We’ll discuss the pitching today for our Brewers. Freddy Peralta, absolutely fantastic, consistent offense. We’ll talk about exactly what that means and what it meant tonight for our Brew Crew as they score nine runs. And as you heard me at the top of the show, the magic number now down to seven for the NL Central Division Championship. Unfortunately, the Cubs out in Pittsburgh not getting any help uh from the uh the Pirates are the Brewers as the Cubs beat the uh Pittsburgh Pirates earlier in the day four to one. So, the magic number to clinch the National League Central Division is seven. Remember, the Brewers are already in the playoffs. They clinched their seventh playoff birth in their last eight years. So, good things still trending for this Brewers team. We’ll talk about this victory tonight. And of course, your thoughts, your reactions, your celebrations are all welcomed on the program. A victorious locked on Brewers postcast. Let’s get into your scoring summary today because it’s a nine-to- win. A lot of Brewers runs. We’re going to talk about it. I definitely want to make I I want to keep some time aside for maybe some fears some fans had going into uh the the last few weeks of the season and but we got to talk about Freddy Palta as well. So we want to talk about that as well. Let’s get into your scoring summary tonight brought to you by Neutrifall game time in FanDuel. Christian Yelich getting the Brewers on the board early in this one. in the first inning, a one- nothing advantage thanks to a double off the bat of Yi, who was absolutely fanf freakingastic at the plate tonight. And I’m going to tell you right now, it’s going to be a different Brewers team in the postseason if Christian Yelich is healthy. And it certainly feels like that’s the way things are going. And this is the thing with this Brewers team, too. And I and I I know we just got into the scoring summary, and I’m already taking us off off track here a little bit, but it has to relate to the scoring summary. Kaden Dana getting the start for the Angels. 21-year-old, their fifth rated prospect in their organization, but the Brewers had him on the ropes early in this one. The first inning, they had him on the ropes. He only scored one run, the Christian Yellow double, but he threw 32 pitches in the first inning. How many times have you and I sat here, you guys, and have said, “Take a bite out of that pitcher, but actually let it make it count.” like take his pitch count north of 30, score a run or two, dip into that pitch count, take a little bit of bite of that pitcher, as Pat Murphy likes to say, and take advantage of those situations. Tonight, the Brewers did just that. It was only one run, but that was completely fine. You were able to get a run and get his pitch count up really, really high. In the second inning, you did it once again. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Sal Freel gave the Brewers a two nothing advantage. The third inning, you’re scoring again. Caleb Durban with a single to left field that would score William Contraras. In the fourth, Christian Yelich, once again, we already mentioned his name earlier in the game. He would homer to center field, a two-run shot for Milwaukee. That would give them a five to nothing advantage. They would chase uh Kaden Dana out of this game just after three and two/3s. And they scored on him every single inning that he was on the mound. Three and two/3s, he gave up five earned runs to this Brewers offense. Three walks. the Brewers taking advantage, having those hard-nosed, pesky, annoying at bats, as we know, as we like to call them, those brewery at bats. That’s exactly what the Brewers did up in this one. The Angels bullpen would come in for a little bit uh and shut down the Brewers offense. They would get a couple of solo home runs in the fifth and in the seventh. That would make things five to2. That would take the Brewers to the bottom half of the seventh. and Andrew Vaughn who if there was a little bit of concern and and rightfully so I guess Andrew Vaughn a little bit of a cold stretch uh at the earlier later part of August into September has completely snapped out of it for Andrew Vaughn. He was fantastic once again this evening of a double to right field would score Bryce Terrain the eighth inning. Then Jackson Turo with a hit that would score Blake Perkins. William Contrarus with a hit uh to left field. Both of those happening in the eighth inning. That would give the Brewers their eighth and their ninth run off the bat at Cheurio and Contraras. And then the Brewers bullpen consisting of Grant Anderson, Chad Patrick, and Yoel Pyams coming in and shutting down the LA offense for the Brewers as they cruise to a 9-2 victory at American Family Field. Their 92nd win of the year. Not any team in franchise history has scored or excuse me, has