Im not sure what Reid and Veach were thinking this past offseason, but the notion that 2 middling, below-average runners, running behind an oline that wasn’t very good last season with run blocking and didn’t improve much this season, in a offensive scheme that relies on very athletic runners with great speed & vision seems lacking heavily in foresight.
This is due to the continued use of the RPO. Lineman aren’t pushing downfield because they don’t know if it’s a run or pass. Scheme needs a changin’!
The RB situation has really spiraled out of control. Pacheco has looked slow coming back from his injury last year and he wasnt quick to begin with. Plus the lack of vision. Hunt is ancient in RB years. Breshard Smith is a *very* raw rookie.
Part of the problem is the Chiefs see like north of 80 percent light boxes is because 1. Other teams know Andy is allergic to running the ball and 2. The people we have running the ball arent very good at running the ball. Thats also why Patrick is the leading rusher.
Might as well try Brashard Smith at this point. I doubt he’d be any better down to down, but he should be able to rip one off once in a while.

our RB’s suck, but also our run scheme sucks. We run way too many RPOs even though they’ve been declining league-wide for years, have a low rate of explosive play, and the Chiefs personally kinda suck at them.
People think we’re just 1-2 players from looking perfect, but a lot of our offensive failures the last couple years are because of scheme and play-calling.
It ain’t good. I’ll tell you that. The team can revamp the offense now or risk potentially missing the playoffs
QB scrambles do not equal RB runs unless all the QB runs were designed.
