Justin Verlander needs his flowers

  1. We bringing him back next year?? What a turnaround.

We kept begging for him to go to the bullpen and look how he stepped it up and returned to form

Much resoect and praise to Verlander

  2. Shit I care! Was just asking myself. If he decides on another season would he even want to sign with us again?

  3. JV was getting all sorts of shit on this sub all year (mainly earlier in the year), and a lot of it was unjustified. He got lit up early in the year when the team couldn’t score any runs, and everyone on the sub was in a bad mood, which was expected. He has been very good lately, and he’s 42 years old.

  4. Poorly worded. You’re ignoring all the loses in that stretch and not counting any of the runs in those game. Verlander is the oldest player in the game. It would be crazy to bring back a 43 year old pitcher that ranks second in least run support. Also he’s auditioning for a contract with another team. Verlander will avoid pitching against the Dodgers and will face the Cardinals and Rockies. That sets him up to continue improving his stats.

  5. So just because he has a good stretch, we’re suppose to forget his horrendous start? His era is still bad.

His losses in his starts are enough to be the reason we’re out of the wild card spot right now if he had just won half of those losses

  6. Unrelated: I love flowers myself but when can we retire the “gave that man his flowers” phrase? It’s just so…fucking…ick.

  7. Verlander is 2-1 with a 1.91 era in his last 7 games, in that span he is the best Giants pitcher, the Giants show little to no run support for him.

  8. why do people keep bringing up pitcher’s W/L records? seems like a pretty useless way of evaluating a pitcher
