TRAIL BLAZERS vs GRIZZLIES | NBA 2K INSANE REALISM 😱 Full Gameplay [4K 60FPS]
Greg Anthony. This is Kevin Harland and David Aldridge will be joining us on the sideline as well. Let’s take a look at our starters from Portland. We’ve got a holiday out there with Damen Lillard. Then there’s Klingan and it’s Kamar in at the fourth. And for the Grizzlies, Santi Odama is out there with Jiren Jackson. Then there’s Wells. Then it’s Morant and it’s Caldwell Pope in the two. We can expect more of a methodical pace, print, I think, in this one. What do you think? Yeah, you’re right, Kevin. Both of these teams love to run their offense in the half court. They’ll slow things down. They’ll love the setups. They’ll try to manipulate a couple of the plays to get matchups they want. Neither side afraid to take it under 5 seconds on the shot clock. And that patience may pay off. And a bit of a battle here for the ball. The official signals a jump ball here. So, it’s the Grizzlies now out to the right wing. Caldwell Pope with a screen for Morant. He’s looking for Caldwell Pope and finds him. Good for the basket. Starting off one for one with that shot. Nice execution, especially in close. Cwell Pope showing he’s more than just a player that likes it on the perimeter. Holiday a screen on Caldwell Pope. Lillard misses and so it’s Jackson who brings it up for the Grizzlies and finished off by Mor. This is how athletic Mor is. A point guard who possesses incredible athleticism. [Applause] Outside Abdia Liard from outside Elama with the rebound to Wells back to Caldwell Pope. Loads it up there for Mor [Applause] with it. Nobody here. Lillard gets the three-pointer to fall. and Lillard the flatout gunner from deep because he’s just a lethal shooter from way outside. Now Wells Caldwell Pope outside from downtown. Rebound by the Trailblazers outside Abdia. pass to Kamare and again it’s Portland with the three and he likes to get in a rhythm early. Nice triple. The Grizzlies have gone two or three here to start off the game. Mor passes to Elmo fires it up and that’s collected by Drew Holiday. That might not be the shot they want him taking even with the D backing off. Portland had Greg one of the great guard combinations in Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter. Man, that was one heck of a back court and they they really complemented each other so well. Drexler with his explosive scoring ability and Porter who could just do a little bit of everything. Here’s Eldama. There’s a screen by Odama. Here’s Wells. No good from outside. [Applause] Portland is gone. two of four from beyond the arc to start the game. [Music] Now here’s Odia D right on him and it’s in there. And this is the attack mindset you want to see coming into the game. Tone setting right here early. Love that tenacity. So timeout called here. The first for Memphis. [Applause] your left for the Grizzlies. Great job. Set it up. Set it up. Bring the play in. Just over two and a half minutes played here so far in the first quarter. Holiday against Mor Jackson. A screen on Holiday. Six to shoot. Looking to end the run. And the layup by Jackson. And I like how Mor threaded the needle there. Just an excellent pass off that pit. As to Klingan. Here’s Abdia. Sinks the triple. Abd got five points so far. That’s pretty much not how they wanted to defend the three-point line. Somebody’s got to shadow him out there. Alama with the ball. Caldwell kicks to Wells and they wasted no time getting those three points back. Nice answer back there. Love to see the competitors. Yeah, both teams finding ways to the three-point line and trying to take advantage from distance. Kamar misses with a short break in the action. Gives us a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge. Thank you, Kevin. I was able to talk to the head coach of the Grizzlies for just a minute. And as you would expect, their focus on defense is Damen Lillard. He said, “Lillard’s smart. He’s seen every defensive look there is. So, we can’t get fancy. Our main thing is to be ready with help defenders inside. We can’t allow him penetration. They’re hoping to limit the damage you can do at the rim.” Back to you guys. Thank you, David. Smart and aggressive. Lillard repeatedly dominating the pick and roll set. Pass to Elama. [Music] Here’s Wells. Puts up a three. And again, it’s the Grizzlies from deep. And really, he came into the game with that long range shot. Looking great. Boy, he could wind up with a crazy number of threes today. Now, here’s Lillard. He’s got five. Abdia. They grab their own miss. Here’s Klingan. Tough possession there. They stayed with it, but they just couldn’t make it. Morance against Lillard. Morant dishes to Jackson. Caldwell Pope kicks to Mor. Caldwell Pope passes to Jackson. Caldwell Pope with a screen for Jackson. Bells wide open. Off target from three-point range. Portland’s gone three of seven from three-point range in the first quarter. Here’s Kamar defended by Aldama. Pass to Holiday. Trailblazers moving the ball around to the paint. He’s looking for Lillard and finds it. And it comes up with the deuce. Lillard’s got seven points. Lillard finding a way even there amongst the trees. [Music] Oh, well Pope feeling it out of it for the three. A shot by Wells. No good. Trailblazers have gone six of 12 from the field here in the first quarter. Godwell Pope against Abdak shoots it and the basket by Kamar. Kamar’s got his second buck. Well, they’re trying to take command of this game, but it’s been competitive so far. Yeah. Everybody trying to get away from one another and the threads are keeping them close. This has been highly competitive. That shot by Caldwell Pope. No good. And it’s Willard with the ball. He brings it up for the Portland Trailblazers. Pass to Cllingon. Alert against Caldwell Pope. and contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. Hey, Brent. Damen Lillard is as clutch as they come. He is fearless. Where do you think that comes from? Why is he so effective late in tight games? Such a great question, Kevin. But for Damen Lillard, I think it boils down to one word and that is confidence. I mean, he has legitimately the ultimate confidence in all the work that he puts in in the off season to be in these moments, have the ball in his hands, and it’s been proven time and time again that he can come through. It’s why we see him tap his wrist and it being game time. Those are some of the most memorable moments of his career. Some changes for Memphis. Brandon Clark, he’s checked in for Santi Aldama. Jackson comes in for Wells and it’s Ty Jerome in for Contavius Caldwell Pope Portland also making some changes. Hansen’s checked in for Klingan and it’s sharp in for Aia. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] And the first one drops. It’s an odd stat, but what I’m going to throw out there anyway, the Memphis Grizzlies set an NBA record last season for players used in a season. Kevin, this isn’t football, right? They had 33 different guys suited up last season. That tells you how difficult it was, constant change, hard to build chemistry, and let’s face it, hard to win games. He’s perfect from the line this time. Well, when he gets into a groove at the free throw line, it doesn’t just last for tonight. This might be two weeks, two months, something like that. Mor passes to Clark. Good and nice. This is from Mor. Yeah, another nice bucket down low. They’ve really been able to work the ball into the post effectively here so far. Now, here is Holiday. Still without a basket. Pass to Sharp. hits the three-point bomb and the Trailblazers lead by five. And nice work on the perimeter. Defenses must respect Sharp’s range. Mor scanning the floor and the shot goes in. Yeah, there it is again. On a lot of their possessions this first half, they’ve established great inside position. Sharp on the wing pass to Kamar. Now here’s Sharp. He started closer and the rejection by Jackson Clark left side now Morant and stolen by Lillard. Holiday with it. Back to Lillard. Shot from the wing. Two points. That one goes. Lillard’s got 11 points. You can’t just stop when there’s a pick set up. Got to fight over it as a defender. That’s one that the coaches will watch tomorrow with that player. You hate to see him give up in that situation. It’s good. Mor using that quickness to his advantage. That time he gets that one the fall inside. Here’s Hansen and the rejection by Jackson. Clark dishes to Morant. Back to Clark. Some nice passing there by Memphis. Sharp against Jackson. And here we go. Trailblazers with a fast break. And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. Sharp still trying to find some comfort and familiarity at the free throw line. Sometimes it takes some young guys longer. And let’s take a moment, guys, to get your take on the scoring so far for the Trailblazers. They’ve looked to fire as much as possible from outside the arc and so far they are hitting at a high clip and they’ve sort of assumed control of this game with their pressure defensively. They’ve been into the ball handler. They’ve done a great job of swarming. So, they’re creating some turnovers that they’re capitalizing on. So, he gets them both. Hey, Brian, what’s one area where we really see these Portland Trailblazers excel? Well, they’re great on the offensive glass. They have presence on the inside. Uh they have a ton of focus on just collecting rebounds. So, great at retrieving those misses. Jackson, that’s good. Oh, quick thinking from Jackson. When he’s rising and firing fast, you know he’s in the zone. And we’ve got a timeout called by Chanty Bips. Wants to talk some things over. Might be seeing some things to adjust. Get down. [Music] Some chances here for the Grizzlies. He’s checked in for Jiren Jackson and Pippen subbed in for John Morant. Portland’s gone four of eight on their three-point attempts. Doing a lot of work from way outside here in the first quarter. Now here’s Anderson. Here’s Sharp. Count that one. Sharp’s got seven. Oh, gritty play by Sharp inside. Defense puts contact on the rookie and he still gets it to fall. Pippen outside. Jackson in the corner. Clark outside. Pass to Jerome beyond the arc. No good. Shot missing. And even against defense as tight as that, you almost expect him to still bury those. Two minutes remaining. Here’s Hansen. He’s covered by Clark. Uses the glass to finish the layup. And it’s a six-point Trailblazer lead. Punch, counter punch. Impressive offensive production early on. Who’s going to miss first? Every time one team scores, the other team right back at you. Here’s Jerome. No scoring in this one. Jackson down low. Defended by Thelers. Memphis shooting their first free throws of this. And their free throw percentage as a unit last year, 76% right around the middle of the road. [Music] He’s off on the first. Get the next one. [Applause] [Applause] And the second free throw. Good. Here’s Henderson. Pass to Sharp and looks like the illegal kick was set. Yep, that’s right. That’ll get their attention beyond the leaning. You could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. Got to hold firm or you’re going to get a call. And that’s a block right there. He swats that ball away with some energy. And guys, don’t think twice about attempting that shot again. That was a big time rejection. 125 left here in the opening quarter. Right now, I’d send it over to the sidelines and get a report from David Aldridge. Kevin, the Blazers are in a midst of a rebuild. Coach Chanty Phillips said it’s been a tough couple of years. I’m just here every day grinding through it, helping my guys the best I can. I’m ready for that challenge and that pressure to go out and compete with these best teams. But in the NBA, Kevin, this sort of thing takes time. A lot of time, but the West is tough, David. Thank you. Williams can’t hit. The Grizzlies trail by three. Clark outside. 