I understand front offices don’t give af what you do off the ice/field/court, as long as they think you can help them win, but obviously disappointing.
If we are going to wade into the controversy of these 5 guys, you’d expect it would be at a position we need.
But honestly it’s gonna be Hart and McLeod. I bet they (the front office) see maximum value and figure 2 controversies for the price of 1 make it worth it on the ice.
This is problematic for us who pay attention to hockey news but I’m not surprised. All the Blackhawks skeletons fell out of the closet and into high paying jobs. This is just an extension of that.
One of the worst parts is going to have to hear statements from everyone else on the team about what a great guy they think he is and how they have no problem being his teammate.

His highest point total is 26 in 80 games. He hasn’t played hockey in like 2 years either. What is the point of this signing? Organizational depth with potential upside for a 2C? Sure maybe, but that’s not worth the press circus this will attract, especially when the NHL loves to dig into our team at every opportunity.

I’m going to say this as dispassionately as I can.
It’s annoying being a fan of a team that views signing guys with questionable character as a cap value calculation, without taking into account the reputation and fan morale impact. Especially because this isn’t the first time.
SA aside, do we really want a guy who hasn’t played in over a year for non injury related reasons? I feel like we have guys in the minors that we better to call up
Pissing off a portion of your fan base for the shit head ring leader creep with a dazzling high 26 points who has been out of the league since 2024 is a choice.

That’s certainly a choice, and not a good one. That’d just my opinion rn. He’s hardly played lately , 10/10 would not do
He was a defensively sound faceoff specialist. He just didn’t provide much offense. He’s also 6’2″ and right-handed. Basically, he’s a right-handed and more consistent Jesperi Kotkaniemi who will be on a much cheaper contract due to his legal troubles. Taking the moral issues out of it, I like it more than Hart.
But he was also the one who hooked up with her and then invited all his friends over and the trial did not make him look good at all so it’s morally a much worse look.
If it wasn’t for the case, he would be a great pickup for the bottom six but I don’t know that a 4th line center is worth the PR nightmare. This is just where we are in a world where Bowman and Queen Quenneville already have jobs, not to mention where US politics are at the moment.
I understand he was found not guilty but don’t love it for us.

I’m not so sure about this reporting. Feels like it might be based entirely on Adam Gold’s speculation on it (and he said he was purely speculating). He looks no better than a 4C given his KHL production and we have 2-3 of those already.
I also don’t really want it to happen, so maybe I’m doing the same thing I did with the reports we were looking to trade Rantanen. I’m in wait and see mode anyway
