single season. He’ll have his eyes on that mark tonight against the Cardinals and also throughout the weekend against the Angels. A switch hitter and a catcher putting up those numbers. The switch hitting record and the catching record all in one season for Raleigh with just one more home run to tie Manel in two to beat him. An incredible year for Cal Raleigh and a legitimate chance at being the American League MVP. I think he should be. Luis Renifo takes ball two. You know, you look at war and it’s hard to just judge a catcher based on war. It’s never been a number that’s kind to catchers. Even the greatest catchers of all time do not have high wars. So, his war is going to be less than judge. His OPS is going to be less than judge. But you shouldn’t just judge the MVP based on those two numbers. Not when you think about the wear and tear you put on the body behind the plate and how good of a job you do framing pitches, working with a pitching staff and then putting up numbers and playing a lot of the games in that ballpark, too. Yeah. And he catches so often as well. He’s he’s not just catching two or three days a week. He’s back there about five days a week. A strike to Renhifo. I think when you put it all in a blender, I I hope Raleigh gets the votes that he should and that it’s not just based on some of the modern offensive numbers that tend to skew these things because it’s not all the same when it comes to a catcher and when it comes to Aaron Judge. Yeah. Also, when you think about Aaron Judge, incredible career he has had since he really didn’t really get it going till what 26 27 years old. Pass Yogi Barrow and home run list the Yankees yesterday. I mean, that’s amazing what he has done. He’s right behind Deaggio, too. Yeah, he’s he was he was pretty good, too. He strikes out two away. This baseball season, besides there’s a lot of good pennet races still going on, there’s been a lot of historic things that occurred this baseball season. We’ve seen three four homer games this year, which has never happened before. Was that one year, 2012, I think, where there were three perfect games in one year. Really an anomaly considering how many perfect games and four homer games there have been in major league history. There’s a one hopper the other way as Keshaw runs it down and slings it to throw out PZ. [Music] I’m Jesse’s uncertainty and I really thought house projects were my time to shine. Minnesota has left six in the last two innings and seven total. So now this 3-1 lead is in the hands of the Angels bullpen. It’s Andrew Chap and he’s going in for his 42nd game as a halo. Chapen will face Trevor Lick to lead things off. Lick had a couple of hits against including a single and a double. That’s nine innings pitch for Urania for the Angels. One earned run. He’s on the tight rope a little bit today but was able to survive it and the Angels now will let their bullpen do the rest of the work today. A fairly rested bullpen for the most part. Haven’t seen a lot of them in this series because games have been out of hand both in the Angels favor and not as Lick swings and misses. So in a close game, the Angels should have a lot of their top relievers available to go to the finish line here this afternoon. You can always hear that grunt for Chaffen all the way up here between him and Brock Berg. One ball, one strike on Lik. Luke Keshaw is on deck. Then Clemens here in the fifth inning. Two balls in a strike. Yesterday was the anniversary of Robin Y getting his 30,000th major league hit. And it’s hard to think about Robin Y without thinking about another guy with 3,000 hits. A lot more than that even, Paul Moler, who is here this week broadcasting the Twins games on their radio station. Talk about a pure hitter. Highly underrated. Even with the incredible numbers that he put up, you don’t think about Molader as much in the way you think about some of the great great players of the previous eras cuz he didn’t hit a lot of home runs. Swing and a miss by Lick, but he had over 3,300 career hits. Actually worked at the TV broadcast over there today and simal casting today. Three and two is the count on LN. I he was a phenomenal hitter. Just phen I mean you think about early in his career he had some hamstring problems where he even had more hits in his career. Full count and there’s ball four. We talked about Rod Peru yesterday reaching 3,000 hits against his former team the Twins. And there it is getting it done right there against Frank Viola 1985. Sweet music gives up 3,000. You look at the similarities between the 30,000 hit by Rod Karu and Albert Ples. Both went the other way so well. Some yelling from the Angels dugout and somebody’s been ejected here. Now Ryan Goens is the one coming out of the dugout. The bench coach appears he’s been the one knocked out of here. A lot of questionable calls today from the home plate umpire Junior Valentine [Applause] and the Angels apparently had enough. So Ryan Goowens has apparently been ejected. There’s a ball in the dirt. picks up the third baseline and it’ll put Lick on second base. A wild pitch. 20th game of his career, Chief against the Twins. [Music] Two balls, no strikes on Keshaw. Paul Molader has 11th all time in hits right now. 3,319. He was knocked out of the top 10 by Derek Jeter and Albert Puhol. a pure hitter and a true Hall of Famer in Paul Molader. World champ also was on the Blue Jays when they won their second championship in 1993. There’s a liner and it’s caught by Reno. No, it wasn’t. He dropped it. So Renifo it looked like got caught there thinking about a double play before he secured the first out. Yeah, you got to look that into the glove first and foremost. So line drive behind second base and he might have just taken his eye off it because he also had a play in front of him on Lick had he caught that ball. [Applause] So an error on Renifo. Now runners on first and second for Cody Clemens. Lick’s at second base. Khaw’s at first. Pretty good speed on the bases for the Twins also the way they run. Roza well off the bag. So he would have to run back quickly to the bag in case Arnick would go. Does help out with a left-handed batter at the plate. A little clear path to throw for Rivero. One ball, two strikes on Clemens. mean getting ready. Bounce behind first. Davidson picks it. It is a foul ball. Davidson was looking to second base there. Not sure if he would have had a play had that state fair. There’s a Fine getting up in that Angels bullpin. Shaw runs. That would have been a dangerous throw. He’s almost think about taking the out at first base. Texas leads Milwaukee 6-3 there in the ninth inning. Rangers trying to sweep the Brewers. Team with the best record in baseball. Milwaukee with 89 wins. The Rangers desperately needing wins. Seven games over 500. Out of nowhere. Swinging a miss, strike three. Good pitch there. Big punch out for Chase. Good slider down and away. Shane, they’re going out to make sure he’s healthy. He’s waving the staff back. J doesn’t seem like a guy who wants to spend much time with the trainers. No. Oh, not at all. Barrett Marie Montgomery and one of the trainers, Eric Ma. Now looks like Jaffin will stay in for now. Royce Lewis do up here. Jaffin has faced his three batter minimum. Lewis has flyed out and grounded out today. Texas, you know, they’re right there as far as both the wild card and the West. Rangers enter today’s play just a game and a half behind Seattle and two and a half behind Houston. They still have a chance for both the division and a wild card and they also have a chance to not make it at all. They’re on the outside looking in right now. Could be a wild finish for the Rangers. A lot of credit though really when you think about having your your second baseman and shortstop being out among