Waiting to start my new job on the first of next month…live downtown and want to spend some of my funemployment watching practice. Are they having open practices this month?

edit: Looks like they just updated the schedule a few hours ago – no tickets/passes appear to be needed

  1. I’m pretty sure all of their practices are open to the public and free to attend at 5/3 Arena. Training camp might be a little different from high demand, I think they sometimes require tickets but those are also free if I recall.

  2. If you got to 5th Third Arena website they have a list of events. Looks like on 9/30 at 8am Hawks have a practice.

  3. Yes they are. Training camp requires you to reserve free tickets online to attend, regular season you can just show up to 5/3 to watch.

  4. Practices are free and open to public 99.9% of the time unless otherwise noted on Fifth Third Arena’s rink calendar on their official site. That’s how I keep up with their practices. During the week practices (usually Wednesdays) are fairly empty (probably less than 40 people in stands) but weekends (Saturdays) are usually pretty packed.

My favorite practice (as of the past few yrs) that I’ve been to was in January 2023 seeing Kaner on ice with trainers and a goalie for rehab beforehand..maybe about 20-30 min before practice began—then he was traded soon after 🙃
