I think he was a favorite to win in 2024 if not for injury. He didn’t win it in 2022 despite leading Arenado in OAA 19-14, but they were very very close (savant had their fielding run value at 98 and 97, respectively). But this season doesn’t have a long-running incumbent winner like Arenado. He leads current NL runner up Matt Chapman in that category 20-6 (funny seeing Espinal is 4th in the NL at 3rd with a 4). This is a very wide margin. It feels like most of baseball is ready to just award him now; he seems like the pretty clear choice. What a treat watching him. It’s been a while since we’ve had a guy you could almost pencil in at the beginning of the year for the GG.
