🟢 Ivan Fedotov (CBJ)

Pros:
• Upside profile: At 6’7” with KHL success (.919–.931 SV%), he’s got the tools to be a 1B starter if he adapts.
• Fresh environment: Columbus is trending up defensively (Werenski, Provorov, Fabbro, Mateychuk, Jiricek).
• Contract value: Only costs CBJ the league minimum this year despite a $3.275M cap hit → low risk, high potential reward.

Cons:
• NHL track record weak: .880 SV% in Philly, looked slow on NHL angles.
• Age (28): Not much “development runway.” If he doesn’t click this year, he probably never does.
• Competition: Greaves (.938 NHL, .920 AHL last year) is surging, and Merzlikins is still under contract. Fedotov may not get the net consistently.

2025–26 Projection:
• GP: 25–30
• SV%: .905–.910
• GAA: 2.50–2.70
• Role: Tandem goalie / 1B option with upside if Greaves stumbles.

  1. I have no clue what the AHL roster looks like with goalies but he’ll probably tandem with Sawchenko and he’ll be called up if Elvis or Jet stumble or get hurt.

Stat wise I think if you look at Jet’s stats from the A and Sawchenko’s stats he’ll fall in the middle of the two.

  2. I do not get why people think he’s going be the one to go through waivers… we paid a 6th. He is 100% going to get the chance to jump Elvis during pre season. Elvis 100% gets through waivers. Fedotov def has risk of getting claimed.

I really think there is a legitimate chance Elvis is the one sent down if he comes to camp out of shape.

  3. I get why Columbus wants him, but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t just wait until the Flyers waived him and get him for free.