won over 96 games. This Brewers team is four wins away from tying that and five for taking the franchise lead in wins. I don’t think any of us had ever had our bingo card in this one. Uh but the Brewers do get the uh a good win this evening to kick things off on the series. You guys know how I feel about game ones of a three-game series. Always pivotal for me to get that game one. The Angels not playing really good, right? We’re just swept four games uh over out in Seattle. Seattle’s playing really good baseball to their credit. Uh really important for the Brewers once again to set the tone in this one. Uh and it all begins with their uh player of the game. We’ll get to that after we get to these. A 92 refreshing, relaxing uh victory tonight for our Milwaukee Brewers. Their 92nd win of the season. We mentioned it already. The Magic number going down from 8 to 7. The Cubs uh unfortunately getting the win against the Pirates. The Phillies with the Brewers are are still a game ahead of Philly. I know they own the tiebreaker as well. Uh the Phillies out in LA, so that is just getting started. Uh so we will not know what that is after uh before our show is over, but hope for a a Dodger win against the Phillies. 9-2 win. A lot of offense for the Brewers, but nobody on the offense is getting tonight’s locked on Brewers player of the game. This is the locked on player of the game. Alta in this one. Just absolutely fantastic tonight when the Brewers need him the most. And I’m not saying that they needed Freddy tonight, but it was great to see him go out there and do exactly what this team had him, you know, needs him to do night in and night out. Six innings pitched. We’ve talked about getting to that that six inning mark for the Brewers. The 10 strikeouts tonight, season high tonight. his first 10 uh K strike uh strikeout game of the of the season for Freddy Peralta. Just the one earned run and just two hits allowed by Freddy Peralta with that Angels offense. A 265 now erra his 17th victory of the year and part of this game is the turning point in this game and it also includes Freddy Peralta. So without further ado, your turning point in a 9 to2 win. Time to reveal where the game was won or lost. It’s the turning point. We start with the turning point, but tonight I wanted to start with the player of the game because the turning point includes the player of the game. So, we’re double dipping a little bit here with Freddy Peralta. And as we should, six innings pitched, 10 strikeouts. I thought he was absolutely fantastic all game long. But for me, the turning point in this one were the first two innings for Freddy Peralta. First two innings, six strikeouts. You heard that I did not misspeak. That is that is exactly what happened tonight for Freddy Peralta on the mound. Six strikeouts in the first six outs in this game against that Angels offense. Now, not a juggernaut, right? The Angels aren’t going anywhere in the postseason. They’re they’re just got swept off of the four game series against the Mariners. Haven’t been playing really good baseball, but it’s still a good offense. Still a team that can rack up some runs against you, especially that top five uh for this Angels offense. And tonight they were completely shut down. An 04 for the top five of the Angels offense. A lot of that includes the six innings of work that Freddy Peralta did, but it really for me the turning point. Yes, the Brewers piled on a handful of runs, but for them to get for Freddy to set the tone early in this game, six strikeouts in the first two innings to me and then you’re adding on runs and that’s going to bring me to I guess an honorable mention in this one is is Christian Yellish tonight for the Milwaukee Brewers. not going to get the lockdown Brewers postcast player of the game honors. Three for five tonight from Christian Yelich. And a big part of that was not only did Freddy set the tone really in the first two innings and obviously the whole, you know, the whole six innings that he went, but this Brewers offense, this is something that this is what makes this team so scary, right? I mean, they were just consistent offense. And what I mean by consistent score a run in the first, a run in the second, a run in the third, two runs in the fourth, a run in the seventh, three in the eighth. I mean, that’s as as consistent as consistent gets. 13 hits tonight for the Brewers offense and scoring nine runs. Christian Yelich with three of them. I don’t want to point anybody out and I don’t want to do this to Joey Yo. Joey Ortiz the only player for the Brewers who did not reach a base this evening. Everybody also besides Joey having a hit in this one. And as we mentioned, I I got let me take that back. Bryce Terrain also not with a hit, but he did have a walk. So Bryce Terrain not with a hit. Joey Ortiz with not getting