Chiefs get incredible news that could be a game-changer! Justyn Ross in KC and more news

So, it looks like the Chiefs are going to get a bit of a boost on offense as not one but two playmakers are trending towards being able to play on Sunday against the Giants. Obviously, we’ll need to see how this week unfolds, but I’m at least optimistic about one of them, and that is going to really help this Chiefs offense that has been anemic through two weeks of the season. So, I’ve got to talk about that. Justin Ross making an unexpected visit to Kansas City. A rather surprising player popping up on the injury report. Kelsey owning up for his dropped pass turned INT and more. But first, how about those? All right, first up, Travis Kelce spoke about the dropped pass turned in in the Eagles game. This was today during his podcast on New Heights, and he basically said that Mahomes threw it right where it needed to go. If you remember, Mahomes said postgame in his presser that he could have placed it better and thrown the ball closer to Kelsey’s body, but Kelsey basically scoffed at that notion. He said, “This is a play that he’s made about a million times, and he simply needed to catch it. No excuses there. Getting his head around in anticipation a little faster would have helped with that.” And he puts the blame on himself. We all knew he would say this, and I do think he could have and should have made the catch. I have seen some people online try to make the attempt saying that the ball got tipped and it affected the trajectory of Mahomes’s pass, but I’ve watched that throw from five or six different angles, the coach’s film, and the ball did not get tipped, guys. It was simply a mistake and error on Kelsey and he had to make that catch and failed to execute. With that being said, it seems like that’s what Mahomes, Kelsey, and others harped on during their pressers this week. One word, execution. they were right there in these games and simply needed to execute on a few more plays at a higher level and they could have got the dub. Kelsey himself isn’t overly concerned by the losses because he said that after watching the film, it’s just better execution needed on a few key plays. And that’s the difference between them being 2-0 and 0 and2. And for the most part, I do agree here. They were not off by much. a missed throw here, a dropped pass there, a missed field goal, extra point week one, the drop turned INT, and of course a couple of questionable coaching decisions. They played both the Chargers and Eagles close with arguably the lesser talented roster, at least overall, especially on offense with no Rice, no Worthy, and no run game, yet still had chances to win. And I do want to mention that the Travis Kelce discourse is kind of out of control on social media through two games. It’s either he hasn’t done anything wrong at all or needs to retire immediately. I actually think Kelsey looks a lot quicker and more agile out there this year compared to 2024. You can tell he’s put in the work this off seasonason. And for proof, the guy had the highest average separation score and route win rate at tight end. So at the position in week two and through two weeks of football among all tight ends, he’s seventh in yards, tied for fifth in yards after the catch, and has the fourth longest reception out there. And the guy is 35 years old. He’s made several plays, key plays at that, just hasn’t executed as consistently as we all hoped. and he literally said the same thing himself. Part of the issue here is the offense shouldn’t have to funnel directly through Travis Kelce in the past game. But it’s the reality of the situation right now with injuries, suspension, and literally no run game. The good news is the Chiefs have some key players coming back to action. They’re at practice this week and trending towards playing, and that means potentially great news is here on the horizon. So, I want to process through that, talk about a pretty surprising yet familiar face visiting Kansas City, and more coming up next. All right, so today Andy Reid shared that defensive end Mike Dana and quarterback Christian Fulton didn’t practice today. We’ll look at the full injury report later, but I’m going to assume right now, even though it’s early, neither of those guys actually suited up to play on Sunday Night Football against the New York Giants. That means you’re going to need more from cornerback null Williams in the cornerback room. And then in the defensive end room, Ashton Gelotti, then Charles Minhu, both need to step up. But yes, the O-2 Chiefs are heading to New York to take on the Russell Wilson le 0 and2 Giants. The only two teams in the entire NFL whose leading rusher on the roster is their quarterback. Two teams that both need a win with the Giants probably needing it more with head coach Brian Dball on the hot seat. I actually thought he would get fired last year but somehow made it and he could lose his job here sooner rather than later if they don’t turn things around. I don’t think the Giants win and most analysts predict the Chiefs winning and I think honestly the Chiefs will want it more. The Giants just need it more. Well, that’s part of why New York is going to be 5 and a half point underdogs. Even being at home, the Chiefs should win, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be an easy fight, believe it or not. But the Chiefs have, for whatever reason, never been able to beat the Giants on the road in NFL history. They are 0 and7 on the road against New York, which is pretty crazy. But I think that changes this week. It is going to help to have either Xavier Worthy, Jaylen Royals, or both players out there running routes this Sunday. And that very well could happen. and