Marlins vs. Rockies Game Highlights (9/18/25) | MLB Highlights

Gordon on the mound. Rockies with the sweep in Miami knew they would have at least a split of the season series. They want to win the season series and that means they need to come up with a win here this afternoon. 32 is sent in the air to shallow left Bec and Carros in fair ground avoided a collision. They might have brushed against each other. Kyle somehow held down to the ball to get the out swing and a miss got him with a changeup. A 123 top of the first for Tanner Gordon. No scores. The Rockies come to Sandy Alcon here today UNI is making his 30th start of the season in his sixth career start against Colorado. He doesn’t do very well here in Colorado, he’s got an over 70 R A. The ground out does advance Freeman 90 ft closer. He’s at third early trouble for sandy Altra and here is hunter Goodman, one of the best offensive catchers in baseball, 98 on the lower outside edge, a called third strike and he locked up Goodman and there are two men gone on. Sandy’s first punch out 14 strikes and two balls pounding the strike zone here early is cut on and missed. He swept his slider across the plate. Sandy strains him in at third with a couple of punch outs and two quick outs look like a routine ground ball 1st and 2nd 2 outs. Rollins are trying to make Kyle Carros pay for the two out error at third. We got a little situation with Dan Myers coming up was zero for one last night. He’s one for five in the series. Dane hitting 232 on the year to a line shot into center that drops in for a base hit. They’re sending Wags and moniak throw back into second Eric wag the speed demon in from second base RB I single for Dane Myers and the Fish open scoring. It’s one in the top of the second and just like with yesterday’s ball game doing it with two outs. Really nice to see back at first base is Crim the number six spot in the order today for Warren Scerri hit down the line and deep. If it’s fair, it’s gone and it is, it’s gone into the tunnel, Dwayne trim with his second home run in a Rockies uniform. First hit cornfield ties the ball game at one here in the second inning. Five different times in the minors. Blane Crim has hit more than 20 homers in a season for a four pitch walk after the hit batsman cars down to second, Fernandez at first and that will go back to the top of the order. And Tyler Freeman, you want to know why has been a good pitcher. He said three at bats with men in scoring position. All the outs have been strikeouts. Freeman. It’s a base hit being waved in. He is going to score on the first pitch at 98 mile an hour. Fastball. Tyler freeman puts the Rockies out in front RB I single two to one. Colorado. Another nice round number for Augustine. 30 doubles on the season. Augustine at second. Here’s liam Hicks struck out in the first and Liam swings and he lifts one in the air deep to right center field. Freeman’s going back. He’ll give it a look and it’s gone. Liam Hicks with a two run homer. Gives the Marlins the lead here in the third. Oh boy, he got the fastball. It was down and in, he dropped the barrel to the baseball hits it 101 miles an hour. 411 ft. Here’s Otto Lopez rounded out to third his first time up in the air to left center field way back and Then the Marlins go back to back here in the third. It’s 4 to 2, Miami and yes, indeed. It is carrying a little bit here today. Lopez can’t leave Colorado hit this 15th of the year. Lane crim leads off the bottom of the fourth two. His cut on and missed good change up from Sandy. And since that wishy washy second inning five in a row, retired by swing and a fly ball right side slicing away and it’s going to end up just brushing against the netting. And the right fielder Johnston saw it hit the netting, it hit the top of the side wall and bounced up in the air and he grabbed it and showed it to em, Jimenez. Like, hey, I caught this. You don’t get credit for the bounce. A 42 ball game with the Marlins on top of the Rockies in the home fourth Fernandez who walked his first time cut on and missed upstairs gas at 98. Yanqui swung underneath that. That’s a 123 inning with a couple of punch outs for Altra. Here is Johnston zero for one with a walk and a ground out to second Gordon looking for a 123 inning ground ball right side diving grab made by Ritter gets up and throws to first base to get the outs good play by the rookie second baseman Ryan Ritter and a good inning for Tanner Gordon. A 123 totally settled in by the way, Sandy has set down the last 12 hitters that he’s seen. There are two men gone in the home six and by the way, sandy contra working with a 42 lead, 84 pitches that one popped