on base or a hit. Other than that, everybody reaching base and and just being able to draw that consistency, putting that pressure on opposing pitchers, putting that pressure on opposing defenses. This is where this Brewers team is so scary, where they’re so good where it’s midseptember and they’re at 92 wins. And you think to yourself like, “Holy cow, how do we get to this point?” It’s because they’ve been so good at doing this. And it all starts with their starting pitching. And that’s kind of been their strength. I know in the beginning of the year, you and I were sitting here talking about, “Hey man, Freddy’s your only pitcher.” They go out and make a trade for Quinn Pier. It’s not very, you know, widely liked, but uh Freddy Peralta tonight all season long has been fantastic. We mentioned his 17th win. He gets the honors for the lockdown Brewers postcast player of the game. But we’d be remiss not to mention Christian Yellow, who was also three for five this evening. His 29th home run of the season. 29 homers and 99 runs batted in for Yelli. Still a handful of games left for Christian Yells to get to 30 uh home runs and 100 runs batted in. And what a turnaround. What a story that would be for uh number 22 for the Brewers. Maybe comeback player of the of the year candidate, I think. So, uh but a fantastic performance tonight uh from Freddy Peralta. He gets your honors. Six innings pitched, 10 strikeouts, his first 10K uh uh uh game of the year for Freddy Peralta. Again, 17th win. That RA dropping to 2.6. 65 just the one earned run for Freddy over six. Fantastic performance tonight from Freddy Peralta and our Milwaukee Brewers which included a nine-2 win. Coming up after this break, the things you’ll be talking about tomorrow and your thoughts after the victory. Today’s lockdown Brewers postcast is also brought to you by FanDuel. A 9-2 Milwaukee Brewers win over the LA Angels at American Family Field. Their 92nd win of the year. the magic number dropping now to seven in order to clinch the National League Central Division Championship. We’ve mentioned the Freddy Peralta performance. The offense tonight was absolutely fantastic. The defense was fantastic and and and again we mentioned Freddy Peralta at at lengths as we should, right? He gets the the player of the game nominees, but or not gets the award, I should say, not the nominees. Uh but the Brewers bullpen also really having a stout performance. Freddy Peralta gave up two hits over those six innings. The bullpen only gave up one hit after Freddy Peralta exited this game. Grant Anderson coming in with one hit allowed. He was the only uh relief pitcher to allow a hit uh over the uh in the seventh inning. Chad Patrick striking out the side in the eighth. Fantastic performance tonight from Chad Patrick and Yo Pam shutting him down in the top half of the ninth inning. So you’re not, you know, using your high leverage guys. Uh Trevor McIll with maybe a little bit of setback, some soreness after a bullpen session. DL Hall throwing a bullpen session. Nick Mir looks like he’s probably on the brink of making his return. So, the Brewers, more good news than bad news, and we’ll see what the verdict is on Trevor McIll. I know the Brewers, including manager Pat Murphy, want to get him ramped up uh into the postseason. And speaking of postseason, let’s talk to the things you’re going to be talking about tomorrow after a 9-2 Brewers win. This is what you’ll be talking about. Tonight was a fraction of the reason that this team is so dangerous. Like why they’re so good, why I understand there’s some some some fear, some worry of peaking too early. The Brewers handled business. They did exactly tonight what they should have done to a bad baseball team, but it’s the way that they did it in so many different ways, right? 13 hits. You only had one of those was a home run. You scored nine runs. Christian Ellis’s two-run home run. You’re able to rack up 13 hits. Everybody, as we mentioned, besides Joey Ortiz and Bryce Terrain without hits, Joey Ortiz, the only one not getting on base this evening. This is what makes this Brewers team so scary is because when you have a starting pitcher like Freddy Peralta who can come in and shut down an opposing offense of six innings and striking out 10 batters and then you can have guys uh you know with uh multiple uh stolen bases. Blake uh Blake Perkins with a stolen base. Uh Caleb Durban with a stolen base. Christian Yelich I I guys just being able to put pressure on opposing defenses was on display once again tonight for our Milwaukee Birds. We talked about the timely hits, right? Some of those losses over the last few weeks have been because they just hadn’t been able to get a timely hit at the right time. That was not the case this evening. Right off the, you know, right off the bat, right? Literally right