Speak Let’s Talk Miami. We’re not going to talk too much. Colts beat him 33 to8. Okay, first of all, I’ve been saying this for years. I like the Colts roster. They can’t get the quarterback right. When you watched the roster of Miami today against the roster of the Colts, I’m not sure how many Dolphins could start for Indie. Um, the Tua Tyreek Hill thing is done. Mike McDaniel, but I won’t blame him entirely. When you have Tua as a quarterback, there’s two things. You have to have a good O line and a backup quarterback. And they don’t. So, I think it’s Chris Greer’s the general manager. A lot of this heats on him. It’s not a good enough. Yeah. Yeah. He’s been atrocious. I mean, you have to have a good O line with Tua. You have to have a good O line with Jared Goff. Um, and so I mean Daniel Jones went seven for seven for seven on drives. Never been done. Uh, said that Red Zone said not since 1991. They couldn’t find it. So this goes back to Shane Stiken. There’s there’s two big takeaways. Miami’s done. The second one is here’s Stiken taking Daniel Jones. And I don’t think Daniel’s a franchise guy, but if what I watch today in that division, they could be a they could battle for the division. I I’ll start with Indie on this one. One, I I think Anthony Richson’s starting career was over. I’ve said it the moment they signed Daniel Jones. Like that that thing was he was in major trouble. The Dolphins secondary is on paper could be one of the worst in the NFL. I mean, their corners are atrocious. And the one thing the Colts, you know, I think we underplay their weapons because their quarterback play has been so bad. Harris, good. Pitman’s a good player. Tyler Warren was a top 15 pick. Could have been a top 10 pick. You know, the Jonathan Taylor, they have a high-end run game. Like they they have legitimate offensive weapons. Same with their offensive line is good. But I I would say this about Miami. Uh that that franchise is in absolute turmoil. And when Mike McDaniel gets fired, I I have a hard time seeing their owner just hiring some other random coordinator. Like he’s tried it. It hasn’t worked. I I I put this out on Twitter today. I’ve been thinking about this. I think he’s going to go after a big name. And last year, Ben Johnson would have fallen under a big name. I don’t even think that guy’s going to be exist this year. Who’s the Mike Vrabel of this class? It sure as hell ain’t Bellichic. I don’t I don’t know if you follow that story. Your boy broke it. Uh it’s not looking great, but I I’d say Kirby Smart, Lane Kein, I Ryan Day. He’s going to go after some bigname college guys who maybe just go, you know what? I’m over this NIL. Listen, what about Bellich? Got a place in Jupiter, doesn’t he? I mean, Miami loves sex appeal. All their teams do. Even they Does he still have sex appeal in 2026? Well, I will tell you this. I don’t think he’s built for college. I said this before. I mean, he he he and Mike Lombardi, they’re NFL guys. I mean, he can’t he he can’t draft. How can he recruit? I don’t know. No, I don’t think Bellich’s crazy there. And the one thing if the owner was interested, which which is weird because Miami actually had some success against Bill, but obviously he had a front row seat of watching Bill in his division forever. Bill would have to be pretty intrigued if the owner wanted him because he’d get to play the Patriots, right? That’s right. He clearly despises. So, yeah, maybe I I I just think he’s going to go after a big name. I I can’t see him going after whoever the hot coordinator is for the Broncos or the Texans or whatever, but they are they’re going to be really really bad. They they have no shot if two I mean today Tua a couple times even before the game really got is like forcing balls. I mean if he plays bad they will get blown out no matter who they play. Good team, average team. If if he’s off they are screwed. Yeah. And I think you have to clean out the building. I think Tua’s got a lot of character. I like him but there’s nothing about this team I like. Um, and again, I think there’s a gap between the best GMs and the worst. And I I just don’t think they’re a well-run operation. Um, Miami fans are so funny. They get so angry when you’re critical. And it’s like, guys, you could put the pompoms down. They don’t draft well. They overspend in free agency. Um, the Tyreek Hill thing. I mean, when Andy Reid moves off somebody, when you have Mahomes, it’s pretty good sign. There’s it’s coming with baggage. There’s stuff behind the scenes you don’t. He’s been Tyreek struggled, you know, with personal stuff. I I just there’s nothing about Miami right now other than like to his character. There’s nothing I like. Okay, let’s go back to what you said though. If you’re the owner, would you be interested in Bellich knowing that he clearly I mean he’s proven this now in it’s just his way the highway. He’s not listening to anybody. He’s just bringing in his people. You basically just hand Bill the keys