others. Evaldi and Dolis Garcia and so on. You see what Lewis has done in his home state, including a couple home runs in this series. He’s out in front of that one. It’s one ball, one strike. Arizona leads the Giants today 5 nothing. That game’s in the sixth inning. San Francisco has played extremely well, but any loss feels like a backb breakaker right now as they’re still trying to catch the mens. answer in Philly later. That’s fouled down third base side. One ball, two strikes on Lewis out in front of that slider and Lewis was upset cuz that was down the heart of the plate. Thing was that was about a 78 mph slider. So he was out in front just enough to pull a foul. A chance either to drop that sinker going down and away or that sharp slider down and in. Swing and a foul tip. Strike three. Great spot. Still work to do. Tough hitter to get a punch out on, too. A little harder slider. So, after the walk and the error, Chaffen has recorded back-to-back strikeouts. Now, Gasper turns around right-handed here. He’s 0 for two today. Minnesota so far in this game 0 for five with runners in scoring position. They have left seven men on base already. Two more out there right now with nobody out to start the inning. Now they’re still there with two outs. Fly ball to shallow right. Adele has a long run in but he gets there and Andrew Chaffen escapes trouble. Minnesota’s left eight in the last three innings [Music] right this second at some convenience store somewhere I’m thirsty someone really wants a soda but that same someone stuck between something with too much buzz or something way too boring. First pitch swinging Logan Davidson hits one high in the air right center. It’s pretty deep. It’s outman at the wall. He leaps and he caught it. He was fighting the sun, the wall, the warning track. The ball almost landed behind him and he made the catch. It’s all about getting to that wall first and foremost to be able to make that even though he had to go he had to go a long long way to get there. Shielding the sun and then reaches almost behind him and made a great catch on that one. Shield the sun with the sunglasses on then reaches back and just gets it just before that went off the wall off his glove. So if that goes off the glove wall and back to his glove, that’s a hit. Swinging a miss by Rivero. Some play by Alman. Additions not exactly easy to make that play. I love what Kyle Hendrick said about working with Sebastian Rivero last night, how comfortable he was behind the plate and how good a job they did together going seven shut out. balls. Two strikes on Rivero. Look comfortable back there certainly while getting this opportunity thanks to a hoppy on the IIL and Garno a bit banged up. Here’s a bouncer to third base. Lewis will get to show off his arm. Oh, and he did so. Quite a throw. Two outs. Angels have only had base runners in one inning, but they cashed them all in. Three runs scoring with two outs in the third. Otherwise, Tosh Bradley has not allowed a base runner in any of the other innings today. Rivero had that double and then Trout knocked him in with a base hit and Zach Neto hit a two-run homer. Been around the strike zone throughout. Coming in the game, he had 49 walks, 116 plus innings, but he’s been around the strike zone all day. On the other side, the Twins have had nothing but base runners in these last few innings, and they only have the one run on a solo homer. So, Minnesota has squandered all of their chances. They’re now 0 for six with nine men left on base. Runners in scoring position today. One ball, two strikes. Teodosio goes down to win the inning. Phenomenal. It’s just going to stay on for the rest of the year. This is good. You got to see it through it to the end. Yes. Jose Firmine in the game now as Fitzgerald takes ball two. Twins have had a lot of base runners here in the last few innings. They’ve been walked five times. There’s been a hit by a pitch. There’s been an error. Only two hits. Somehow they’ve left eight men on base in three innings where they’ve only had two hits. Getting a lot of free base runners. Although that strike zone not helping much either. It’s three and0. Yeah, I can understand why there’s been some upset people in that dugout missing a bunch. That one nowhere near. So Fitzgerald draws the walk. That’s another free pass in the Angels pitching staff. So who is Mitch Reinhardt anyway? Well, this is what he does. He provides graphics for Angels broadcast and he’s been doing it for 37 years. Nearly 4,000 games and 800 players covered. We appreciate all the hard work from Mitch. He said the first broadcast crew he worked with was Joel Meyers and Joe Tory. Wow. With the late great Ken Brett. So many over the years. Loved by everyone. He’s had to work with you for about time. Yeah. How you ran him out the door. He said he would have been around for 50 if it wasn’t for having to do 20 years next to you almost. I appreciate that. Maybe that’s why he was thinking about trying to bounce a baseball at me today. Yeah, he said he was to throw it as hard as he could. He gave you what he had. One ball, one strike on Outman. A swing and a miss. It’s one and two. Well, you know it’s a special day when you bust out the blue glove. Oh, yes. Had to pulled it off one of your Halloween decorations and made your way here today. Two and two on Outman. [Music] Alman homerred earlier for the only Minnesota run. Walked his last time. Takes ball three. So strike zone has been a challenge today. Imagine he might be going here too [Applause] where they’ve been running the bases. I mean thinking along those lines throwing to first. Three and two is the count. Big lead over there at first for Fitzgerald. Not running though as Alman strikes out. Little tie slider. [Applause] One away and it’ll be Buckton after a drive with Hyundai. Charge up to 178 miles in just 15 minutes. How it should be. [Applause] has reached 30 homers and 20 steals this year. He’s just the second Minnesota Twin ever do that. Joining Kirby Pucket. Buckton’s healthy. He can perform at an extremely high level. Swings and misses here though on that slider. Very important to keep that slider down and off the plate away. He’s got great power. You throw that slider in the strike zone. Runner going and Buckton hammers one to right. It’s Adele back for it and that ball will sail right on out. Byron Buckton shows off his power. He crushed that home run to the opposite field. The Twins tie it up as finally a walk gets paid for here by the Angels. 104 off the bat. Fast ball out over the plate. That was way upstairs. That’s Mark Trumbo like power on an elevated fastball, but he was looking away. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] just barreled it and sent it pack and ball was crushed. Here’s a fly ball to left center from Martin. Hit fairly deep, but Teodosio has some room near the track now on it for the second half. Six walks and a hit batsman. That’s the first one to come around and score for the Twins in this game. But how good is Iron boxing there? 