up sky high on the infield. Second baseman so called off by Otto step on the outfield grass. He makes the catch and the inning is over. Settled in. He settled in Jacob Marcy. Legs it out. That is an infield single and now it’s Augustine with that made it a nine game hitting streak, 30 doubles, 20 homers, 10 stolen bases in a single one pitch. That one opposite field shot out to right and deep Freeman is back. He’s looking up and play it off the top of the wall with two men gone. Marcy was on the move. He gets the stop sign at third base and that is double number 31 on the year for ramirez. Two men gone runners at 2nd and 3rd infield shifting Liam Hicks to pull Hicks batting 310 with two outs and runners in scoring position. This hicks bounces one through the left side for a base hit. Marcy will score. Here comes August no throw to the plate. Two more RBS for Hicks this season with two outs and men in scoring position and the Marlins lead 6 to 2 that hit by Tyler freeman with two outs in the second was the last baserunner for the Rockies two outs. Now in the seventh 15 consecutive that he has retired two outs and Fernandez is the hitter Hernandez walked and struck out today against the veteran and that one hit deep to right field. This one is long gone. It’s going to hit the back of the Rockies Fernandez with a home run that stops a string of 15 straight retired by Contra and the Rockies get a big run back six to three. Miami, the two out rally in the top of the inning by Miami Looms even larger now, so does not seven innings, but it is a fabulous effort here from sandy on this Thursday afternoon in Denver. A single and he advances to second on E four, a runner in scoring position. Troy Johnson swinging away line drive, center field in the base hit. Wageman is going to score from second and the Marlins get a run right back. 7 to 3. Now RB I for Troy Johnson number 11 and it’s not going to be liam Hicks to get a shot either. It’s going to be Hernandez Roberto two for four in the series with an RB I and a couple of walks as he sends one high in the air to deep left center field way back and gone. That’s a pinch hit two run home run for Berto hernandez to blow this one out of reach here in the ninth. Marlins are teeing off today. Home run number nine on his year and a two run shot makes it 93 in the top of the ninth. Blane. Crem will lead it off. Blane had a home run back in the second inning one for three sends a fairly deep left field going back myers on the track it’s out of here on a tough day for the Rockies lane crim getting a chance as a 28 year old to finally be in the big leagues hits his third homer in six games one out man in scoring position for ryan Ritter. Ryan Ritter zero for two with a was sliced down the right side just inside the line. Fernandez comes home on the RB I double by Ryan Ritter. It’s 95, Miami as the Rockies flip the lineup. So two outs now with Ritter at third, Mickey Moniak, the hitter , mickey doubled his last time up leading off the eighth inning. 32 pitch to moniak is sent to deep center field Marcy looking up, it’s gone. Nicky Modi has hovered again his 24th, a two run shot. The touch of all time makes it a 9 to 7 game and Clayton mccullough is going to have to go bullpen all of a sudden the tying run is coming to the plate. Here is Jordan Beck one big swing could tie it here in the ninth chopper fos got it. That’s going to do it. Calvin Foer saves the day for the Marlins here in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Rockies get four but the Marlins have swept Colorado and they take him down in game three by a final score of 9 to 7.

  1. Valente Bellozo took the mound for the first time in a while today, but he was in a terrible mood, giving up only four runs. Will he be demoted back to the minor leagues? Or do you think he'll be used as a relief pitcher again from tomorrow onwards?

  2. The Marlins are trending in the right direction as the sun sets on their 2025 season. But if they are going to continue making strides forward in ’26, they’ll need their former ace to regain the form he had when he won the National League Cy Young Award in ’22. Sandy Alcantara has looked more like his 2022 self recently, and that continued in Thursday afternoon’s 9-7 win over the Rockies at Coors Field to cap a series sweep and Miami’s seventh victory in eight games. The right-hander went 6 2/3 innings at the most hitter-friendly venue in the Majors — and a place where Alcantara has historically struggled, with a 7.56 ERA over three previous starts. He gave up three runs on five hits and two walks to go with eight strikeouts. He owns a 2.70 ERA over seven starts since Aug. 15.
