  1. I still wanted us to draft someone just in case Pacheco never fully returns to form. Trade time

  2. His running is totally fine. His VISION is fucking appalling. He averaged 5 carries for 25 yards vs the Chargers and we stopped using him because his runs could’ve been so much more.

  3. This sounds a lot like bullshit. How can they possibly not know that IP runs with no vision? He’s always ran like that!

  4. Really hard to be surprised that UDFA RBs, aged FA RBs, and 7th round backs aren’t the answer.

    Weird.

  5. The bigger problem here is that they thought this wouldn’t be the case. What were they seeing in camp? There’s simply no way Pacheco has great vision in camp and suddenly can’t see any holes or blockers.

  6. Anybody who likes to throw out that coaches always know what they’re doing or “well they know more than you” insinuating that you shouldn’t question them, we should put a pin in this note and use it as a reference.

Do they know more about football than us? Of course. Are the fallible and make evaluation mistakes too? You bet. So many people here, including myself, did not like the run it back plan with Old & Washed as the 1-2.

And then to go through the deepest RB class in decades where I was claiming they need to draft 2 RBs only to wait until the end of the 7th to do it, well…. I mean what more do you need to see.

The only thing that can save them now is if Smith turns out to be okay (of which I like his athleticism & ability to make people miss), but they seem really slow on pulling the trigger to see what the kid has.

They’ve just messed up this RB situation really bad and it shows.

Amazing. Probably the position that touches the ball the most outside of the QB and the Chiefs seemingly just don’t care about RB until right now when it’s a problem.

  7. I’ve never minded Pacheco but I def never thiught he was really the guy. He hustles and if tough as nails but he’s not fast and doesn’t hit holes or allow them to develop

  8. The running calls are shit. So is the run blocking. What’s there to be puzzled about? Hunt and Pop are getting hit in the backfield or at the line. There’s no room to get going. They are so focused on pass block that run block goes to the wayside.

Pat runs work because of space. It’s not like he’s breaking full on tackles behind LOS.

Also, for everyone saying Pop is a slow power back. No. That’s stupid. He’s NEVER been a power back. He’s always had speed. But it’s not instant acceleration. He needs space to get going and he’s not getting that. Maybe he’s not quite as fast post injury but it’s been hard to tell bc he’s getting butt blasted in the backfield on the handful of carries they give him.

Also, the run play calling has just been lukewarm ass. Shotgun hand-off on 4th and 1 to Hunt?

    What. The. Fuck.

Pop has never been a good goal line back because the Chiefs are not a good goal line team. And they give up on the run WAY TOO EARLY.

I’d rather see Chiefs at 1st and 10 on the 25 rather than 1st and goal, that’s how shitty they’ve been in the RZ the last few years. 15 won’t throw jump balls to anyone but Kelce and even those he stopped doing after the INT year. He wants every ball low as shit, which is hard to catch in a scrum.

Every time Reid shits the bed on offense is bc the Chiefs abandoned the run too early and refuse to go back to it.

Chiefs need run blocking discipline and to bring back the fullback or get Tonyan and Gray involved in run push. It’s not like they throw to Gray anyway, even though he’s proven to have reliable hands.

TLDR; Run blocking sucks. Play calling has been bad. They’re not giving Pop enough chances to get going. He needs space to accelerate. Always has. Chiefs red zone offense hasn’t been good since Nagy came back.

If Chiefs lose to Giants, and Reid refuses to run the GD football, this team needs an exorcism.

  9. That’s what happens when you have little vertical threat and the box is loaded. In the Chargers game Derwin James spent the entire game at linebacker

  10. From what I’ve heard and seen from the film breakdowns. Our run blocking is absolutely atrocious and a majority of the plays are just getting blown up. He still has some bad decision making sometimes but it’s not entirely on him.

Also swapping Hunt and Pacheco back and forth so much is not allowing either of them to get into a rhythm.

  11. I’m strangely sanguine about this season – we’ve been on a good run and I’ve felt like a reset year was coming for at least two years now. Plus we played like doo doo for two weeks and could have won both.

But if the reporting is correct here, this has me worried. This is a systematic inability to diagnose the obvious between coaches and front office.

  12. He fractured his leg last year.

Even if he’s physically 100%, it’s going to be a while before he totally trusts his own body again.
