Who knew olines were important?

  1. Nah the Jamarr Chase pick was the right one. Failing to draft other olinemen and taking Jackson Carmen were the wrong picks/decisions. It doesn’t have to be someone as good as Sewell because our left tackle isn’t even that much of an issue. It’s our guards who are the problem.

  2. I obviously know this is a meme thread but Burrow would be getting sacked a lot with Sewell too. He takes a lot of sacks by playing in shotgun all the time. The O line with Browning grades out better than with Burrow.

  3. O-Lines are important but once again Football is a team sport. Each position is important. If the browns had a COMPETENT O-line then having who I’d argue to be the best QB in football right now with one of if not the best WR in football right now would more than carry the Bengals back to the super bowl.

However they don’t. Now you look at the Lions on the other hand and Goff is a game manager not going to light the world on fire probably throws a little more picks than I like but can do the job. However like you saw week 1 when he has a lesser O-line than he did last year having a bunch of average can’t match a bunch of good or good in specifically breaking down the o-line.

While building from the trenches to start with is arguably more important when you have the best QB in the league right now get him some weapons and watch him go off and he’ll still almost carry a carcass of a team to the Wildcards.

  4. Every time i talk about this i get downvoted, if they picked Sewell they would’ve won that superbowl

  5. I’ll never understand how these teams can look back at the last 20 years or so of successful NFL teams and decide that dumping large portions of the salary cap into the WR room is the way to go. At best, you should be trading picks for proven vet WR ringers in exchange for the other team eating the cap when the situation presents itself.

Kinda similar to RB really. Live off the draft for the most part. Augment with high dollar set pieces only when the time and sitiation is right. Otherwise, your default plan should be to pump your salary cap into QB, big men on both sides, and secondary – and in that order of priority.
