Yankees Aaron Judge is lucky his season isn’t over..

These are the little things that happen in a baseball game that could really drive you nuts. Aaron Judge hits a two out double in the first inning and is on second base. And that’s going to bring Cody Bellinger to bat. Just the other day, we saw Yordon Alvarez sprain his ankle really badly coming home because he didn’t slide and stepped on the plate. And here’s what happened. Bellinger hit a base hit to left field. Aaron Judge is coming around to score. An ondeck batter Jazz Chisum. You have one job. That is to tell the base runner to slide and which way to slide. Or if he doesn’t need to slide, you stand there with your hands up saying up, up, up. In this case, Jazz Chism does neither. He kind of stands there and spectates and Aaron Judge crosses home plate standing up. Actually, I can’t say Jazz Chisum did nothing. He did a weird arm motion signaling safe and then just kind of moves out of the way of the ball. Definitely not what you want to do when your MVP is coming home and you know how dangerous those kind of plays can be. Not trying to put Jazz Chisum on the spot here, but crossing home plate not knowing whether to slide or not and then well judges fault for stepping on the plate that scared the ever loving crap out of me. But regardless on deck hitters, make sure you’re telling that runner to slide or not to slide. Don’t be a cheerleader. [Music]

New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins

Aaron Judge scores on a Cody Bellinger single but on deck batter Jazz Chisholm didn’t tell Judge to slide, Judge steps directly on home plate just like Yordan Alvarez did.

  1. Why is home plate so smooth? Can’t it be made of different material or something? Just something that can mitigate a player from hitting his spikes wrongly and slipping on it?

  2. I'm a big Jazz fan. He also made a play in todays game that was almost impossible to believe. However. Does Jazz seem to you that he is the sharpest knife in the drawer? Not to me. The guy plays on guts and instinct and will to win as far as I can tell. So far his numbers as a Yankee are pretty good and he is a good teammate. Flashy to a fault but still my kind of player. Yes, he messed up with Judge but not intentionally. He just was a fan right there, sorry to say. 30 30 ahead as well.

  3. It’s so funny to me that Yankees fans just viscerally hate Jazz. Like, you traded for him. You WANTED HIM. He’s having the best season of his career. And I haven’t heard a single positive thing about him.

  4. This is what's frustrating about how most fans talk about Chisolm: yes he's talented but he also is very stupid more times than not. WTF was he looking at, his cleats? And of course, Bafoon will never call him on it because he's just as dumb. This is a WS team?

  5. That's Jazz after Saturday Night when they won the 2nd game against the Red Sox he opens his big mouth and says "We're the team to beat" then of course immediately lose the series finale THEN the 7-0 shutout in Minnesota…Then they almost blow a 10-1 lead Monday, and even though they won 2 out of 3 were outscored 21-20 in the series,so how are you "The Team To Beat" Jazz??? You are the team that will be beat in the first round if you even make it there.

  6. Geez. Nice catch. It's not just Jazz either, it's an epidemic around the league, that and bats left in the base path – the catcher isn't going to clear it unless it's interfering in his space.

  7. I literally said out loud "Don' test him, don't test him" as the play happened, referring to testing the outfielders arm, because I was afraid of a situation like what happened to Waldo earlier this year.

  8. Except, if he slides, he's probably out. Yes, it's dangerous to come in standing, but the act of sliding feet first, which I assume 99 would have done, most likely slows his momentum enough that the sweep tag attempt is on his shin before his foot hits home.

  9. Somebody has to talk to Jazz!! He spends half his time on the field daydreaming or doing something other than concentrating on baseball! Boone has spoken to him before, so either he or one of the players. (Judge maybe) can get his head back in the game.