31 home runs on the season now. 76 RBI’s, seven triples, 18 doubles, 22 bags stolen. Just has to play. Yep. This is his most games played in a season since 2017. Just never been healthy. And that is strong to go the other way like he did on a high fast. Was about a 98 mph fast. That’s That’s like a lefty pull hitter power where he put that as an opposite field shot. This game is tied here. Three apiece. Lick’s been on base three times in this game as he looks at strike two. That 98 down, 99 down, he went down and hit it hard for an RBI single. You can always say Mike Trout doesn’t miss many pitches that lower third. He’s been dominant on that pitch for his entire career, whether it’s a breakable ball or fast ball. It’s generally hit hard, the lower third. As far as hitting a pitch 98 miles an hour or faster this year, it was his third hit on a ball like that this season. key was it was down in the zone that one way upstairs and it’s two and0. Now you get to a point where Trout can try to start a rally. Has scored a lot of runs in the number one spot in the order these last couple of days. He has scored four times batting first and he has a three and0 count in his favor here as the Angels look to get the lead back after Buckton homerred to tie the game in the top of the sixth. much as you need that base runner. I’d love to see Trout swing away here. 3 0 a high strike. We have not seen a lot of those cold today. That’s the right take on that. We just showed you know how difficult it is to hit from that baseball at 98 upstairs. Good take on that three 0. Three balls in a strike now. Trout does take ball four. You kind of see it coming with Bradley missing on those first couple and Trout’s patience paying off again. It’s a leadoff walk here in the six. Zach Neto our top tier play to 97 98 mph fast lined out. Take a look at our stack. 3D powered by Google Cloud 108.2 off the bat. Jango 25° Texas 62. So it was in on the line. It got out quickly. 384 ft. Breaking ball strike. That was the 11th homer for Neto since the beginning of August. You throw in his eight doubles, he’s one of just three players in the majors with both eight doubles and 11 homers since then along with Pete Alonzo and Shay Langalers. Curveball lands again. This time more in the zone and it’s 0 and two on Neto with Trout at first. See with two strikes see if Neto shortens up. There’s a lot of room there with Trout being held on by Clemens at first base in that right side. Edo has 26 home runs now in the year. Four away from 30. He needs five more steels to get to 30 as well. It’s not out of reach for a 3030 year. It’s this one in the air to left center field. It’s carrying. It’s Alman back warning track to the wall and he caught it at the top of the fence. Trout’s hustling back to first and the long throw is not in time. Oh, what a play. It’s two great plays by Alman out in center. How he brought that one back. Wow. Just kept going and going and going. Might not have went out. Might have bounced back in play. But what a swing that was for Nettle with two strikes on him and controlled twice. Now he’s controlled the baseball going against the wall. Fighting the sun, too. Not easy. That ball might have stayed in and also might have hit the wall and bounced out, but an extra base hit certainly was robbed there by Outman. And Trout had to really hustle back as Outman throw all the way in toward first base. That was a close play, too. Strike to Taylor Warren. Taj Bradley. Since joining the Twins, he’s got a couple of rough outnings against the White Sox. He did pitch well against the Padres’s on August 30th. Not one run in five innings. Today, he’s given up three hits, but three runs in five and a third. Made a couple good plays out in right center and left center for him. He’s a solid player. Alman has a chance to be a really good player, I think. [Applause] One ball, one strike on Taylor Ward. This is Bradley’s longest outing so far as a Twin. That’s two balls in a strike. A high fast ball missed. Byron Buckton took a hack at the high fast and hit it out. Last inning, it was the highest hardest pitch hit out of the ballpark in the Statcast era. A pitch that high, it had the hardest velocity on a home run. Ward with a looper to left center field. That’s a base hit. Trout read it well. He’s on his way to third. He’ll make it. That’s great base running. That’s Mike Trout. Vintage Mike Trout. Read that down. Goes all the way to third. It’s going to be a tough throw. Martin out in left center field. He’s going to have to try to get behind the baseball, make the throw, but Trout already. Cuts that corner as well as anybody gets to that base and right away that direct line to third base like a video game. You if you play a baseball video game, you have that little diagram where it shows you the runners and they’re all cutting the bases perfectly. That’s Mike Trout running the base. We saw that a couple years ago in spring training where they did that they colored the corners of the bases this the Mike Trout way to go base to base cut the the distance and be direct to the bag. Angels with a chance to take the lead. The Twins having a meeting on the mound and aren’t getting hungry. So we’ll hear from Jack in the Box. My spicy chicken strips are back now with hot honey and starting at 550. Welcome to Jack in the Box. Joe Adell has a chance to give the Angels the lead and add to his growing RBI total now at 94 for the year. The Rangers did win their game today. They beat Milwaukee 6-3. The Brewers swept for the first time since they lost their first three in a row to start the year against the Yankees. Remember they gave up all those runs in that series. Oh yes. By the way, speaking of runs on the first pitch, Joe Delis really good hitting the ball a long way on the first pitch. See if he gets one to hit against Taj Bradley. The Angels looking for the lead back. Bradley dropped a curve. Yeah, it was a good decision. But 16 home runs with the first pitch play for Joe Adell. One ball, no strikes. Angels still with a golden chance here to take the lead. It’s two and0 on Adele. Trouts at third base. Ward at first. Trying to win this series. They’d make it a 500 home stand if they can pull off the win today. Lost two out of three against the A’s. Trying to win two out of three against Minnesota. They were 500 on their last road trip as well. So playing about 500 ball for the last few weeks. Ground ball to short. Flipped to second for one. Throw to first. It is in time. The Twins turn. [Applause] Angels will take off to Seattle after the game today and they’ll get right into that AL wildard race and the AL West race that Seattle is entrenched in. Big four game series for the Mariners as they host the Angels. Then the Angels go to Milwaukee. They’ll see the team with the best record in baseball. Pat Murphy’s Brewers and the road trip will end. The last road series of the season in Colorado against the team that has lost the most games in the major leagues, the Rockies. Angels will then return home for the final six games hosting Kansas City and Houston to put a bow on this 2025 season. Houston only leading the Mariners by one game. Now the Astros might be playing for the division. They might be playing for the wild card. They might be playing for a postseason birth period in that final weekend. Could it be really interesting those last three days against Houston Angels have ended the last couple of years against teams that have not been in the playoff race. So be a different flavor here with the Astros potentially fighting for their lives at that point in the final weekend. Luke Keshaw is the batter here in the seventh inning. A double a walk and he’s reached on an error facing the veteran Luis Garcia. Inside out, bouncer to first. Davidson handles that and beats Keshaw to the bag. One away here in the seventh inning. Our Spectrum seventh inning stretch is coming up. Davidson’s been putting in a lot of work with Ryan Goens over the last number of days since he’s arrived and he’s been able to make some plays today. Yeah, just constantly working on keep getting that baseball out in front. Those hands moving forward and not letting that last hop get him. Cody Clemens takes ball one. Good splitter there. And you can see that swing for Clemens. He’s looking to try to pull the baseball on the inner half and lift it. Clemen struck out his last time. Much lower scoring game for both teams. We saw a couple blowouts to start this series. Angels played a poor game on Monday and then followed it