NBA LIVE! Los Angeles Lakers vs New Orleans Pelicans September 19, 2025 | 2025 NBA Season Live 2K
to get out and run the floor. Oh yeah, this pace is going to be incredible. Our heads will literally be on a swivel tonight, uh, Kevin, and we’re going to see a lot of plays in transition and maybe a lot of turnovers as well. Well, we’re buckled in either way. Let’s take a look at the strongest for New Orleans. Murray out there with Jordan P and Williamson. Then there’s Trey Murphy and it’s Ni in at the five spot. A crossover and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. That one on eight. Uh Greg, it’s not the first skill you think about, but Jordan P is unreal at the foul line. I mean, led the league in 22 at 92 1.5% beating out teammate Steph Curry by 2/10 of a percent. Who’s always been amongst the league leaders in attempts? And the first one at the line is good. And you can never really count out these Los Angeles Lakers, Greg, can you? No, I I I really don’t think you can. They they battle out of the playin tournament. They overcome obstacles and they have tremendous willpower. All free throws good from D. Well, he’s been very good at the line and we all know free throws can make or break you in the end. Reeves outside. Murray against Donic. Pass to Eaton. Back to Donic. Pulls from the top of the key. Pelicans with the rebound. And that’s what he wants back. just wide open but not able to connect that time. [Music] Murray against Hatche Murray [Music] now. Pool just five on the clock and the rejection by Eaton and using that wide reach to reject shots. A can’t afford to blow up weak stuff around the big [Music] [Music] tries yet again and he sinks the layup. Well, when you have a scorer as skilled as he is, you do everything you can to get him the looks he needs. And a short break in the action gives us a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge. Hey Kevin, briefly spoke with JJ Reick. We got to talking about Jordan P and how you deal with a player like him. Coach smiled and said, “We want to be as disruptive for him as possible. Anything we can do to prevent him from getting into a rhythm, we’ll do it. Keeping pool off balance is the plan here, guys. Thank you, David. [Music] Reeves outside. Pass to Hatchim. [Applause] [Music] Murray against Donic. Launches a three. That doesn’t go either for Donic. The Pelicans have gone two of five here, making 40% so far to start out the game. Cool with it. There’s the three. They get it back. A shot by Macy. No good. [Music] Lakers trail by four. James the pass to Reeds. Donic. The shot is good off the backboard. And when Luca sees the mid-range open up, he takes the shot. Keeping things simple. And so it’s Willie Green here calling timeout. He wants to talk to his guys. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat up here. [Music] [Music] First quarter of play. We’re about 3 minutes in. [Applause] As Deni Here’s P. James defending. P kicks to Williamson. Gets the three-pointer to fall. Well, when Zion is hitting jumpers, it it’s almost unfair. They’ve been looking out of sync offensively. Yeah, that their offense has ground to a standstill. Back to Reeves and it’s out of bounds to the Pelicans. Well, it shows you how crucial communication is. They clearly weren’t on the same page there. [Music] [Music] Pelicans leading by five and it’s Williamson missing. LeBron outside off target with his three and so it’s Williams and with it he brings it up for the Pelicans. New Orleans moving it around [Applause] near the three-point line. It’s cool. Rebounds gone 03 from three-point land. Nothing yet going outside. Took him no time at all on that one. Donic has got seven points. And it’s so hard to take away a three from Donic. He needs very little space and if you press up on him, he’ll go right around you. Pool against Reeves. Just five to shoot for three. Murray and the Pelicans miss again. Los Angeles is gone. Just one of four from three-point ranger in the first. LeBron with a screen on Cool. Reeves. That’s a two-pointer. No good. That would have tied it. Well, the analytics don’t like it, but if the defense has given it up, I like that shot selection despite the Murray. Good. And look at Murray’s mechanics making that corner three look easy. And here’s Tic from the ars. It’s rebounded by New Orleans. Pass to Pool. Here’s Mishi. Williamson up top. [Applause] [Music] Here’s Mishi. No scoring in this one for three. Murray. LeBron grabs the miss. Lakers trail by five. [Applause] [Music] Pass to Reeds. Yes, that’s LeBron picking up the assist. LeBron’s got three assists now in this one. And this is who James is, a guy who’s always looking to pass it and involve his teammates. And so it’s Willie Green here calling timeout, looking for a breather. And maybe just one or two things to talk about. [Music] Heat up here. [Music] And the Lakers making a change here. Vanderbilt’s checked in. [Music] New Orleans in the lead now. Here’s P. [Music] [Applause] [Music] puts up a deep three with the rebound. Los Angeles has gotten just two of six to fall from three-point range so far in this defensively stand. The Pelicans look to try and switch as much as they can. Yeah, Kevin. And it makes sense with their personnel. It can mean reduced minutes for traditional centers at times, but that’s the defensive philosophy they’ve committed to. Murray down low guarded by Donic. Donic against Murray. It’s held in by Donic for Los Angeles. They’ve gone just a shade under 50% of the field. Five of 11. And that one