Okay, this pretty obvious BUT I don't think you can talk TOO MUCH about Greatness. It deserves to be discussed even MORE. What Shohei is doing is absolutely absurd. Last night alone, reaches 50 HR for the second straight season and throws 5 scoreless innings as a Starting Pitcher…. that is completely nuts. This guy is the greatest player I've ever seen and it makes me so thankful for his decision to leave the Angels a few years back. His 50/50 season in 2024 capped off by a World Series Championship was storybook.

And that makes me equally as sad for legends, for future hall of famers and studs like Mike Trout who don't get to showcase their supreme talent on the big stage.

  1. Mike Trout had a choice for leaving that shithole on his prime but he decided to stay.

If you decide to stay on a team after they have missed the playoffs the last 6 seasons before you resigning that’s on you.

  2. Half the time he looks like a dude playing slowpitch softball out there, like he’s just goofing around having fun, toying with this or that

  3. Angels made a huge mistake not trading Trout and Ohtani a few years ago. They could have gotten the moon for them.

Look at the haul the Nats got for Soto, CJ Abrams, good starting Short Stop, MacKenzie Gore a decent starter, and James Woods a very good young LF.

None of them are close to Juan Soto in value, but when you’re a bad team, loading up on good players is how you rebuild. Stars are amazing, but is it better to have an 8 WAR guy and 2 0s or 3 3WAR guys. Once it was clear Rendon was a bust they should have gone into blow up the team mode.

  4. I got to see LAD play against the Mets earlier this year at Citifield. Despite being a Mets fan I was excited at the prospect of seeing the Dodgers play. The Mets ended up crushing the Dodgers (LGM!) but watching Shohei open the game with a HR was awesome.

  5. I think his 5 innings last night were no-hit! And then the bullpen takes over and allows 9 runs 🤨

  6. I like watching Ohtani play. That swing is so big. When he strikes out, he strikes out.

Last season I bought tickets to one game during the Dodgers’ series, picking the game totally blindly before the season. It turned out Skenes pitched (I believe his second home start), so I got to see Skenes strike Ohtani out, then Ohtani hit a homer off Skenes. That game was awesome.

This season I decided to go to the whole series. I was especially psyched to see Ohtani pitch. Which he did not do! He did hit a homerun off Bubba Chandler, the first Chandler had given up in MLB play. Other than that, it was surreal to see the Pirates sweep the Dodgers, which really psyched up Pittsburgh fans, after which the Bucs have been complete and total bums.

  7. They should’ve let him pitch 7 and probably wouldn’t have lost the game -.- especially since his pitch count was really low going thru 5

  8. It’s very impressive for any pitcher to no-hit a team through 5 innings but it’s downright crazy when that pitcher has also put in back to back 50HR seasons with his bat as well.

  9. I’m still not convinced he’s NOT a Japanese science experiment grown in a lab genetically engineered for being a baseball supersoldier

  10. “Studs like Mike Trout who don’t get to showcase their supreme talent on the big stage.”

This will be the first year in about 5-6 years that has been healthy enough to play over 120 games. And his numbers are down drastically. He’s not being showcased, not because of Ohtani, but because he’s not playing enought to be seen anymore.

That’s not diss on Trout. He’s just been plagued with injuries, it’s kinda sad. And honestly to the point that personally I don’t see him being a first ballot hall of famer, maybe not at all.

  11. My favorite thing about being a major fan of Ohtani is how angry it makes the haters. Honestly amazing how many people hate on him.

Understand the perspective of the MLB “posting him too much” – but if you legit HATE on it, you’re just ignorant and don’t appreciate the game/how impressive it is.

Aka if you’re a hater you do not know ball

  12. If someone is truly great, you should be able to enjoy watching them play no matter where they are. As an Angel fan, we’ve been telling you Dodger fans about him for years. You just didn’t give a crap. Now, I’m happy for you to have him on your team if it means he’ll finally get the additional praise. Good luck. Take good care of him.
