[Spotrac] The NBA does not expect to have a resolution on the Kawhi Leonard salary cap circumvention investigation until after the All-Star Game.

  1. I don’t know how Spotrac is getting this scoop but good for them I guess.

Pablo has had tunnel vision in the way he’s presented info about all of this. As he revealed yesterday, the Clippers and Ballmer were investing a lot more into Aspiration than he initially suggestion. The $50 million he first reported came way before Kawhi was even approached about a sponsorship deal, and that money was spent on other things. Causation is not the same thing as correlation. And most of the investment payments made by Ballmer and the Clippers had nothing but the most tenuous connection to the Kawhi deal.

There was zero reason for the Clippers to “circumvent” the cap anyway. Kawhi was already signed and out with a serious knee injury at the time. Aspiration had every incentive to make a deal with Kawhi, for the same reasons they promised the Clippers $300 million in sponsorship money, because they were trying to scam Ballmer into investing even more or outright buying the company.

The NBA will cover all their bases and eventually find that the Clippers did nothing wrong here. It’s just going to take time, unfortunately. And the haters and losers who have nothing in their lives but believing Pablo’s fantasy narrative won’t go away anytime soon.

  2. Why does the salary cap even exist? What’s stopping any player from taking money under the table? This way players can force themselves to whatever team with whatever players and the one thing that small markets have in the supermax, doesn’t even work.

  3. I feel like this event completely opened my eyes as to how corrupt the league is. I don’t want to believe it but it’s staring everyone in the face

  4. So basically the clippers have till the break to decide if they can win a chip or not with Kawhi

  5. Man, I just want this shit to be over. Fine, suspend, void contracts, whatever. Just be done with it.

  6. What are the chances the AS Weekend gets pulled to another city? And worse yet, it stays in LA but to Cryp?

  7. It’s so clear that the NBA isn’t going to find enough to do any form of major punishment, they know that focus will die when games start and then they will announce either a slap on the wrist or no punishment shortly after the all star weekend

  8. Ngl it’s pretty sick to see how some of the fans here were so quick to get on the Ballmer blame train. Some of you have no idea how bad it was when Sterling was here. We protested games wearing black shirts to games, clippers logos inside out, calling for his departure.

Then we get someone who cares so much about our team, spends his own money to build a stadium for the fans, and does everything he can to support the community. And this is how some of you treat him??

Some of guys don’t deserve to be Clippers fans, honestly. You don’t know what bad truly is. And if what Ballmer has done is bad, I will take bad all and every day of the week.

  9. Wondering if they just hope the news will die down by then and everyone forget about it. Or, maybe they knkw there is going to be punishment and dont want it to be awkward at the asg, or bad pr for it.

  10. why not just come out and say this arrangement is permitted and owners are allowed to use it in the future. let the new age of player empowerment begin lol