good. Guys, you never know what you’ll see when you’re watching Luca Nage. His offensive creativity is through the roof. [Music] Pool against Reeves. And here is P. It doesn’t go for him. And there hasn’t been anything easy for him in this period. Well, the offense has to look for ways to get him easier shots, better selections. You have to be set up for success. Back to Donic and the double of Donic [Applause] on deep breeds. Pelicans with the rebound. Macy’s got rebound number seven for him tonight. Murray scanning the floor. [Music] Williamson outside. misses and the dry spell continues for Los Angeles. They’ve gone six of 13 from the field just under the 50% mark. Payton finds Vanderbilt. Now James Lakers working the ball around now. No one near Reeves as he lets it go. The shot’s good on the assist by Donic. Excellent addition. The Rock. Luca with a nice feed. Pelicans throw by five. Guys are looking for a spark here. Yeah, a cold stretch offensively for sure. Murray dishes to Williamson. I tell you what, he earned his money on that foul. in a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for the Lakers. Well, the coaching staff’s game plan is very clear. Move the ball on the perimeter and shoot the shots with no hesitation. And something else that’s working for them is ball movement. A lot of their points so far have come as a result of smart plays. The first free throw is good. Stan, you know, every team wants those three and D wing types. This Pelicans team is loaded with them. Yeah, Kevin, they love those type of guys. Long, athletic guys who can defend and they either come in being able to shoot the three or they develop them into three-point shooters and it shows in the numbers. Last year they were fourth in three-point percentage, seventh in defensive rating. Those are keys. And he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. You know, it’s inevitable that a player’s physical abilities diminish over the course of a career. But the thing that stands out to me about LeBron James is that he never lost his insatiable drive to win. Guys, if anything, he’s gotten stronger. Super two. [Music] and he makes the first. The feel LeBron has for the game. Unreal. Whatever situation he finds himself in, he always seems to have an answer. And the Pelicans making a change here. Baves checked in and both free throws good for LeBron. Here’s Alvarado. Pass the bay. Back to Alvarado. And again, New Orleans has no luck. And here’s the Lakers. They’re on a 17-7 run. Here’s LeBron up and in on the lay. And the Lakers lead by eight. And making it look easy. LeBron overwhelms the defense inside [Music] Bay. There’s the pick. Shot clock at six. Connects from three-point range. And guarding him on the perimeter isn’t a priority for them right now, but if this continues, it will be. Now here’s LeBron. It’s stolen by Jones and it’s Elvarado missing. That’s a surprise. I mean, really out of character for him to miss when the defense is not right up on. Well, he saw the defender back and he got the look he liked from three and capitalized. [Music] Alvarado passes to Bane. Back to Elvarado. inside. It’s good for a second make. He’s made two or three so far. Well, he had just enough breathing room to sink that layup. The defense was there, but not quick enough. [Music] Outside James back to Donic. Let it go with a three. Offensive rebound. Super work on the boys. They really want to put their foot down on them now. Yeah. And once you got him on the ropes, Greg just keep swinging away. Yeah. This is the spot where coaches want you to be relentless. Don’t even give them a glimpse of it. It’s hauled in by Los Angeles. No one to blame on that one but himself. You get looks like that, you’ve got to take advantage. On Jed passes to LeBron down low and stolen by Bane [Music] outside Jones. Shot clock at five to the paint. No block shot. Tried to bank it in, but he misses. Now here’s Donic T right on him. A chance to extend the lead to double digits, but it’s no good. They passes to Alvaro over Hayes. It’s been all about Luca Donuch. He comes away with 11 points in the quarter and is showing no signs of fatigue. We’ll return shortly. [Music] [Music] And hope you’ve enjoyed the broadcast so far. We’re halfway through the first half in this one and taking a look at the Lakers performance here. What have they been doing or not doing in the game? Yeah, in that first period, they look to push in transition at every opportunity. Yeah, they gave the other team no time to breathe. Every time they got the ball, they were off to the races. And you see how effective this aggressive mindset can be. Pelicans trail by eight. He’s out there with Jared Vanderbilt. Then it’s connect. Then it’s Austin Reeds. And it’s Smart in at the one. That’s who’s in the game for the Lakers. [Music] Pass to Alberado. Williamson up top. Vanderbilt defending. And it’s Williamson missing. Lakers lead by eight. And it’s the Lakers on the break. And dunk by Vanderbilt. And you like to see that from connect found the man with a better look. The Lakers have had two chances at the line already making them both. Baze checked in for New Orleans. [Music] Find the length. Find the length. Good shot. As a junior college product, Tolton Ketra didn’t have a traditional path to the NBA. Yeah, Kevin spent two years at a JC, two more at a small division one program, then used his extra year of eligibility to transfer to Tennessee. And there he became a first team all-American and turned himself into a firstround pick. And while