up yesterday with one of their better games all year. The last 15 runs the Angels have scored have been with two outs. There’s a strike to make it two and two. Barrow hang on to that. Yes, he did. Unless it hit the ground first. The Empire’s checking. Clemens thinks it hit the ground and now Looks like it’s a foul ball. Yeah, clearly hit the ground there in front of catcher mid of Rivero. So, it’s two balls, two strikes on Clemens here. Struck out his last time. Swinging a miss. There’s Garcia with that splitter punching out Clemens. Two down between his splitter and his sweeper. Really good swing and miss pitches for him. His return as a halo. The Angels gave up the lead before. Still have to feel like they’re in a good spot against this Minnesota team that has had trouble. They traded most of their bullpen. So, you have to find other guys to take over at that point. And it’s not always easy to do. Twins are on a current road trip where their bullpen erra is over six. Royce Lewis the batter here. He’s 0 for three today. Angels and Mariners will start that series in Seattle tomorrow night. Jose Soraniano was pushed back a day to make the start here or rather there in Seattle tomorrow and he’ll face Bryce Miller who’s not been able to put it together this year. Miller’s RA over five and a half. He’s had some struggles. So is George Kirby although we pitched an incredible game here earlier this year. See Kirby in the back part of that series. One ball, one strike on Lewis. still has a real solid fast ball. 97 Garcia. He certainly can still bring it despite getting into his upper 30s now. Breaking ball landed for a strike as well. One ball, two strikes. Steel’s done a nice job since coming back to the Angels. check swing but Lewis held up there. Two balls, two strikes. Angels will have Renifo Pasa and Davidson do it in the bottom of the seventh. About that Twins bullpin. Haven’t quite seen anybody yet. Looks like Bradley might go back out for the bottom of the seventh. Nobody is warming up right now in that bullpin. Lewis waves at that for strike three. Lis Garcia one, two, three inning. And we’ll have our Spectrum seventh inning stretch in a moment. [Music] Off base is coming in a brand new format. Did he do it? Oh my goodness. What a play. An absolute beast unleashed. You are unbelievable. Another big win for the Texas Rangers today. Jake Burgerer hit a couple of home runs. The Rangers taking care of business against the Brewers, winning all three games. So more pressure on the Mariners and the Astros. Both teams trying to hold off Texas as Ber’s two homer game lifted them to a 6-3 win over the Brewers today in Arlington. The Red Sox are in Sacramento as Shay Langalers and Nick Curts both homered for the A’s in that game. First time the A’s have had teammates reached 30 homers in a season since 2019. Right now the A’s are up four to three with that game in the bottom of the eighth inning. Nick Curts in his rookie year reaching 30. Another opposite. Yeah, I was just going to say it had to go to left field. We’re just waiting on there with a little little pause and he goes the other way again. His power is tremendous. That allows him to hit left-handed pitching that well. That’s 24 of his 30 homers that have been nonpulled for Nick Curts this year with Mark. I’m Wayne Randazzo here at Angel Stadium today and got a close one into the later innings. Yeah, it’s more run score with two outs for the Halos. Three more today, 12 yesterday. How about a couple runs early before even getting it out here this just for fun. Just for fun. Yeah, you don’t have to score with two outs. You can do it earlier in the inning if you’d like. Just for fun. That has been our Spectrum seventh inning stretch. So, the Angels trying to win this series and get going on some momentum to Seattle. Angels will not play the Rangers again, but they will have four games with the Mariners this weekend and then three games with Houston at the very end. So, they’ll have their hands in far as who will win the American League West. It’s been the Astros division for a long time. They have won every full season since 2017. And both the Mariners, who have not won the division since 2001, and the Rangers, who haven’t won the division in over a decade or roughly a decade, are trying to end those long Astros streaks of dominance. So far, Bradley, pretty efficient pitch count, too. Close to 90 pitches now. There you see it. Very close. One, two, three in the West. The Rangers were the last team to win the West before the Astros, at least in a full year. The A’s won it in the pandemic year, but whatever. Two balls, two strikes on Redo. [Applause] Good speed, too. He’s got nine stolen bases. Find a way to get on base here. struck out his last time. He’s 0 for two today. He takes ball threes. They tried to get him to go upstairs like he did last at bat. Twins do have their bullpen up now. Cole Sans is throwing as Reno slaps one foul. [Applause] Still a pretty firm fast ball there. Long look over there at the third base for PZA. Raza had three hits in the game yesterday. Able to swing the bat a little bit better as an Angel than he did before the trade when he was with New York. He only hit 152 as a Yankee. He entered today batting 241 with the Angels. Seen some impressive swings from him this year. Even against the Angels. He had a home run here earlier this year with the Yankees. A lot of stolen bases against Bradley. His three two have been caught pretty quick to the plate. Also throws 98 99 with his fast ball. Anything would be more of a hit and run you would put on a straight steel. The Angels have something in mind to get some movement here with Reno at first. Fast ball taken for a strike right down the middle. One ball, one strike. Still 98 from Bradley. Been nearing 100 pitches for the day. What? Overall, he’s been pretty impressive outside of the tough third inning. He’s been really, really good. Surprised the Rays gave him up. I mean, Griffin Jack certainly a very strong reliever. The Rays parting with a guy that you feel like he’s the type of guy they get the most out of. 24y old, strong armed, experienced even starting pitcher. He’s been around a little bit. This his third year. One ball, two strikes on PZA. Throw to first. Bradley was born in LA. His mom went to UCLA. He grew up in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He went to the same high school as Wally Joiner. I’m sure Wallally’s listening. And Mark Trumbo was checking in after we talked about him earlier. Wally joiner probably texts in soon. Redo is running and there’s pitch out of the zone. Throw to second. He saved. 10th stolen base. He didn’t quite get a great jump. He’s unable to apply that tag. Gets the hand in there. Stays connected with the base. Very least anything on the right side of the infield. Very important for PZA if not driving him in. Two and two. Check swing fouled back. So PZA hoping to at least move the runner here. Lead off walk. Stolen base. The Angels have a man in scoring position. Come on. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Round ball to the left side. That will not move the runner as Fitzgerald hurries his throw to get the outs. So PZA unable to advance Renhifo and that’s one away. Bradley did a nice job on that one by the way. Threw the ball inside. Doesn’t allow PZA necessarily to go the other way. After six and a third innings, Taj Bradley’s longest outing in more than a couple of months. Roco Baldelli will take the baseball. [Applause] Turn on baseball’s biggest game changer, MLB Big Inning. Out of here. Although a sinker curveball slider change ups to be some sort of discrepancy here with the lineup card. Junior Valentine the home plate umpire going over toward the Angels dugout after the umpires had a brief conference as Cole Sans enters the game here. Logan Davidson is due out. Whatever it is doesn’t seem to be a big deal. Angels with go-ahead rod in scoring position here. Reno the runner at second base after a walk and a steal was kept at second after ground. Taj Bradley looked pretty good for the most part today. Six and a third innings giving up three two out runs in the third. Remember the Angels scored all 12 of their runs with two outs last night. Sans spins one for ball one. The Twins relievers that stuck around few and far between, but Nicole Sans is one of them. He’s been on this ball club for the last few years now. Could see a cutter here. Demer is throwing in the Angels bullpen. It’s the eighth inning. See if this one gets around to Kenley Jansen for the top of the ninth as well. [Applause] Ground ball to the right side. Maybe one batter too late, but Reno does go to third with two outs as Davidson grounds out. That’s what the Angels needed in the previous atbat from Harza. Still a man closer now with Renipo hoping that Sebastian Rivero can drive him in. After playing a night game, back into a day game and hitting here now with two outs. Halo’s been good with two outs getting that run home. This has been their specialty over the last couple of days. [Applause] Swing and a miss by Rivero. And it’s one ball, one strike. That was that curveball. Got a lot more of the plate. You see the reaction by Rivera. Knew he had a pitch right there. One, two count. But it was curveball a lot along with his splitter. Travis Dardo have not seen in this series. Rivero catching all three of these games. One ball, two strikes. Fast ball fouled back. 96 there from Sans. So certainly Rivero happy to have the opportunity and looking to drive in this go-ahead run here. Seth does have three wild pitches. Wow. Seen those high strikes not be called most of the day. That’s a good pitch, too. You can’t hit the spot any better than that. Two balls, two strikes. The count pop up should end the inning. Keshaw is under it and makes the catch. The Angels leave the man in scoring position and it stays tied. [Music] Ever since Bob and Sheila retired, they’ve been looking for ways to spice up their dinner plans. [Music] I’m sure they enjoyed the first pitch that Mitch threw and they were going to watch it over and over. Yes. They’re all sending it to each other right now, I think. I think so. Nikki Gasper will lead off here in the eighth inning. New pitcher Reed Demmer’s trying to keep it three to three. Angel scored three runs in the third inning. Zach Neto hit a two-run homer. Twins have home runs from Outman and Buckton today. Trying to slip that RA for the season back under four. Arrow dropped that last pitch that should have been called a strike. Ordinarily see it catcher does not handle the ball cleanly. Two balls, one strike the count. Trying to get that first out here. Soft bouncer to third base. It’s PZA swinging it across for the out. One away. He’s got a smooth glove and throw over there at third base. Made a couple really solid plays defensively today there. Twins will go to their bench and Brooks Lee will bat for Fitzgerald here. Lee, who is B whose dad was a baseball coach at Calpali, was named after Brooks Robinson. Baseball family with Brooks Lee. What an incredible fielder he was at third base. One ball, one strike. When Brooks was growing up, he was catching bullpens and playing in scrimmages at Calpali as early as seventh grade. He was up against those college kids from a pretty young age. Certainly shaped his baseball life. He was a first round pick. He was eighth overall in 2022 out of Calpali. He’s have good power. 14 home runs this year. He’s a switch hitter and he waves through that. Two balls, two strikes. 912 coming up for the Halos. The bottom of the eighth as tries to put up a zero. It’s a fly ball to right. Should be handled by Joe Adell. Two up, two down as we see Trout and Neto in that bottom of the eighth inning. Coming up, Angels live postgame presented by OC Navigator. They’ll break down however it it ends up here this afternoon. James Outman do up here. He homered in the third inning which gave the Twins the lead. Coughed it up, but the Angels gave it back in the sixth when Byron Buckton hit that opposite field two-run homer on a very high fast ball. He’s the aggressive first pitch. Ball one to Outman. Buckton is on deck. Good idea to go that outside part of the plate. Little off the corner though. [Applause] Ranking ball falls in and it’s one ball, one strike. [Applause] Just missed and it’s two and one. Detmers has been very steady for the Angels working largely as a setup man in front of Kenley Jansen over the last few months now as Alman fouls that back and it’s two and two. 9295 with his fast. [Applause] 61st game. First year in the bullpen, 61 appearances for Demmer’s. Look at that nasty slider here. [Applause] Jal’s two strikes and a fly ball to center field. Sends Teodosio back. He’s got turned around and it ends up falling on the warning track for an extra base hit. So, we have not seen Teodosio really ever look lost on a play in the outfield, but he did there. It cost the Angels a couple of aces in a big spot. That slider just stayed up, but he was able to stay on that one. Hit 107 off the bat. Yeah, I’m wondering if velocity is down a little bit for Reed that Mercier. Mike Frostad is the head athletic trainer for the Angels and he’s on the mound with Detmers here along with Barry Enright and Ray Montgomery after that two out double by Outman on what looked like could have been the last out of the inning. Demers is down a couple miles an hour on his normal fast ball so far in this one and he’s going to come out of this game. So something down. I saw that in a couple 92 mph fast. Haven’t seen that all year. So it’s not something the Angels want to see as Reed Edmmer comes out and Robert Stevenson will face Buckton. Wearing regular shoes feels this cramped. A glideep wide fit. Angels trying to pull out a win late in this one. And Robert Stevenson, who was warming up, it looked like I don’t think he was fully ready, is being given as long as he needs to get loosened up after Reed Demer’s exited with an apparent injury. It’s frustrating to see that for Reed Deers because he’s been such a tremendous transition out of the bullpen. A big part high leverage situation throughout this entire season. Lee Deers has been tremendous. So James Outman at second base after his double. So we’ll see the Angels do have an option here to not even pitch to Buckston with Austin Martin behind him. We’ll see if that’s kind of would be surprised if you go after him. I mean put a tremendous speed on the bases though for the Twins. He’s the guy when you look at that lineup, he’s the guy you try to avoid in these spots. By far and away. The Red Sox did lose against the A’s today. Aldis Chapman who had not given up a hit since July allowed two hits in the bottom of the ninth and the A’s beat Boston 5 to four. Chapman had faced 50 consecutive hitters until he gave up two hits. Incredible. Incredible. Arizona still leads the Giants. It’s 52. That game’s in the ninth hood. Everything else will happen later. Although the evening games on the East Coast are about to start in a little bit at least. Buckton will be intentionally walked. So will bring Austin Martin to the plate against Stevenson here. Outman doubled beyond the reach of Teodosio. Got twisted up. The fly ball hit his way which could have ended the inning. We’re so used to seeing Tidosio catch everything even if it’s over the wall. Been that good out in the outfield. That was one of those baseballs. A hard one is hit that hard right at you as a center fielder. Probably the most difficult play to make. There’s strike two from Stevenson. So he’s