GILAS PILIPINAS vs CHARLOTTE HORNETS GAME TODAY September 11, 2025 – Philippines Shocking Clutch! 2k

[Music] Charlotte Hornets versus Gillis Filipinas. Who will win this world basketball game battle? Let’s go. Thanks for joining us here on 2K Sports for NBA basketball with Hall of Famer Doris Burke and Greg Anthony. This is Kevin Har. On the sidelines, we have David reporting. We’ve got the Charlotte Hornets and the home team. [Music] And a look at the starters for the Hornets. They’ve got Grant Williams. Ston is out there with ball and it’s Green and it’s Plumbley in at the five roaming the paint. Just setting the tone with an aggressive move to the rag. And where’s the help defensively? To me, that’s a complete lack of communication on that side of the ball. These guys need to be talking to each other. Team foul. First personal foul. First team foul. It’s his first trip to the line. Shooting for Charlotte. Josh Green at the line for two. [Music] [Applause] First one falls [Applause] [Applause] That one falls. So, he hits both of them. And that’s the norm for him. He’s pretty much automatic when he’s at the line. He’s covered by ball with some arc. Rebound by Williams. And that is a textbook example of how to defend your win. That boy to have someone back there who can erase your mistakes. What a big time asset defensively. Hornets on defense now after the rest from Mason Plumbley. And yes, it’s good. How about the burst in that first step just right to the rim. Ston deciding where to go with it is just the ball. [Applause] They kick it out to Green. Shot clock at six. Here’s Williams. That one’s no good. 0 of one to begin the game. Here’s Brown. And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. First personal foul. First team foul at the line for your home team. Brown. Two shots. [Applause] Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] That free throw good from Brown. [Applause] and Brown drops them both. Boy, a really soft touch on display. It is a luxury to have a big man who can hit from the line at a consistent rate. Here’s Sexton into the lane. Misses that one. He’s 0 for one from the floor. He’s covered by ball. [Music] Oh, and there. He’s going to put that insane. Now they’re starting to rub it in. Build up a lead. And here we go, baby. It is showtime. And the best to Plumbley. [Applause] Yes. Same in by Plumbley. That’s what he gives you. A big time presence on the glass. And you know what, Drake? Once he gets his hands on it, he’s not even thinking about kicking it out. No reason to do so there. He was going to leave. No doubt. Brown. It’s good from Juan Re. He’s got five and that’s exactly what he’s looking for. Draining the triple [Music] outside ball down low. It’s deflected and taken away by Brown. [Applause] He’s covered by ball. Misses from close range. Oh, ju just incredible that spin. Shook him loose from the defender, but he just couldn’t gather his balance there to follow through with the shot. Well known for being a terrific passer. He shows you right there. Case in point. Passes this move. Nice D from Williams. And here’s Ball. They’ll bring it up for the Hornets. It’s a five-point game. And it’s blocked by Brown. Just over three and a half minutes gone here in the first. Going inside. One up, one down. Two points with his first shot this game. Really well done there. Just confident and composed. Never in a hurry. And now the first timeout called here for the Hornets. Good timing. They’re really struggling offensively. Sometimes it just feels like misses become contagious. He wants to settle his guys down right now. [Applause] Sexton the basketball. Brown against Plumbley. Pocket six hits. Oh, and the jam by Williams. Just a terrific effort on the offensive glass. That’s how they’re going to cut into this league. And Greg, a dunk like that is sure to give them a spot. Oh, and an out of this world reverse jam. Not just a score. Clarkson is very willing to dish it when a teammate’s open. Here’s Sexton still without a basket. Pass the ball. [Music] Smooth with a rebound. And you know, you can’t impact a shot that close any better than he did on that possession. Boy, whether he blocks it or simply alters it, the result is pretty much the same. Now here’s Green and Plumbley kicks the ball outside. Green Plumbley trying to break loose off target from outside. Terrific close out there to challenge the three. It may be the hardest thing to do in basketball. Close under control. and he’s more than up to the task. Some tough