we’ve got a moment, let’s send it over to our terrific reporter, David Aldrich. David, Kevin, the Pelicans are putting the ball in Zion Williamson’s hands. He said, “I’m just playing chess within the game, seeing how the defense is guarding me. I’m going to pick my spots. My teammates trust me to make the right decision, but they also trust me to be me when that time is right. Kevin, I’ll let you be you.” And I love when you are you, David. Thank you so much. Stolen by Reeves. Smart kicks to Hayes and it’s to [Music] left side Jones. And now approaching two minutes of action here in the second quarter. Jones sets the pick for Williamson. Driving in over Vanderbilt and it’s Williamson missing. Lakers leading by nine. Pass to Vanderbilt outside. Smart. It’s deflected. [Music] Charity strike shot. The shot’s good. Reeves with it. Six points for him. And here in the second quarter of action with a hair under two and a half minutes played so far. [Music] Mr. Williamson and the call on the shot that sends him to the line. Right. One of the best assets of Zion Williamson is his versatility and the combination of power and skill. It’s obviously unique. And what I love about him is he’s making better and better decisions. He’s become as reliable as he is explosive. [Music] [Music] [Music] That free throw no good. And Stan, while in New Orleans, you had a chance to coach Zion Williamson. Now, I’ve heard you talk about him before, but what’s something special about Zion that maybe the average fan doesn’t see? Well, Kevin, that’s a great question because I think what happens a lot of times with Zion, his athleticism is so exceptional that it’s hard not to watch and focus on that. But Zion is both very, very smart and a very unselfish player. Nothing makes him happier than an assist to a teammate. That’s a terrific assessment. Hayes with the screen for misses the three. [Music] Williamson the pass to Alvaros. [Music] Reeves against Williamson and he makes that one. Williamson’s got six points. That’s going to be a differencemaking shot for Zion if he can dial that in. And JJ Reick is called timeout. He wants to check in with his team and regroup. This league stand is so deep with talent. Are there any players who you think get overlooked in the conversation? That’s a great question, Kevin. I mean, there are some guys who I think get underrated because they play with other guys who are so talented and draw the attention. One guy that I have really seen lately that I think has been better than people think is Grayson Allen. The best three-point shooter or one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA and a very underrated defender. And he’s evolving, isn’t he? Looks like he’s working on other parts of his game, but he’s always been able to shoot, which has been his calling card. And he’s a much more athletic guy than people give him credit for. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] James check in for the Lakers. [Music] Hatchima kicks to eight. Reeves outside. [Music] James sets the screen for Reeves. That ball is in the basket. Now he’s shot six and made three of them. Just under three and a half minutes played here in the second quarter. [Music] Here’s Alvarado guarded by Smart. Here’s Robinson. And that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. And you have to admire how hard Zion plays. It makes defenders nervous and forces them to overcommit. Pelicans shooting their seventh and eighth attempts at the foul line tonight. [Music] First free throw is good. And when he’s healthy, Zion is a force, an athletic freak who makes an impact on both ends. [Music] and both free throws good for Williamson. Closing in on four minutes played here in the second quarter. Pass to Hayes. Back to Smart. Reeves with it. He’s covered by Murray. Knocked loose and stolen by Murray. Agado with it. Here’s Mishi. It’s blocked now. Reeds. Eight points for him. Nice ball movement here by the Lakers. Here’s Hashimo. Back to LeBron. Down to five on the shot clock. 14 ft away. Pelicans with the rebound. Williamson’s got his fifth rebound right now in the game. Alvarado with it. Pass to Ni. [Music] Murray outside. Good on the three-point shot. Murray’s got six. And this coaching staff wants Murray to be the shot caller. Let him run the pick and roll and just make things happen. [Music] James in the post on Jones. That one goes in. I mean, the number of points they’ve scored in the paint already here is eye opening. Pelicans trail by three. Here’s Williamson. Yep, that one goes in there. Williams, who’s got seven points here in this quarter. As you expect, Zion getting forceful and dominant inside. Here’s Reeds with a shot from the low post is good and the Lakers lead by three. I love the advantage he has from a speed standpoint. Does a great job of creating separation for that shot. Here’s Williamson. It’s rebounded by Hayes. Hayes has got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Now here’s Smart. Hasn’t made one yet. Tash to Hatchima [Music] and contact on the shot. So he’ll be shooting free throws here. We see coaches stand willing to pay fines for complaining about the officiating. I’m having a hard time thinking if you ever did that in my rolodex here. Did you Did you ever do that, coach? I mean, Kevin, I paid hundreds of thousands of dollars of fines in the NBA. Yeah. My wife was not real happy about that at one point reminding me early on that we had four kids we were going to try to put through college and she told me one year I just gave away two