Andrew Wiggins Will CHANGE EVERYTHING For The Miami Heat

[Music] We’ve talked a lot about Andrew Wiggins recently in terms of potentially being traded the Los Angeles Lakers, but the truth is Wiggins changes everything for the Miami Heat. It could either go really positive all thanks to Andrew Wiggins or it can go negative but turn into a positive because of Andrew Wiggins. And I’ll explain why in a little bit here. Here, I’m Nick Roloff. This is the here report by Chad Sports. But Wiggins obviously didn’t have the best tenure in Miami after being acquired in the Jimmy Butler trade at the deadline. And it’s not because of his play on the court. No, he actually played good. But he just only appeared in 17 out of 33 possible regular season games. And then people did watch him struggle in the playoffs and everyone came to the conclusion, even myself, okay, maybe Andrew Wiggins isn’t the best fit long term in Miami. But the truth is, I think it’s because of what he was asked to do with the Miami Heat, specifically in that playoff series. Think about that team Miami threw out there on a nightly basis. It was Tyler Hero getting faceguarded and doubled almost every screen by the Cleveland Cavs and they were just begging anyone outside of hero to produce offensively. They trusted Evan Mobley, a deoy, to defend Adabio and he did it well. And then they were confident in the rest of their team’s ability to defend Andrew Wiggins and he couldn’t beat him and that was the case. And if we’re going to be honest, Wiggins was the third option for Miami down the stretch of the season. That just can’t be his role. It just can’t. Wiggins is a very good basketball player. But the only way he can be a third option is if he’s playing with all-time greats, which is what he was doing in Golden State when he was an all-star when they won the title. He was playing with an all-time great in Steph Curry and Klay Thompson who was extremely efficient and productive that season. No offense, I don’t think I’m breaking any news here. Tyler Hero and Bamit Abio are not Klay Thompson and Steph Curry. So with his current role, it just simply fits him better because now he is asked to be the fourth option. You have Hero, Powell, and Bam as your three leading offensive guys, which means Wiggins could then take a little bit of a step back offensively, be more of a connecting piece offensively, and exert more energy on the defensive end of the floor, but also face lesser defenders. Because when you think of how teams will defend Miami, they will focus on Hero first, then they will likely focus on Bam, even though he’s not as as aggressive as Powell. He is our second best, if not probably our best player in general. So, they’ll focus on them two and then Powell’s offensive punch. So, then Wiggins will get to go up against the fourth defensive player, which means he could take advantage of mismatches more. Like, let’s be real here. I have often labeled Yovic and Wear as X factors for this Heat basketball team, but I think we have not talked enough about Andrew Wiggins. He should be in the same breath as Yovic and Wear. Yes, those two young guys can elevate the ceiling of the Miami Heat, but if you are purely looking at players that can change the trajectory of the season for Miami, positively or negatively, there might not be a player out there that changes it in more of a positive direction if Andrew Wiggins is able to stay healthy and really take advantage of these mismatches that he will face on a nightly basis in the regular season as the fourth option. like Wiggins can really elevate this Heat team and if he is able to, you can really project Miami to have one of the best fiveman groupings in the entire NBA. I’m not talking Eastern Conference. I’m talking the NBA. Does it mean I think that he can win a title? No. I don’t think they have enough depth. But their fiveman lineup could go toe-to-toe and could not will with many different teams. Like you have a grouping here that you see on screen that are all 18 point per game scorers or better with Hero becoming more efficient. Powell coming off of a career year. Wiggins played efficiently for most of the last season and Bam had a down year offensively. you anticipate that he’s going to be able to bounce back and be more efficient this season. So, you have these four guys that’s going to be hard for other teams to consistently defend because we can just be so well balanced and any of those four guys can beat you on a given night going for 30 plus points while shooting very efficiently from the field. As long as two of those four give you good offensive performances on efficient shooting on a nightly basis, you are going to be tough to beat. That’s a very, very solid top four. And I mentioned they could have the top five lineup in basketball. Well, guess what? We got to decide who that fifth player is. And I’ll give you my kind of thoughts here in a second, but the likely fifth player to those core four is either Yovic or KL Wear. Pin comment. Pick a fifth player for that Heat lineup. NJ for Yoic, KW for Wear. We saw in the graphic earlier in the show that I had KL wear in the starting lineup. I am starting to change my opinion and I’ve really been starting to trend this way for the past month and a half. I’m starting to lean Nico man. I really am. I think when you look at these two players, they each have so much different skill sets and different elite things they bring to the table. Yoic brings elite IQ, positional versatility, spacing, and the ability to handle the rock. Khal Wear obviously brings a two big lineup, rim protection, more rebounding as well as well as a lob threat for the guards, Hero and Powell. But