for like the one thing you watch Pete Carroll today like he’s still got a lot of juice. Pete would have been Pete could have coached in college, could have coached in the pros. Like, he’s he feels more like he’s 55. You watch Bill, he feels a little old. He feels really grumpy at the I mean, he’s always been grumpy. He’s extra grumpy. I mean, the resentment and the grudge he’s holding on the craft from like three Bill, you went four and 12. Andy Reid got fired as well. Same record. I mean, 10 years ago, it’s the NFL. It happens, right? I mean, Tom Landry got fired. Welcome to pro football. What are you that arrogant to think that you were just untouchable for life? But he is and you you know the owner Miami maybe he’s just that desperate because they’re that franchise is just I make a lot of fun about the Jacksonville Jags. They got more juice right now. The Dolphins. I mean you could argue at least least amount of juice in the league. A team that if they’re just never on TV and you never watch you don’t feel like you’re missing anything. And you know what? I I’m happy for Chris Ballard who I know a little bit because uh it’s sad to say there was a lot of things the last couple of years that weren’t discussed publicly but privately in the building. Jimmer say was creating chaos. His daughters now I think will will be uh less intrusive, less impulsive. Um, I think you stay with I think if this team could win eight or nine games, sneak in as a maybe a wildcard team. Um, is I they I mean again and Daniel Jones will have a market. I mean, good god today up and down the field. So, it’s just one of those things where I I I think I think Chris Baler’s been on the ropes there for years, but when Andrew Luck retired, he found Carson Wentz. He found Philip Rivers. They bailed water. They were viable. They were fun to watch. Getting Daniel Jones after today looked like, wow. I mean, it it will be it looked a little like a more athletic Philip Rivers. You know, you don’t have a great player, but you got you have a guy that can pick up first downs. He took a shot today to the head, scrambling off to the right. Daniel Jones, he he’s a good Oh, no question. San Francisco 17, Seattle 13. This this was a wildly um frustrating game if you’re a Niner fan. So I’ I’d first take this. Brock Pury had two picks, but I thought it was one of the more impressive outings I’ve ever seen for Brock Pury. I I really meant that. Everything’s going against him. You’re on the road, one of the loudest stadiums. Seattle’s defense is really good and really young. Uh Jake Moody, field goal missed, field goal blocked, so there’s frustration. George KD gets hurt. Trent Williams, you’ve heard of the blue man group. The Niners have a blue tent group. They got old dudes, the head of the blue tent a lot. And I thought 26 of 35, 277, a great last right. Well, it’s amazing that touchdown pass to the tight end. Uh Tyreek Woolen, it really when he let it go, you were like, “Oh my god, this this is a terrible throw.” But that’s the NFL. You have to throw guys open. So he goes, he throws the ball into a crowd. When the ball’s released, it looks like a pick, but you know, the the DB got burned twice on that same drive. So my take is the stat line, two TDs, two picks, won’t speak well of Brock Pury. I was really impressed. Yeah, I mean, their offensive line’s not great. I mean, he’s running for his life. If if he couldn’t move, they would be in major trouble. I mean, his mobility and keeping plays alive. I also think and I’ve come to grips with this because I remember when he came out and he started playing well in the NFL. I started texting around. I’m like how how I understand he’s smaller but he couldn’t go in the fourth or fifth round. People thought he was an awful decision maker which is ironic cuz Kyle Shanahan you’ think want great decision maker. He’s got a little gunslinger in him. I I always said like you got to play like Breeze. No turning the ball over a little like Rogers. Never put the ball in harm’s way. We were going on if you go back to last year, how many second half interceptions is this guy throwing? And he’s throwing some pretty bad ones. And like you said, that game-winning touchdown when the ball left his hands, I thought interception, third interception of the half. Devastating. And and listen, he gave his guy a chance. He’s got to be driving Kyle a little nuts. But part of that is also the playmaking that he comes through cuz like you said, KD’s out early in the game after KD the first drive of the game looked like, you know, a Hall of Famer. Jawan Jennings, as the game goes on, hurts his shoulder. He’s out. He’s throwing to people. I follow this team pretty close. I have no clue who these guys are. I mean, who’s he throwing these balls to? Obviously, Ricky Pearl, that that that looks like for as bad as the Drake Jake Moody draft pick is, Ricky Pearl was fantastic today. He was He was And I’m with you. Listen, these guys swear by Brock