43 seconds left to play in the first quarter. Here’s Jerome and he could not get that one to go. out of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. Memphis shooting their third and fourth free throw attempts of the game. at the line for two. Todd Jro, two. He misses the free throw. [Applause] And he sinks the second. There’s 37 seconds left in the first quarter of the game. Pippen against Henderson. Sharp with a screen on Pippen and the call is going to be Yes. Yes, it is an illegal screen. That’s going to draw a whistle every time down the floor. Not even close to being a legal screen. Yeah, everybody saw that one. That was pretty blatant there. 24 seconds left in the first quarter. Pass to Editi. Now Clark pocket six and no good. Had a chance to take the lead there. Here’s Hansen over Jackson. He made it. He gets it to go. One eye on the rim, one eye on the clock. Nice job. Yeah, it’s almost like he’s playing with a wristwatch there. He knew the time, he executed. And so it’s Damen Lillard making things happen for the Trailblazers. He comes away with 11 points in the quarter and is showing no signs of fatigue. And we’ll be right back after this. And for those of you just tuning in, the second quarter of action is where we’re at right now. And from Portland, guys, what jumps out to you statwise? Well, pounding the boards is one way to gain an advantage. They simply owned the glass in that first. Well, if you get physical out there, you can control the glass and that helps you to control the pace of the game. Every year, Greg, we get a new batch of rookies into the NBA, and sometimes we’re all guilty of judging them too early. Oh, absolutely. I think we need probably 3 years to evaluate a player. You know, fans and media can can be a little harsh at times, but not everybody develops at the same rate. Pippen is out there with Williams. Then there’s Edy. Then it’s Shanti Elama and it’s Wells in at the three slot. That’s the lineup in the game for Memphis. Now here’s Pippen following the miss by Jeremy Grant. Here’s Elon and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. Jeremy Grant picks one up. The Grizzlies shooting their fifth and six free throws of the game. Odama taking two shots. Two shots. Rethrow good from Alama. and that one goes in. Two from the line that time and it’s Henderson with the ball for Portland. Sharp on the wing over Williams. Sharp and that’s good. Sharp’s got nine. Great at creating shots. Sharp did it there with that catch and shoot. Pippen kicks to Williams to the middle. Here’s Edy and down it goes. Jamming that one home. Go into the rack with energy and the D afraid to cut him off. Yeah, got to chalk that one up to some shaky defending. There’s some ways to get your coach’s attention and that draws the coaching staff’s eye. Omnia can’t hit. Memphis trailing here. Right side. Williams. Alama with the ball. Working on Grant outside. Pippen. Six on the shot clock. They set the screen, connects from three-point range. Goodman’s got himself going there. His first points of the game on the deep ball. Pass to Cllingon now. Sharp. [Applause] Henderson passes it to Sharp and it’s out of bounds to Port. He’ll retain possession. Portland, let’s take a second look at that fantastic block. And that is a huge block. Given how close this game is, a stop like that was right on point. [Applause] And here in the second, two minutes gone by. Lets the three fly. Buries the long range jumper. He’s got eight. And I like the back and forth here, showing confidence from range. It seems like they’re going to find out who can make the deepest threes. Right now, it’s a shootout. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. Memphis shooting their seventh and eighth free throw attempts for the game right here at the line for Memphis. Two shots. Two shots. And that one misses. [Applause] [Applause] And he’s good on the second. Portland leading now. Here’s Henderson. Nothing on the board. Pass to Sharp Grant on the wing. Shot clock at six. Now here’s Avdia. Defense right on him. Memphis has gotten a lot of looks from outside tonight. Five of 12. Brent with Avdia. There’s a versatility to his game that not many players can claim. Yeah, Kevin, it’s a great point. He does things on both ends. Sometimes defensively it goes unnoticed, but this guy can play a lot of different positions and is very skilled. He contributes in a lot of ways to his team. And it’s the Trailblazers with the ball following the score by Memphis. And this is where Klingan looks to score. The closer he is to the rim, the more aggressive he becomes. Pippen against Henderson. Williams for three. Amia with the rebound. He’s not the guy that you want to give a wideopen look from three-point range. They’re lucky that that one doesn’t cost. Hey, Greg. What about Jeremy Grant? He’s had about every role you can imagine on any team he’s played on. And Kevin, he started out as a second round pick, hoping to just make a team. He’s been a bench spark plug, a starter, even a number one option in Detroit for a couple years. Grant’s done it all. and he can’t get the first one. Talk to most of the coaching staffs around the league. What is the first thing they think about with Jeremy Grant? And it’s that athleticism that comes to mind. He hits the second from the line and once known for his defense, Jeremy Grant has become a knockdown three-point shooter. Now, Bren’s fun to watch. Yeah, that’s really opened up some lanes for him as a player to do more, become more complete. I mean, his slashing game has come along. He’s been a better rebounder. And if you foul him, he’s going to cash in at the free throw line. Now here’s a eight points for him. And it’s Cllingon with the jam. Oh, getting fancy now. Cllingon. Wow. Henderson against Pippen. Left side. Williams [Applause] drops in the layup for two. Williams has got his first bucket in this one. And guys, they continue to put a lot of pressure on the interior defenders with their work down low. Pass to Sharp. [Applause] Grant sets a screen for Sharp over Williams and it’s Sharp missing. You’re not going to see that very often. The defense in the vicinity, but still he’s not one to blow layups. Pippen for three and Klingan pulls it down. Cllingan’s got rebound number eight now on the night. Here’s Henderson. Kicks