college educations. Oh goodness. Los Angeles making a switch here. Donuch has checked in. Trey Murphy’s checked in for New Orleans. Pool comes in for Jos Alvarado. No good on the second free throw. And so it’s Murray who brings the ball up for the New Orleans Pelicans. Pass to Pool to the middle. Here’s Messi in the powerful one-handed slam. Oh, just solid on the one-handed slam. And guys, when it’s a tight ball game like this, he’s the guy they want with the ball. For New Orleans, they have shot 75% of the strike, six of eight. and their numbers from the line last season. They’re good, just not great. About 77% as a team [Music] [Music] and that one misses. Lakers have gotten a little under 50% of their second quarter shots behind the mark. Four of nine also. Greg, you think about oversized point guards and the gold standard has always been Magic Johnson. Now you look at Luca Donic and he’s certainly big for that position. Definitely some positive similarities, right? But the big difference is one of those guys has five rings and that’s not a knock on Donic. This is a team score, but Magic’s ability to affect winning was right there with another MJ, Michael Jordan. That free throw good from Donic. High popping talent from Donic. We don’t see many players with his size and skill set. [Music] [Applause] free throws good from Donic and timeout called by Willie Green. He is going to have a discussion here on the sideline. And just trying to get some traction offensively. Boy, it hasn’t been pretty. Yeah, right now coach needs to draw up his best play, give some points, and give this team some confidence. [Music] [Music] [Music] Pelicans trail by four. [Music] And here is P. And there’s the 3second call. This one on the defense. Let’s take a second look at that fantastic block. And in a close game, blocks like that are so clutch. And that could be a real difference maker here tonight. And he’ll be shooting his first free throw of the game here. And so he hits the technical free throw. [Music] [Music] New Orleans moving it around like six. Murray again. Smart. It’s rebounded by Donuch. Well, if you have the space, you have to take that shot. He missed it, but he’s trying to keep the defense honest. [Music] Pass to LeBron. Oh, the athletic move by LeBron. teams in that tight with that much of an advantage heightwise. There’s just not a lot the defense can do. Pelicans trail by five. [Applause] [Music] Now Murray, he’s got six. [Music] The kick out to Pool. A three. [Music] Williamson outside. Murray against Smart. Murray no good. That’s the kind of D you need when he’s got the ball near the hoop. They were all over back to James [Applause] and Deonte Murray gets the whistle that time. That is his first foul of the game. Vanderbilts checked in for Hayes. And the Pelicans also going to change. Jones has checked in. [Music] Vanderbilt the pass to Hatchima. [Music] Vanderbilt with the screen. Five on the clock. LeBron can’t get it to go. Pelicans trail by five. [Applause] Pass to Jones. Now here’s P. Ask May just his second this contest. He’s two for seven now. I mean it’s just fun to sit back and enjoy watching him operate. And that’s what it looked like the D was doing as well. They’re just sitting back and watching. Now here is Hetimer. He’s guarded closely. Donic against P. Fires from 18. Clams off on the front of the rim and drops. Donic has got 15. And it doesn’t take much for Donic to get high. And once that happens, boy, he is almost unguardable. Here’s P and foul on the shot. So he’ll get a chance at the line. He hits you early. It’s one up. And you know what? You allow a guy to get right to the rim like that. That’s your only option. Hey, Stan, as a coach, what was the most difficult part when transitioning from college to the pros? That’s a great question, Kevin. And and I think two things. Number one, the length and the pace of the season. You just didn’t have the time to prepare for the next game. everything was sped up and then obviously the talent of the players. So, you’re trying to game plan and come up with a way to stop guys who are essentially unstoppable. Here’s what the Lakers are going with right now. DeAndre comes in for Vanderbilt and it’s Austin Reeds in for Marcus Smart. Both free throws good from pool. Here’s Donic. 15 points in the game. Pass to Hatchima. [Music] Eighton with it. Here’s Kings. Oh, LeBron’s just too strong inside. And nice touch from the inside. I I’m a fan of when LeBron just burrows his way inside and takes advantage. The drive by G. Goes straight to the defender for the dunk. Draws the foul. He’ll go to the line. That one on Aton. And this is his third trip to the line tonight. Los Angeles making a switch here. Hayes has checked in. [Music] That’s good for and so Donic will bring it up for the Lakers. They’ve led by as many as 11 points. [Applause] [Music] There’s the lob to the hoop and Hayes throws it down. And you got to respect Lucas’s passing skills. Uh just a multi-talented player who is all about sharing the basketball. LeBron against Murray. Shoots over Donic. And it’s Murray scoring on a gorgeous play. Murray’s got eight points. Well, they gave him the mid-range. Smart idea to take that one. Here’s LeBron out to Dunic. Good. And the assist goes to LeBron. He’s got 18. And we’re so used to Donic operating with the ball in his hands, but it’s good to see him mix it up and work off the catch. Pass to Pool. [Applause] 114 left now here in the second. It’s deflected. [Music] Here’s Reeves. 