I think I lean Yovic because of that spacing that he would provide and the roster balance as well. Yes, I would like to see where start. I think he’s a long-term starter. But as long as you have Wiggins and Powell on this team and starting, you need I think another spacer and creator and that’s Nicole Yoic because Bameabio has not shown the consistent ability to be a threat from beyond the ark. Kel Wear has shown flashes but he is not consistent from beyond the ark. And let’s be real here, the Heat are at their best and the players that the Heat have are at their best when they’re able to get downhill and put pressure on the rim. It’s harder to do that if you have two players in wear and bam clogging the paint. And if you push one of them to the outside, well, then you’re taking away one of their best abilities as a lob threat in mid-range. So, it just becomes a little bit clunky. This is not me saying that Bam and Wear can’t play together, but I think it just creates a more well-b balanced lineup if you only have one of them on the floor with Wiggins and Yoic and then your backcourt, but it also it helps your rotation with a big man coming in off the bench because you do not have a center off the bench right now. If you start Bam and where your backup big would then be Yovic at that time, but he is not a backup center. So starting Yoic at the four in between Wiggins and Bam with Powell and Hero in the back court creates a way better lineup offensively. It’s more versatile defensively as well and it creates more balance on your bench. It makes a lot of sense to make Nicole Yovic that starting. More coming up here in a second, but we’re almost time. It’s almost here the season. Come along for the ride where we’re going to have weekly watch parties, daily videos. subscribe today and join the channel here. We’re a family at the Heat Report. I alluded to there being another way outside of basketball related that Wiggins could change everything for the Heat. Well, if the Heat struggle and every positive that I mentioned in the first half of today’s video actually does not happen, well, he can actually be traded as well. Like, if the Heat are struggling, they look like a playin team. Well, then just trade Wiggins at the deadline. I mean, it would just be the most nobrainer thing that Pat Riley could do. Now, would he do it? I don’t know. Pat Rally does a lot of stupid things, but the smart GMs in the world would recognize this team isn’t a playoff contender and would be a playin team again and then trade him because Wiggins has only one guaranteed year left on his deal this season. And then it’s a player option for $30.1 million, which he will likely opt into because I don’t think he’s getting a contract worth $30 million over multiple years by another team, unless he comes out of nowhere and averages like 24 25 points a game this year and is an all-star again. And if you did trade him for expiring contracts and maybe draft capital, you would then create 84 total million dollars in expiring money. When it comes to Powell’s 20 mil, Wiggins is 28. You have Fonteio’s eight. Like these start to just build up here and you get to $84 million in inspiring money which would create a lot of flexibility not only for free agency next summer but also on the trade market. So, when you talk about a potential return for Andrew Wiggins, it I think depends on the team, but I do truly believe Miami could net a first round pick alongside expiring salaries for Andrew Wiggins. We have talked a lot about a potential deal with the Los Angeles Lakers and how I am demanding connect Rui Hachima and a first round pick. If the Lakers play really well to start this year like Luca, LeBron, Reeves, Aton, they’re cooking. They are a top three team in the West, but they feel as if they need that extra push. We know this is likely LeBron’s last season in the NBA. So, if they feel like they need something to get them over the top and beat the reigning champs, OKC, why not push your chips into the table, send that first round pick and expirings to Miami for Wiggins. And if Miami is struggling, they should absolutely entertain that deal as I mentioned just a bit ago. So, to me, the Heat are in a win-win spot as long as Pat Riley doesn’t f this up. Either way, you get good Wiggins going up against mismatches every night and the Heat are a top six team in the Eastern Conference. If the Heat stay healthy, that’s a very real possibility. I actually have them as the sixth or fifth fifth best team in the Eastern Conference right now. Only teams that I could can confidently say are better than them are the Cavs, Magic, Knicks. Those are my top three in the East. You put them in the same tier as Detroit, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Boston, Indiana, that could shake out any other way. I think the Heat ultimately become a top six team this year if they could stay healthy. But if I am wrong on that, injuries just crush this team and the Heat are a bad team in early February. Well, then make that trade like I just mentioned with Wiggins and set up yourself better in the future with a first round pick. Either way, Andrew Wiggins changes everything for Miami. either makes this team a playoff team and not a playin team or it can net Miami assets at the trade deadline. We’ll be here for every step of the way. So, subscribe and join us. I’ll see you tomorrow with another video. Go Heat. [Music]

  1. Bam is not a good center in 2025. When will these Heat media guys understand that? He wasn’t a good center in 2024 & every other team’s center has only gotten taller or better.

Bam was a cute center when he was going against Theis & DeAndre Jordan. Not 7 feet guys