it out to Grant. Stolen by Pippen. [Applause] Wells in the corner. Fouled in the act of shooting. Gets the bucket anyway. So a three-point play chance for him. How about that one? Able to maintain control and finish the play. The Grizzlies have made five of eight of their free throw attempts. Jackson, he’s checked in for Edy at the line for one. [Music] [Applause] And here’s Anderson. He’ll bring it up for the Portland Trailblazer. And we’ve got a timeout called by Chanty Bis. And coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. [Music] It’s time. Let’s hear it for you. [Applause] [Applause] Back to Sharp and the wideopen shot from Aia. Off target from outside. The Grizzlies have gotten just over 50% of their shots to drop here in the second quarter. They’re five for nine. Alanhub finds Williams. Now here’s Pippen. Stolen by Henderson. And here we go. Trailblazers with a fast break. Shoots over Pippen. Portland. No good that time either. Memphis has gone one of four from three-point range in the second. Not a whole lot dropping out there for them. Here’s Jackson. And it’s good for two. Seven points for Jiren Jackson. Yeah, here’s a list of things I don’t want to do. And right at the top is guard that guy. Sharp on the wing. [Applause] Pass through Aia. That one’s off. Still out of sync. He just doesn’t look like himself this quarter. Something’s missing. Well, he’s missing and it’s starting to affect a little bit in his body language and you just don’t want to see that. Now, here’s Jackson. He’s got seven outside for Pippen. Just five on the clock. Well sets the pick for Pippen. [Applause] Henderson pulls it in. Trailblazers trail by three. Pass to Grant and out of bounds as the Grizzlies gain possession. Beautiful and the Grizzlies with some changes. Orwell Pope comes in for Vince Williams and it’s Morant in for Pippen. The Trailblazers also changing it up. Kamar has checked in and it’s Drew Holiday in for Sharp. And the Grizzlies leading by three. [Applause] And here’s Morant. He’s got six. Memphis moving it around. Aldama passes to Caldwell Pope. There’s the triple. Sinks it. What range from outside. Wow. Calwell Pope’s got the lead up to six now for Memphis. [Applause] Alert against Caldwell Pope back and deliver and wrestling for it there but no one has possession. He’ll have a jump ball. calling for a jump ball [Applause] trying to get something going and finished off by and he’s an automatic finisher when he gets into that area. He is and he picks the simple oneand stuff to get the two points. Now here’s Morance. Jackson a screen on Holland outside Jackson has to Caldwell Pope six to shoot. Here’s Lillard and the rejection by Jackson. Now Wells 12 points for him. shot. I boast and Mor gets it to go. Morance’s got eight points. And a breakdown here, guys, the hustle stats for the Grizzlies. How about the ferocity we have seen from them on defense? I mean, they’re looking to contest every shot that goes up. They’ve sort of assumed control of this game with their pressure defensively. They’ve been into the ball handler. They’ve done a great job of swarming. So they’re creating some turnovers and they’re capitalizing on the Trailblazers shooting their seventh free throw attempt here. And look back a season ago, they did a solid job at the line about 79% of their free throws. [Music] [Applause] [Applause] And that one misses. Memphis leading by four. Morant with it. He’s got eight. Pass to Elmo on Pope left side. Wells with it. Now Morant fires the three and Cllingan pulls it down outside. Abdia. [Applause] Here’s Kamar. [Applause] That’s a two from Lillard and he sinks that one in the back of the rim on the way in. And now just a two-point Grizzly lead. Morance against Holiday. Here’s Elama. Pass to Wells. [Applause] Morant outside over Holiday. And it’s Morant missing. The Trailblazers have gone seven of 16, shooting just under 50% here in the second quarter. Javia gets the bucket. It has been nip and tuck through the first half. Exactly, guys. The way it’s seessawed back and forth. Unbelievable. Call the Grizzlies and doesn’t like how things are going right now. The timeout before the timeout here maybe just to cut off the momentum and have a chitchat with the team to settle down. Brandon Clark, he’s checked in for the Grizzlies. Jackson comes in for Wells. The Trailblazers also changing it up. Hansen’s checked in for Cllingan and Matis Thyel subbed in for Avdia. [Applause] [Music] Now here’s Clark as to Jackson. Morant outside. Back to Jackson. Just five to shoot. Memphis needs to get off a shot here over Thel. The Grizzlies with another miss. Portland’s gone past the three-point line for 13 of their shots. Six of 13. Here’s Kamari. And a lot of contact on that one, so he’ll shoot two here. The Trailblazers have gone five and seven from the free throw line in the game. [Music] Two shots. [Applause] Shooting two. [Applause] First one falls for [Applause] That one falls. So he hits both of them. The Grizzlies trail by three. Out left of the wing. And here we go. Holiday heading to the hoop and the rejection by Morant. And it’s out of bounds. Last touch by Morant. You got to love strong defense, especially when it comes in the form of harsh rejections. Wow. And boy, did he get up quick to reject that shot. That’s as fundamental as defense gets. Holiday finds Lillard. Good ball movement here by the Trailblazers. launches a three. That’s the six make from the field. He’s taken nine shots and missed but three. It doesn’t take much or long for Lillard to catch fire. An incredible offensive talent. Mor passes to Jackson. Caldwell Pope on the wing covered by Lillard. Knocked away. Pocket six. Clark dishes to Moran and he can’t stop this drought. Another miss. Greg, with how explosive John Moran is, he has certainly taken his fair share of awkward falls and that’s what worries you with guys like that. He’s already had a number of injuries in his young career, but we all just want to see him at full health. Now Holiday following the miss by John Mor from deep. There’s the screen. Lillard