According to Pat from WRAL, canes have been in talks about the 5 players from the Canada World Junior 2018 trial, but are not poised to sign McLeod when eligible.

  1. this being said, if you feel strongly please keep contacting the organization and expressing your concerns/thoughts!

  2. Manifesting a no then! Despite any apologizers to the said accused, and despite legal acquittal, it’s objectively still not a great look considering tension around the case. Just because someone isn’t charged doesn’t mean they’re not slimy and wouldn’t be poison to fan morale. I understand it’s a business, but still.

Don’t care about his faceoffs or his size. And I know most players are probably less than stellar morally. But this is a step over the line of comfort for a lot of people

  3. The Hurricanes front office mantra is “leave no stone unturned”. I always expect them to kick the tires on everything. But that doesn’t mean they will act on everything. Hopefully, the calculus of the backlash from signing any of these guys and disruption to the locker room is weighed appropriately to what value they would assign these guys. We know that the front office is open to giving guys second chances (see TDA), but hopefully they understand that there is a limit to what is acceptable.

  4. That does give some hope, but I’m still irritated that they’re “exploring” enough for this to be a conversation.

  5. Our family has been huge fans of the Canes since 1998. We cannot in good conscience support them signing this player.

  6. lol this is basically a repeat of Deangelo. They signed him anyway and it didn’t affect attendance.

  7. Have a feeling it will flip flop a few more times given how it has changed a few times already.

  8. I’m not under any illusions that the Hurricanes wouldn’t potentially target him, we know how aggressive they are at looking at everyone available, especially centermen. That said if this is a move that the team makes its one that Tulsky is going to have to own with a full chest. Even if the likelihood is very low he’d start the season off on the NHL roster, the optics will stay the same that he’s a player signed to play on the team.

  9. So uhh…can someone remind me whether these guys were let go on a technicality or whether it’s clear they really are predators?