offensive sets. They want to turn it around. Yeah, right now you just need a bucket to get some momentum. Williams can’t get it to go. Boy, in that close, he’s almost automatic. Boy, that’s pretty good defense. Wow. Here’s Clarkson. The rebound by LaMelo Ball. Hornets trail by seven. Inside and it’s sliced in by Plumley. Assisted. and hard to decide which better the pass, the catch, or the slam. Yeah, there’s no wrong answer. S sensational. Here’s Smooth. He’s guarded by Williams. They get it again. Tries again. Takes that one up and powers it through. Incredible reverse throw down. Excellent body control. And guys, I’d even go as far to say that was a punctuation dump on the Hornets call time here. The loudest and craziest fans get a free t-shirt. Let’s hear it fans. [Applause] [Applause] Ball dishes to green. feeds it to Bumble. It’s stolen by Brown. Puts it up. Makes no mistake on the open jump. Brown’s got six. How about the timing could be the difference between an assist and a turnover. Nice delivery. Pass to Ston. Three-pointer. Score the basket. Nice shot after missing his first attempt. Well, he’s already a good shooter from distance now. Colin Ston a ton of confidence when he starts to stroke that thing. Clarkson finds Thompson and a lot of contact on that one. So he’ll shoot two here. Clearly second personal foul. Second team foul at the line for two. Thompson [Applause] shooting two. That free throw good from Thompson. Three man. He’s checked in for Charlotte. Enzo Thompson nails both of them. Hornets trail by eight. Here’s man and there’s the try and he slams it one-handed and no doubt they’d love to see him get a lot more of those opportunities and that deficit will go away quickly if he does great. Now here’s Thompson. Here’s smooth. It’s good on the put back. Just in a perfect position to grab that rebound and then get the put back. Here’s man. He’s covered by Thompson. Oh, and they get in the way of the alleyoop. Not to be. Good play defensively. Stolen away. Nice job to interrupt the alleyoop attempt there. Here’s Plumbley again. The Hornets score. Great finish. What a setup. Terrific ball movement there. [Music] Thompson outside. [Music] In the corner is Clarkson. [Music] That one doesn’t go. Nice D from Williams. Hornets trail by six. Here’s Plumbley. It’s hauled in by Brown. Brown’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Left side. Clarkson. [Music] the dish to Thompson. Just fine on the clock. Williams with the block. They recover it. Smooths gone two for five tonight. Plumbley. The pass to Saxton. [Music] shoots from the baseline and the foul called on Grant Williams. Grant Williams. That’s his first foul. Foul. Second team foul. [Music] Thompson outside. The pass to Clarkson. Brownley [Applause] and uses both hands to jam it in. There it is, guys. One of those effort plays that makes a big difference in the game. And GA, it is definitely making a difference so far today. No doubt. On the scoreboard, in the body language of the players, you can tell which team is in complete command. And the second chance becomes a dunk. we could feel over here. G such a good impressive play in the paint. Now here’s Clarkson. Hasn’t made one yet. About 7 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Man passes to Saxton. Fires top of the key. Offensive rebound. Some solid defense from Brown. and his defense so valuable. Not many can bother that shot at the rim. Boy, you see the effort. You see the range. This guy prides himself in his ability to shut you down. Williams with the block. That’s the M does it for the first quarter. They’re up by six in the second quarter about to get started. We’ll be back in just a moment. And if you’re just joining us, we’ve played through one quarter in this one. Guys, what’s your take on the home team so far? Well, credit their anticipation skills on the defensive end. They forced a number of turnovers and a few of those led to quick scores at the other end. Really active first quarter for them. Hornets trailed by six, setting the floor for the Hornets. They’ve got LaMelo Ball. Grant Williams is out there with Plumbley. Then there’s Colin and it’s Green in at the three. The small forward. Well, a nice job by Colin Ston to find the open man. You want to see court awareness from the young gun. Top of the key. Clarkson [Applause] and he goes right over Jason. Well, this guy is more than capable of making that play. Jordan Clarkson confident around the cup outside Green [Applause] Outside. Williams to the