bounce pass. Here’s Kamar. He’s covered by Clark. Ring shot on the way. Kamar misses. And so it’s Jackson who brings it up for Memphis. Six-point game. And now the latest reporter David. Kevin, thanks. It’s important to remember Damen Lillard was a twostar prospect coming out of high school in Oakland. He says that the doubt I faced, what I found is I have true belief in myself. I poured a lot in and just continue to work. That’s why when I struggle, I never waver because I know that I’m true to it. Eventually, I’m going to have my time. Kevin, I think they call that game time. Hey, David, thank you. [Applause] Six seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Cwell Pope against Helen. And now the Grizzlies. Fast break. Caldwell Pope. Kicks to Jackson. Back to Caldwell Pope. Pass to Clark. Jackson with it for three. Coldwell Pope. That shot misses. And that was almost a block. Still did enough to alter the shot. Yeah, altering the shot. Just as long as there’s a miss, that kind of energy not wasted. And some good action through the first two quarters. As we reach halftime, it’s the Trailblazers. They finish off the second quarter on a 14-4 run. And we’ll be back right after halftime for the start of the third quarter. We’ll see you in a bit. The American Express halftime show Hey, [Music] the American American Express halftime show. And as we get into this third quarter, as we’ve seen so far, neither team able to create much separation on the scoreboard yet. Really an incredible game from Lillard. What a menace he was on defense through the first two quarters. Just disrupting everything. Yeah, and that’s exactly what he wanted to do out there. Everyone he guarded looked uncomfortable. Trailblazers leading by four. Here’s who Chanty Phillips will start the second half with Holiday out there with Damen Lillard. Then it’s Denny Aia. Then there’s clinging and it’s Kamar in at the power forward position and the basket by Lillard. Lillard’s got the lead up to six now for the Trailblazers and Dame Lillard with tremendous concentration there. Pass to Jackson and Holiday with a clear path to the hoop and it’s slammed in by Holiday. Beautiful transition offense there. That’s execution at its best. Yeah, once you burst through a seam like that, you got to look right towards the rim. Sweet play. Portland’s gotten the three-point shot off 16 times tonight. Seven times they’ve hit it, nine times they’ve missed. Lillard with a screen for Holiday. And the Trailblazers getting another bucket right there. Excellent screen and roll there by Holiday. He gets a great look at the rim and then calmly steps up and knocks it down. Caldwell Pope outside and stolen by Lilith. Back to Holiday. Pass to Avdia. Now Lillard, just four to shoot and it’s off from three-point range. The Grizzlies trail by 10. Alama with the ball. Good. And the nice assist from Morance. Morance got his fifth assist in this one. Pass to Kamar [Applause] outside. A here’s Kamar. Here is Lillard. He’s guarded by Caldwell Pope. Here’s Kamar. And they come right back with their own three-pointer. Kamar’s got the lead. Back up to 10 now for the Trailblazers. Morance against Holland. Here’s Wells and he can’t answer back. The three-pointer offline. Portland has gone one and two from beyond the arc since coming out of the break on the wing. Holiday guarded by Morant. got a piece of it and they’re able to recover. A terrific defender and Jackson one of those guys with great timing when he goes for the shot block and not afraid to send a message as well. Back to Caldwell Pope Jackson from long range. He can’t get it to go and so it’s Abdia with it. He brings it up for Portland. Since the second half started, they’ve only given up three points to the inside. Low block shot on the way. The shot is good off the backboard and it’s a 12-point trailblazer lead. Well, that just scrambled the defense all kinds of ways with that great initial pass. Back to Morant. Outside Jackson. Good. And a nice assist from Mor. Jackson’s got 10 points in the game. As a passer, Mor has developed great instincts and he’s going to exploit those gaps in the deep. And we’ve got a timeout call by Chanty Bips. He is going to have a discussion here on the sideline. Give a big [Applause] [Applause] third quarter of basketball here in just a little under three and a half minutes gone by. Pass to Kamare. Back to Lillard and Lillard gets double teamed. Five on the clock and the basket by Camar. He just sagged off just enough and no hesitation on his part. Morant passes to Caldwell Pope. Here’s Elama. The three-pointer no good. The Trailblazers on offense. They’re on a 14-6 run and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. And you know what? You allow a guy to get right to the rim like that. That’s your only option. And guys, what do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for Portland? I’m in love with how they’re moving the basketball all game long. And also their ability to move without the ball. That style just makes it so difficult to defend. And it seemed like throughout this game, right after the jump ball, they’ve just been feeling it from distance, getting all the looks they want and continuing to take advantage of that three-point line. And so he hits both. Here’s Morant. Eight points for him. Pass to Wells. Morant with the screen on AIA. Now here’s well defended by Abd Jackson kicks to call Pope. Here’s Elama. Good on the three-point shot. Aldama’s got two now from beyond the arc in the third for the Grizzlies. Here’s Kamar. [Applause] And the rejection by Jackson. That one is good. He’s only missed one shot of his six taken on the floor. A big night for Jackson so far. He’s a talented scorer and only getting better. [Applause] Codwell Pope against Willard. Cha Mor with the rebound. And that was a little bit of a rage check for him. Well, I thought they played smart and then all of a sudden it was maybe a little too flashy there and that uh that’s unfortunate. The adjustments they’ve made offensively, they’re putting guys in a position now to