off the bat in the first inning in this one. We mentioned the very good pitching. But this is the the other thing is like good at bats, right? Good at bats. And it’s not always scoring at crooked number, right? That’s what we want. That’s what the end goal should always be. But it’s putting up good at bats against starting pitchers, right? Kaden uh Dana who got the start again, fifth ranked prospect in the Angels organization, 21-year-old. Right away, the Brewers made him throw 32 pitches in the first inning. He only scored the one run, but they were able to, you know, take a bite out of the starting pitcher and then take advantage as the game went on, scoring every inning that Dana was on that mound tonight. And this is why I still believe in this team. And I know there’s some people that are kind of up and down, a little bit worried. They’re seeing the Phillies kind of crawl a little bit closer to the Brewers, but I I I I’m telling you, they’re going to handle business. They’re going to close out the National League Central in the next week or so. We’re going to be talking about getting a top two seed, but it doesn’t really matter where the Brewers fall because the way that they’re able to play baseball and the way that they’re able to beat teams is why I believe in them. And tonight was an example of that. Again, an absolutely fantastic performance tonight from our Milwaukee Brewers. Your thoughts, your reactions on the program. We begin with every day. Cody, boy, we needed a win like tonight. Hopefully, they can carry this into tomorrow’s game. Got to keep the Phillies and the Cubs in the distance. I’m not necessarily worried. I maybe I’m getting ahead of my skis here a little bit, but I’m just not necessarily worried about the National League Central division at this point. I know mathematically it’s still possible, the five-game lead for the Brewers. I I do think that they’re going to be able to handle business. Their schedule’s tougher. I know that Chicago, but it does feel like it’s it’s a team that I still believe in uh to close out the division. Now, the the Phillies are a whole another, you know, discussion. They have been playing some really good baseball as of late. So, that’s going to be one to kind of keep your eye on, but I think uh at the worst case, you know, you’re you’re dealing with a one or two seed. Uh worst case, I should say, you’re dealing with a two seed. Best obviously with the one everyday Charles, nice win. Had a feeling about it when Peralta struck out the side to start the game. Offense chugging along. Guy staying hot. Couldn’t ask for anything more tonight. Yeah. And there a little bit of a scare. Like the only little bit of a scare was that when the trainer ran out, when Caleb Durban had that jam shot and you were like, “Okay, what what happened?” Cuz I didn’t really see anything upon uh the actual game and then um you watched it on replay and it looked like he just had he just got jammed really bad. You’re like, “Come on. The only thing that’s going to ruin this game is some kind of injury where the game’s kind of sort of in control.” and it felt like it was in control right away because as you pointed out Charles and as we have talked about uh the uh the way that the Brewers uh Freddy Praalta started the game uh in this one and just shutting things down. Gcap over on YouTube part of our every day. He says Perkins looks lost not going to beat the horse anymore that than that cause the next stage is Elmer’s glue at this point. A good bounce back from Freddy and can’t wait to see Yelli in the postseason. We’ve talked about Blake Perkins and what this Brewers team is able to do with him now. One for three tonight. I I trust Blake Perkins. I just do. Like it’s a guy I know a lot of fans aren’t, you know, high on. He’s batting 217 and I I understand that. I thought he played such a pivotal role obviously when the Brewers went on that 14game win streak when Jackson Turo was on the IIL. What we saw from him defensively obviously goes without saying, but offensively I thought he had big moments. uh you know in that Cub series as well. You know, I thought that he is somebody. Look, they have a they have a good problem, right? It’s a problem, but it’s a good problem. Tonight, Blake getting the start in center field, Sal in right, Jackson Turio in left. Like, they have the ability to move those guys around. And again, I think where Yellow is right now is is obviously working. They’re they’re his workload is being, you know, used correctly by manager Pat Murphy. I do think that uh the opportunity to use Blake Perkins, whether it’s not in a starting position or you need a defensive, you know, specialist late in the game or a base runner late in a tie ball game. I think uh I think that uh it’s it he’s he’s a guy that’s going to step up and I think he’s a guy that’s