Condensed Game: Boston Red Sox vs Athletics – September 17, 2025

Red Sox a’s game number two. Red Sox in dire need of some offense after losing game one to a hot ace team. The Red Sox dropping at least for the moment now to the number two wildard position with just 11 games remaining to be played. Good evening everybody. Dave O’Brien alongside Will Middlebrooks and also Jamai Webster in a couple of moments. And Will, no team looks good when they’re not swinging the bats and the Red Sox certainly did not do that last night. In fact, over the last four innings, the Red Sox did not hit a ball out of the infield. Yeah, I think everybody’s starting to feel the heat around here, and it’s nights like last night that are really frustrating. You pitch well, you give up just two runs, and you can’t get a win. It’s just too many missed opportunities with runners in scoring position. That’s been the biggest issue over the last week or so. They’re five for their last 39, that’s 128 with runners in scoring position. Now, a lot of this has to do with you, right? And some of it has to do with the team’s identity changing a lot throughout the season. You lose cautious early, you trade Devers. Bregman misses a ton with injury. Now Roman Anthony out. But w with that said, the job’s got to get done regardless. And and this is three guys who’ve got to get it going if this socks offense is going to score runs. Durant’s on this list because he’s a catalyst for the club. But with Bregman and Raphaela being outs lately, they’ve left a lot of runs out there. Bregman needs to be feared again. He just hasn’t been lately. And Sadon needs to be a force to lengthen this lineup. Trevor Story hitting second tonight. Bregman back into that three hole. Just as when Garrett Crochet starts, the Red Sox turn to a veteran of Lucas Gilito to do what is needed the most. That is get a W. Red Sox a coming your way from Fenway next. Sodestrom coming off the bench and hurting the Red Sox last night. He’ll fire that one. Well struck. Sean racing back, lunges for and makes the play. How about that catch every night at the last possible second reaching out to snag this right into the wall full speed. Let’s go. Last regular season road trip and a 2-2 and a soft line drive right field that’s going to drop down base hit. Trevor Story rounds. He is in to score. The Red Sox leaded one to nothing on a base hit by Masataki Yoshida with a man at second. Well, that’s one more hit than they had with runners in score position last night. And you do it here in the first and you feel like, Arth, there’s been a lot of hard contact, couple nice plays, but you have to find a way to get one right. See that change up down? It’s actually a really good pitch. Mossa goes down there, stays through it, pulls it down the line right there for the RBI single. Big one here early. 3-1 fly ball right field. Ref. Snder gets under that, makes the catch, tagging up Butler, and he is in to score and he has tied the game. And Hayes with a sack fly to make it 1-1. And I spent my summers playing in the inter City League. Ah, here goes Ref. Snider way down the line into the corner and that is off the pole. A home run. Red Sox take the lead two to one. Ref Snider with number nine and he did a punch. I was just about to say I was on the look down see if he was giving us the punch fist. Stay fair. It’s a beautiful thing that Red Sox home run brought to you by Audi. Visit your New England Audi dealer today. And it’s so important for the Red Sox to answer as quickly as they do when they give up the tying run in the fashion that they did in the top half of the inning. So that’s a big home run by Brook. 3-2 to Butler [Music] check swing and he missed with that and it’s ball four to run is in. Blair will score and it’s a two- two game. It’s a third walk issue by the Red Sox in the inning. And that one gets Butler his 60th run batted in. Right with the bases loaded and a liner up the middle will skip knocked down. That’ll roll into left. Two runs are going to score. Kind of a half swing there, but it’s going to wind up driving in two and four to two the A’s. Rene’s coming through. He’s driven in three runs tonight and the Red Sox can’t get out of it without damage. Yeah, Wilson goes to the split. That’s what I was saying. That don’t really do him a favor. Now, it was executed. It was below the zone. He just went down and got it, but he had just been so late on the fast ball. That tire at bat. It’s a good piece of hitting. Basso’s 01. Gentle ground ball. Curts will flip. Close play. safe as the run scores. Son is in conc with a hand up and a bang bang play. They are reloaded and now a one-run game and no review. Might I call this the Masa speed game. Stolen base now beating this out. It was hit just soft enough. Kurts had Kurt stayed back on it. Boso didn’t get there nearly enough time. Up the middle through for a base hit. Here comes Lowries in to score. Durant down at third. Red Sox have tied at 44. Trevor Story the constant all season long basically at a 4-4 game. How good has Trevor Story been? I mean, really, he he was slow in May. That was it. Since then, he’s been on fire. He’s been the best hitter on this team. He’s been one of the best shorts stops in all of baseball. Two strike count. It’s a little spin down away from him. Stays through it and he doesn’t crush it, which that means it gives Nathaniel O plenty of time to score from second base. Obviously, he’s not a burner, but that’s a big run to tie this thing up. First and third, two down. Two strikes on Bregman. Here goes Story. He’s going to take second. Give him another one. 31 for 31. Second and third. So, an American League record. Stolen base attempts at the start of the season without getting caught. Everybody up now. Just need contact. Give yourself a chance. The 1-1 ball. Here comes the runner play at the plate. He slides in safe. The Red Sox win it. Eden scores. All you wanted was contact. That’s what you got. K has a hand up. The Red Sox is celebrating. K coming out. Red Sox five a four in 10 innings. The 11th walk-off win this season. Tied for the most in the majors. This thing is over. The Red Sox win it by

  1. Need extra innings not to lose 2nd game in a row to bottom dwellers and so excited about it! Scoring 5 runs in 18 innings against bottom dwellers – this is not playoff team! GROAC – get rid of Alex Cora!

  2. And Bregman wants more than 40 million! Trade him! Bregman should pay Refsnyder and story from his salary! Yesterday pitching was good – hitting disaster – today pitching garbage except 2 closers