middle. Six on the shot clock and it’s Williams throwing it down. I tell you, the vision is simply special. LaMelo Ball toys with the defense, creates easy opportunities for his teammates. [Applause] Second quarter and we’re just over a minute in. Passes it to Smooth. He hangs home the trifecta. Smooths got seven. Well, more and more you see big men working on the outside shot, and this guy has one of the better ones in the league. [Applause] Now, here’s Plumbley. Eight points for him. Long. Boy, soft touch for LaMelo. That floater game is on point. [Music] Sexton with a terrific move. Three in the bucket. Clarkson’s got his second basket of the game. Nice job getting inside for the layup. Got the definking jump shot. Gave a little pump fake and then off to the races. Here’s Plumbley. He feeds it to Saxton. Rebound collected by Clarkson. Clarkson’s got four rebounds now tonight. Smooth misses. Hornets trailed by seven. Here’s Sexton. Some solid defense from Clarkson. Sexton’s gone only one of five shooting from the floor. Right now, let’s send it over to the sidelines and get a report from David Aldry. Thank you, Kevin. Now, LaMelo Ball is young, but he certainly has words of wisdom already. He says, “Everybody always asks me what’s my slogan. Two words, be you. Just got to be you from your jump, and whatever’s supposed to happen is going to happen. If you ain’t you, you already lost. That’s a fact, Kevin. Yeah, that’s right. More than comfortable in his own skin. David, thank you. LaMelo, one of those guys at the top of the list in terms of excitement. This guy is capable of spectacular. The Hornets have had two chances at the line already making a boat. And they were 75% from the line a season ago. [Applause] That’s good from ball. Oh, hits them both. And for those of you just joining us in the second quarter with about 3 minutes gone by. [Music] He’s covered by ball. Over to the wing. [Applause] Brownley. And it’s sent back by Crumbley. They return possession. Offensive rebound and the activity he shows around the rim. It is why he is such a respected defender. And what you love about his work defensively, the ability to challenge and change shots without fouling. Yeah, easy call. Charlotte, their fifth and six free throws of the game, taking two shots. [Applause] And that one falls for Williams. [Applause] And that’s good as he hits both of his shots. And in the second quarter, a little under three and a half minutes played already. Brownley. No good. Shot missing. Excellent D there from Williams. And here is Green to the paint. Here’s Plumbley. And it’s slammed in by Plumley. And he’s an automatic finisher when he gets into that area. He is. And he picks the simple oneand stuff to get the two points. Now here’s Clarkson out to the wing. Brownley gets a good shot. And now he’s three for seven. And so it’s Paul who brings the ball up for the Charlotte Hornets. They trail by six. Here he goes and balls it in. Ah, you see the decisiveness right there with LaMelo Ball. Makes up his mind on the drive that he’s going to dunk it. And sometimes from the outside, not always clear what led a coach to call for a timeout. And as you know, it’s what comes after that gives you some sense of what has changed. And the home team has possession. They’ve led by as much as 10. Clarkson taking his time here. Fires a three. Smooth. That’s good. Smooths got 10 points in the game. Well, the defense deserves to get burned. Absolutely no excuse for leaving him open. Floats it up for Williams trying to go for an alleyoop, but excellent defense and anticipation there to stop. [Music] Even from over here, you can see that one pretty clear. Personal foul. First team foul at the line for your home team number three. [Applause] Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first one falls. Bridges is checked in for Josh Green. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Both shots good from a strike. Hornets trail by nine now. Ball He has six and Charlotte turns it over again. One of those nerves 23. [Music] He’s covered by ball. [Applause] Solid play in the low block and that one’s good. 11 points in the game. Unwilling to let up even for a moment. That’s his killer instinct, just fanning the flames. One thing I enjoy is watching players who don’t pay attention to the score. You lock in on the moment and play the right way. They get it back and they’ll keep possession. Six to shoot. Bridges passes to Plumbley. Offensive struggles continue missing again. dishes it to Clarkson. He’s covered by ball. Ston grabs the board. And when you are as good a shooter as he is, you have to have the confidence to take that shot. Might not always fall. And for most guys, I think you only want to take that shot if you’ve hit a few in a row. That is absolutely a heat check. On defense, Charlotte after Collins Sexton’s miss out to the right wing. Fires for three. Hornets with the rebound. Plumbley’s got eight rebounds in this game. They need a bucket in a big way here to regain some Williams. We love to see the unselfishness of Miles Bridges. Just another guy has a better shot. He’s ready to move that basketball. Clarkson. [Applause] He’s covered by B. He loss up the alley pass. That’s the idea. The ball into that area. It’s a sweet spot. And the Hornets call time here. All right, fans. Get on your feet and make some noise for t-shirt time. [Applause] And so it’s Ball with it. He brings it up for the Charlotte Hornets. 11-point game. In the corner, it’s Bridges. It’s good. The assist that time from Ball. Bridges got his first three points of the game. Well, you can see the work that Miles Bridges has put into that jumper. He is now accurate even in the face of good defense. That’s good by Clemson and guys getting into a nice groove here. Starting to feel it. And this is partly what the game has become, right? A matter of dueling three-point opportunities. [Applause] And he misses the fastest break layup. pressured that shot by getting a hand up just as good as a block. And he did it without fouling. And that’s become an art, changing shots without making contact. There’s Clarkson following the basket by LaMelo. The pass to Smooth. Brands it from downtown. Smooth. 11 points. Yet another three. Once we hit the second quarter, it just seems as if those threes just started to fall like raindrops. It’s ball that time on the assist from Bridges. Well, you love LaMelo Ball staying locked in on that jumper despite the contact. That’s excellent concentration. Here’s Clarkson and the layup’s good off the glass. Clarkson’s got nine points and they’ve repeatedly float inside in the first half, guys, and it’s paid off. Reef finds Bridges. Ball from long range and it’s the Hornets another three. Well, LaMelo ball in the catch and shoot game. He says I can get off the ball as well. Clarkson outside scores a six bucket from the floor with that one. Houston shot the ball 11 times. Big miscommunication on defense. He recognizes it and quickly takes advantage. And that’s typical of this guy. He’s always reading the situation, reacting quickly, and capitalizing. Maybe he’s not one of the elite sharpshooters, but even still, that’s not a shot that he could afford to give. Oh, a nice defensive play to disrupt the Ellie hoop. Here’s Bridges. That’s good. It’s Miller with the assist. Miller’s got three assists in the game. That’s big time leaping ability right there. Bridges can beat any defender once he’s that close. and Miller with the block and that one ends up out of bounds and they retain possession. Checking in for your home team number 33, number 28. [Applause] 24 seconds left to play here in the second quarter. The ball going inside on the inbound play. They forgot to guard that perimeter. Ball kicks to Kurt and it’s the Hornets another three. Well, Seth Curry with the answer and the payback from distance. What a competitor. That’s tipped and a fast break now for the Hornets. Wall from long range and another three for Charlotte. Wow, what a pass there. He made that a very easy basket with that setup. He got it up. Boy, that’s great defense from Bellow. He has the length and the agility to be an outstanding defender. It’s about learning to give it every single night on that end. And a close game so far through the first two quarters as we reach halftime. Start of the third quarter after our halftime. The 2K Sports halftime show. Welcome back to 2K Sports everybody. Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny the Jed Smith. Let’s talk about that first half. Taking a look at this home squad. Kenny, what was your impression? Love to see a team grind for those offensive teams. They’re doing the dirty work and converting those extra possessions into points. It’s got to be demoralizing for the defense at this stage. Chad, let’s get your insight on Charlotte. They need to play with better energy. These guys are going to sleep. Anyway, a lot of gave up way too many open looks. I’m sure they hear it in lock. Maybe they’ll come on in. And that does it for our halftime show. We now take you back to Kevin Harland for the start of the third period. And if you’re just joining us, we’ve played through the first half in a game that’s been fairly even so far. Hornets trail by three. Outside now the basketball. He dishes it to Bridges. Miller with a wide open hit. And again Charlotte with the triple. Off and running right off the bat here to start the second half. Tipping off the second half. Here’s Steve Clifford’s five. Bridges at center with Miller next to him. All out there with Colin Ston and it’s Green in at the small forward roundly. They grab their own miss and ball with the block. Well, you love the 67 length that LaMelo Ball brings as a defender. Just gets a hand on that and sends it back wide open. Couldn’t capitalize. Maybe he rushes that just a little bit. Who knows? But he couldn’t have gotten a better look than that. Count gets to Clarkson. Always going up for the here. Number five to stop the alley. Really good execution by Jordan Clarkson. As a coach, you’re always looking to maximize your team’s consistency. That’s good offense. Now, here’s Paul. He’s got 16. Now, the opportunistic Bridges sees you falling asleep defensively. Up and over the top he goes. Brown outside. Passes it to Smooth. [Applause] Oh, went in there and tried to power it down, but Drew contacts. He’ll head to the line. And you know what? Saved what was likely to be a double line for your home team. Number 34. Two shots. [Applause] Two, two, three. And he makes the first. Mason Plumbley’s checked in for Charlotte. Williams comes in for Miller. [Applause] That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. Just over a minute and a half played here in the third. Outside Green. Sexton against Clarkson. Ball feeling it out of it. And there’s another one for the Hornets. Well, that’s just a smart move by LaMelo. Ball. Uses the screen to shake the defender. That’s nice. [Music] the dish to March. [Music] Green with the rebound and he did everything he could to make that shot as difficult as possible. We call that a great contest. You know, this is something he brings to the table. The ability to anchor your defense. [Music] with the putback and it’s Brown on the follow. Brown’s got 10. Nice tip in there. I mean, he’s got like a six in terms of where the miss is going to go. That is really a tap. Now, here’s B. He’s got 18. That’s a complete effort. Stuck with his man. gets his hand up and then he doesn’t hesitate to finish the possession with the rebounding job. Here’s Brown. Brown shams it in. And talk about putting some extra on that dunk was way over the top. Close game or not, he’s going to finish firm when he gets the space. Enzo Zun will bring it up for the Hornets. They trail by one. He kicks it to ball off to Son. Five to shoot. It’s good. The assist that time from Ball three. Six points for him. Well, this is what you call finding angles to come off in the catch and shoot situation. Nice job by Colin Ston. Dishes to Clarkson. Good for another field goal. Number five of the night. Five for 10 shooting. I’ll tell you, you allow him to get to a spot and it’s over, right? Defense unable to even challenge the shot. Wall finds Bumbley. [Applause] Smooth with a rebound. Smooth’s got his eighth rebound here tonight. And that one drops. 14 points for ABC. And now this game’s taken on a whole new field since halftime. What energy we’re seeing. Something has lit a fire under both of these teams. And slammed in by Plumbley. And how about the incredible timing on that alley? He absolutely hammered it down. Pass to Clarkson. Brown outside and a miss there on the triple. Pass to Ston to the inside and it’s out of bounds. The Hornets able to retain possession here. A split second late but almost came up with a steal there. Absolutely appreciate the effort though. He really went after it. So close. [Applause] Paul with a wideopen look. The offensive rebound. Williams inside the line. Come on. Here’s Pumbley. Oh, he blocked it and deflects off the backboard. [Applause] Green against Clarkson gets that one to fall. That’s a six field goal. He has shot the ball 12 times. How about Jordan Clarkson the ability at his position to absorb contact and finish the play. And the Hornets call time here as the teams head into this timeout. A chance for the coaches now to map out some plays for the next few minutes. and a chance for the players to rehydrate with some Gatorade. That’s important if they want to make sure they don’t move down late for the