Pury because mentally tough uh does not just go into the tank after I mean, he easily could have got into the tank after both interceptions and he keeps swinging. You know, McCaffrey obviously helps. I mean, he’s he’s clearly upgrade. Amazing how often he makes four out of one. Saquon Barkley does this. We get caught up on the big explosive run. Barkley and Christian McCaffrey. I mean, how many times was there nothing there and he squirts out three and a half, four yards. He’s so devastating. Um I I I think this offense is very very difficult to operate and Kyle is not the easiest guy to deal with as a quarterback and I I think he has a lot honestly he should have more faith in Brock. There there were a couple times in the middle of the games like they’re running it right up the middle. It’s like, hey, every if I on my couch know the ball’s going up the middle. McAffrey, have some faith in this guy. Let him make some plays. Let his mobility come out to play. At the end of the game, they didn’t have a choice and Brock came through. Now, I I do think there’s a little element of luck with the touchdown pass. I mean, that’s I I don’t know where you would land on that. You know, it’s not the greatest decision. I know it worked. Listen, sometimes in the NFL, you got a 6’4 65 guy. you got to let him have an opportunity to make a play. And uh he did cuz I’m with you. I thought Brock would have if they would have lost this game. Now, the interceptions were not ideal. They had a lot of other stuff going on that they had to fix. And whenever you don’t have a kicker, it’s kind of like having a bad bullpen. U you know, having an NBA guy that always has bad fouls. Like it’s sometimes it’s hard to overcome that. And that’s that’s a big picture problem for the Niners. But hey, listen. You get a win on the road. As Greg Olsson was saying, he’s like, “God, this place is really loud right now. It’s hard to hear.” So, they got to feel pretty good though. They had some major injuries today. Well, they got a little break on the touchdown and plus Sam Darnold goes up the left sideline for 41. Seattle’s poised to win it. And then Darnold, and this was this has been one of his knocks where he brings the ball down and up. He’s got a slower release. That’s been one of the knocks. And he brings the ball up. It hits a teammate. It’s on the carpet. Bosa alertly picks it up. I mean, good for Bosa. But I mean it’s it’s you know that’s a little bit of luck. Sam fumbles it hitting a teammate because they he was ready to let it rip. So I think these teams I I took C I went three and two in my blazing five. If Darnold scores there I’m 4- one. So I was pretty happy with it. But the the truth is when I watch that game the the difference is in Thanksgiving which team do you think is healthier? And that’s been my knock on San Francisco. I thought today it was a mustwin for the NerS. I did not think it was a must-win for the Seahawks because Seattle’s got more athletes that are young. Younger athletes recover more quickly and over a 17game schedule, guys get dinged up. So, I mean, game one, KD gets hurt, Trent Williams in the blue tent. You know, McCaffrey will miss a game or two. That’s the reality of this team. Hunga’s gone. Green Law’s gone. So, I mean, there’s like, you know, Bosa tends to miss a game or two. So, I thought it was a I mean, this to me this was a big 49er win. Everybody will go, “Oh, it’s the opener.” It felt big to me. Oh, especially with, you know, felt like the kicker was going to blow it. I I thought the big winner today for the 49ers beside Pertie on that game-winning throw was Robert Salva. And you talk about coordinators and he was on the fence about coming out or coming back. There were a lot of different reports they threw a ton of money at the guy. Remember a couple years ago when the Eagles got Fangio? Fangio wanted to go there. He couldn’t wait to get to Miami. You know, Robert had a lot of options. He just made a ton of money being a head coach. He could have easily taken six months off. They were begging him. I mean, if the Niners hadn’t got him, they would have been in major trouble. Beside Bosa, you know, Fred Warner gets dinged up early in the game. Niners got a lot of random guys out there running around on defense making plays. And I think Robert Salah, one major question mark since the Miko got the job with Houston. They went through Steve Wilks who was a weird fit. They had a guy last year who was a special teams coordinator. It didn’t work with Saenson. And now you got Robert Salah, a guy that knows what he’s doing. I mean, think about the Jets defense. Hell, even the Jets defense. I like Aaron Glenn defense getting shredded to get terrible today. But Robert Saul has proven, you know, I think we need to talk about him as one of the better defensive guy. Defense question isn’t even just scheme. It’s motivation. I I think he’s kind of the total package. So the Niners, he he came big today. He He was awesome. [Music]