Andy Reid told the media today that both guys will practice and there’s currently no limitations on either of them. You can see a quick video here of them at practice thanks to Harold Coons of Fox 4 and you could see they were both moving around pretty well during individual drills and I was most encouraged by Royals considering it’s his knee that’s been bothering him with that knee tendinitis. Speaking of Royals, Andy Reid said the knee is coming along but he’s been out for a while so they’ll see how it goes after he moves around and they begin ramping him up this week. Honestly, having both of these guys back would be a very welcome sight for this offense. I won’t have a bunch of expectations for Royals since a he’s a rookie and has yet to even play in a game, but I truly believe at least part of the reason why they drafted him, not entirely, but part of it was to help fill in for Rice during his suspension this season in at least a limited capacity. The coaching staff has repeatedly shared that Royals has several similarities to Rice, quick burst and yards after catch ability. The problem is Rice is suspended, but Royals and Worthy haven’t been on the field either. And that has really hurt the explosiveness of this offense. They look painfully, eerily similar to 2024 because they didn’t upgrade the running back room at all either. And that has been amplified due to lack of available receiving weapons. Right now, I’m actually more optimistic about Xavier Worthy playing than Royals. Though, I hope that knee tendonitis doesn’t flare up on Jaylen this week as they increase his workload. and he also plays on Sunday. For Xavier, he’s going to brace up and play through the labram tear he sustained when dislocating his shoulder. I do think he plays or at least tries to give it a go considering he actually wanted to play last week. That’s what Mahomes said during his presser today. But there is always a chance of reinjuring that shoulder here. That’s why he’s going to have to wear a brace. And I think there’s a chance for reinjury the rest of the season until he most likely needs shoulder surgery in the off season. So, I’m cautiously optimistic about Worthy. And I think even if he’s out there looking 85% himself on the field, that’s more than good news for this offense. And Nate Taylor of ESPN said today in an article that the Chiefs are optimistic that Worthy plays and he’s expected to wear a harness. He was seen out there at practice today without any extra padding on his right arm. So yeah, right now if I had to put money down on it, Worthy is playing. They certainly need somebody else out there to help. and worthy would definitely open up other opportunities that the offense has struggled to find elsewhere. I mean, shoot, it would also help Taekquin Thornton get even more looks from Mahomes. Please hit on a couple deep balls. I beg of thee. And since I mentioned him, Patrick Mahomes, he spoke to the media today. He turned 30 years old. What a run it’s been for Patrick Mahomes, for the Chiefs since he was drafted and became the starter in 2018. We have a lot to be grateful for. Five Super Bowls in six years, three rings. You know the deal. He turned 30, which is awesome. But he spoke to the media today and he said they can make the offense work with whoever it is out there. They just need to execute at a higher level. The theme of the week, Pat said being 0 and2, it puts more urgency to get this right. In his eyes, he sees it as an opportunity to get out there and prove who they are on Sunday Night Football as the Kansas City Chiefs. A way to get things going on Sunday is to find more success earlier on in the game in general. There were some explosive plays available early against Philly. This is what Patrick Mahomes told the media. And had he stood in the pocket a bit longer here and there, there were guys open, had he just hung in the pocket longer, trusting his O line. He shared that there were times he left the pocket early when he didn’t need to. And the more he trusts the O line, the better the offense will be. He even said on some of the scrambles that he made that went for pretty good yardage, guys got open. So yeah, sure he can hang in the pocket and trust his O line a little bit more, but I will also say the O line needs to play at a bit higher level from run blocking to protecting him in the pocket. Mahomes is currently the eighth most pressured quarterback in the league with Jawan Taylor leading all offensive tackles and penalties. And then Kingsley Suatia has allowed the second most pressures among all guards in the NFL with eight. His quick losses are what concerned me the most. Former Chiefs lineman Mitchell Schwarz watched the film on Casey’s O line and did say that Kingsley is improving. So, that is some good news there. He’s trending in an upward trajectory, but when he loses, it’s bad and the loss is quick. Well, they’re going to have to get that figured out for this week because that defensive line of the Giants is pretty freaking good. And they have Dexter Lawrence along the interior after all. So, that’ll be a big key to watch in this one. The battle along the interior in the trenches. I’d also love to see a bit more of a run game. I don’t have high hopes for it and I have no idea if it’ll actually work or not considering they have one of the least explosive rooms in all of football. The O line hasn’t been perfect. Okay, they haven’t blocked and executed at the level they would like to, but there has been opportunities there for additional yards. They just haven’t been able to get it done. Isaiah Pacheco’s vision has been a definite problem here. Andy Reid was asked about the run game today actually and he replied, “We can do a better job