He thinks the only prospect who will play in the first few games is Iginla, which would be exciting. I personally still think Simashev still has a good chance to make the roster. We will see. The pre-season games will be more helpful for trying some of these guys out than than the rookie showcase.

But with his size has potential. He impressed me a lot in the camp showcase last year. I could see him on the grinding line with scoring potential. I think we have a solid chance at the playoffs if the team as a whole doesn’t miss too many games due to injury.
I’d swap Tij with Carcone, and honestly that might be a big step for Tij with the time he missed last year. like you said, the pre-season games will give a much better/more fair look on the young guys. I didnt catch the rookie showcase so can’t really speak on what he looked like
i’d be surprised if one of guenther or peterka were not on the first line in schmaltz’s spot, we need the firepower spread out not taking off each other’s plates.
defense, im with you on Simashev. I think by end of year he is rotating in with the healthy scratches. rather surprised to not see Mav with the extras as well. he looked pretty solid before his injury
I would be surprised if Cooley and Hayts aren’t swapped (Cooley 1C and Barrett 2C).
And it seems to me like Peterka and Guenther on the same line are a bit redundant and wasteful. Their skill sets are similar; Why not spread the wealth?
I feel like this guy doesn’t really know what he’s talking about with those projected lines. He has Hayton as the 1C and Cooley as 2C? Huh? Did he even watch last year? Hayton is good but he is a 3C, he’s just our 2C now because we have no one else. Cooley is an obvious pick for 1C, especially being on the same line with Keller. Also he has Schmaltz on the first line instead of Gunner. The defense lines are a little better but I would still swap Maata and Schmidt.