ahead 0 and two in terms of outs above average. Teosio’s been the best in baseball since August 1st. Some serious companies up there with too that cover some ground. Kyle Isel from the Royals and Dalton Varsels. It really is Bell. We talked about it with Ray Montgomery about Teodosio bunting more because Isbel bunts a lot while playing a very good defensive center field. Blue and two swing and a miss. Strike three on a ball in the dirt. Rivero will get the out at first and Stevenson does the job. Angels will look to break the tie in the bottom of the eighth. Mike Trout’s do up. So is Zach Neto in a three-3 game. Turn on baseball’s biggest game changer. MLB Big Innings. Out of here. Experience live baseball in a whole new way with up to four games on a single screen. And Teodosio took a whack at the first pitch, fouling it back. Balls in a strike. And that’s that right side is so wide open for a push bunt, especially with Trout on deck. Fly ball center field struck pretty well. It’s out and back at the wall and it’s off the wall. It bounces away and there goes Toddosio. He’s on his way to third. He will be held there. It’s a lead off triple. Wow, that ball just kept going and going and going. It’s the second triple [Applause] short swing pitched down a cutter. Hal have hit the cutter really well. His glove is over the wall. Oh, but it’s been all over the place out there. Bryce Teodosio trying to lift the Angels to the lead here. Well, somebody just threw that glove back to Outman over the fence. I’m thinking I was wait I was thinking inside the Parker here. The way he was he’s just gliding around the bases. Twins grounded quickly enough to get it in and keep Teodosio from thinking about scoring there. Now he’s at third with nobody out. Here’s Mike Trout. Twins infield is in. That’s ball one to Trout who had an RBI single earlier. More than likely he’ll see a pitch or two inside here. Try to get in on the handle of the bad Trout. See how quick those hands could be to get to the barrel lifted. There’s a wide drive moving over Martin. slides to make the catch, but doio scores and the Angels have the lead in the eighth. Well, that’s those quick hands and that pitch was inside. Vintage Mike Trout quick hands getting the job done. Trouty big RBI. Toddio starts it with the triple. Trout gets the go-ahead RBI. Tremendous job of bringing his hands in on that baseball there. You know they’re going to pitch him in. Got that barrel out with the lead. And the franchise record streak of 16 consecutive runs with two outs comes to an end. That’s okay. Zach Neto is at the plate here. [Applause] Inside out swing and a drive toward right center. Racing to make the catch is Lick for the second out. And now a save situation starting to loom for Kenley Jansen. Go back to our Hyundai Key for the game today with Kenley Jansen getting ready to come in here in the bottom of the night. Brighter days ahead, especially Kenley been so good in these spots. Great job of getting that run home by Mike Troutosio tripled off the wall. Kind of unlucky day for Neto even though he hit that two-run home run. He got robbed at the wall and then that play right there the right center. Teodosio went from home to third in 11.69 seconds. He really started to burst after that ball fell in. He went from first to second in 3.34 seconds. It’s about how fast he went to those chicken tenders last night. Well, if they were 90 ft away, that would have gone even faster like Teodosia. Fly ball to left center field. Should end the inning. Bryce Teodosio with a strike. A triple off the wall in center. Mike Trout drives in the go ahead run and Kenley Jensen will try to keep a one-run lead. [Music] Your day in baseball starts with MLB Central. We live the biggest plays from every game with Abby Lavar on Quick Pitch. Late nights and early mornings on MLB Network. 4-3. The Angels have the lead again and Bryce Teodosio is right in the center of it as he tripled off the wall and scored on Mike Trout sack fly. How fast he got around there. A short swing. drives it to center field. That carry here in an afternoon game. Mike Tri getting the job done. You knew they were going to pound him in with fast balls and he was able to get that barrel out to line it. Get that go ahead run home. So now Kennley Jansen will try to hold a one-run lead here. Looking for his 474th major league save. Just a handful behind Lee Arthur Smith for the third most in major league history. And Jansen’s got some issue with the mound here. It’s either the rubber pitching rubber area or the landing area potentially. Twins will have Lick Kaw and Clemens do up here. They’re three, four, and five hitters. Jansen trying to catch Lee Smith for the third most saves in baseball history. Lee Smith had 37 for the Angels in 1995. And there he is in his beautiful California Angels uniform on the left side. The Hall of Fame closer. Certainly a strong case for Jansen to be joining Lee Smith, Mariano Rivera, Dennis Eckersley, Trevor Hoffman, Raleigh Fingers, Bruce Sudter, Billy Wagner as Hall of Fame closer. Definitely a lot of big saves in those postseason moments, too. And the goose. The goose. I don’t think I forgot anyone else. Maybe. As long as I didn’t forget the goose, that’s the most important. So Jansen on that pushoff spot there on the rubber. Trying to get a little bit better footing there. You don’t see that too often where you see it used to be a lot of pitchers would dig that hole by the pitching rubber, be able to push off it. See that all that often. So Jansen trying to get satisfied with the mound here. 283 erra. If you look back on Jansen to his last 31 appearances, his ERA is just 1.19. He has really had a terrific year. Cutter’s been outstanding. He’s mixed in that sinker. He rides that above the strike zone and he also will throw his slider. 11th game in his career versus the Twins. got three career saves against Minnesota. Jansen will face Lick leading off here. He’s been on base three times. Last time Jansen had a save against the Twins was all the way back in 2017. Now, a team he has seen a lot, mostly in the National League in his career, though he’s spent some time in Boston, too. Twins have left 11 men on base today. That has been a big reason, especially in the middle of the game. And they left eight men on base in a three inning span. Lick punches one left center field. Teodosio’s on the chase. Ward is there and Ward makes the catch. By Taylor Warding that baseball from a left-handed bat’s going to drip back towards him. Good communication, too. Theosio and Taylor Ward first big out, especially a guy with power and speed. Sounded good off the bat. 97 miles an hour. Not quite nailed but hit pretty well by Lick and one out as Keshaw will bat. He has been on base three times as well today. A double a walk and he reached on an error. Angels ahead four to three trying to win this series. And there is a strike. It was called late by Junior Valentine. Like it was almost like he made sure Rivero caught it before he called it. still has the ball up in the scoreboard, but that definitely was a strike. It was called a strike afterward. 