Did the chances of Connor McDavid staying in Edmonton just go down? πŸ‘€ #SDP #oilers #nhl #hockey

He mentions the 2526 season in those words at least twice and that felt very intentional. Very Mitch Mner last season. Uh I’m committed to winning here. I’m committed to winning here. I’m committed to winning here this season. Yeah, but he kept saying this just feels a lot more direct and McDavid is a smart guy. He’s been the next one for over a decade. He’s known he was destined for this for a very long time. He’s generally guarded but pretty open and honest and media trained. Conor McDavid did not sit down and get blindsided by these questions. Yeah, he sat down knowing, “Oh yeah, I’m probably going to I’m I am going to get asked about this.” I don’t think anyone questions his efforts to win a Stanley Cup this year in Edmonton. But beyond that, and honestly, I think it’s whether they win or lose. I think today the chances of him staying just went

  1. McDavid is taking a 'Wait and see' approach. If the Oilers get bounced in the first or second round in the playoffs this season he's gone.

  2. If he leaves it'll be a "if I had a nickel for every time the world's best player left the Edmonton Oilers at the top of their game I'd have 2 nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice" type situation

  3. If he wanted to stay he would’ve signed a while ago. Why would he put him self through an entire annoying offseason of questioning? Doesn’t take a detective to figure this out. He’s gone.

  4. Down from 99% to 97%? Cuz where does he have a better chance of winning then here again? And anywhere even close would have to remove 17 million from their budget and then theyd no longer BE close πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  5. Let's face it. All of Toronto is just waiting for him to fail in Edmonton and then come home and save their asses, because without a McDavid-caliber addition the Matthews-era Leafs are going nowhere.

  6. Imagine if this was happening and Edmonton had addressed the glaring goaltending problem?
The conversation would be completely different.
No one is blaming McDavid for any of this because EVERYONE knows Skinner/Pickard isn't a Cup winning tandem.

  7. The eeevil constructor that is the F-L-O-R-I-D-A PANTHERS… LOL
Connor, come win a Cup alongside Barkov, and then you go sign your lifetime contract wherever you want as a Stanley Cup WINNER. GO CATS!!!

  8. It must be bliss being Adam; knowing everything and nothing all at all at once. Marner walks away from a choke job of a team and all of a sudden that applies to everyone except Crosby.

  9. I smell a Tavares like homecoming brewing.
1.) come home to raise a family close to parents βœ…
2.) go to a team capable of beating Florida if I join βœ…
3.) win Stanley Cup and go down as the greatest hockey player legend in Leafs nations history βœ…

  10. Oh he's so gone. And will be forever remembered as the truly generational player who just couldn't win. Remember, he's never won at any major level. Not in Triple A, OHL, NHL… notta

  11. Once leon signed for 14/aav McDavid knew Edmonton would never have the cap space required to get the supporting cast needed to win. So he'll play out here and sign somewhere for way under market value to win a cup.

  12. He would probably stay long term but his camera craving wife probably doesn’t want to stay in Edmonton. I see him going to LA, NY, NJ, Tampa, something along those lines. Maybe Chicago. Seeing McD and Bedard on a line together would be insane.