succeed. A possession just way more efficient, I think, here tonight. Taking smarter, better shots, moving the ball around. That’s helped them to get back in the ball game. Here’s Klingan after Memphis gets the three. Pass to Opia. Fires from deep. It’s rebounded by Memphis. Here’s Mor and foul on the shot. So he’ll get a chance at the line. Second play from Denny Aia picks one up. High effort play by Moran. He refuses to let the foul stop him from getting the shot. Shooting two. That’s good from Morant. And there’s no doubt Morant near the top of the list of elite scorers in this league. He’s off on the second. Portland leading by five and Holiday has it in the corner. [Applause] Pass to Cllingan. [Applause] No good. They had a chance to end the run there. And it’s Jackson with the ball bringing it up for the Memphis Grizzlies. Morant passes to Elmo. Back to Mor and two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the contact. That one is on holiday and going up strong inside demonstrates confidence. Mor not afraid to get physical. [Applause] Shooting two. The first free throw is good and some changes here for the Grizzlies. Brandon Clark, he’s checked in for Santi Aldamo. Vince Williams comes in for Wells and it’s Ty Jerome in for Caldwell Pope. Portland also making some changes. Hansen comes in for Cllingan and Matis Thybel subbed in for Avdia. Both free throws good from Morant. Portland leading by three. Pass to Holiday. Here’s Kamar. He’s covered by Clark for three. Rebounded by Jackson. Jackson’s got six rebounds in the game. Here’s Jerome. Here’s Mor. Cross contact on the shot. And now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line. Just superior focus for Moran. His determination is what allows him to convert through contact. He’s made three of his four free throw attempts in the game. At the line for one shot. That one drops. He ties it up. Portland with the ball. Lillard the pass to Hansen. Here’s Kamar. Some nice ball movement here by the Trailblazers. and out of bounds as Memphis gains possession. And right now, let’s watch that terrific swat. And in a close game, blocks like that are so clutch. And that could be a real difference maker here tonight. Memphis with the ball. They’re on a 17 to five run. Morance outside. A miss that time would have put him up. Trailblazer shooting down near the 40% mark since halftime. They’ve been slow getting going. Faster to Kamari. Good. Great play by Lillard to set it up. Kamar’s got 11 points here in just the second half. Morance against Lillard. Here’s Jackson shooting foul. As the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. And between his footwork and height, Jackson is a tough matchup for defenders here. He takes full advantage and draws the foul. Shooting two. [Applause] That free throw no good. Good on the second free throw. The Trailblazers have gone seven for 16 the second half from the field shooting a bit under 50%. Here’s Hansen. Count the basket and the foul. That’s on Jiren Jackson. Nice find by Lillard. He deserves some recognition for that kind of passing. The Trailblazers have shot nine of 11 at the free throw line. Shooting one. [Applause] and here are the Grizzlies now. Morant outside [Music] Jackson. Here’s Jerome. Good on the jump shot. Jerome’s got five. Trailblazers leading by three. [Applause] And here’s Holiday. As to Hansen. [Applause] And here now is Fyel. Pocket four. Holiday with the three. And the rebound goes to the Grizzlies. Jackson’s got seven rebounds in the game. Now Morant back to Williams. Pass to Jackson. [Applause] The fade away and the Grizzlies tap down two more. And great from deep Jackson. No issues hitting the mid-range either. Another biggie who has range in the new NBA. Now here’s Lillard. 18 points for him. They set the pick. [Applause] Here’s Hansen. Going to go that time. Some solid defense there from Jackson for the lead. And that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. Tough task trying to corral Clark there, especially when he’s looking to score. It’s his first trip to the line and not the guy you want to see at the line too often. Season numbers has him in the bottom tier of the league. Ties it up. And this next one could give them the lead. Some changes for Memphis. Edes checked in for Williams and Pippen subbed in for Morant. [Applause] And they now lead as the free throw drops for him. Here’s Sharp. He’s got nine. Henderson outside. Three-pointer. [Applause] Pippen with the steel. [Applause] Pass to Jerome [Music] and it’s Clark in the corner. Six on the shot clock. They set the pick. The Grizzlies with another miss. And it’s the Trailblazers with the ball. They trail by one. Vel for three. It’s good from long range. By got his first bucket of the game and he’s on the board for three. Already a gifted passer. Henderson has solid vision for such a young player. Jackson a screen on Sharp. Williams with the block and that’s out of bounds. Memphis will retain possession. And we got to take a second look to admire that outstanding block. Sharp instincts on D there. just timing when to rise up and swat that one away. And there’s a minute 45 left to play in the third. Smart accurate passes, Greg, are really paying off for them at the moment. And also good offball movement. Everyone is paying attention and looking to create the best shot for the team. Now here’s Nyel. [Applause] Shot clock at six. [Applause] Pass to Sharp. Gets it to go from 18 ft away. Now it’s a four-point trailblazer lead. Oh, making it look routine. This is why Sharp’s guys encourage him to look for that shot. We know Brent, there are many roads that lead to the modern NBA and Shaden Sharp took his own unique path. Yeah, Kevin, you could say that again. I mean, he was on the Kentucky campus as a player, but never participated in a collegiate game. And then all of a sudden finding himself at the top end of the NBA draft without ever playing a college game. Oh, an aggressive move and fantastic finish. Trying to send a message with that slam, I think. And he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. And