Apparently Soroka’s velocity is back up to pre-Cubs days and we can always use an experienced arm in the final stretch. Hopefully we can get more mileage out of our deadline acquisition.
That’s good news. Soroka was great in the pen last year.
I’m hopeful Soroka will be a big time bullpen arm for us in the postseason
Excited for Soroka. We really need the reinforcement and give Theilbar/Keller/Kittridge some innings off down this stretch.
Feel bad for Brown this year. He had a really solid May but otherwise ugh. Hurts to see 100+ IP with an ERA near 6.
I think we need to admit he’s just not a starter. But there’s still potential there. He had a 10+ SO9 this year, had a lower hardhit% than last year. And had a .348 Babip against him too.
Rotation, and the whole team I suppose, getting healthy at the right time
Hopefully can get something out of Soroka down the stretch. Also the best option for Brown, he has options and talent but has struggled all year. Having him up pitching mop up innings wasn’t long term helpful for either side when he could be working on his approach and what not in Iowa (for whatever role they see him in). Obviously options to eat innings are/were limited with Soroka out (Soroka’s role is more than that likely), so was hard to send brown down
Thank god
Free at last, free at last….
Nice having Soroka, Taillon, and Assad all together now to round out the staff. Wouldn’t mind if we went light on Boyd and Imanaga these last few starts of the regular season now that we have extra help to take on innings.
Good news! Man! It would be huge if he was healthy for the playoffs. 🙏
I thought he was done for the year for sure.
Soroka would have to allow 11 earned runs in 1 inning to get down to Ben Brown’s 5.92 ERA. So, I guess it’ll be hard for this not to be an upgrade.
Been waiting 4 months for Brown to go to Iowa
My thumb is sore from upvoting all the praise for Soroka in the pen. Cubs Reddit been smart lately
