“He’s fast, he’s elusive, he’s a jitterbug and he’s also a passer first,” Saleh told reporters on Thursday. “He’s not just looking to run. He’s looking to buy some time to be able to put the ball in the air. He’s as challenging as it gets.”

Murray’s record against those Saleh-led squads doesn’t quite line up with the production, though, with Arizona 1-3 in the four games.

  1. ‘Ol Bob Saleh is a legit D coordinator, so it’s nice to hear he respects Kyler. We beat the brakes off those boys the final game last year, 24-47. Kyler went 25/35 and 4 TD’s. Interested to see how SF game plans for him this time around with Saleh back at the helm now.

  2. Really if you just stay disciplined with your pass rush and don’t overcommit on the edge, that’s Murray’s biggest weakness imo. If you make him feel pressure but he can’t run directly left or right, you don’t need to bull rush him because he will stop focusing on being a QB. He doesn’t like stepping into the pocket and can often run backwards trying to get around the rusher. Eventually the interior pressure will get there regardless if he doesn’t try and escape.

I’m a Murray supporter but just being honest, although I was happy to see that one play where he did start running forward but saw that it opened up McBride for an easy first down. That was the type of play he wasn’t making previous years that the best mobile QBs do.