there. We’ll get that thing going better.” Well, I hope so because Mahomes is on pace to run for 1,000 yards himself this year and that is uh not realistic or sustainable long term. And he won’t even let Mahomes run a QB sneak or at least hasn’t since he had dislocated that kneecap years back. Yet, he said today that he is okay with Mahomes running all around and making plays. He just doesn’t like him taking big hits. But Mahomes is competitive and will do whatever he can out there to try to will his team to a win. Well, sure. I don’t mind scrambles from time to time either, but a dynamic run game would be preferred to help protect Mahomes for a long, long season. Something we will see all season long. Regardless, our roster moves, and there’s a few that have happened recently worth talking about. For starters, the team recently reached a non-injury settlement with defensive end BJ Thompson and placed him on waivers. He cleared waivers and is actually now a free agent. This happened Friday, cleared waiverss Monday. And honestly, I’m not sure this man will ever play football again or not, but I do wish the former fifth round pick nothing but the best. Remember, in case you forgot, BJ is the guy who went into cardiac arrest. He had a seizure and then went into cardiac arrest the summer before last during a team meeting. A very scary situation, but thankfully he’s alive and able to live out his life. Whether or not he does actually play football again, we’ll see. So, that was Monday. Then yesterday, the Chiefs terminated the practice squad contract of wide receiver Hal Presley, which kind of points to positive news here about either Xavier Worthy, Jaylen Royals, or both, which I already talked about earlier. But then with that empty spot on the practice squad, linebacker Cole Christensen was brought back to the fold. He was the odd man out for Hal Presley last week, but just like that, he’s back again. Someone else that might be back maybe is wide receiver Justin Ross. He was actually seen at the Casey airport today sharing this on his IG story saying been a minute with a heart emoji. I see that as he’s either coming back in for a workout and will soon sign to the practice squad or he’s simply visiting his former friends and teammates here in the Kansas City area. He is a free agent after asking for his release from the team prior to training camp and has worked out I believe for a couple different teams but never caught on. And I’ll just say this. If Justin Ross finds himself back on the practice squad, this man might have pulled a 200 IQ move asking for his release just before Andy Reid’s hell of a training camp in St. Joe and still ending up back on the practice squad. Tip of the cap, sir, if that’s what happens here. The thing is, had he stayed around with the wide receiver room being weird and kind of shaking out the way that it did, Justin might have actually had a shot to make the 53man roster after all. But oh well, we’ll see if anything comes from his trip to Kansas City or not here very soon. Next up, I do want to take a quick look at the Chief’s injury report. There’s a couple of surprising names that are on there. And then we can also see who didn’t practice. No surprises. Mike Dana, Christian Fulton, who was limited, Jaylen Royals, and Xavier Worthy along with Josh Simmons who has an illness. So don’t read too much into Josh Simmons being limited today. If worthy and royals are going to be playing this week, they need to trend upwards as they ramp them up. So, a full participant on Thursday, Friday is what I would expect or hope to see for Worthy with Royals in his knee. They’re going to see how he responds. They’re going to see how that knee tendinitis does it. Does it flare up? Does he deal with swelling? We’ll have to keep close eyes on that. The other guys worth talking about briefly here. Hollywood Brown, we saw him limp off the field in that game on Sunday against uh the Eagles. So, he’s a full go though. No worries there. He finished out the game. Ashton Gelati with the elbow. That’s been a thing. But Patrick Mahomes has been added to the injury report with the injury being labeled as his right wrist. That is the wrist of his throwing hand. Don’t love seeing that. Obviously, if you need treatment at all, if it’s sore, anything like that, you have to report it on the injury report. He was a full participant. Nothing alarming here by any means, but that’s a pretty surprising name to see Patrick Mahomes, but it being the wrist of his throwing hand. The other few names on here, it’s Charles Aminu hand, but he was a full go. Jawan Taylor, knee, ankle. Not a surprise. He’s been dealing with a knee for quite a while here. And then Drew Tranquil knee. He was on that last week with the knee and he’s also been dealing with a bit of back soreness as well. There’s also a bunch of injuries on the Giants end, but I do want to wait until the week unfolds for them to get into those injuries there because I could diagnose a bunch of stuff here and they end up playing. So, we’ll just kind of wait for that. But, let me know your thoughts on this game and how you think things are trending for a couple key players for the Chiefs. Do you think Royals plays? What about worthy? If you had to bet on one of them, would it be worthy over Royals? I don’t know. Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below. And then also let me know how are you feeling right now after the Chiefs are 0 and2. But how are you feeling for this game about this game? Do you think the Chiefs are going to end up winning it? Let me know your early initial thoughts. It’s only Wednesday, but let me know in the comments down below. And until next time, let’s go. Let’s freaking go. How about those