Colin Cowherd is joined by ‘3 & Out’ host John Middlekauff to react to Week 1 in the NFL. 1. Hey Colin- Are you not aware that Belichick has never coached a winning team that didn’t have Tom Brady as the quarterback? Remember when he coached the Browns and got fired? Belichick simply is not a good coach. He showed it already at NC. The last thing the Dolphins need now is another loser coach!

  2. Just think if Grier didn’t pass on Justin Jefferson, instead he took Austin Jackson, 2022, 2024 season injuries plus this season he is solid when healthy but Miami wouldn’t have the whole Hill mess, not to mention imagine if they stuck by Coach Campbell

  3. Grier isnt the biggest issue, its the famn owner. Hes the one that demanded tua be picked, not justin herbert, hows that working out? Hes more concerned about getting washed up stars to invest in ownership then the actually teams needs.

  4. Everyone bangs on jones meddling in the dallas team, when you gonna start banging on ross for his destruction of the team, they were bad before him, now their a laughing stock in the nfl

  5. Look Collin as a Miami Dolphins fan since I was nine years old I’m now about to turn 58. I have been saying this for several years now and every year this team proves me right. Until Stephen Ross is no longer owner because he does not have a clue about football, and Chris Greer is fired because you are 100% correct most of the blame falls on him. You need to have a good offensive line and a good backup quarterback with the quarterback we have now and they have failed miserably year after year to fix this. I think it was a mistake trading Laramie tons away, I think it was a mistake, letting Robert Hunt go, I think it was a huge mistake. Drafting Liam Eikenberg, thinking he was going to be some phenomenal offensive lineman, I don’t like the idea of trading away Jaylen Ramsey, and Jonuh Smith for Minkah Fitzpatrick as good as he can’t play every position in what is clearly the worst defensive backfield in the NFL. I mean, look at the questionable moves that Chris Greer, Stephen, Ross, and Mike McDaniel have made trading away Jalen Ramsey, parting ways with Brandon Jones and Deshaun Elliott two very good safeties, I almost think it would’ve been a good move to bring Xavien Hower back and move him to safety. I think at safety he could’ve still been very effective for us, trading away Smith and signing Darren Waller as his replacement I mean WTF?, Making storm duck your number one corner in his second year in the league after barely playing last year, signing another lame duck back up quarterback in Zach Wilson, last year it was Skyler Thompson and Tyler Huntley, both nice guys apparently but horrible quarterbacks, there’s clearly no end in the amount of horrible decisions this organization has made. Honestly, if they fire Mike McDaniel now, I would promote Anthony Weaver the head coach because the job he did with the defense last year even if the defense thinks this year it’s because they handcuffed him with what they did with the secondary. I think he would be an excellent head coach maybe he’d be able to find an offensive coordinator that isn’t stale and can change things up from your year. If not, we’re gonna lose Anthony Weaver probably at the end of the season and solid defensive coordinators are not always easy to come by. If this was up to me, there would only be a handful of players that it would be safe on this team for the trade deadline like Jaylen waddle(who I think could easily be a number one receiver on a team that doesn’t have a guy named Tyreek or a head coach that clearly doesn’t know how to utilize him), chop Robinson, Zach Seiler, and maybe a few of the rookies like Ollie Gordon, who haven’t really had a chance to show what they can do to me. Everybody else is expendable and I would trade Tyreek right now because the Kansas City Chiefs are inquiring about him. They’re very very thin and wide receiver, and you might get more for him from them now than you would by the trade deadline when their other guys are healthy again. Something to think about but after all this, the bottom line is until Steven Ross is no longer the owner and Chris Greer is no longer the general manager. This team will be stuck year after year after year in Idiocracy at best and as a dolphin fan of many many many years, I am just so sick and tired of it. I used to get really pissed off during the games when they would lose, and they would blow leads and they would blow games and just shoot themselves in the foot from start to finish, but I made a promise to myself a couple years ago that they weren’t worth My already high blood pressure getting higher and possibly having a stroke over this mess so I pay attention. I follow them. I watch their games as much as I can, but I do not let myself get that fired up anymore because honestly, I don’t expect really anything other than what usually happens to happen. And I can speak for many many many dolphin fans that I have talked to and they all want Stephen Ross’s owner gone and they all want Chris Greer is general manager gone and a lot of them are now calling from Mike McDaniel’s head on a silver platter and I can’t say I disagree with them.