10 points for him. Stolen by Jones. Here’s Miy goes up and lays it nice and easy. And his competitiveness showing through. That’s an aggressive finish. Yeah. And getting out in transition allows for some easy points before that defense is fully set. Hayes with the screen for James. The three ball and Hayes throws it down. The playmaking ability of James, his level of creativity in the pick and roll, it is simply phenomenal. [Music] Pool against Reeves. Pool on the wing. He’s got 11. Nice te from Dantic. Los Angeles leading by five. There’s 18 seconds left to play here in the second quarter. Nonic converts inside creating space. Nonic will move defenders around. [Music] Murray outside. Pool fires away from outside and so it’s the Los Angeles Lakers. heading to the bench with a seven-point lead as we wrap up the quarter. Defensively, they have gotten after it, contesting every shot going up. We’ll get right back to the action when we return. [Music] [Music] And we’ve got third quarter of basketball for you. Two quarters in the books. You know, Luca Danic has been exceptional here, guys. Well, we’ll find out if they were able to find an answer for him over the break. He was scoring with ease in that first half. Yeah, I’d love to see what they drew up in the locker room because you’re right, he’s the problem right now. [Music] Pelicans trail by seven. So, the Pelican five right now. They’ve got Jordan Fool say Williamson is out there with Trey Murphy. Then there’s De Jante Murray and it’s Mi in at the five roaming the paint and the officials calling for a 3second violation. Lakers leading by seven. James right side strong inside. What a move by James. Yeah, he’s in such a great rhythm right now. Makes sense to get him the ball any way you can. Yeah, when you have a guy playing like he has been recently, he’s got to be the first option on every possession. [Music] [Music] on the free throw. No good. Pelicans trail by nine. Tries it from the top of the key. Murray no good. Well, when they’re playing off you, you have to make them pay. And he couldn’t. Loads of expectations come with going number one overall, Stan. We all know that. Just ask DeAndre Aton. Yeah, Kevin, I think he’s become one of the more underrated players in this league. He was the top pick in 2018. People will always measure him against that standard, but look, he’s averaged a double double every season in the league. It’s not easy to be that consistent. Pass to Pool. Shoots from the line. Murray outside. Second chance shot. Rebounded by DeAndre. A little ambitious on that possession trying to hit a shot in the face of that defensive pressure. [Music] James a screen on Murray. [Music] Donic against Murray. And it’s Donic missing. And so it’s Williamson who brings up the ball for New Orleans. They trail by 11. Here’s [Music] Miy. Nice work on the board. It’s paying off at the basket. Me’s got seven. And if I’m his coach, I’m very pleased with this kind of energy on the offensive glass. Textbook play. Pass to Hatchima. Now Dunic misses in close. pool on the wing. He’s defended by Reeds. And way to finish and cut into that lead a little bit. Yeah, but look at the the basket guys still shaking. Not quite 2 and 1/2 minutes played here in the second half. Near the three-point line, it’s Donic. And again, the Lakers no good. Pelicans trail by seven. Stolen by Reeves. Pass to James to the inside. Atone grabs the rebound. Me’s got 14 rebounds tonight. Going after Murray outside from outside off the mark. Not a whole lot going down for him at this point. He just can’t buy a break. Out of bounds. New Orleans will take possession. [Music] For New Orleans, they’ve gone two of seven from the field in the third. That leaves room for improvements. And timeout called by Willie Green. Wants to regroup and go over the strategy. [Music] Heat up here. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat up here. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] pass to Ni. Third quarter action in just under three and 1/2 minutes have gone. Fires the three. A rebound by the Lakers. They’ve led by as many as 11 points. outside. James in the post. He’s covered by Murray and the shot goes in. 17 points for LeBron. No question James is the green light from anywhere. That that mid-range is just another area where he’s dangerous. And here’s Cool for three. Rebound the Lakers. Eightton Scott on number five for tonight. And now we’ve got some time to check in from the sidelines. What do you got for us TA? Kevin, thanks. The NBA 65 games requirement for postseason awards has drawn some criticism. But Adam Silver says ultimately this is about the fans and putting the best product forward. Load management was not working for us. This is having the desired effect. The guys are on the floor. Yeah, they want to be on the floor, right? Keep them tuning in. Good stuff, DA. Thank you. And it’s Williams a missing. Yeah, you wonder what is he thinking right now. He’s not shooting the ball well. And shots like that only hurt his team more. Hachimura kicks to Donic. Hachimura setting the pit for Donic. Mey grabs the rebound. And so Pool will bring it up for New Orleans. 