game. Absolutely. Over the course of a game, you have to stay hydrated. Home team on D. They’ve held a 12-point lead early. Here’s Sexton. Green breaking loose. Plus shot by Son. No good. To the middle. Here’s Slooh. and he caught that pass in full stride on his way to the big slam. That’s about reading the floor. Hits his man right where he wanted it. [Applause] Ball against Thompson. Ball dishes to Saxton. [Applause] A shot that time not on target. Some solid defense from Clarkson. Thompson outside. throws it up high. Pretty ding there. The kind of ball movement coaches love to see. [Applause] Hornets trail by six. Ston the pass to Plumbley to the paint contact on the shot. And now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line. This guy looks like a veteran in pick and roll action already. LaMelo Ball just taking the defenders apart. Charlotte shooting their seventh attempt at the foul line in this one. Charlotte making some changes. Diabate checked in and Curry subbed in for Colin Ston. [Applause] One shot. That’s good from Plumbley. Here’s Thompson. [Music] And there’s the basketball. And it’s blocked and the ball ends up out of bounds. They’ll keep possession. [Applause] Here’s Thompson. Yep, that one goes. [Applause] And so here’s Charlotte. It’s a five-point game. Green taking his time here. Got a piece of it. Pass to Bottoms. Kicks it to Thompson. Brown right side. Here’s Smooth. It’s tipped and he’s able to get it back up again and it’s Brown on the follow. You know, we talk about it all the time, guys. Those second chance buckets always the result of that extra effort. Here’s Paul out to the right wing. Here’s Pabante. That falls. Nice feed that time from Ball. LaMelo Ball loves creating for his team. I love the look right there. Just so easy to play with. Pass to Ramos. And two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the guns out. It’s going to be a Mason. Second team foul at the line for two. Brown. [Applause] Two sides in the first [Applause] free throw good from Brown. And some changes here for the Hornets. Bridges, he’s jacked in for Plumbley. And Miller subbed in for Green. [Applause] And Brown drops them both. And give them credit for the work they’ve done at the line. Nothing new that they’re always impressive in terms of free throw shooting, but still worth mentioning. Now, here’s B. He’s got 18. Here’s Miller. And Charlotte again with the bucket. Unselfishness can be infectious. Terrific teamwork. And Eric, they’ll call a timeout. starting for viewers. Timeout’s a chance to check your phone, grab a drink, but for the team, it’s all about business. Well, there’s something that the coach doesn’t like. I’m curious to see which kind of adjustment he makes here. [Applause] On defense, the Hornets remain trailing by five. Thompson against Bow inside gets rebounded by Charlotte. You know, you can’t impact a shot that close any better than he did on that possession. Boy, whether he blocks it or simply alters it, the result is pretty much the same. Now, here’s Thompson following the miss by Miles Bridges. Thompson passes to Ramos. [Music] First bottoms guarded by first and with the block. Here’s Tiamate. Oh, he misses the D. 112 left in the third quarter. Brown the best to Bottoms. Thompson with it down low. Bridges with the board. [Applause] Miller outside. Shoots from the right block and he overshot that one. Missing. And here’s Bridges. He’ll bring it up for the Hornets. It’s a three-point game. Curry. Good. Don’t let that slight frame fool you. Steph Curry on the interior. He will finish shots. Thompson lays it up off the glass. Thompson’s got six points. Boy, what great body control you saw there, laying it up and in despite having the defense draped all over and Curry with the stuff. Well, don’t sleep on Seth Curry now. He can finish at the cup, too. Nicely done. There’s the W to Brown. That concludes the third quarter. It continues to be an exciting neck andneck game. 85. They’re up by one. We’ve got more NBA basketball coming your way in just a minute. Now, let’s take a look at our assist of the game presented by State Farm. And he he may not be known as a pass first guy playing out of a two guard spot, but he shows here that he can dole out an assist or two when he needs to. Well, having multiple playmakers on the floor makes you a much tougher team to defend. And with three quarters behind us, we start the fourth quarter in what is still anybody’s ball game. Over to the left wing, Bronley. Here’s the three and the rebound