Spencer Knight Inks New Three-Year Deal With Chicago Blackhawks, Signed Through 2029-30 Season
Spencer Knight is now the latest key piece of the Blackhawks rebuild to sign an extension as the 24 year old goalender has a new three-year deal that runs through the 2930 season carrying a 5.83 million cap hit. And I’m a little surprised to see these two sides reach an agreement so soon because Knight still has a year on his current deal at $4.5 million. And while he’s been in the league for a while and is creeping up on a 100 career NHL games, he’s still a little bit unproven as a number one goalender, but clearly the Blackhawks felt confident enough to sign him to the short three-year bridge deal. And in a similar mold to Frank Nazar’s extension from earlier this summer, this definitely has the ability to turn into a bargain of a contract for the Blackhawks with Knight as their number one goalender. For my full thoughts on this extension, make sure to check out a special weekend edition of Locked On Blackhawks.