11-point game. Lets it go from deep. Buries the long range jumper. G’s got 14 points for the game. Now that’s a high percentage look when the D doesn’t fight over the screen. Yeah, it’s certainly worth it to disrupt the offense. Coaches notice that extra effort on the wing. Donic. Johnson converts right through the defense. Another good play. This is how they built the lead. Calling on the right guys at the right time. Yeah, come on. They’re just having their way out there and continuing to press the advantage. Mr. Williamson against Reeds and stolen by Eaton. Here’s Mickey Murray. The second effort. Donic. No good. Pelicans trail by 10. Murray outside. Loads it up to Williamson up high to stuff the alleyoop. And this is what we came to see, right? Go ahead. Do your thing on the alleyoop. And passes to Aiden. Now Reeves. Here’s LeBron. and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. He’s got free throw attempts number four and five here. [Music] [Music] And the first one drops. Vanderville’s checked in for the Lakers. And the Pelicans making a change here as well. Herbert Jones is checked in for Jordan P. [Music] [Music] No good on the second. So he hits one of two. Pelicans trail by nine. Three-pointer. Hits it from three-point range. 10 points for him. Well, you know what’s going to happen when he gets a good look. The defense has got to run him off the line. Donic with it. Jones covering. Manville gets a wide open look. The shot’s good on the assist by Donic. Donic has got his seventh assist of the game with that last one. Pass to Niic [Music] against Murray. Williams left side. Six on the shot clock over Vanderbilt. It’s rebounded by Donic. Donic has got six rebounds in the game. Payton with it. Pass to James. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. A three for Dash. That’s out of bounds. The Lakers able to retain possession. [Music] [Music] Good as the jump shots. Kic has got the lead up to 11 now for the Lakers. Nothing better than a hustle play like that. It gets the whole team amped up. Sets the example for everyone. Pass to Nishi. And here is Murray. Six to shoot. [Music] Williamson looking it over and the three off target. Los Angeles leading by 11. Off with the len for New Orleans shooting at 36%. They really seem out of sync offensive. Good on the triple. Oh, that’s a nice looking three there from Murray. How about the high release on that one? Reeves with it. It’s held in by Dejante Murray. And Greg, remember in DeJonte Murray’s rookie year, he played in the Western Conference Finals. Murray was the youngest player in that series, playing 20 minutes a game competing against the KD Warriors. About that, welcome to the NBA. And the D getting outworked there on the putback. Can’t let that happen. And I can tell you from experience, these are the types of things that drive coaches crazy. Hayes, he’s checked in for the Lakers. Jose Alvarado, he’s checked in for the Pelicans. Find the lane. Find the lane. Good shot. [Music] Enzo Donic will bring it up for Los Angeles. Oh, an easy two from Donic. I mean, he’s just been brilliant today, guys. And it was the same exact story last time out. Pass to Ni. Murray outside. Makes it off the glass. Murray’s got five points in the quarter. And two physical points for Murray. Mixing it up down low. Now Vanderbilt. [Music] Back to Dunic. Tires from deep. Ni grabs the rebound. Ni’s got his 18th rebound here tonight. All over the place to the right side. [Music] Jones looking for an opening. Sinks the three-pointer. Jones has got his first bucket of the game and he’s on the board for three. Well, that’s a shot you don’t mind him taking. gets a good look and trusts his shot to knock down the three. Donic laid in with a nice touch off the glass. 30 points for Luca Donic. And you got to love the big bucket in the paint in this sort of a grind it out game. [Music] Murray against Reeves. [Music] There’s a minute 34 left in the third quarter of the game for three. Murray rebounded by the Lakers. Well, you can tell he thinks he should have had that one. Even harder on him when he’s got a good look like that and it doesn’t go down. Reeves the best of Vanderville. Here’s Kains. Rebound by Murray. Pelicans trail by four. Now El Verado Murray could Murray’s got 15. Well, and it took a terrific effort at both ends to sustain this run. Yeah, it’s normally the defense that fuels a comeback, but let’s see how much they have left in the tank. Here’s LeBron. Pull the shot a little, but the bounce goes his way. LeBron’s got 20. This is a big night for LeBron. I mean, what’s new as Deni? [Music] 32 seconds left here in the third quarter. With that miss, he is now four for seven from the field. Lakers lead by four. [Music] LeBron kicks to Dashic. [Music] Vanderbilt the pass to Reeds. Lakers working the ball around now and they double up James and it’s blocked for three. Murray the putback can’t get the foot back. It’s been all about Luke Donic for the Lakers and his big game just keeps getting bigger. That quarter sees him get over 30 points. Right back after this break. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] And with three quarters behind us, we start the fourth quarter. what is still anybody’s ball game. And here is Los Angeles now. They lead by four in it forward for him. It’s James and Hashimuro. Smart is out there with connect and it’s Hayes at the pivot spot manning the middle. That’s the Laker five and it’s out of bounds to the Pelicans. [Music] Williamson the pass to Bay Jones with the screen on LeBron inside and it’s Jones finishing it off. And guys, I don’t know that this is the time for that kind of flare in a close game. The important thing is to get the two points, not necessarily the dramatic. Oh, come on. He had to go for that, didn’t he? My goodness. [Music] Here’s James. Price jumper from the free throw line. James has got 22 points. He’s creating good looks and shooting very