  1. History proves that a weak offensive line pretty much means no SB. If the O line doesn’t get better, season is over. Period. As for Kelce, he has dropped a pass here and there throughout his career. Nothing too concerning yet. For RB, it should be hunt getting over 50% of the snaps. Feed him until he proves he can’t do the job. And lastly, the defense. They will most likely get better as the season goes on and those rookies get some reps.

  2. The giants going bring that d so what u getting worth back what about that offense and defense line u going need more then kelce mahomes and Jones philadelphia eagles showed how they defense line is is all jone that it the chiefs going be 03 in New York Russell Wilson going fin a way to win go giants u got nothing to lose get one for new york city 😮

  3. I am skeptical! But help is coming I want X to get reps but he doesn't need any unnecessary hits!!!!!!!🙏🏾 Do better Trav last two weeks cmon bruh! and let's get this damn W!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Not overly worried about 0-2 start. This team will come together at the right time and dominate. I expected to go 3-3 without Rice, and while the OL got their act together. We'll be fine.

  5. Imagine trying to build trust in your position room as a player and as a coach, trying to build chemistry & trust and when you have someone that does really well they leave after 2-4 years and you have to reset. There’s a few that stay, but that would be so hard.

  6. I have them at 10 loses this year, but I am about to move them to 12 , senhse mahomes and kelse like ending receivers carrers, I don't see much hope for them, and,,, sense kelse likes showing off, and can't seem to catch a damn ball, I may have to move them to 14 loses

  7. Let’s be honest…Patrick has regressed he is missing reads and passes that he used to make …he is human and he is amazing but not perfect…these games are close and he is a bit off…the O line is just getting beat too often and he is rushed…give him time he will find himself no problem…it’s just a slump…it happens to all of us