how about that move by Sharp against the defense, getting them to put contact on him so he can draw the foul. He’s gone two for two at the line so far. [Applause] And the first one at the line is good. And the Grizzlies making a change here. Williams has checked in. and Sharp drops them both. The Grizzlies trail by four. 40 seconds left to play in the third. Over in the corner, Williams drills the three-pointer. Williams has got five now. That’s the kind of D that you’re not going to find success with guys. They’ve got to get a hand in the face. And for Portland, they’re shooting the ball around 43% from the floor so far in the third quarter. Now here’s Nelson. The pass to Sharp and then Sharp with the dunk. Whether you’re new to the league like Sharp or a veteran throwing it down, no better feeling. Pippen feeling it out a bit. The three. That shot is off. Three quarters of play in a close game here. The Trailblazers lead by three. Live from the FedEx Forum. You’re watching 2K Sports. How about a look at today’s state farm assist of the game and the definition of teamwork right there, guys. I mean, what great communication between them and what a beautiful feat. The coaches talk about it all the time, but to be able to play with that kind of feel. Nice play collaborating, improvising, and organic. And it’s been a very competitive game so far as we get rolling here in quarter number four. We’ve got Edy. Randon Clark is out there with Vince Williams. Then it’s Pippen and it’s Jerome in at the two guard spot. That’s the lineup in the game for Memphis. Yep, that one goes in there. Yeah, nothing too fancy. Just getting the job done when they need to make every possession count. Pass to Grant [Music] and the rejection by Clark. Well, this is where measurements don’t tell the whole story. Clark is a tremendous shot blocker despite having an average wingspan. Now, here’s Grant. Henderson finds Williams. Now, here’s Sharp from outside off the mark. And we played through about a minute here in the fourth. Williams passes to Jerome. [Applause] Six to shoot. Yep. Right through the net. And the Grizzlies lead by one. Went right down to the wire here. Still anyone’s ball game. Yeah. And after all the energy both sides have expended, both teams still hungry for Williams. passes to Sharp out to Henderson. Gets it to go from beyond the arc. A part of Henderson’s game that’s improving. Nice to see him build some confidence from behind the line. Here’s Jerome defended by Sharp Clark. Some solid defense from Grant for Portland. They’ve gone one of three from the field to start the fourth quarter. Sharp the pass to Henderson. [Music] It’s tipped. And now here comes Williams leading the break. Pass to Jerome. Down low outside for Pippen. Off the mark there with the three-point shot. Portland’s gone one and two from three-point range here in the fourth. Here’s Grant. Williams with the block and it’s out of bounds. They say it was last touch by Williams. And the Grizzlies with some changes. Santias checked in for Clark. Bells comes in for Vince Williams. And it’s Caldwell Pope in for Tai Jerome. And over two and a half minutes in the books here in the fourth. Here’s [Applause] Sharp and he buries that one. Drilling the rim on the way down. And not just an athlete. Sharp is very crafty with the ball in his hand. Pippen against Henderson. Right side. Pippen for three. Coldwell Pope. Henderson pulls it in. Portland leading by four. Thel kicks to Grant. Henderson outside and the three off target. Memphis has gotten off to an 0 for two start from downtown here in the fourth quarter. Pass Diti. Here’s Aldama. And out of bounds as the Trailblazers gain possession. There’s his ball. And now let’s take a look again at that incredible rejection. And this is why coaches stress the importance of defense. Big block there in this close game. So for the Trailblazers comes in for Matis Style and it’s Holiday in for Shaden Sharp. A bit under three and a half minutes have passed here in the fourth. Grant on the wing. It’s deflected now. Pippen. [Applause] Pass to Eldamo. Here’s Wells guarded by Holiday. Down to five on the shot clock. A three-pointer is right on target. That’s a high percentage look when the D doesn’t fight over the screen. Yeah, coach over there just asking for one simple thing and that’s some effort. Got burned on that one. Now here’s Henderson and Abdia. The bucket on the edes by Henderson and the Trailblazers lead by four. Both teams running perimeter oriented plays that are working well. Both of them looking towards the three-point line. And I like to see that especially when the results are made buckets. And so it’s Abdia with it. He brings it up for the Trailblazers. Have allowed just seven points here in the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies have gone three of eight here in the fourth quarter. Pippen the pass to Wells. Pass Diti outside for Pippen. Memphis moving it around and Caldwell Pope gets the basket. Cowwell Pope favors the corner shot at times and he can drill it. It’s Henderson on the wing defended by Pippen. Grant the pass to Holiday. Williams has a screen for Holiday to the inside and the call on the shot. It sends him to the line. He picks one up. And the energy of Williams, it’s infectious. Amazing at using it to block shots, rebound, score, whatever they ask of him. [Applause] And he knocks down the first one. And some changes here for the Grizzlies. Jackson comes in for Edy. And it’s John Morant in for Pippen. And then for the Trailblazers, Kamar is checked in and Lillard subbed in for Henderson. [Music] [Applause] and he makes the first but misses the second. Well, they should be looking at a three-point lead. Hopefully for them that miss won’t cost going to be out of bounds. The Trailblazers will take he’s checked in for Robert Williams. Number 23, Donovan Ken. Portland’s gone two of five on three-point shots since the end of the third quarter. Codwell Pope against Lillard. Here’s Holiday. It’s rebounded by