Either way, I feel like its going to come down the frickin last out of the season and all of those “shoulda won” games are going to haunt us.
I would rather play cubs/brewers and let dodgers play the Phillies
eh that would suck if we don’t win the division but it doesn’t guarantee postseason performance. i always think about the 2023 world series where two wild card teams made it to the world series. they just need to make the playoffs
Padres have given up 13 first inning home runs in the last month. I don’t have a ton of confidence in that pitching staff right now.
I’d love to see them come alive right in time for October though!
They should do the opposite. Suarez or Miller in 1st inning and go from there , starters throwing BP in 1st
We’ve been a .500 team since the 14-3 start. The division was essentially lost when we went 1-5 against the Twins/Orioles. Let’s just hope they remain healthy and don’t blow out another reliever.
We’re 2 games behind, so we just need to win 3 more games than the Dodgers to take the division.
We’re 5 games ahead in the WC race. So with 10 games left, we need to win at least 6 to clinch.
Im really over my hope that we’ll finish ahead of them. Im more focused on just clinching a playoff spot. Magic number is 4.

I’ve always hated math, and this math is no exception.
I think it’s time to focus on managing the bullpen use to keep the top guys fresh and making sure the rotation is lined up for the wildcard round.

Best they stop shooting for the division. Just play good, clean baseball down the stretch and get ready for the WC series in Chicago. And if the division magically falls in their lap, sweet. But right now all signs point to Wrigley in the first round.
Here’s some math. If the Padres just went 7-8 against Seattle, Minnesota, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and New York. They’d be in first place.

If you think we will go into Chicago and sweep the White Socks, think again. We are horrible against the AL and we are horrible in away games.
So in all likelihood we will be playing the Cubs in Chicago. Again, we stink in away games so our chances are slim.