0 and one. One bowl, one strike. Do change it on the board. So, all good in that regard. Cutter got in on the hands and Keshaw could only fight it foul. It’s one ball, two strikes. Next home game will be the beginning of their last week of the season, September 23rd against the Royals. Couple off days in that road trip as well, including one coming back from Colorado. Swing and a miss, strike three. Jensen punches out Kaw for the second half. 94 mph cut piece [Applause] by him. It’s amazing how hard that break is late at the plate. The 10th strikeout from an Angels pitcher today. There’s a strike. The Angels try to add yet another win to their total of the major league lead when trailing or tied after seven innings. They have 26 wins this year. They have 17 when trailing or tied after eight innings. Evans went around strike two, but this would be their 27th win. A franchise record when trailing or tied after seven innings this year, the most in the majors. and their 25th home comeback win of the year. Third most in the major throw and two. Clemens stays alive. A slider there below the strike zone. He throws his slider below the strike zone. His sinker above the strike zone and then both sides of the plate with his cutter. There we go. Trying to win the series here at the Big A. Swag strike three. Say good night to the Twins. Kenley Johnson perfect in the ninth inning and the Angels did just enough to win it today 43 as they take the series. Save number seven 474. Theosio that lead off triple. Trout solid game got the run home. Zack Netto two-run blast. His 26th home run as the Halo win this series against the Minnesota Twins. Good one to be able to finish off before going up to Seattle. And you know that’s going to be a crazy crowd up there in Seattle. Should be a fun weekend as the Angels get thrown into the mix with the Mariners fighting for a postseason birth and the division title. Mike Trout had the go-ahead RBI today. Drove in a couple of runs in this one. Zack Neto drove in the other two with his home run. So, the Angels able to knock off the Twins four to three in that go-ahead run in the eighth inning started by Bryce Teodosio. This how short how strong he is when he gets that baseball connected off the wall. Alman loses the glove over the wall and just glides in for the triple. And then Trout a tremendous job getting him home. Quick enough on those hands still to get that job done. Trout scored a run, drove in a run, base hit. talked about him in the opening. Solid performance by him. Zachnet Hosain Kosio though. What a swing that was. Kennley Jansen now 27 for 28 in save tries. A perfect ninth inning to wrap this one up for the Angels here today as they beat the Twins. The Angels get their 69th win of the season and they’ll try to continue it against the Mariners this weekend. Meanwhile, Bryce Teodosio is our Toyota player of the game. with Erica Weston. Bryce, I know you’ve been working a lot on the bunting, but you’ll take the lead off triple in the eighth inning, too. What was your approach? Yeah, just trying to get a pitch up and try to stay in the middle of the field and uh was just thrilled to be able to help the team however I could. You were flying around the bases. What’s going through your mind as you’re making your way around second? I was hoping Bo would send me home. Are you thinking inside the park one of these days with your speed? It’s certainly possible. I’m not going to lie, that was the first thought out of my head whenever the ball kicked off the wall, but we got the win and uh just super happy about that. Do you think it had a chance to get out too? Maybe. It looks like you’re getting close to hitting one out of the park, too. Yeah, it’s coming. Um just going to continue to work hard. Um and uh maybe need to hit the weight room a little bit. What can you say about the response to this team? Tough night the first night, but you come back to win this series and you head back out on the road. Yeah. Um, just super happy with how we responded. I mean, first night was obviously very tough and uh, you know, just being able to put together two wins was fantastic. Thanks for the time. Nice job out there today. Thank you. All right, guys. The Halo will shine brightly as the Angels get it done today. And how about Mitch Reinhardt led the way, his first pitch, a perfect strike as was Kenley Johnson’s to end it here. Four to three. down here on the field with Mark Langston, Patrick O’Neal, Lang, what do you have in there? What’s all this paperwork you got here? It’s my huge score card. This is what I use every day. My eyes aren’t that go through a lot of paper for sure. Nice to get a series win here, wasn’t it? Yeah, it’s certainly a way to finish off this home stand. Not the home stand the Angels were hoping for. Certainly, there were some blowout games in this home stand. Great to see the Angels come back last night after a devastating loss on Monday night. And certainly to win this finale here today to finish this home stand off at 500 and the way it was rolling you didn’t that didn’t look too good. So uh it was nice to see the Angels do that and now head to a critical series up in Seattle where a lot of things are on the line for the Mariners and that will be a fun series to watch. Well, we’ll certainly get into that, but you’re right after losing three or four by like a combined 600 runs for them to bounce back and win these two huge. Uh the offense third inning. does pick it up anytime and tell me what you liked about some of these swings from the Halos here this afternoon. Well, it’s kind of played off of last night’s game. Two out hits are always big and gooey talked about it. It is a back breaker. Certainly Rivero right there. That one off the glove of of Lewis and then it’s Mike Trout who’s putting together a really good series against the Twins hitting the ball a lot better. A big two out knock there. What does that do? Don’t think you’re going to get a fast by Zack Deto. That’s 97. And he says, “See you later.” Number 26 for Neto on the season. Still has a legit shot at 3030 with 30 doubles. 30 3030 for Zack Neto missing what nearly 20 games to start the season. You know, the fact that he laid down that sacrifice punt yesterday. You know, I’m all for that because that proves what kind of teammate he is. Of course, we want him swinging the back because that’s what can happen. Yeah. Different role for Zach Neto. He’s not leading off. He’s in that three spot. and they told him, “Hey, this is a production spot and he’s delivered here today with that two-run blast.” Uh, I like the way the Angels lineup sits right now. And if they had Shawn back in this lineup to have Trout, Shaell, Neto, two patient guys in front of Neto Nettle will get an opportunity to see a ton of pitches. It puts more pressure on a pitcher to be able to attack Neto. So, uh, a lot of good things with the Angels. I I like Mike Trout in that leadoff spot and certainly the swing is getting a lot better for Trout. Uh you see it coming. Yep. He’ll tell us about that uh momentarily for sure. Eighth inning now. Uh credit the Twins. They continue to battle. We got ourselves a tie ball game in the eighth inning. Here’s the sway from Teodosio if he can get some offense going. Look out. Yeah, certainly second night in a row. Almost hits the ball over the top, but nothing funner than a guy with speed running the bases. When that hit off the wall, I’m thinking this could be an inside the Parker with his speed. And the Angels definitely had to hold him up. Trout does what he has to do. get the ball to the outfield with Teodosio speed. He can walk home right here. Angels take that 4-3 lead. And what do they do after that? You bring in Kennley J. Slam the door emphatically. 