Memphis. Moran’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Well, a longer point guard out there, Drew Holiday, can score close into the rim with that kind of size. There’s Morant after Drew Holiday score. Back to Morant. Stolen by Holiday. Pass to Klingan. Lillard from outside. They get it again. Tries again. Some solid defense there from Jackson. The Grizzlies trail by four to the middle. Shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. And this is where Jackson feasts and at times he’s just too overwhelming toward the D which results in the foul. shooting two. And he makes the first And that’s good as he hits both of his shots. Portland leading. Lillard outside the screen for Lillard. Fires the three. Good on the triple. Lillard’s got 21 in the game. Confident and composed on the three-point shot at a critical juncture. Back to Morant. Alama with the ball. High post. Jackson. Shot clock at six. Got a hand on it. And with every swat, Klingan is earning a reputation as a shot blocker. Lillard right side shoots over Wells and Damen Lillard with the bucket on the assist by Abd [Applause] got his fourth assist in this one. Morance against Holiday. Here’s the floater. It’ll go. The Portland lead is cut down now to just five on the bucket from Morant. The delicate touch on display there. Got to love when Mor lets that floater fly off his fingertips. Beautiful. Now here’s [Applause] continues. Second personal foul. Second team shooting for Dian at the line for two. He throw good. Damen Lillard. Hey, Lillard has all the talent in the world, but man, this guy is a great leader. Lots of charisma, and he holds his teammates accountable. [Music] [Applause] He hits both from the strike and it’s the Grizzlies with the ball. Mor left side. Here’s Aldo. It’s deflected. Holiday finds Lillard. Now Klingan defended by Aldama. Flinging shot is off. The Grizzlies trail by seven inside. It’s tipped. Here’s Kamar. Defended by Aldama. Pass to Avia with the steel. Caldwell Pope on the wing. Now here’s Jackson covered by Lillard. Here’s Aldama. The tray and Cllingan pulls it down. Well, he’s using the force, but in the worst way possible right now. He just needs to dial it back and look to work the ball around the floor to his teammates. Now, here’s Odia to the paint. Here’s Willard. The rebound by Caldwell Pope. Memphis has gone a disappointing two assists on three-point attempts here in the fourth. [Applause] Holiday against Mor. Memphis moving it around. Shot clock at five. Here’s Wells. No good on the three. Portland leading by seven. Pass to Aia over to the wing. Codwell Pope against Lillard. Trains it from beyond the arm. Lillard’s got 10 points in the quarter. He’s just stretching him out. The defense has got to do a better job of staying attached to him. I’m not sure what the defense collectively was thinking there. You got to know where he is at all times. Holiday looking over the floor. [Applause] Pass to Cllingan. Here’s Kamar defended by Aldama. Outside Aia, it’s blocked. Here’s Mor and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. No question he got bumped on that shot. at the line for Josh Mor. Two shots, shooting two. He drops the first one and that brings them within single digits. [Applause] both free throws good from Morant. Now here’s Lillard. 151 left in the fourth quarter. Back to Abdia. Millard against Jackson. Klingan and they pick up two. Six points for Donovan Klingan. I tell you, not only does Klingan set sturdy screens, he knows how to make himself available for the pass. [Applause] Pass to Aldo. And again, Memphis no good. Well, that’s a shot right there. He’s going to hit nine times out of 10. We just saw the 10% he doesn’t hit. A bass to Lillard outside Holiday. Pocket six outside. Abdia shoots over Wells. Abdia can’t hit. That’s a shot he’s got to hit. You don’t get many looks better from that range. Thing burn some clock if they want to and get a little breather as well. And it looks like just playing the last bit of this one out in what should be a nice win here for the Trailblazers. When you shoot this well from three-point range, you’re really hard to stop. The defense didn’t rotate out fast enough to stop the hot shooting. Exactly, Kevin. They were lethal from deep. And what a tremendous standout performance it was for Lillard. Just an outpouring of points from him. Nobody could do much to keep him from dropping it in. two. [Applause] Free throw good from Lillard. [Applause] And he makes both free throws. Breathe easy now. The biggest free throws in the game and he’s coming through. And Morance’s got the ball here for the Grizzlies. And again, Memphis no good. It’s 9 seconds separating the shot clock and game clock. Here’s Odia and the rejection by Jackson. A sensational block that definitely deserves another look. And guys, that block could really help change the momentum of this game. There’s 25 seconds left in the fourth quarter of this one. Pass to Avdia. No good with the triple. Now here’s Well. He’s tightly guarded. That one goes in. [Applause] And so Portland takes this one, but by a big margin. They came in here and took care of business like they were the home team. And the mental toughness that this group showed, they they were never rattled at all by the opposing fans. And now we’ll go to David Aldridge who’s standing by with our player of the game. Take it away, David. Thanks very much, Dame. I know you’re accustomed to seeing all kinds of defenses against you. So, what have you learned to stay effective? Um, that you got to trust, you know, I got to trust my teammates when I get in the paint. I got to make the drop off passes and the more I can do that, the defense will loosen up on me and then I can do what I do and, you know, play well offensively. Um, and guys just did a great job of that tonight. Yeah, there was good flow at both ends, man. Congrats on the win. Back to you. Thank you, David. And that’ll do it, folks, for Brett Barry, Greg Anthony, and David Aldridge. This is Kevin Harland along with our 2K Sports crew. And now, our player of the game, Damen Lillard. [Music]
