Ok McGrady, Shaq was past his prime when he was with the Heat. He averaged 13.6 points in the Finals—Wade averaged 35, carrying that team by himself.

  1. Don’t have to be Kobe to play with Shaq and win a chip? Someone remind this dude Wade pulled off a harder carry job in the 06 finals than Kobe ever did in any series in his life.

  2. I get that Tracy McGrady is trying to defend himself for not having a ring, but don’t bring Wade into it just because you couldn’t get out of the first round.

  3. It’s always the players with no postseason success that try to downplay everything. Lmao bro blew a 3-1 lead and couldn’t get out of the first round

  4. Point was that an All NBA guard who isn’t Kobe was able to get a ring w/ Shaq, so why is it crazy to think McGrady also could? The fact that this wasn’t even prime Shaq validates the point further.

  5. T-Mac ain’t on Wade’s level either. T-Mac is someone who doesn’t have jack shit but a highlight. He arguably has the worst playoff resume ever. This dude talking a lot about championships for someone who couldn’t even make it out the first round

  6. “I dont need to be the SECOND best shooting guard of all time to win a ring with Shaq! I just need to be the THIRD!” Maybe top 10 dumbest takes I’ve heard related to sports OAT.

  7. Shaq was past his prime, but he was absolutely the second best player on the team and a vital part of that championship. If he’s not there we probably don’t win.

  8. Tracy McGrady is rewriting history no one ever said that Kobe was the most athletically gifted player in the history of the world everybody says that Kobe was the hardest worker and that’s true Colby was infinitely more successful than every single one of his peers because he outworked them.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard Kobe Bryant had an extremely high aptitude with limited physical abilities. More physical abilities than say Chris Paul but not the physical abilities of Vince Carter…

On top of the physical abilities the high aptitude which is a mind that understood basketball and an ego that wasn’t too big to be a student he also had a dogged work ethic.

Tracy McGrady wants to say he had a phenomenal amount of physical abilities, great! No one ever debated that we all agree you had a phenomenal level of physical abilities. The problem was you did not have a dogged work ethic and you did not have a high mental aptitude for the game. You had every opportunity and did not win a playoff series. You know who had a higher amount of physical ability than Tracy McGrady Shaquille O’Neal but he couldn’t win it without Kobe either. When Shaq went to Miami in a supporting role and put up less 20 ppg in the regular season and 18.4 in the playoffs to win a championship, that’s Wade’s story not Shaq’s.

Every single player besides Michael Jordan who played with or against Kobe Bryant was less successful than Kobe Bryant not because of Kobe Bryant’s physical abilities because of his mind for the game and his relentless work ethic which translated to unstoppable will in a game unbreakable confidence that delivered more often than anyone else’s did.

Look at the 2004 Western Conference first round between the Lakers and the rockets Yao put the clamps on chat Great Wall of China’d his ass to the tune of 16ppg Kobe brought it through with 29ppg. McGrady had his chances to win a playoff series we don’t want to look back at what Kobe leading the Lakers to a sweep of the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.

Not T-Mac not Penny Hardaway not Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones. Shaq needed a guy who was a self-starter who was not only going to push himself to work harder than everyone but also put a foot in shaq’s ass when he started to whine and cry T-Mac would have been too busy whining and crying on his own to try to motivate anybody else and let’s not forget about Kobe’s all NBA defense because he wasn’t just relentless on the offensive side of the ball T-Mac was unserious because he was so gifted just like Shaq maybe if he played with Kobe some of that would have rubbed off on him and he would have learned to be a winner.

  9. Sorry Tracey but you ain’t half of what was was. You couldn’t even pass the first round. Go fuck yourself and your empty ass stats

  10. It’s a shame he feels the need to say things like this or defend his resume. T Mac was a great player who unfortunately spent too many years in Orlando and then got very unlucky with health in Houston, and not just his own but Yao’s health. Both missed over 100 games in the 5+ years they were together, and only two times were they both healthy and playing for the playoffs. Every other year but those two, one of them went out for the season injured, often missing 20+ games.

If they stayed healthy, anything is possible, but they didn’t.

  11. This is the revisionist history that annoys me. Anybody that watched the Miami heat at that time would know that shaq wasnt that big of a factor. It was mostly wade carrying that team and Alonzo dont get enough credit for bailing Shaq out in the finals.