27 out of 28 save opportunities. He has converted. He he is the I mean obviously you mentioned a future Hall of Famer and yes he is. He has been that guy for the Angels this season and those are critical when you have a closer that you just you could put your tennis shoes on. you know this game is over when he comes in through that gate out there and and I’m sure you were dancing somewhere around that when the music comes in that that’s your favorite song. I chose to come down here in the crowd and just kind of it’s just a slow, you know, but it’s that’s that’s Kenley. That’s the mood he puts you in. Yeah, exactly. And it’s just a nice little smooth one 123 ninth inning for Kennley here today. As you mentioned, 27th save of the season out of 28 chances. Uh you can’t do much better than that. And that is again when you’re a young team and you’re fighting, you want to win games that you have the ability to win games. Kenley Jansen at the backside of it gives you that ability to win those games. Well, with Kennley coming in for the for the save, you get earth, wind, fire, and I got Mike Trout after the dub. Couple of rib eyes for you here, Mike. Did you think he was coming back to you with that fast ball for that game-winning RBI? You know, I had a couple at bats uh early in the day just I think maybe swinging too hard. Um yeah, I’m always looking for the fast ball. Uh just being on time, try to, you know, get something I can get up and uh and drive and uh you know, I got one at this point right now. How do you feel? Yeah, know I feel I feel I’m getting better up there. Uh you know, I just all the time we’ve been putting in the cage, you know, it feels good in the cage and then, you know, just wasn’t translating to the game. It’s good to see see results and uh win some baseball games. Yeah, for sure. Nice swing, Bryce Teodosio. I know how good he is defensively. If that bat plays, I mean, that guy can fly. Yeah, definitely can fly. I was giving him a little crap. That should have been inside the Parker, you know what I mean? With that speed. So, uh, you know, I’m just happy for him to, you know, come up with that big hit. And like I said, the bat the bat will be there. He he he grinds every single day, works hard. Uh, he’s a good kid and, um, I’m happy for him. Mike, you guys are going to Seattle. This series is very important. It’s going to be incredible energy up there. What do you think it means for the young guys on this team to experience that right now? Yeah, for sure. Get the, you know, the atmosphere. Uh, it’s always fun going to Seattle. Um, you know, they’re in a race and you know, we got to go in there trying to win win one game at a time. Thanks, Mike. Appreciate it. Good approach there for Mike. He’s feeling better at the plate and it looks that way, too. No, he that hit that he had in the third inning off uh Bradley there. That pitch was 99 miles an hour. You see teams, they try to attack him with fast balls. He’s starting to get the timing down. 99. And that ball was down. And it was actually a pretty good pitch that Bradley made. Trout smoked it out to left to get that Angels offense up and running with that two-out knock. Uh the timing is always everything for Mike Trout. And when he’s starting to time fasts, pitchers got nowhere to go because that’s kind of how they try to get him out with that hard step. Certainly on the inside part of the plate, when Trout starts to hit that, look out. Yeah. Uh oh, for sure. That’s why he’s drawn a lot of walks. He’s finding a way to help this team win games. We’ll see if he’ll get to 400. He’s got to get to 399 first, but most importantly, it’s a win. And with the win, we are feeling generous. You Angels fans just want free fries. Free medium fries tomorrow with any $2 purchase only on the app at participating McDonald’s. We’ll step aside for just a second and come back to get you ready for the big series in Seattle. [Music] Our [Music] Angels live post game is presented by the OC Healthcare Agency. Navigate to a healthier you at angels.cnav.org. Bryce Osio is fun to watch and the Angels don’t win this game without that triple and then the sackfly RBI by Mike Trout. But uh Tio is is fun. He’s getting playing time and I think this could be the center fielder right now going forward. The rest of this season certainly we’ll see about 26. Yeah, he was brought in to play defense. Offense was just whatever you give us you give us. but he’s brought in to play defense and we’re starting to see the offense come to life for him and we just talked about it during that last highlight package. Anytime you have a guy with speed like that, it is fun to watch those guys pick him up and put him down around the bases. I thought it was going to be an inside the Parker, too. But, uh, Angels did the right thing at that moment. You That is the winning run at third base with nobody out. You have drown coming up. Throw the stop sign up. You know, you don’t want him throwing at the plate on that scenario. But, uh, It’s fun to watch. I mean, he’s a great defender out there. Everything in the air, you feel like that’s in his back pocket. Got twisted around on one fly ball here today, but for the most part, he is pulling everything down out there. Fly ball. That was a line drive shot. He did get twisted around though. We won’t break that down here. Exactly. Right. You know what’s positive is Mitch Reinhardt who threw out the first pitch for us. He’s been um in our Angels TV truck, all of our TV trucks really for so long, but for 37 years with the Angels, over 800 players. Um he’s going to shut her down as our graphics operator, but not before he gets his own Angels uniform. And then the shoulder was a little gooa was catching Mitch Reinhardt. The shot put was in there first. Yes. Didn’t get fully extended. No, but you saved your catcher right there. Kooby did not let anything down. He told them, “Make sure if you’re going to throw it, he make sure it’s up.” He does. Delivers it. Not a nicer guy on the planet, man. He’s one of the most positive guys around. We talked about it in the pregame show. And we we’ve had some fun on the road together, you know, late at night in some rooms with the guitars and Mitch is right there singing. Uh he’s going to be missed around here a lot. That’s true though. That’s true. is really no replacing um not only the job he does, but the energy that he provides, the kindness and the joy um and the sense of humor and the fun. Certainly love working with Mitch all these years. So, congratulations. Good job today. You joined us on the pregame show. And he also got this great uh team photo that he was taking with the communications department with Adam and Grace and Matt. And then Trout comes in, photobombed it. Yeah, he photobombed Mike Trout photo bomb that that that is definitely going to be a keeper. That’s going to be on the wall living there uh for a lifetime. All right, so here’s what’s coming up next. did the Angels are going up to Seattle. Uh listen, you were a great angel. You’re a great Mariner. Uh here’s the road trip. Mariners, Brewers, Rockies. So these next two series are huge in why do you think? Why are these important? I know that you can play spoiler against Seattle, but what does it mean? Well, I it gives a lot of these young guys playoff what playoff atmosphere is going to be like. Certainly the the series against the Mariners, they have so much on the line. If they don’t win tonight, the Texas Rangers are going to be a half game out of for that third and final wild card. There is a ton on the line for the Mariners in that four game series. Jose Soraniano on the mound tomorrow. You couldn’t script it any better to have your ace on the mound and he has been the road warrior. He has been so good, almost unhitable on the road. The Brewers after that, one of the most exciting teams in the game of baseball. So, I look forward to watching that series. They they do everything right. So, a tough way to start that road trip, but it is fun. It’ll be playoff type atmosphere for a lot of these young guys. And that’s exactly what they need to experience. Go up there, play spoiler, take game one, like Trouty said, one game at a time. Speaking of doing everything right, that’s our crew and that’s you, Mark Langston. Lang Langanger, love you, bud. Thank you so much. Always a blast, buddy. Thanks so much, everybody. Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday. We’ll see you tomorrow at 6. [Music]