  6. If I was Coach Bill Belichick, I would wait and see what happens to the ravens. That’s the team he Saben, Gruden or any other Coach with half a brain should be trying to take on.

  7. Stephen Ross and Grier have made all the wrong coaching moves and draft picks. They let Campbell go in favor of Gase, let Flores go. Flores knew Tua wasn't a franchise QB. The Fins are weak on too many levels. Stop trading for diva, thug receivers, build an actual O line that can pass protect and pave the way to run the ball. We passed on Herbert for Tua. Let that sink in. I would be hesitant to bring in BB to coach. Prefer Gruden. We need a tough, competent coach. A leader of men. Like the coaches that we let go. Grier, McDaniels, and Tua need to go.

  8. This season was over last year when Ross brought everybody back after a 2-6 start. Grier has whiffed on too many picks and McD cant get out of his head enough to run the team by letting the OCs do their job and call plays.

  9. Diaherria of the mouth. Colin has always jumped on the band wagon talking nonsense and does it strictly for ratings. I have never taken him seriously and never well. As a sports journalist, you are supposed to be unbiased and not get emotional when you report on a team. He demonstrated all of the above, when he went on his Dolphins rant. We just completed Week-1 and they are sounding the alarm ⏰️ 😂🤣😅🤣😂 incredible. Give it 5 weeks and let's see where the Phins are. If they are 0-5 or 1-4, then we can see that things look bleak. You also need to give the Colts credit. They are much improved and executed their game plan. One of their scoring drives was extended because of a Dolphins defensive penalty that gave them an automatic first down. If the penalty wasn't committed on that drive, then the Colts would have been 6 out of 7 in scoring drives. Either way, the Dolphins were beat all the way around. Let's see what happens in Week-2 ???

  10. He will never return to the NFL because he knows he will fail. He had one offer after he left NE, one, and he didn't get it because he wants to bring all his family and friends with him. The NFL has no morality whatsoever as can be seen by players like Watson and Hill and so many other criminals on the field.
However, BB with this girl who could be his grand daughter? That and the fact she is on his hip everywhere to the point she dictates interviews? The NFL is not going to put up with that type of lunacy.

  11. So Bill’s team got shellacked by the only decent team he has faced at UNC and beat 2 glorified HS teams since but you want to talk about him bring that to an already struggling Miami team?
    How about No