efficiently. Pass to Jones. Here’s Bay. It’s good from long range. their ability again to stretch the floor particularly in this second half. Yeah. And where has the defense been? They’ve been content to let them fire away. They’ve got to close out to the arc. LeBron gets to Hayes. It’s rebounded by New Orleans. Now here’s Bay. [Music] We’ve gone about a minute and a half into the fourth quarter. Pass to Williamson. Six on the shot clock [Music] to take the lead and they force the shot clock violation. Great team. Well, that one stings. In a game where every possession counts, he just gave one away. The Lakers in the lead to the middle. Alvarado with the steel. And now the Pelicans on the break. A miss that time would have put him up. Lakers shooting 52% from the floor. Nice work so far from them. And Kette gets it to go. That’s why he’s in this league. Ket is deadly from deep. Here’s Alvarado. Here’s Bae. And Bae throws it down. And some hang time on the rim. Puts a little cherry on the top of that sling. Well, those kind of displays of strength can get one team rolling. [Music] LeBron fights his way through. As we see connect expand his game, Dalton will get more active as a passer. Pass to bang. Outside Jones. Here’s B. Pocket six. They set up the pick over James. Good on that shot. And with that, the Los Angeles lead is cut down to two on the bucket from Bane. And that pick takes the knee totally out of the equation. Yeah, you’ve got to lock and trail hard. You can’t allow in the clean look. And so it looks like the Lakers will retain possession here. He’s checked in for Hayes. Maurice checked in for the Pelicans. [Music] Williamson against Hatchima. [Music] Five to shoot. Pass to connect and the Lakers with another miss. The Pelicans have gone an outstanding four or five from the field in the fourth quarter so far. [Applause] Williamson against Hatchim to tie it up outside. Jones to take the lead. Hands it from downtown and the Pelicans lead by one. And those are the types of shots down the stretch that win you ball game. To the paint. Here’s Eightton. And Eaton throws it down. A strong showing of physical strength there from defenders have their hands full when he’s around the rim. Pass to Alberto. Murray with it. No good that time. Good work defensively by Smart down low. [Music] No good. The Pelicans have gone five of seven from the field since the beginning of the fourth. Strong work at that end of the fourth in the second half. It seems like they’ve given him the green light. Might want to rethink that. Here’s Connect. He’s defended by Alvarado. It’s going to be out of bounds. Los Angeles will retain possession. Austin Reeds has checked in for the Lakers. Anic comes in for connect. [Music] Here’s Aton. And here is Hatchim. Five on the clock. Kaj from deep three-point lane and again the Lakers no good. And when you are as good a shooter as he is, you have to have the confidence to take that shot. It might not always fall. Yeah, it’s one of those heat check shots. And heat check is a synonym for bad shot. Eightton sets the pick for Smart. [Music] Pass to Hatchim. [Music] And it’s good. The time running down on the shot clock and the Lakers lead by one. And the confidence Ashima has in himself. Knows he can score from this area when given the chance. Williams in from long range. Rebounded by Smart. Los Angeles has gone one of three from outside the arc since we reach the fourth quarter. And it goes down two points. And Murray’s got the ball here for the Pelicans. [Applause] Some nice passing here by New Orleans. Alvarado passes to Jones. from the arc. Rebounded by Smart. Smart’s got four rebounds in this game. It’s blocked. [Music] They need a good offensive possession. Yeah, they’ve gone a long time without a bucket. Nonic against Murray looking to end his cold spell and that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul on Lucic. And I like to see Murray dictate the action like that inside on the front foot, forcing the defender into a foul. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Music] free throw. Good. Murray and we’ve seen Stan Dejante Murray prove for years that he is a 20point player. Yeah. And Kevin, he can score as a point guard or he can be off the ball. But the best thing about DeJonte Murray, he is a great two-way player. one of the best guard defenders we have in this league and he makes both free throws. So it’s the Lakers now. It’s a one-point game. Flash to Hatchima. [Music] Reeves outside. No one here. James as he lets it go. Trains it from beyond the arc. Lebron’s got seven now in this quarter. [Music] Murray outside to the paint. There’s me. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. That one on Aton. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. First one falls for [Music] That one misses. Los Angeles leading by three. [Music] Hashimura with it. Back to Donic. And another three for the Lakers. And he’s such a polished shooter. You can’t give Don these kinds of opportunities. So, he’s going to burn it. Pass to Nishi. Now, here’s P. Four on the shot clock. A great one-two punch. Beautiful pass and nasty jam. Putting that pass right in his stride. didn’t have to slow up and was able to complete the play. James a screen on Murray. Donic pitch to Henchi Murray. Shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. And LeBron used to getting hit. This is the level of attention this man attracts from the D. And guys, what do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for Los Angeles? Well, they’ve really been sharing the basketball. All coaches talk about that, try to get their teams to do it. It’s really great when you see it in action. And one other thing, I I love how comfortable they are looking to operate from mid-range. No qualms about taking those wide open jumpers. [Music] [Applause] So, he makes one of two as the second one misses. Well, you like to see all of them go down, but that did make it a two-possession game. [Music] Here’s Macy. He’s covered by Eaton. drills the three-pointer and that was the right call when you need a basket. Go to the guys you trust the most. Yeah, he got a good look and he calmly delivered for them. That’s what you like to see. Here’s Dun and it’s blocked Williamson against Reeves now. Pool to take the lead. A rebound by the Lakers. Eightton’s got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. RD breeds. Miy grabs the rebound. Macy’s over in the corner. Cool. Nailed from three-point and the Pelicans lead by one. You see the playmaking ability of Williamson there. Great pass to set up his teammate. Back to LeBron. Pelicans pull it in. Williamson outside onto the right wing. Master Murray over in the corner. Cool. And it’s New Orleans scoring again. And boy did he ever sell the pump. worked to absolute perfection. Now outside James and they get it and he takes it up and it runs 17 points here in the second half. You need a big score. You want the ball to get the ball and that’s why Murray outside. He takes it in. Misses from short range. And so Dix will bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers to the middle and they double up LeBron. Lakers passing it around. And there it is for him. James has got 32 points in the game. And this is who LeBron James is. An incredible leader. The game is tight. Just willing to step up trying to break that ice cold streak. There’s 57 seconds left in the game. LeBron kicks to Him and contact on the shot. So he’ll be shooting free throws here. And such a physical player inside. LeBron doesn’t feel contact on the way up. is good. And so he drops them both. It’s a three-point game. And so it’s Willie Green here calling timeout. Coach clearly feeling the necessity to regroup with so much at stake here. [Music] [Music] Heat up here. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] It’s time now to hear from our Hall of Fame reporter David Aldridge. What’s the latest, David? Thanks, guys. Willie Green had some words for his team during the break. The message was simple. Keep fighting. Coach told his team, “We’re in this. We just need some extra effort. Let’s go.” See if they can come back. Kevin, thank you, David. 46 seconds left to play here in the fourth. Murray outside. No good on the three. Yeah, there’s no reason for the defense to get out on him right now. Just let him keep taking that shot until he shows him he’s going to knock it down. James Wizards. She can’t afford any wasted possessions down the stretch. Yeah, they need everything to break their way at this point if they’re going to rally back. Here’s Murray. It’s rebounded by Duch. And now we’ve got the intentional foul. Yeah, that’s right. No other option but to foul misses. We’re on the first and that gives him a four-point push. And the second free throw. No good. A tough break right there. Now a timeout called by New Orleans. We’ve got 13 seconds left in the fourth quarter of this one. And what’s their best move at this point? An uphill climb. They need everything to break their way. Well, I’m sure they’ll run a play they believe in. If it works, I say try for the steel and if you don’t get it, immediately [Music] Heat up here. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] You’ve got 13 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Knocks down the three. Big time basket at a big time moment. Yeah. Don’t you just love to see a player embrace that kind of pressure? No choice but to foul there. He’s probably the last guy you want to see. [Music] That’s the first man to put them up by two. And so both free throws are good. That’s a three-point game. Yeah, at this point they’re going to have to go for the three and try to force O2 for three. Murray no good from three-point territory. And so they choose to intentionally fight. So the first one drops and that gives them a four-point push. Second line is good. Both at the line. It’s a five-point game. That’ll just about do it. Coming through at the line in a big spot. And so the Lakers take the win. It was a fantastic ball game and they did a great job making sure it didn’t get away from him late. Yeah. I mean, they faced some challenges but really held firm when they needed to on both ends. just effective in terms of coming away with this win. And now we’ll send it over to David Aldridge who is standing by Corsant. David, thanks very much. LeBron, in the fourth quarter, were you looking to be aggressive? Yeah, just try to close the game out. You know, my teammates look for me in the fourth quarter to close the game out with my scoring, just my playmaking ability. So, uh, you know, to be able to go out there and come through for me. I know they’re used to it by now, but I know you’re still happy with the win. Congrats. Back to you. Thank you, David. Well, folks, that’s going to do it for now. So, for Greg Anthony, Stan Van Gundy, and our reporter David Aldridge, this is Kevin Harland saying thank you for watching. Hope you’ve enjoyed this presentation of the NBA on 2K Sports. And now we present the player of the game, Luca Donuch. [Music]