goes to the Hornets. And even against defense as tight as that, you almost expect him to still bury those. Charlotte trailing and on the court for Charlotte as we start the fourth. Green is out there with Grant Williams. Then it’s ball. Then there’s Colin Ster and it’s Dioate in at the center filling out the middle. Well, as we move into the fourth, it’s been an even game, guys. Teams have exchanged the lead five times thus far. Brownley headed by Green. Fires from deep. Gets rebounded by Charlotte. Green’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Williams kicks to Ston. 60 seconds off the clock here in the fourth. And that one’s good. Green, their ability again to stretch the floor, particularly in this second half. And guys, boy, when you’re hitting, it sure does work. It obviously opens up major options at the offensive end. The rebound by LaMelo Ball and the activity he shows around the rim is why he is such a respected defender. And what you love about his work defensively, the ability to challenge and change shots without fouling. My goodness, he is such a great dunker. Greg, a high riser. No doubt about it. Brownley to stop the run and he lays it up and in. Second chance points always hurt. Just not enough effort to block out. No doubt those extra possessions can really add up against you when you do not take care of the defensive glass. The inside just a bit too congested for him to get the usual shot he would have with rhythm. Loose and stolen by Ston. Launches it. It’s hauled in by Brown. Brown’s got double digit rebounds now in the game. Oh, no. Left to the inside and then crown with the duck. And you can see him give a little nod and then just burst to the rim for the alley inside. A pair of teammates, Greg, with a terrific feel for each other. Now here’s Ston looking to get it going. Here’s Tiamate off on the lane. Boy, nine times out of 10 that’s going in. I’m sure he surprised himself with this. Well, not exactly his early power goals, right? He depends on his leaping ability more than those guys and it serves him just fine. Outside ball. He kicks it to Williams. It’s good. And it’s his six make against that was the right call. When you need a basket, go to the guys you trust. Well, you’ve got to earn trust and equity by making shots. Nice delivery there. Hey fans, who wants a free t-shirt? Make some noise. Sam, the horn is making a change here. Humbley’s checked in. Getting the latest now from our sideline reporter David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away. Well, during that break, Eric Spolster had some words for his team. He told his players, “I need you to play smarter out there. You’re in a rush right now, and that’s why we’re behind. Slow things down, our plays. See if that tempo shifts at all.” Back to you guys. Thank you, David. Jordan Clarkson showing he’s capable of finishing inside. Outside gone. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. First person when he earned his money on that foul at the line for the Hornets. LaMelo ball shooting two. And the first one at the line is good. [Applause] [Applause] Paul hits them both. It’s been a little while since they’ve been in the lead and that’s why this is such an important possession for them. Round [Applause] a miss that time. Would have put him up. Didn’t hesitate for a second to get a hand up on that deep ball. Tremendous effort. Tremendous timing. The ability to alter shots on the perimeter. That was beautiful. Here’s Clarkson. Following the basket by Mason Plumber. A shot by Clarkson. No good. And his defense so valuable. Not many can bother that shot at the rim. Boy, you see the effort. You see the range. This guy prides himself in his ability to shut you down. He sinks the 11footer. Clarkson’s got four points now in the quarter. Drives to the hoop. No points on that miss. Puts him at seven for 13 from the floor. [Music] Larson outside up a three. Plumbley with the rebound. Plumbley’s got the glass covered here tonight. 