  1. So is Pat the bad guy in this situation or is McTravish being stubborn? Because all afternoon I’ve been hearing how Pat had 20 weeks or 5 months to get this handled when the same could be said for McTravish as well as his camp could’ve reached a deal by now. Also as a new can I have to ask, is McTravish actually worth what he’s asking for or is Pat making a move that’s best for the overall team and not one specific player?

  2. Zero sense that he gives the slightest f*** when McTavish signs, or even *if* he signs. He shows no urgency or understanding of the importance to get a young player into camp in a year the team has a brand new coaching staff, new linemates for him and new systems for all phases of the game. McTavish has already missed 5% of Training Camp, will miss another 5% tomorrow and will not play in the preseason game on Sunday. He learned nothing from the Zegras and Drysdale fiascos of two years ago and for a guy that claims he wants the team to make the playoffs this season he’s got a funny way of going about it. Seems like he’s more concerned about the teams salary ledger this season.

Yes, McTavish and his agent are also to blame and a part of this but Verbeek said it himself – he wants to pay fair market value. That’s great. Where’s that approach when you signed Killorn? Or when you didn’t make the Rangers retain a cent of Trouba’s contract?

The Devils have $5.21m in cap space. It makes sense why they’d have a tough time getting Luke Hughes signed. The Ducks have over $20m in cap space. It makes *no sense* why this is not already done.

Every shift that someone else spends as the 2nd line center is a wasted shift because that’s not where they’ll play all season long. Rather than McTavish learning the new systems *with* his teammates and learning the tendencies *of* his teammates he’s working out with teenagers in Canada.

    Verbeek is trash.

  3. Looks like McTavish’s agent is Pat Morris who is also Ryan Strome’s agent that negotiated his 5x$5M contract.

Does it strike anyone else that maybe Verbeek isn’t that good at negotiating?