going to answer, you know, when when we need him to because he has and and that’s that’s what we know. Woodworking outdoorsman, another everydayer over on the YouTube channel. Ortiz had more chances at RBI’s this season than anyone I know of in baseball. Good thing for him. His defense is great. They actually talked about that on the television broadcast about how many opportunities he had come to the plate where the uh runners were in scoring position tonight. And and again quite a difference real quick not to get too far off of woodworking uh outdoorsman’s comment. Brewers six for nine with runners in scoring position this evening. So again, that’s the difference in the, you know, when this team, I’m not saying you got to, you know, go 12 for 15 or you know, or something crazy, but when you have those opportunities, take advantage of them. That’s exactly tonight what what our Milwaukee Brewers did. They six for 14 is definitely going to good enough to get the job, especially when you got Freddy Peralta on the mound doing what he does. But yeah, uh Joey Ortiz is a lot like I guess where the Blake Perkins conversation can go. I guess you could tie those two together. Like if a ball is hit to Blake Perkins or Joey Ortiz, do you have any fear that that play is not going to be made? I don’t. And I that’s that’s that’s what I mean though. Like you have the guys, the offense to get the job done, right? Uh Andrew Vaughn, Bryce Terrain, Christian Yellow, William Contrera, Jackson Turo, Sal Frillic, all those guys can get the job done offensively. You have to have a couple of guys in your lineup who may not be able to provide, you know, the pop in the offense and and and the cool stuff, the cool numbers, but boy, a late game and you need a double play and it’s a hot shot up the middle or it’s a deep shot to center field. There’s not many players on this roster that I trust more than Blake Perkins and Joey Ortiz. Well, the Brewers getting the nine to two win. We’ll see if they can get a series victory tomorrow against the Angels. My thanks to each and every one of you. Thank you guys for making Lockdown Brewers part of your day each and every day. Remember, free and available wherever you guys get audio podcast, Apple, Google, Spotify, Amazon, wherever you guys get audio podcast, you can get the Locked on Brewers Postcast as well as a locked on daily with my guy Chuck Freeman. A show note tomorrow, no Brewers Postcast. We’ll pick things back up Thursday. So, no show on Wednesday. I’ll be live on the Packers uh YouTube channel for the lockdown Packers squad show uh at 7:15. So, no Brewers show tomorrow. We’ll pick things back up on Thursday. But as always, my thanks again to each and every one of you. Thank you guys for making lockdown Brewers part of your day each and every day. Brandon Wooder found the mound tomorrow. We’ll see if the Brewers can get a series victory against these Angels and lower that magic number down to six, maybe five. We’ll see what happens. Uh I don’t know if the Cubs are in action tomorrow. They should be in action tomorrow, but we’ll see if the magic number lowers the next time we talk, which will be on Thursday. Good win tonight for the Brewers. Again, a 9-2 win. My thanks as always to each and every one of you. And as always, win, lose, or draw, it is always, go Brewers. Have a good one, everyone. See you.
The Milwaukee Brewers took care of business Tuesday night, defeating the Los Angeles Angels 9–2. Freddy Peralta was dominant on the mound, firing 6 innings of one-run ball while striking out a season-high 10. Christian Yelich stayed red-hot at the plate, blasting his 29th home run of the season as the offense piled on 13 hits for the night. With the win, Milwaukee’s magic number to clinch the NL Central drops to just 7.
Brewers overall record: 92-59
Brewers record on the road: 43-32
Brewers record at home: 49-27

the figth the next 8 games.. bree cree need made 8 of 8.
Great game. We have to keep winning so Phillies don't take over #1 seed 😊
Playoff ready? No. They've lost 12 of their last 20 games against .500 or better teams. They will lose a series against the Phillies. Lose against the Cubs. Could win against the Dodgers and Padres. They have to get the #1 seed to play Dodgers/Mets winner. Otherwise they are one and done. Even so, they will lose to the Phillies/Cub winner. Go Packers.
Exactly what I was thinking Brandon, "Magic Number 7". The Cubs won't go away, lol. Doesn't matter, I'd love for Murphy to show Counsel who's boss in the postseason. Counsel's a good manager, but a C+ to B- manager. Where as Murphy is an A to A+ manager.
So Brandon Woodruff had an extra day of rest to get ready for the Angels in this upcoming game #2 against the eliminated Angels. While Woodruff is getting the extra rest, Patrick mows people down confidently out of the bullpen.