11 boards for him. Ball miss number seven from the field. He’s also made seven. Brownley headed by Green. Can’t hit from 12. Nothing seems to be going his way this quarter. Well, not at the offensive end certainly. He cannot buy a bucket right now. Now here’s B. Oh, Sexton in position. Throws down the alleyoop slam. And look at the combo guard get up on that one. When Ston caps off these alleyoops, it gets this team going. Clarkson against Sexton. Out to Clarkson. It goes straight through with the Clarkson’s got 10 points here in the second half. You have to have the vision to find the open man. Beautiful pass. Outside shoots over Clarkson. The shot by Ston. No good. Fish now to Clarkson. Lets it go from deep. Nailed from three-point lane. Jordan Clarkson. Now just a one-point Charlotte lead. Jordan Clarkson unafraid of the big time delivery. [Applause] Clarkson against D2 from Balls. Good as the jump shot falls. Balls got 22. Such a clutch shooter. This guy lives for these kinds of moments and delivers. Nice game. Great performance so far by LaMelo Ball. And he’s in a complete groove right now. I don’t think they can stop him all together, but but they at least need to make him work a little harder than he has been. And now let’s take a look at the New Balance player of the game, LaMelo Ball. as the ring leader of their offense. He has been on his game tonight, spreading the ball around, keeping everyone involved, making sure the offense never gets bogged down, and he’s just giving them just what they needed at that point guard position. The pass to Clarkson and there is the whistle. Illegal screen boy not on the same page there in a possession ball game. That’s a big mistake. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. You know, he’s just leaning a little bit. You try to get away with it, but boy, the official all over it. Charlotte calls timeout. Adjustments are a part of the game. And the coach sees something he doesn’t like here. Well, this is a chess match. Looking ahead a few moves and trying to execute toward that. [Applause] [Music] Sexton against Clarkson. Sexton dishes to Green that shot off. Green’s gone one of four from the field. He’s guarded by Williams. [Applause] Now the feed to Brown over Plumbley and the shot is good. The Hornet lead has been cut to just one point on the basket from Brown. Boy, the buck has been five ft wide for him. He’s dropping everything in. Here’s man. Back to Bumble outside. Green down to five on the shot clock. Charlotte, no touch on you. And his lateral focus really allows him to stay in front of the shooter there and challenge the shot. And this is the key in this game. You’ve got to be able to move your feet to be successful on the defensive end. And what a huge sequence that could be. Wow. A play that might come to define this game. If anyone wants to know where the momentum turned, that may have been it right there. Center stage with the game in the balance. Jordan Clarkson. No problem. 110 left in the fourth quarter. And the basket is good. He’s got a chance here for one more. A terrific break right there. Great strength to finish contact for the Mason. from Plumbley. That and one free throw ups it to a two-possession game. Costly foul on the shot that time. Here’s Clarkson. Clarkson tries in again. Yes. And he has brought them to within two points. Oh, you just love seeing a player with absolutely no fear. To me, more often than not, when you attack, good things happen. Here’s man. No good that time outside to tie it up. It’s blocked. Well, that’s the athletic ability of twice the pike. Another big time vertical into the lineup for number 34. [Applause] Kos Filipino’s ball. Smooth passes to Clarkson Green with the block. [Music] beyond the arc and they get it back. Coins are an absolute must here. And no time to waste. Not at this point in the game. About 3 seconds between shot and game and you’re fouled in the act of shooting. Gets the bucket anyway. So a three-point play chance for him. Second personal power, first team at the line for team one shot. Yeah, he knocks down the clutch free throw. You get the sense this guy relishes getting to the free throw line and he’s tough. Talk about clutch. This guy is it. 16 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Count it. And they still have a foul to give at this point. Home team. And so Eric Spolstra will call a timeout. Guys, your thoughts and they’ve got plenty of time. Gayla’s Filipina’s ball. [Applause] Brownley guarded by Green. Bulls time. Boy, outstanding glass and execution. They’d love to see Clarkson do that on a consistent basis. Knocks it loose. Releases from 15. And he should crank the key for those two points. Nobody paid much attention to him on that play. And certainly get the victory here. That was a one night fabulous finish as they continue to wait out until the very last moment this season tight games won at home. That advantage of having that crowd behind you often times is the ultimate X factor. Thank you for joining us. That’ll do it for now.
